Abstract
AIM To assess the antimicrobial effect of ozone gas (OG) 0.1% riboflavin (RF), glutaraldehyde (GaH), and microwave irradiation (MI) on Polyvinyl siloxane impression material formerly colonized with E. coli, P. Aeruginosa, E. faecalis, and S.aureus and their effect on the physical properties MATERIAL AND METHODS: One hundred disk-shaped specimens (diameter 10 mm and thickness 3 mm) were developed by using polyvinylsiloxane impression material and inoculated by the American Type Culture Collection (ATCC) of E. coli, P. aeruginosa, E. faecalis, and S.aureus in an in-vitro setup. The samples were arbitrarily isolated into five groups and subjected for 3 min to the designated disinfection modality. Group 1 Control, group 2: GaH, group 3: 0.1% RF, group 4: MI, and group 5 OG. Following decontamination, the physical properties (contact angle, strain-in-compression, and tear strength) of impression materials were evaluated. Statistical analysis for CFU/mL (log10) for exposed E. coli, P. aeruginosa, E. faecalis, and S.aureus was performed by using analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Tukey's multiple comparison tests at a p-value of less than 0.05. RESULTS The most effective antimicrobial efficacy for impression disinfection against all scrutinized microbial colonies were displayed by group 5 OG and the lowest disinfection effectiveness was unveiled by the control group with no treatment. The intragroup comparison revealed that impression disinfection with GaH, MI, and ozone corroborated analogous antimicrobial efficacy(p > 0.05). The disinfecting capacity of the impression material with 0.1% RF was significantly less than MI, GaH, and OG (p < 0.05). CONCLUSION Disinfection of polyvinyl siloxane impression material with ozone gas, microwave irradiation, and glutaraldehyde demonstrated reasonable antimicrobial efficiencies against E. coli, P. aeruginosa, E. faecalis, and S.aureus with no detrimental effects on the physical properties of impression material. More studies are advocated to extrapolate the findings of the present study.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To systematically evaluate the effect of microwave disinfection on the dimensional stability of denture base acrylic resins. BACKGROUND Microwave disinfection has been considered as an alternative method for disinfecting complete dentures to help prevent and treat denture stomatitis. However, data on the impact of microwave disinfection on the dimensional stability of acrylic resins are still scarce. METHODS The PubMed/Medline, SCOPUS and EMBASE databases were searched in order to assess articles published in English up to January 2021 (CRD42021212267). We included studies that have assessed the effect of microwave disinfection, on the dimensional stability of acrylic resins, comparing them with negative or positive controls. RESULTS A total of seven in vitro studies were included. The qualitative synthesis demonstrated that, in general, microwave disinfection produced more distortion on the materials than do immersion in sodium hypochlorite, chloride solution, chlorhexidine, and water immersion. However, considering the dimensional stability of the specimens, microwave disinfection at 500 W for 3 minutes, and at 450 W for 5 minutes, produced similar or better outcomes than did control groups. CONCLUSION In general, microwave disinfection promotes changes in the dimensional stability of denture base acrylic resins, and should thus be used with caution. However, microwave disinfection protocols at lower power settings (500 and 450 W) and exposure times (3 and 5 minutes) produces similar or less distortion than chemical disinfection. More studies are still required in order to evaluate the clinical and long-term implications of microwave disinfection.

Abstract
PURPOSE The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of paracetic acid (PAA) and ozone disinfection on the tensile bond strength (TBS) of silicone-based resilient liners to acrylic resins. MATERIALS AND METHODS One hundred and twenty dumbbell shaped heat-polymerized acrylic resins were prepared. From the mid segment of the specimens, 3 mm of acrylic were grinded off and separated parts were reattached by resilient liners. The specimens were divided into 2 control (control1, control7) and 4 test groups of PAA and ozone disinfection (PAA1, PAA7, ozone1 and ozone7; n=10). While control groups were immersed in distilled water for 10 min (control1) and 7 days (control7), test groups were subjected to PAA (16 g/L) or ozone rich water (4 mg/L) for 1 cycle (10 min for PAA and 60 min for ozone) per day for 7 days prior to tensile tests. Measurements of the TBS were analyzed using 3-way ANOVA and Tukey's HSD test. RESULTS Adhesive strength of Mollosil decreased significantly by application of ozone disinfection. PAA disinfection had no negative effect on the TBS values of Mollosil and Molloplast B to acrylic resin. Single application of ozone disinfection did not have any negative effect on TBS values of Molloplast B, but prolonged exposure to ozone decreased its adhesive strength. CONCLUSION The adhesion of resilient liners to acrylic was not adversely affected by PAA disinfection. Immersion in ozonated water significantly decreased TBS of Mollosil. Prolonged exposure to ozone negatively affects adhesion of Molloplast B to denture base materials.

