Abstract
BACKGROUND While Cardiac Rehabilitation (CR) programs have shown effectiveness in improving cardiac outcomes, there is limited understanding of how patients perceive and adapt to these interventions. Furthermore, alternative modes of delivering CR that have received positive evaluations from participants remain underexplored, yet they have the potential to enhance CR uptake. OBJECTIVES To explore the patient experience in CR programmes following Acute Myocardial Infarction (AMI) and describe their adaptive processing. PATIENTS AND METHODS This qualitative study was conducted at a nationally certified centre in China between July 2021 and September 2022, encompassing three stages: in-hospital, centre-based, and home-based CR programs. Purposive sampling was used to select eligible AMI patients for in-depth semi-structured interviews. The interview outline and analytical framework were aligned with the key concepts derived from the middle-range theory of adaptation to chronic illness and the normalization process theory. The findings were reported following the Consolidated Criteria for Reporting Qualitative Research checklist. RESULTS Forty AMI patients were recruited. Four main themes describing the process of AMI patients normalizing CR intervention were identified, including (1) experiencing CR service driving by role's responsibilities, (2) engaging in collaborative relationship based on interpersonal trust, (3) exploring a personalized rehabilitation plan by complex integration, and (4) expecting a promised outcome to shape decision-making. CONCLUSION Integrated care interventions for AMI patients could benefit from a collaborative co-designed approach to ensure that CR interventions are normalized and fit into patients' daily lives. Organizational-level CR services should align with the rehabilitation needs and expectations of patients.

Abstract
Bioimpedance analysis (BIA)-body composition monitoring (BCM) has been used to evaluate the hydration and nutritional status of adults and children on dialysis. However, its clinical application still has challenges, so further exploration is valuable. We used BIA-BCM to evaluate the hydration and nutritional status of children undergoing chronic peritoneal dialysis from 1 July 2021 to 31 December 2022 in the Children's Hospital of Fudan University to explore the clinical value of this method. A total of 84 children on chronic peritoneal dialysis (PD) were included. In the PD group, 16 (19.05%) and 31 (36.90%) had mild and severe overhydration (OH), respectively; 41.27% (26/63) had a low lean tissue index (LTI). In the PD group, patients with relative OH (Re-OH) > 5.6% had significantly higher systolic blood pressure (SBP) and SBP z score (SBPz). Patients with LTI > 12% had significantly higher body mass index (BMI) and BMI z score (BMIz). Canonical correlation analysis indicated a linear relationship (ρ = 0.708) between BIA-BCM hydration and the clinical hydration indicator and a linear relationship (ρ = 0.995) between the BIA-BCM nutritional indicator and the clinical nutritional indicator. A total of 56% of children on chronic peritoneal dialysis had OH, and 41% had a low LTI. In PD patients, SBP and SBPz were correlated with BIA-BCM Re-OH, and BMI and BMIz were correlated with BIA-BCM LTI. BIA-BCM indicators have good clinical value in evaluating hydration and nutrition.

Abstract
PURPOSE Although several reviews have evaluated the use of PDE5 inhibitors (PDE5i) for treating erectile dysfunction (ED), their specific use in middle-aged and old patients has not been fully evaluated. Given that elderly patients with ED often have a complex combination of systemic and sexual health risk factors, the safety and efficacy of PDE5i in such a context are hereby reviewed. MATERIALS AND METHODS A thorough examination of existing literature has been conducted on PubMed. RESULTS PDE5i has good safety and efficacy, but the situation is more complex for patients with hypogonadism than those with normal testosterone levels, with reduced responsiveness to PDE5i. In this case, combination therapy with testosterone is recommended, safe and effective. CONCLUSIONS Eliminating or reducing reversible risk factors and controlling or slowing the development of irreversible factors is an important foundation for using PDE5i to treat ED in all patients, especially middle-aged and elderly ones.

Abstract
Food-derived angiotensin-converting enzyme-inhibitory (ACE-I) peptides have attracted extensive attention. Herein, the ACE-I peptides from Scomber japonicus muscle hydrolysates were screened, and their mechanisms of action and inhibition stability were explored. The quantitative structure-activity relationship (QSAR) model based on 5z-scale metrics was developed to rapidly screen for ACE-I peptides. Two novel potential ACE-I peptides (LTPFT, PLITT) were predicted through this model coupled with in silico screening, of which PLITT had the highest activity (IC50: 48.73 ± 7.59 μM). PLITT inhibited ACE activity with a mixture of non-competitive and competitive mechanisms, and this inhibition mainly contributed to the hydrogen bonding based on molecular docking study. PLITT is stable under high temperatures, pH, glucose, and NaCl. The zinc ions (Zn2+) and copper ions (Cu2+) enhanced ACE-I activity. The study suggests that the QSAR model is effective in rapidly screening for ACE-I inhibitors, and PLITT can be supplemented in foods to lower blood pressure.

Abstract
In this study, it was found that the enhancement in the viability of Lactobacillus plantarum under gastrointestinal conditions by encapsulating them within novel C-Phycocyanin-pectin based hydrogels (from 5.7 to 7.1 log/CFU). The hardness, the strength and the stability of the hydrogels increased when the protein concentration was increased. In addition, the addition of resveratrol (RES), and tannic acid (TA) could improve the hardness (from 595.4 to 608.3 and 637.0 g) and WHC (from 93.9 to 94.2 and 94.8 %) of the hydrogels. The addition of gallic acid (GA) enhanced the hardness (675.0 g) of the hydrogels, but the WHC (86.2 %) was decreased. During simulated gastrointestinal conditions and refrigerated storage, the addition of TA enhanced the viable bacteria counts (from 6.8 and 8.0 to 7.5 and 8.5 log/CFU) of Lactobacillus plantarum. Furthermore, TA and GA are completely encased by the protein-pectin gel as an amorphous state, while RA is only partially encased.

Abstract
This study aimed to investigate the flavor changes in Huangshan floral mushroom by different enzyme treatments. Seven enzyme groups were used to hydrolyze its protein to obtain protein hydrolysates (FPHs). Flavourzyme composite with dispase hydrolysates (FDHs) were selected for ultrafiltration to obtain peptides (FPs) with different molecular weights (Mw). Changes in flavor were investigated using HPLC, LC-MS, GC-MS, amino acid analysis and sensory evaluation. Color parameters and DPPH-scavenging activity were also determined. The results revealed that flavor characteristics of FPHs obtained from different enzyme treatments varied. FDHs presented the highest degree of hydrolysis (DH) (58.61 ± 1.55) %, rich 5'-nucleotides (8.61 ± 0.43 mg/mL), volatile compounds (28.54 ± 0.11 μg/g) and free amino acids (FAAs) (7.73 ± 0.51 mg/g). Further tests suggested that FPs with small Mw (<1K, 1-3 K) were optimal for the development of novel flavors, thus providing application value for rational utilization of Huangshan floral mushroom.

Abstract
The in situ precise quantification and simultaneous imaging of low abundance microRNAs (miRNAs) within living cells is critical for cancer diagnosis, yet it remains a significant challenge. Leveraging the excellent sensitivity and spatiotemporal resolution of dark-field microscopy (DFM) and fluorescence imaging, we have successfully devised a novel detection approach using dual-signal reporter probes (DSRPs). These probes allow for highly sensitive detection of miRNA-21 in living cells via toehold-mediated strand displacement cascades. The DSRPs were constructed by Au nanoparticles and Ag nanoclusters core-satellite nanostructures. After the recognition of miRNA-21, the strand displacement cascades were triggered, inducing the disassembly of the Au/Ag core-satellite nanostructure with apparent scattering intensity decrease and peak wavelength shifts. Additionally, the fluorescence of Ag clusters could be recovered and further enhanced when in close proximity to specific guanine-rich strands. The dual-signal response capability enables the accurate detection of miRNA-21 from 1 fM to 1 nM, with a limit of detection reached 0.75 fM. DFM and fluorescent imaging of living cells efficiently confirms the applicable detection of miRNA-21 in complex detection media. The biosensor based on DSRPs represents a promising nanoplatform for visual monitoring and imaging of biomolecules in living cells, even at the single particle level.

