Abstract
Chorangioma is the most common type of primary non-trophoblastic tumor of the placenta, usually identified incidentally on ultrasound or at delivery. Leiomyomas within the placenta have been described, though they are rare and usually of maternal origin. We present an unusual case of a placental tumor with combined histopathologic and immunohistochemical features of both chorangioma and leiomyoma. A 39-year-old woman was found to have an echogenic placental mass at 33 weeks of gestation on ultrasound, that was thought to be a chorangioma. They followed up weekly, and performed a cesarean section at 39 weeks, due to concern for intrauterine growth restriction. No fetal or maternal complications occurred. Grossly, a 9-cm, red-brown mass with a broad-based stalk was identified on the fetal surface of the placenta near the periphery. Microscopically, the lesion was found to display characteristic features of chorangioma, with vascular proliferation, which stained positive for CD34 and CD31. SMA and caldesmon immunohistochemical staining was also positive, highlighting the proliferation of smooth muscle throughout the neoplasm. Literature review revealed a single additional case with similar characteristics.

Abstract
Background: Placental chorioangioma is the most common benign non-trophoblastic neoplasm of the placenta. Its clinical relevance lies in the size of the tumor since larger masses cause pregnancy complications, including an unfavorable neonatal outcome. Case presentation: We report the case of a 34-year-old second gravida and nullipara at the 35th week of gestation, admitted to the gynecological department for antibiotic-resistant fever. The cardiotocography performed during hospitalization showed an abnormal fetal pattern. A 2250 g newborn was delivered by cesarean section. No complications were observed during childbirth and postpartum was insignificant. On gross inspection a white fleshy intraparenchymal mass blooming on the maternal surface was noted; routinely stained sections revealed features consistent with chorioangioma with vascular channels lined by inconspicuous endothelial cells immunoreactive for CD31 and CD133. Focal expression of CD133 was also observed in placental villi. Discussion: CD133 expression indicated the presence of stem cells in chorioangioma, suggesting their possible role in the development of mesenchymal lesions including chorioangioma.

Abstract
We experienced a case with fetal hydrops, polyhydramnios, and a well-defined oval anechoic lesion of approximately 9 cm in size, without blood flow at 26 weeks' gestation. As increased middle cerebral artery peak systolic velocity, the fetal hydrops was caused by a placental tumor such as a chorioangioma; however, the tumor was atypical. Fetal blood hemoglobin was 8.3 g/dl on percutaneous umbilical cord blood sampling. After erythrocytes transfusion to the fetus, the mother normally delivered at 38 weeks' gestation. The placental tumor was histologically diagnosed as a necrotic chorioangioma. Obstetricians should note such atypical chorioangiomas when differential diagnosis of placental tumors.

Abstract
Multiple papillomatous nodules were observed scattered over the amniotic membrane in six water buffaloes that had recently aborted. Grossly, some of the nodules had multiple villous projections while others appeared as single prominent conical or cylindrical horns. Histology revealed folded hyperplastic and hyperkeratotic epithelium supported by a narrow fibro-vascular stalk. Using PCR, sequences of the bovine Deltapapillomavirus type 2 (BPV-2) E5 gene were amplified from the amniotic papillomas. Furthermore, expression of the E5 gene was detected using reverse transcription (RT)-PCR. Western blotting revealed BPV-2 E5 oncoprotein as well as L1 protein, suggesting both abortive and productive infection. Additionally, a functional complex composed of BPV-2 E5 oncoprotein and the phosphorylated PDGFβR was detected, which is consistent with the activation of PDGFβR by the interaction with BPV-2 E5 oncoprotein. These results demonstrate that BPV-2 can infect the amnion of water buffaloes and suggest that this infection may cause proliferation of the epithelial cells of the amnion. While the precise pathogenesis in uncertain, it is possible that BPV-2 infection of stratified squamous epithelial cells within squamous metaplasia foci and/or amniotic plaques could lead to papilloma formation. Papillomavirus-associated amniotic papillomas have not previously been reported in any species, including humans.

Abstract
We report a case of an unusual chorangioma in a 26-year-old gravida 2, para 1 female. The clinical course was complicated by premature birth at 34 weeks' gestation. The baby presented with congenital cardiac and renal malformations. The tumor was 11 cm in size, separated from the main placental mass and exhibited atypical histologic characteristics such as fibromatous areas, high cellularity, nuclear atypia and high mitotic index. These histologic features must not be interpreted as malignancy.

Abstract
Placental chorioangioma is the most common type of placental tumor. It is usually symptomless and may be associated with serious maternal and fetal complication when it reaches a large size. We presented a case of an angiomatous type of placental hemangioma diagnosed in the second trimester of pregnancy in a patient with polyhydramnios. A normal volume of amniotic fluid was successfully achieved by three amnioreductions with conservative management. The size of the placental tumor remained the same from the time of diagnosis to the end of pregnancy. A term labor was uncomplicated and a healthy newborn was delivered. Macroscopic and microscopic examination of the placenta confirmed the diagnosis. Despite the rarity of placental tumors, they should be considered as differential diagnosis in cases of polyhydramnios.