Abstract
The aims of this study were to evaluate the effectiveness of six disinfection methods and the influence of these methods on the adaptation of maxillary dentures. Acrylic resin specimens contaminated with fungi were exposed to the following disinfection treatments: 1. microwave oven (900 W) at full power for 5 min (with soaking the specimen in 250 ml water), 2. microwave oven at medium power for 5 min (with soaking the specimen in 250 ml water), 3. sodium hypochlorite 5.25 % for 5 min, 4. diluted sodium hypochlorite 1:420 for 5 h, 5. Chlorhexidine gluconate for 5 h, 6. effervescent tablets for 15 min, 7. soaking in 250 ml tap water for 15 min. Colony forming units (CFUs) of remaining cells were counted and compared with t test (p ≤ 0.05). Dimensional stability was evaluated using aluminum die simulating the maxillary edentulous arch. Posterior palatal gaps were measured. Data were analyzed using one-way ANOVA test and t test (p ≤ 0.05). Microwave irradiation (at full or medium power) and sodium hypochlorite 5.25 % for 5 min were able to reduce the CFUs of fungi by more than 4 log10 whereas diluted sodium hypochlorite, chlorhexidine gluconate, and effervescent tablets did not achieve a reduction of >2.8, 2.68 and 1.66, respectively. For dimensional stability test, t test revealed significant difference between control group and the microwave at full power group (p = 0.000). Within the limits of this study, microwave oven at medium power and sodium hypochlorite (5.25 %) are effective and safe methods of disinfecting removable dentures.

Abstract
The aims of the present study were to describe an impression method of "inner circular sealing area" and to evaluate the effect of the method on retention, aesthetics and comfort of complete dentures, which lack labial base for patients with maxillary protrusions. Three patients were subjected to the experiment, and two sets of complete maxillary dentures were made for each patient; the first set was made without labial base via an inner circular sealing area method (experimental group) and the second had an intact base that was made with conventional methods (control group). Retention force tests were implemented with a tensile strength assessment device to assess the retention and a visual analogue scale (VAS) was used to evaluate the comfort between the two groups. Results showed larger retention force, better aesthetics and more comfort in the experimental group. The improved two-step impression method formed an inner circular sealing area that prevented damage to the peripheral border seal effect of the denture caused by incomplete bases and obtained better denture retention.

Abstract
Introduction : Post and core are needed to regain retentions and functions after endodontic therapies. Also, risk of cross contamination from dental prosthesis is so high. The aim of this study was to compare dimensional changes of acrylic resin patterns (ARP) in three different storing environments. Materials and methods : conventional root canal therapy was done on one first premolar tooth and the canal filled with Guttapercha. 2/3 of the filling was expelled and 30 direct APRs were prepared by Duralay. The samples were divided into 3 groups based on storing environments: water, NaOCl 5% and air. Finally dimensional changes in coronoapical length (CAL), coronal (CD) and apical diameter (AD) of APRs were measured in 7 consecutive times (immediately after polymerization, 1, 2, 4, 8, 24, 48 hours later). All the data were analyzed by Paired T-test and Duncon test using SPSS software ver.13 at significant level of 0.05. Results : After 24 hours, the ARPs, which were stored in air, contracted 0.07, 0.06 and 0.12 mm in AD, CD and CAL; the ARPs, which were stored in water, showed 0.03, 0.06 and 0.12 mm decrease in AD, CD and CAL; But the ARPs, which were stored in NaOCl 5%, showed significant expansion in AD, CD and CAL (0.03, 0.06 and 0.10 mm) (all P values < 0.01). Conclusion : It is better not to use NaOCl for disinfecting; also the best time for storing APRs is 8 hours for water and 2 hours for air environments after setting time.

Abstract
PURPOSE To determine the dimensional stability of a poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) acrylic resin when subjected to multiple sessions of repeated microwave irradiation at power settings of 700 and 420 W. MATERIALS AND METHODS Twenty standardized denture bases were fabricated using a PMMA resin. Points of measurement were marked on each denture base with a standardized template, and the distances between points were recorded using a digital microscope. The denture bases were randomly placed into two experimental groups of 10 bases each. Individual denture bases were placed into a glass beaker containing 200 ml of room temperature deionized water and then exposed to either 700 or 420 W of microwave radiation for 3 minutes. The denture bases were allowed to cool to room temperature, and measurements between points were recorded. This process was carried out for two microwave periods with measurements being completed after each period. The data were then analyzed for any significant changes in distances between points using a Student's t-test. RESULTS All denture bases experienced 1.0 to 2.0 mm or approximately 3% linear dimensional change after each period of microwaving. Results were significant with all t-tests having values of p < 0.05. CONCLUSION This report showed that the denture bases deformed significantly under experimental conditions at either 700 W for 3 minutes in 200 ml of water or 420 W for 3 minutes in 200 ml of water.