Abstract
This study was oriented towards the impacts of unique interfacial networks, formed by glycosylated and non-glycosylated egg white proteins, on the characteristics of high internal phase Pickering emulsions (HIPPEs). Glycosylated egg white protein particles (EWPG) manifested a more compact protein tertiary structure and amplified surface hydrophobicity, forming durable coral-like networks at the oil-water interface. The non-glycosylated egg white protein particles (EWP) could form spherical cluster interfacial networks. Raman spectroscopy analysis illuminated that EWPG could exhibit better interactions with aliphatic amino acids via hydrogen bonds and hydrophobic interactions. The release of free fatty acid (FFA) from both HIPPEs followed the first-order kinetic model with a combination of diffusion. EWPG-stabilized HIPPEs demonstrated superior physical stability and cellular antioxidant activity. This research shed light on the promising prospects of HIPPEs as promising amphiphilic delivery systems with capabilities to co-deliver hydrophilic and hydrophobic nutraceuticals and amplify their intracellular biological potency.

Abstract
Seawater electrolysis is gaining recognition as a promising method for hydrogen production. However, severe anode corrosion caused by the high concentration of chloride ions (Cl-) poses a challenge for the long-term oxygen evolution reaction. Herein, an anti-corrosion strategy of oxalate anions intercalation in NiFe layered double hydroxide on nickel foam (NiFe-C2O42- LDH/NF) is proposed. The intercalation of these highly negatively charged C2O42- serves to establish electrostatic repulsion and impede Cl- adsorption. In alkaline seawater, NiFe-C2O42- LDH/NF requires an overpotential of 337 mV to gain the large current density of 1000 mA cm-2 and operates continuously for 500 h. The intercalation of C2O42- is demonstrated to significantly boost the activity and stability of NiFe LDH-based materials during alkaline seawater oxidation.

Abstract
Salvia miltiorrhiza, a widely used medicinal herb renowned for its properties in promoting blood circulation, removing blood stasis and alleviating pain, is currently facing quality degradation due to excessive heavy metal levels, posing a threat to medication safety. In order to investigate the effects of microbial inoculant, microalgae and biochar on the growth of Salvia miltiorrhiza under copper (Cu) stress, as well as its Cu absorption, antioxidant activity, active component contents and rhizosphere microbial community, a pot experiment was conducted. Salvia miltiorrhiza plants were cultivated in the soil containing 400 mg/kg of Cu for six months and treated with microbial inoculant, microalgae and biochar, either individually or in combination. Almost all soil amendment treatments led to an increase in root biomass. Notably, co-application of microbial inoculant and microalgae had the optimal effect with a 63.07 % increase compared to the group treated solely with Cu. Moreover, when microbial inoculant was applied alone or in combination with microalgae, the Cu content in plant roots was reduced by 19.29 % and 25.37 %, respectively, whereas other treatments failed to show a decreasing trend. Intriguingly, Cu stress increased the active component contents in plant roots, and they could also be enhanced beyond non-stress levels when microbial inoculant and microalgae were applied together or in combination with biochar. Analyses of plant antioxidant activity, soil properties and rhizosphere microorganisms indicated that these amendments may alleviate Cu stress by enhancing peroxidase activity, facilitating plant nutrient absorption, and enriching beneficial microorganisms capable of promoting plant growth and mitigating heavy metal-induced damage. This study suggests that the combined application of microbial inoculant and microalgae can reduce Cu levels in Salvia miltiorrhiza while enhancing its quality under Cu stress.

Abstract
ETHNOPHARMACOLOGICAL RELEVANCE The rhizome of Kaempferia galanga L., a medicinal and edible Plant, was widely distributed in many Asian and African counties. It has been traditionally used to treat gastroenteritis, hypertension, rheumatism and asthma. However, there is a lack of modern pharmacology studies regarding its anti-gastric ulcer activity. AIM OF THE STUDY The objective of this study is to investigate the protective effects of an extract from K. galanga L. rhizome (Kge) and its active components kaempferol and luteolin on ethanol-induced gastric ulcer. MATERIALS AND METHODS The kge was prepared by ultrasonic-assisted extraction, and the contents of kaempferol and luteolin were determined by HPLC. The mice were randomly divided into seven groups: blank control (0.5 % CMC-Na; 0.1 mL/10 g), untreatment (0.5 % CMC-Na; 0.1 mL/10 g), Kge (100, 200 and 400 mg/kg), kaempferol (100 mg/kg) and luteolin (100 mg/kg) groups. The mice were treated intragastrically once daily for 7 days. At 1 h post the last administration, the mice in all groups except the blank control group were intragastrically administrated with anhydrous alcohol (0.1 mL/10 g) once to induce gastric ulcer. Then, fasting was continued for 1 h, followed by sample collection for evaluation by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay and real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction assay. RESULTS The contents of kaempferol and luteolin in Kge were determined as 3713 μg/g and 2510 μg/g, respectively. Alcohol induced severely damages with edema, inflammatory cell infiltration and bleeding, and the ulcer index was 17.63 %. After pre-treatment with Kge (100, 200 and 400 mg/kg), kaempferol and luteolin, the pathological lesions were obviously alleviated and ulcer indices were reduced to 13.42 %, 11.65 %, 6.54 %, 3.58 % and 3.85 %, respectively. In untreated group, the contents of Ca2+, myeloperoxidase, malondialdehyde, NO, cyclic adenosine monophosphate and histamine were significantly increased, while the contents of hexosamine, superoxide dismutase, glutathione peroxidase, and prostaglandin E2 were significantly decreased; the transcriptional levels of IL-1α, IL-1β, IL-6, calcitonin gene related peptide, substance P, M3 muscarinic acetylcholine receptor, histamine H2 receptor, cholecystokinin 2 receptor and H+/K+ ATPase were significantly increased when compared with the blank control group. After pre-treatment, all of these changes were alleviated, even returned to normal levels. Kge exhibited anti-gastric ulcer activity and the high dose of Kge (400 mg/kg) exhibited comparable activity to that of kaempferol and luteolin. CONCLUSION The study showed that K. galanga L., kaempferol, and luteolin have protective effects against ethanol-induced gastric ulcers. This is achieved by regulating the mucosal barrier, oxidative stress, and gastric regulatory mediators, as well as inhibiting the TRPV1 signaling pathway and gastric acid secretion, ultimately reducing the gastric ulcer index.

Abstract
Objective This study investigated disparities in diabetes and prediabetes prevalence among US children and adolescents using 2019-2021 National Health Interview Survey (NHIS) data. With rising trends in diabetes, understanding prevalence rates and associated disparities is crucial for targeted interventions. Methods Analyzing a cross-sectional sample of 19,490 participants aged 3-17, we employed NHIS data to calculate prevalence rates. Stratification by sociodemographic factors, race/ethnicity, and family income allowed for in-depth analyses. Results Between 2019 and 2021, overall diabetes prevalence was 1.18%, comprising 0.87% prediabetes and 0.46% diabetes rates. Disparities were evident, with higher prediabetes rates in non-Hispanic black and Hispanic children and elevated diabetes rates in non-Hispanic white and Hispanic children. Subgroup analyses revealed associations within age, gender, education, and income strata. Conclusions The study highlighted potential increases in diabetes prevalence from 2017 to 2021 and persistent racial/ethnic disparities. The 12-17 age subgroup exhibited significant disparities, emphasizing the need for early intervention. Targeted strategies were imperative to mitigate diabetes and prediabetes prevalence in vulnerable populations, particularly non-Hispanic black and Hispanic children. This study underscored the urgency of addressing health disparities for improved overall well-being and healthcare outcomes.

Abstract
An O1/W/O2 double emulsion gel, as a functional fat substitute and based on nanoemulsions and hydrophobic Pickering particles, is prepared by two-step emulsification to co-encapsulate hydrophilic cyanidin and hydrophobic quercetin. Nanoemulsions loading quercetin are fabricated by Tween-80 and combining high-speed and high-pressure emulsification. Phytosterol nanoparticles stabilize the W-O2 interface of the secondary emulsion to load cyanidin in the W phase. The concentration of Tween-80 is optimized as 0.3% by the droplet size and viscosity of nanoemulsions. The structural stability of double emulsion gels will be weakened along with the increase of nanoemulsions, showing lower modulus and encapsulation efficiency (EE) and bigger droplets. In double emulsion gels, the EE of quercetin and cyanidin reaches 93% and 85.6%, respectively. Analysis of molecular interaction indicates that Tween-80 would decrease the in-situ hydrophobicity of phytosterol nanoparticles by hydrogen bonding adsorption, thereby weakening the emulsification. The pH-chromic 3D printing of double emulsion gels is designed according to the pH sensitivity of cyanidin. Texture profile analysis is performed to test the textural properties of 3D-printed objects. The simulated digestion is conducted on double emulsion gels. The double emulsion gel with fewer nanoemulsions is beneficial for protecting quercetin and improving the delivery due to the higher structural stability, while that with more nanoemulsions is conducive to the digestion of cyanidin and camellia oil due to weakened semi-solid properties. This double emulsion gel further simulates fat tissues by co-encapsulating hydrophilic and hydrophobic substances, promoting the application of fat substitutes in the food industry.

Abstract
IMPORTANCE Medication nonadherence leads to worse health outcomes, increased healthcare service utilization, and increased overall healthcare costs. OBJECTIVE To determine whether a discharge pharmacy located in the Emergency Department (ED) reduces ED revisits and hospitalizations. DESIGN This is a cohort study where we extracted data from our electronic medical records with adult encounters between 12/2019-10/2021. For the purpose of this study, we defined a revisit to the ED as within 7 days and an admission within 30 days from prior initial ED visit. SETTING The University of Chicago Medicine is an academic medical center located in Chicago's South Side. PARTICIPANTS Between dates of 12/2019-11/2021, we had 78,660 adult distinct encounters. We created 5 different groups: no medications prescribed, ED discharge pharmacy only, e-prescriptions to outside pharmacies, combination of ED pharmacy and e-prescription sent elsewhere, and printed prescriptions with or without any e-prescriptions. EXPOSURE Our ED pharmacy is located within the adult ED, serving only patients seen and discharged from the adult ED. MAIN OUTCOME(S) AND MEASURE(S) Our primary endpoint is to evaluate if prescribing and dispensing prescriptions from only our ED pharmacy is associated with decreased ED revisits within 7 days and reduced hospitalizations within 30 days of initial ED visit. RESULTS When comparing patients who received prescriptions only from the ED discharge pharmacy, patients who received no prescriptions were 31.6% (P < 0.001) more likely to revisit our ED, and patients who received e-prescriptions sent to other pharmacies were 10.4% (P = 0.017) more likely to revisit. Patients who received e-prescriptions from other pharmacies were 29.2% (P < 0.001) more likely to be hospitalized and mixture of e-prescriptions were 59.5% (P < 0.001) more likely to be hospitalized compared to the ED pharmacy only group. CONCLUSIONS AND RELEVANCE We believe having a pharmacy providing medications to patients being discharged from the ED reduces barriers like cost, transportation, and pharmacy access patients face trying to fill prescriptions at their local pharmacy. All of these reductions in barriers provides an easier and more convenient method for patients to obtain their medications at discharge from the ED, reducing the risk of a repeat ED visit and subsequent hospital admission.

Abstract
AIM To compare 1-year outcomes of computed tomography venography (CTV) combined with ultrasound-guided minimally invasive treatment with ascending phlebography and ultrasound-guided treatment for recurrent varicose veins. MATERIALS AND METHODS Consecutive patients with unilateral recurrent varicose veins were matched by gender, age, C classification, and degree of obesity, and randomised in a 1:1 ratio to receive either CTV (CTV group) or ascending phlebography (control group) combined with ultrasound-guided minimally invasive treatment. Patients were followed up by clinical and ultrasound examination. Follow-up was scheduled at 1 week, and 3, 6, and 12 months. The primary outcome measure was the Venous Clinical Severity Score (VCSS) at 12 months. Measures of secondary outcome included Chronic Insufficiency Venous International Questionnaire-20 (CIVIQ-20) score, recurrence of varicose vein or ulcer during 12 months, ulcer healing time, detection and location of treated veins. RESULTS Eighty patients were enrolled. Median VCSS in the CTV group was lower than it in the control group (p=0.04) and the CIVIQ-20 score was higher than the control group (p=0.02). By 12 months, no symptomatically recurrent varicose veins or ulcers had occurred. The ulcer healing time in CTV group was shorter (p<0.01). A greater number of patients had treated veins detected using CTV than by ascending venography (p=0.01), especially among patients with recurrence reflux veins in the groin, perineum, and vulva (p<0.01). CONCLUSION CTV combined with ultrasound may be more helpful than ascending phlebography combined with ultrasound to improve treatment efficacy for recurrent varices. These results should be verified by an future study with more patients and long-term follow-up.

Abstract
This study identified the intrinsic relationships among slurry rheology, particle characteristics, and lignocellulosic liquefaction/saccharification based on correlation analysis and principal component analysis during the hydrolysis of sugarcane bagasse pretreated by deep eutectic solvents (DES) and mechanical milling (MM). The DES-MM pretreated lignocellulosic slurry (20% solids) exhibited high apparent viscosity of 1.4 × 104 Pa·s and shear stress of 929.0 Pa under steady state. Glucose production had a negative linear correlation with slurry viscosity (R2, 0.69-0.97), whereas its correlation with yield stress (R2, 0.85-0.98) depended on the particle liquefaction rate. The availability of free water provided a major contribution to improving slurry rheology. However, the size reduction of submillimeter particles and the changes in particle hydrophilicity during liquefaction were not significantly correlated with rheological changes. Various interrelated particle characteristics and rheological changes were integrated into two simple principal variables to predict glucose production with a high R2 of 0.96.

Abstract
Obesity has significant repercussions for female reproductive health, including adverse effects on oocyte quality, fertility, embryo development and offspring health. Here, we showed that intermittent fasting (IF) has several notable effects on follicular development, oocyte development and maturation and offspring health in obese mice. IF treatment prevents obesity-associated germline-soma communication defects, mitochondrial dysfunction, oxidative damage, apoptosis, and spindle/chromosomal disruption. RNA-sequencing analysis of oocytes from normal diet (ND), high-fat diet (HFD), and HFD + IF mice indicated that IF treatment improved mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation function and mRNA storage and translation, which was potentially mediated by the Smith-like family member 14 B (LSM14B). Knockdown of LSM14B by siRNA injection in oocytes from ND mice recapitulates all the translation, mitochondrial dysfunction and meiotic defect phenotypes of oocytes from HFD mice. Remarkably, the injection of Lsm14b mRNA into oocytes from HFD mice rescued the translation, mitochondrial dysfunction and meiotic defect phenotypes. These results demonstrated that dysfunction in the oocyte translation program is associated with obesity-induced meiotic defects, while IF treatment increased LSM14B expression and maternal mRNA translation and restored oocyte quality. This research has important implications for understanding the effects of obesity on female reproductive health and offers a potential nonpharmacological intervention to improve oocyte quality and fertility in obese individuals.

Abstract
Collaborative cooperation (CC) and division of labor cooperation (DLC) are two prevalent forms of cooperative problem-solving approaches in daily life. Despite extensive research on the neural mechanisms underlying cooperative problem-solving approaches, a notable gap exists between the neural processes that support CC and DLC. The present study utilized a functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) hyperscanning technique along with a classic cooperative tangram puzzle task to investigate the neural mechanisms engaged by both friends and stranger dyads during CC versus DLC. The key findings of this study were as follows: (1) Dyads exhibited superior behavioral performance in the DLC task than in the CC task. The CC task bolstered intra-brain functional connectivity and inter-brain synchrony (IBS) in regions linked to the mirror neuron system (MNS), spatial perception (SP) and cognitive control. (2) Friend dyads showed stronger IBS in brain regions associated with the MNS than stranger dyads. (3) Perspective-taking predicted not only dyads' behavioral performance in the CC task but also their IBS in brain regions associated with SP during the DLC task. Taken together, these findings elucidate the divergent behavioral performance and neural connection patterns between the two cooperative problem-solving approaches. This study provides novel insights into the various neurocognitive processes underlying flexible coordination strategies in real-world cooperative contexts.

Abstract
AIM To enhance the prediction of mutation status of isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH) and telomerase reverse transcriptase (TERT) promoter, which are crucial for glioma prognostication and therapeutic decision-making, via sub-regional radiomics analysis based on multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). MATERIALS AND METHODS A retrospective study was conducted on 401 participants with adult-type diffuse gliomas. Employing the K-means algorithm, tumours were clustered into two to four subregions. Sub-regional radiomics features were extracted and selected using the Mann-Whitney U-test, Pearson correlation analysis, and least absolute shrinkage and selection operator, forming the basis for predictive models. The performance of model combinations of different sub-regional features and classifiers (including logistic regression, support vector machines, K-nearest neighbour, light gradient boosting machine, and multilayer perceptron) was evaluated using an external test set. RESULTS The models demonstrated high predictive performance, with area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) values ranging from 0.918 to 0.994 in the training set for IDH mutation prediction and from 0.758 to 0.939 for TERT promoter mutation prediction. In the external test sets, the two-cluster radiomics features and the logistic regression model yielded the highest prediction for IDH mutation, resulting in an AUC of 0.905. Additionally, the most effective predictive performance with an AUC of 0.803 was achieved using the four-cluster radiomics features and the support vector machine model, specifically for TERT promoter mutation prediction. CONCLUSION The present study underscores the potential of sub-regional radiomics analysis in predicting IDH and TERT promoter mutations in glioma patients. These models have the capacity to refine preoperative glioma diagnosis and contribute to personalised therapeutic interventions for patients.

Abstract
Low Na+ and electron diffusion kinetics severely restrain the rate capability of MoS2 as anode for sodium-ion batteries (SIBs). Slow phase transitions between 2H and 1T, and from NaxMoS2 to Mo and Na2S as well as the volume change during cycling, induce a poor cycling stability. Herein, an original Fe single atom doped MoS2 hollow multishelled structure (HoMS) is designed for the first time to address the above challenges. The Fe single atom in MoS2 promotes the electron transfer, companying with shortened charge diffusion path from unique HoMS, thereby achieving excellent rate capability. The strong adsorption with Na+ and self-catalysis of Fe single atom facilitates the reversible conversion between 2H and 1T, and from NaxMoS2 to Mo and Na2S. Moreover, the buffering effect of HoMS on volume change during cycling improves the cyclic stability. Consequently, the Fe single atom doped MoS2 quadruple-shelled sphere exhibits a high specific capacity of 213.3 mAh g-1 at an ultrahigh current density of 30 A g-1, which is superior to previously-reported results. Even at 5 A g-1, 259.4 mAh g-1 (83.68 %) was reserved after 500 cycles. Such elaborate catalytic site decorated HoMS is also promising to realize other "fast-charging" high-energy-density rechargeable batteries.

Abstract
The investigation of high-performance supercapacitors is essential for accelerating the development of energy storage devices. In this work, a 3D hierarchical nanosheet array-like nickel cobaltite/reduced graphene oxide/nickel foam composite (NiCo2O4/rGO/NF) was assembled via an aqueous coprecipitation-hydrothermal strategy assisted by citric acid. Benefiting from a NiCo layered-double-hydroxide precursor with an atomic-level lattice confinement effect of metal ions and effective hybridization with rGO, the NiCo2O4/rGO/NF composite is featured as thin NiCo2O4 nanosheets (∼113.6 nm × 11.2 nm) composed of NiCo2O4 nanoparticles (∼10.9 nm) vertically staggered on the surface of a rGO-modified NF skeleton, leading to high surface area, abundant mesoporous structure, and active site exposure. The as-obtained NiCo2O4/rGO/NF was directly used as a binder-free integrated electrode for supercapacitors, achieving an excellent specific capacitance of 2863.4 F g-1 (1503.3 C g-1) at 1 A g-1, a superior rate performance of 2335.2 F g-1 at 20 A g-1, and a stability retention of 91.7% after 5000 cycles. More impressively, a solid-state asymmetric supercapacitor assembled by the present NiCo2O4/rGO/NF integrated electrode as the positive electrode and commercial activated carbon as the negative electrode achieved a high energy density of 69.2 Wh kg-1 at a power density of 800 W kg-1, and the energy density at a peak power density of 20004 W kg-1 still remained at 48.9 Wh kg-1, also showing a good cycling stability of 87.2% retention over 10000 cycles. The present facile synthesis strategy of the as-obtained NiCo2O4/rGO/NF nanosheet array composite can be used for the design and construction of many other transition-metal oxide/graphene/NF composite materials with excellent structural stability and performance in energy storage and other related areas.

Abstract
The metastasis and recurrence of cancer are related to immunosuppression and hypoxia in the tumor microenvironment. Activating immune activity and improving the hypoxic environment face essential challenges. This paper reports on a multifunctional nanomaterial, HSCCMBC, that induces immunogenic cell death through powerful photodynamic therapy/chemodynamic therapy synergistic antitumor effects. The tumor microenvironment changed from the immunosuppressive type to immune type, activated the immune activity of the system, decomposed hydrogen peroxide to generate oxygen based on Fenton-like reaction, and effectively increased the level of intracellular O2 with the assistance of 3-bromopyruvate, a cell respiratory inhibitor. The structure and composition of HSCCMBC were characterized by transmission electron microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, infrared spectroscopy, etc. Oxygen probe RDPP was used to investigate the oxygen level inside and outside the cell, and hydroxyl radical probe tetramethylbenzidine was used to investigate the Fenton-like reaction ability. The immunofluorescence method investigated the expression of various immune markers and hypoxia-inducing factors in vitro and in vivo after treatment. In vitro and in vivo experiments indicate that HSCCMBC is an excellent antitumor agent and is expected to be a candidate drug for antitumor immunotherapy.

Abstract
Liver and lung tissue damage caused by sepsis still one of the causes of death. Blimp-1 has a protective role in inflammation-related disease. However, whether Blimp-1 can regulate cell pyroptosis and affect disease progression in sepsis is still unclear. Animal and cell models were established by cecal ligation and puncture (CLP) method and LPS-induced RAW 264.7 cells respectively, and the role of Blimp-1 in regulation inflammatory response and pyroptosis was verified. The changes of inflammation and pyroptosis in liver and lung tissues of septic mice were determined by the addition of TAK-242 (TLR4 inhibitor). Cell pyroptosis and the level of inflammation was detected after Blimp-1 knockdown and TAK-242 treatment in the cell model. The expression of Blimp-1 was continuously increased in a septic mice model. After treatment with TAK-242, the expression of Blimp-1, pyroptosis and inflammatory levels were reduced in mice. In LPS-induced cell model, cell injury by knockout Blimp-1 was increased, and cell activity was restored after TAK-242 intervention. Our study had shown that Blimp-1 could improve septic damage by regulating the level of cellular inflammation and pyroptosis in sepsis.

Abstract
Daidzein (DAN) is an isoflavone, and it is often found in its natural form in soybean and food supplements. DAN has poor bioavailability owing to its extremely low water solubility and first-pass metabolism. Herein, we hypothesized that a bioactivatable natural amino acid-bearing carbamate prodrug strategy could increase the water solubility and metabolic stability of DAN. To test our hypothesis, nine amino acid prodrugs of DAN were designed and synthesized. Compared with DAN, the optimal prodrug (daidzein-4'-O-CO-N-isoleucine, D-4'-I) demonstrated enhanced water solubility and improved phase II metabolic stability and activation to DAN in plasma. In addition, unlike the passive transport of DAN, D-4'-I maintained high permeability via organic anion-transporting polypeptide 2B1 (OATP2B1)-mediated transport. Importantly, D-4'-I increased the oral bioavailability by 15.5-fold, reduced the gender difference, and extended the linear absorption capacity in the pharmacokinetics of DAN in rats. Furthermore, D-4'-I exhibited dose-dependent protection against liver injury. Thus, the natural amino acid-bearing carbamate prodrug strategy shows potential in increasing water solubility and improving phase II metabolic stability to enhance the oral bioavailability of DAN.

Abstract
Polymyxin B (PMB) is considered a last-line treatment for multidrug-resistant (MDR) gram-negative bacterial infections. Model-informed precision dosing with population pharmacokinetics (PopPK) models could help to individualize PMB dosing regimens and improve therapy. However, the external prediction ability of the established PopPK models has not been fully elaborated. This study aimed to systemically evaluate eleven PMB PopPK models from ten published literature based on a new independent population, which was divided into four different populations, patients with liver dysfunction, kidney dysfunction, liver and kidney dysfunction, and normal liver and kidney function. The whole data set consisted of 146 patients with 391 PMB concentrations. The prediction- and simulation-based diagnostics and Bayesian forecasting were conducted to evaluate model predictability. In the overall evaluation process, none of the models exhibited satisfactory predictive ability in both prediction- and simulation-based diagnostic simultaneously. However, the evaluation of the models in the subgroup of patients with normal liver and kidney function revealed improved predictive performance compared to those with liver and/or kidney dysfunction. Bayesian forecasting demonstrated enhanced predictability with the incorporation of two to three prior observations. The external evaluation highlighted a lack of consistency between the prediction results of published models and the external validation dataset. Nonetheless, Bayesian forecasting holds promise in improving the predictive performance of the models, and feedback from therapeutic drug monitoring is crucial in optimizing individual dosing regimens.

Abstract
Mycoplasma species are able to produce and release secreted proteins, such as toxins, adhesins, and virulence-related enzymes, involved in bacteria adhesion, invasion, and immune evasion between the pathogen and host. Here, we investigated a novel secreted protein, MbovP0725, from Mycoplasma bovis encoding a putative haloacid dehalogenase (HAD) hydrolase function of a key serine/threonine phosphatase depending on Mg2+ for the dephosphorylation of its substrate pNPP, and it was most active at pH 8 to 9 and temperatures around 40°C. A transposon insertion mutant strain of M. bovis HB0801 that lacked the protein MbovP0725 induced a stronger inflammatory response but with a partial reduction of adhesion ability. Using transcriptome sequencing and quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction analysis, we found that the mutant was upregulated by the mRNA expression of genes from the glycolysis pathway, while downregulated by the genes enriched in ABC transporters and acetate kinase-phosphate acetyltransferase pathway. Untargeted metabolomics showed that the disruption of the Mbov_0725 gene caused the accumulation of 9-hydroxyoctadecadienoic acids and the consumption of cytidine 5'-monophosphate, uridine monophosphate, and adenosine monophosphate. Both the exogenous and endogenous MbvoP0725 protein created by purification and transfection inhibited lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced IL-1β, IL-6, and TNF-α mRNA production and could also attenuate the activation of MAPK-associated pathways after LPS treatment. A pull-down assay identified MAPK p38 and ERK as potential substrates for MbovP0725. These findings define metabolism- and virulence-related roles for a HAD family phosphatase and reveal its ability to inhibit the host pro-inflammatory response. IMPORTANCE Mycoplasma bovis (M. bovis) infection is characterized by chronic pneumonia, otitis, arthritis, and mastitis, among others, and tends to involve the suppression of the immune response via multiple strategies to avoid host cell immune clearance. This study found that MbovP0725, a haloacid dehalogenase (HAD) family phosphatase secreted by M. bovis, had the ability to inhibit the host pro-inflammatory response induced by lipopolysaccharide. Transcriptomic and metabolomic analyses were used to identify MbovP0725 as an important phosphatase involved in glycolysis and nucleotide metabolism. The M. bovis transposon mutant strain T8.66 lacking MbovP0725 induced a higher inflammatory response and exhibited weaker adhesion to host cells. Additionally, T8.66 attenuated the phosphorylation of MAPK P38 and ERK and interacted with the two targets. These results suggested that MbovP0725 had the virulence- and metabolism-related role of a HAD family phosphatase, performing an anti-inflammatory response during M. bovis infection.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Branchio-oto-renal syndrome (BOR, OMIM#113,650) is a rare autosomal dominant disorder that presents with a variety of symptoms, including hearing loss (sensorineural, conductive, or mixed), structural abnormalities affecting the outer, middle, and inner ear, branchial fistulas or cysts, as well as renal abnormalities.This study aims to identify the pathogenic variants by performing genetic testing on a family with Branchio-oto-renal /Branchio-otic (BO, OMIM#602,588) syndrome using whole-exome sequencing, and to explore possible pathogenic mechanisms. METHODS The family spans 4 generations and consists of 9 individuals, including 4 affected by the BOR/BO syndrome. Phenotypic information, including ear malformation and branchial cleft, was collected from family members. Audiological, temporal bone imaging, and renal ultrasound examinations were also performed. Whole-exome sequencing was conducted to identify candidate pathogenic variants and explore the underlying molecular etiology of BOR/BO syndrome by minigene experiments. RESULTS Intra-familial variability was observed in the clinical phenotypes of BOR/BO syndrome in this family. The severity and nature of hearing loss varied in family members, with mixed or sensorineural hearing loss. The proband, in particular, had profound sensorineural hearing loss on the left and moderate conductive hearing loss on the right. Additionally, the proband exhibited developmental delay, and her mother experienced renal failure during pregnancy and terminated the pregnancy prematurely. Genetic testing revealed a novel heterozygous variant NM_000503.6: c.639 + 3 A > C in the EYA1 gene in affected family members. In vitro minigene experiments demonstrated its effect on splicing. According to the American College of Medical Genetics (ACMG) guidelines, this variant was classified as likely pathogenic. CONCLUSION This study highlights the phenotypic heterogeneity within the same family, reports the occurrence of renal failure and adverse pregnancy outcomes in a female patient at reproductive age with BOR syndrome, and enriches the mutational spectrum of pathogenic variants in the EYA1 gene.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Syphilis is an infectious disease caused by Treponema pallidum that can invade the central nervous system, causing encephalitis. Few cases of anti-N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor autoimmune encephalitis (AE) secondary to neurosyphilis have been reported. We report a neurosyphilis patient with anti-γ-aminobutyric acid-B receptor (GABABR) AE.
CASE SUMMARY A young man in his 30s who presented with acute epileptic status was admitted to a local hospital. He was diagnosed with neurosyphilis, according to serum and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) tests for syphilis. After 14 d of antiepileptic treatment and anti-Treponema pallidum therapy with penicillin, epilepsy was controlled but serious cognitive impairment, behavioral, and serious psychiatric symptoms were observed. He was then transferred to our hospital. The Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) crude test results showed only 2 points. Cranial magnetic resonance imaging revealed significant cerebral atrophy and multiple fluid-attenuated inversion recovery high signals in the white matter surrounding both lateral ventricles, left amygdala and bilateral thalami. Anti-GABABR antibodies were discovered in CSF (1:3.2) and serum (1:100). The patient was diagnosed with neurosyphilis complicated by anti-GABABR AE, and received methylprednisolone and penicillin. Following treatment, his mental symptoms were alleviated. Cognitive impairment was significantly improved, with a MMSE of 8 points. Serum anti-GABABR antibody titer decreased to 1:32. The patient received methylprednisolone and penicillin after discharge. Three months later, the patient’s condition was stable, but the serum anti-GABABR antibody titer was 1:100.
CONCLUSION This patient with neurosyphilis combined with anti-GABABR encephalitis benefited from immunotherapy.

Abstract
Chiral metal-organic framework (CMOFs) is a kind of material with great application value in recent years. Formed by the coordination of metal ions or metal clusters with organic ligands. It is widely used in chemistry, biology, medicine and materials science because of its ordered and adjustable pores, multi-dimensional network structure, large specific surface area and excellent adsorption properties. In this paper, the synthesis strategies and preparation methods of chiral metal-organic frameworks are reviewed. In addition, the applications of chiral metal-organic framework materials in enantiomer recognition and separation, circularly polarized luminescence and asymmetric catalysis are systematically summarized. Finally, the challenges and prospects of the development of chiral metal-organic frame materials are analyzed in detail.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Pseudobulbar palsy is a common symptom in patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), but it is often underdiagnosed or misdiagnosed as other diseases. The Center for Neurologic Study Lability Scale (CNS-LS) is a self-report scale consisting of seven questions designed for evaluating pseudobulbar affect (PBA). The current study aimed to validate a Chinese version of the CNS-LS. METHODS The Chinese version of the CNS-LS was obtained through a standardized forward-backward translation and cultural adaptation. A total of 105 patients with ALS were recruited from the ALS database of Peking University Third Hospital in Beijing, China, to complete the CNS-LS. The reliability of the Chinese version was determined by the test-retest method, and receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis was performed for criterion validity. RESULTS Of 105 patients with ALS, 37 had symptoms of PBA and were diagnosed with that condition by neurologists. Forty-two patients completed the CNS-LS twice, and there was no statistically significant difference between the scores (Z = -0.896, p = 0.37). The Spearman correlation coefficient between the test and retest scores was 0.940 (p < 0.0005), and the Cronbach alpha coefficient was high (α = 0.905, n = 105). Scores of 12 or higher on the CNS-LS identified PBA with sensitivity of 0.919 and specificity of 0.882. The area under the ROC curve was 0.924. CONCLUSION The Chinese version of the CNS-LS demonstrated good sensitivity and specificity in the group of patients with ALS enrolled in this study. The CNS-LS should be a useful instrument for clinical and research purposes for patients in this language group.

Abstract
Both oocyte secretory factors (OSFs) and estrogen are essential for the development and function of mammalian ovarian follicles, playing synergistic role in regulating oocyte growth. OSFs can significantly affect the biological processes regulated by estrogen in cumulus cells (CCs). It is a scientific question worth investigating whether oocyte secretory factors can influence the expression of estrogen receptors in CCs. In our study, we observed a significant increase in the mRNA and protein expressions of estrogen receptor β (Esr2/ERβ) and G-protein-coupled estrogen receptor (GPER) in cumulus cells of goat cumulus-oocyte complexes (COCs) cultured in vitro for 6 h. Furthermore, the addition of 10 ng/mL growth-differentiation factor 9 (GDF9) and 5 ng/mL bone morphogenetic protein 15 (BMP15) to the culture medium of goat COCs resulted in a significant increase in the expressions of ERβ and GPER in cumulus cells. To explore the mechanism further, we performed micromanipulation to remove oocyte contents and co-cultured the oocytectomized complexes (OOXs) with denuded oocytes (DOs) or GDF9/BMP15. The expressions of ERβ and GPER in the co-culture groups were significantly higher than those in the OOXs group, but there was no difference compared to the COCs group. Mechanistically, we found that SB431542 (inhibitor of GDF9 bioactivity), but not LDN193189 (inhibitor of BMP15 bioactivity), abolished the upregulation of ERβ and GPER in cumulus cells and the activation of Smad2/3 signaling. In conclusion, our results demonstrate that the oocyte secretory factor GDF9 promotes the activation of Smad2/3 signaling in cumulus cells during goat COCs culture in vitro, and the phosphorylation of Smad2/3 induces the expression of estrogen receptors ERβ and GPER in cumulus cells.

Abstract
PURPOSE We recently reported on clinical trials for patients with recurrent glioblastoma where low-intensity pulsed ultrasound and microbubbles (LIPU/MB) improved paclitaxel or carboplatin delivery into the brain. Here, we report variable local tumor control with paclitaxel at the maximal/target dose in our phase I trial (NCT04528680). To address this, we investigated the combination of paclitaxel with carboplatin in preclinical glioma models. EXPERIMENTAL DESIGN We performed MRI-based analysis to evaluate disease control in patients from our trial. We studied the cytotoxicity of paclitaxel and carboplatin against 11 human glioma lines as monotherapy and in combination at concentrations derived from human intraoperative studies. Synergy was assessed with the Loewe model and the survival benefit evaluated in two xenografts. We examined the effects on cell cycle progression, DNA damage, and apoptosis. RESULTS Patients treated with paclitaxel and LIPU/MB exhibited variable local tumor control, which correlated with overall survival. We observed limited cross-resistance to paclitaxel and carboplatin in glioma lines, with almost a third of them being exclusively susceptible to one drug. This combination led to susceptibility of 81% of lines and synergy in 55% of them. The combination proved more efficacious in two intracranial xenografts when administered with LIPU/MB, leading to complementary effects on cell cycle arrest. CONCLUSIONS Combining paclitaxel and carboplatin in gliomas may be more efficacious than monotherapy, as in other cancers, due to synergy and independent susceptibility to each drug. These results form the basis for an ongoing phase II trial (NCT04528680) where we investigate this combination with LIPU/MB.

Abstract
Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD MIM#310200) is a degenerative muscle disease caused by mutations in the dystrophin gene located on Xp21.2. The clinical features encompass muscle weakness and markedly elevated serum creatine kinase levels. An 8-year-old Chinese boy was diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD). Whole exome gene sequencing was conducted and the Sanger method was used to validate sequencing. A deletion (c.5021del) in exon 35 of the dystrophin gene was identified, which was predicted to generate a frameshift mutation and create an early termination codon (p.Leu1674CysfsTer47). It has a pathogenic effect against dystrophin in the muscle cell membrane of the patient. As such, prednisone treatment at a dose of 0.75 mg/kg.d was administered. After one month, a notable reduction in fall frequency was observed. Our new finding will expand the pathogenic mutation spectrum causing DMD.

Abstract
Purpose To investigate the proportion of zonulopathy in patients with age-related cataract, and further explore demographics and ocular characteristics, as well as potential risk factors. Methods Hospital-based, observational, cross-sectional study. We enrolled consecutive patients who were 45 years or older and diagnosed with age-related cataract and underwent surgery between October 2022 and April 2023 at the Division of Cataract, Beijing Tongren Hospital. Zonulopathy was diagnosed based on intraoperative signs. We calculated the total proportion, age, and gender specific proportions of zonulopathy. We compared the demographic and ocular characteristics between the cases with and without zonulopathy. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were employed to determine the risk factors associated with the presence of zonulopathy in patients with age-related cataract. Results A total of 640 age-related cataract patients with a median age of 70.0 (64.0-77.0) were enrolled. Zonulopathy was diagnosed intraoperatively in 70 patients (10.9%). Compared with the patients having no zonulopathy, those with zonulopathy were likely to be older (P < 0.001), have a shallower central ACD (P < 0.001), a thicker lens (P < 0.001) and a shorter AL (P = 0.010). Logistic regression analyses showed that the risk predictors associated with the presence of zonulopathy in patients with age-related cataract were older age (OR, 1.042; P = 0.035) and shallower central ACD (OR, 0.834; P < 0.001). Conclusion Zonulopathy in age-related cataract patients is not an uncommon finding. Clinicians should be mindful of zonulopathy in patient population with advanced age and shallower ACD.

Abstract
Table tennis is a sport that demands high levels of technical proficiency and body coordination from players. Biomechanical fingerprints can provide valuable insights into players' habitual movement patterns and characteristics, allowing them to identify and improve technical weaknesses. Despite the potential, few studies have developed effective methods for generating such fingerprints. To address this gap, we propose TacPrint, a framework for generating a biomechanical fingerprint for each player. TacPrint leverages machine learning techniques to extract comprehensive features from biomechanics data collected by inertial measurement units (IMU) and employs the attention mechanism to enhance model interpretability. After generating fingerprints, TacPrint provides a visualization system to facilitate the exploration and investigation of these fingerprints. In order to validate the effectiveness of the framework, we designed an experiment to evaluate the model's performance and conducted a case study with the system. The results of our experiment demonstrated the high accuracy and effectiveness of the model. Additionally, we discussed the potential of TacPrint to be extended to other sports.

Abstract
Background Ultra-early inflammatory reaction after spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage (sICH) plays an important role in the coagulation process and is closely related to early hematoma expansion. However, the relationship between ultra-early hematoma growth (uHG) and ultra-early inflammatory reaction remains unknown. Objective To evaluate the association between ultra-early inflammatory indicators and uHG in patients with sICH. Methods We retrospectively included 225 patients with acute sICH who were divided into the uHG ≤4.7 ml/h group and the uHG >4.7 ml/h group, respectively. The uHG was defined as hematoma volume (milliliter) at the primary computed tomography (CT) scan divided by time (hour) from onset to the performance of primary CT within 6 h after onset. The white blood cells (WBC), blood hypersensitive C-reactive protein, National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) score and other related baseline data were collected and compared between the two groups. The multivariate regression analysis and receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve were used to evaluate the independent risk factors for uHG >4.7 ml/h. Results NIHSS score and WBC were independent risk factors for uHG in patients with acute sICH (OR 1.188, 95% CI: 1.111-1.271, p < 0.001; OR 1.151, 95% CI: 1.018-1.300, p = 0.024; respectively). The area under curve of ROC for WBC and NIHSS score was 0.658 and 0.754, respectively (all p < 0.001), while the WBC combined with NIHSS score was 0.773 (p < 0.001). Conclusion WBC count within 6h after onset might be an independent risk factor for the increase of uHG in patients with sICH.

Abstract
AIM Older people with sensory impairment are more likely to have smaller and weaker social network due to their reduced ability, which lowers their quality of life. However, there is little research on the social network in older people with sensory impairment, especially the related factors. The aim of the study was to explore the related factors of social network and to provide evidence for the improvement of social network to promote successful aging in older people with sensory impairment. METHODS A cross-sectional study was conducted among 374 participants for hearing and vision assessment and questionnaire survey in a community, Beijing. Data were collected and analyzed by principal component analysis (PCA) and multiple logistic regression using IBM SPSS 25.0 software. RESULTS PCA showed that there were six risk factors whose eigenvalues >1 were extracted, with a total variance of 56.555%. Multiple logistic regression analysis of principal component indicated that five factors including physical health factor, social interaction factor, psychological status factor, lifestyle factor, and family condition factor, were statistically significant (p < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS The social network of older people with sensory impairment is relatively poor. Physical health factor, social interaction factor, psychological status factor, lifestyle factor, and family condition factor may be related factors. Medical staff should pay attention to physical, psychological and social characteristics of older people, especially with sensory impairment, to carry out necessary measures to improve social network and avoid social isolation.

Abstract
This study evaluated the foaming properties, the dynamic adsorption behavior at the air/water (A/W) interface and the foam rheological characteristics of complexes formed by soy protein isolate (SPI) and different charged polysaccharides, including chitosan (CS), guar gum (GUG) and gellan gum (GEG). The results showed that the SPI/CS10 had the highest initial foam volume (26.67 mL), which were 3.89 %, 100.08 % and 70.19 % higher than that of single SPI, SPI/GUG and SPI/GEG complexes, respectively. Moreover, three charged polysaccharides could all significantly improve the foam stability of complexes. Among them, foams stabilized by SPI/GEG10 were the most stable that the foam volume slightly changed (approximately 1 mL) and no drainage occurred throughout the whole recording process. The interfacial behavior analysis showed that SPI/CS10 had higher diffusion (Kdiff) and rearrangement rate (KR) but lower penetration rate (KP) at the A/W interface compared with single SPI, while SPI/GUG10 and all SPI/GEG complexes showed higher KR and KP but lower Kdiff. In addition, SPI/CS10 was beneficial to concurrently enhance the elastic strength and solid-like behavior of foam system, while all SPI/GEG complexes could improve the elastic strength of foam system but was not conducive to the solid-like behavior.

Abstract
To address the issue of bacterial growth on fresh-cut fruits, this paper reports the synthesis of nanosized γ-cyclodextrin metal-organic frameworks (CD-MOFs) using an ultrasound-assisted method and their application as carriers of limonene for antibacterial active packaging. The effects of the processing parameters on the morphology and crystallinity of the CD-MOFs are investigated, and the results prove that the addition of methanol is the key to producing nanosized CD-MOFs. The limonene loading content of the nanosized CD-MOFs can reach approximately 170 mg g-1. The sustained-release behaviors of limonene in the CD-MOFs are evaluated. Molecular docking simulations reveal the distribution and binding sites of limonene in the CD-MOFs. CD-MOFs are deposited on the surfaces of polycaprolactone (PCL) nanofibers via an immersion method, and limonene-loaded CD-MOF@PCL nanofibers are prepared. The morphology, crystallinity, thermal stability, mechanical properties, and antibacterial activity of the nanofibers are also studied. The nanofiber film effectively inhibits bacterial growth and prolongs the shelf life of fresh-cut apples. This study provides a novel strategy for developing antibacterial active packaging materials based on CD-MOFs and PCL nanofibers.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Chimeric antigen receptor T (CAR-T) cell therapy, as an emerging anti-tumor treatment, has garnered extensive attention in the study of targeted therapy of multiple tumor-associated antigens in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). However, the suppressive microenvironment and individual heterogeneity results in downregulation of these antigens in certain patients' cancer cells. Therefore, optimizing CAR-T cell therapy for HCC is imperative. METHODS In this study, we administered FGFR4-ferritin (FGFR4-HPF) nanoparticles to the alpaca and constructed a phage library of nanobodies (Nbs) derived from alpaca, following which we screened for Nbs targeting FGFR4. Then, we conducted the functional validation of Nbs. Furthermore, we developed Nb-derived CAR-T cells and evaluated their anti-tumor ability against HCC through in vitro and in vivo validation. RESULTS Our findings demonstrated that we successfully obtained high specificity and high affinity Nbs targeting FGFR4 after screening. And the specificity of Nbs targeting FGFR4 was markedly superior to their binding to other members of the FGFR family proteins. Furthermore, the Nb-derived CAR-T cells, targeting FGFR4, exhibited significantly enhanced anti-tumor efficacy in both experiments when in vitro and in vivo. CONCLUSIONS In summary, the results of this study suggest that the CAR-T cells derived from high specificity and high affinity Nbs, targeting FGFR4, exhibited significantly enhanced anti-tumor efficacy in vitro and in vivo. This is an exploration of FGFR4 in the field of Nb-derived CAR-T cell therapy for HCC, holding promise for enhancing safety and effectiveness in the clinical treatment of HCC in the future.

Abstract
Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a multifactorial chronic inflammation of the intestine and has become a global public health concern. A farnesoid X receptor (FXR) was recently reported to play a key role in hepatic-intestinal circulation, intestinal metabolism, immunity, and microbial regulation, and thus, it becomes a promising therapeutic target for IBD. In this study, we identified a series of nonbile acid FXR agonists, in which 33 novel compounds were designed and synthesized by the structure-based drug design strategy from our previously identified hit compound. Compound 33 exhibited a potent FXR agonistic activity, high intestinal distribution, good anti-inflammatory activity, and the ability to repair the colon epithelium in a DSS-induced acute enteritis model. Based on the results of RNA-seq analysis, we further investigated the therapeutic potential of the combination of compound 33 with 5-ASA. Overall, the results indicated that compound 33 is a promising drug candidate for IBD treatment.

Abstract
A high-performance planar structure metal-semiconductor-metal-type solar-blind photodetector (SBPD) was fabricated on the basis of (010)-plane β-Ga2O3 thermally oxidized from nonpolar (110)-plane GaN. A full width at half maximum of 0.486° was achieved for the X-ray rocking curve associated with (020)-plane β-Ga2O3, which is better than most reported results for the heteroepitaxially grown (-201)-plane β-Ga2O3. As a result of the relatively high crystalline quality, a dark current as low as 6.30 × 10-12 A was achieved at 5 V, while the photocurrent reached 1.86 × 10-5 A under 254 nm illumination at 600 μW/cm2. As a result, the photo-to-dark current ratio, specific detectivity, responsivity, and external quantum efficiency were calculated to be 2.95 × 106, 2.39 × 1012 Jones, 3.72 A/W, and 1815%, respectively. Moreover, the SBPD showed excellent repeatability and stability in the time-dependent photoresponse characteristics with fast relaxation time constants for the rise and decay processes of only 0.238 and 0.062 s, respectively. This study provides a promising approach to fabricate the device-level (010)-plane β-Ga2O3 film and a new way for the epitaxial growth of (010)-plane β-Ga2O3 and (110)-plane GaN as mutual substrates.

Abstract
Peanut production is threatened by climate change. Damage to seedlings from low temperatures in early spring can limit yield. Plant adaptations to chilling stress remain unclear in peanut seedlings. It is essential to understand how peanut acquires chilling tolerance. We evaluated effects of chilling stress on growth and recovery of peanut seedlings. We compared and analysed biological characteristics, antioxidants, photosynthesis, biochemical and physiological responses, and nutrient absorption at varying levels of chilling. Compared with chilling-sensitive FH18, the reduced impact of chilling stress on chilling-tolerant NH5 was associated with reduced ROS accumulation, higher ascorbate peroxidase activity and soluble sugar content, lower soluble protein content, and smaller reductions in nutrient content during stress. After removal of chilling stress, FH18 had significant accumulation of O2 •- and H2O2, which decreased photosynthesis, nutrient absorption, and transport. ROS-scavenging reduced damage from chilling stress, allowed remobilization of nutrients, improved chilling tolerance, and restored plant functioning after chilling stress removal. These findings provide a reference for targeted research on peanut seedling tolerance to chilling and lay the foundation for bioinformatics-based research on peanut chilling tolerance mechanisms.

Abstract
Although the conversion of O2 and H2O to H2O2 over graphite carbon nitride (g-C3N4) has been realized by means of the photocatalytic process, the catalytic activity of pristine g-C3N4 is still restricted by the rapid charge recombination and inadequate exposure of the active site. In this work, we propose a straightforward strategy to solve these limitations by decreasing the thickness and improving the crystallinity of g-C3N4, resulting in the preparation of few-layered crystalline carbon nitride (FL-CCN). Benefiting from the minimal thickness and highly ordered in-plane triangular cavities within the structure, FL-CCN processes an extended π-conjugated system with a reduced charge transfer resistance and expanded specific surface area. These features accelerate the efficiency of photogenerated charge separation in FL-CCN and contribute to explore of its surface active sites. Consequently, FL-CCN exhibits a significantly improved H2O2 evolution rate (63.95 μmol g-1 h-1), which is 7.8 times higher than that of pristine g-C3N4 (8.15 μmol g-1 h-1), during the photocatalytic conversion of O2 and H2O. This systematic investigation offers valuable insights into the mechanism of photocatalytic H2O2 generation and the development of efficient catalysts.

Abstract
BACKGROUND There are a few studies on the effectiveness and safety of intravenous administration of tranexamic acid(TXA) in patients who underwent foot and ankle surgery, especially for preoperative hidden blood loss in patients with freshfoot and ankle fractures. Thus, the aim of this study was to investigate whether intravenous administration of different doses of TXA can effectively reduce perioperative blood loss and blood loss before surgery and to determine its safety. METHODS A total of 150 patients with fresh closed foot and ankle fractures from July 2021 to July 2023 were randomly divided into a control group (placebo controlled [PC]), standard-dose group (low-dose group [LD], 1 g/24 h; medium-dose group [MD], 2 g/24 h), and high-dose group (HD, 3 g/24 h; ultrahigh-dose group [UD], 4 g/24 h). After admission, all patients completed hematological examinations as soon as possible and at multiple other time points postsurgery. RESULTS There was a significant difference in the incidence of hidden blood loss before the operation between the TXA group and the control group, and the effect was greater in the overdose groups than in the standard-dose groups. There were significant differences in surgical blood loss (intraoperative and postoperative), postoperative HGB changes, and hidden blood loss among the groups. The TXA groups showed a significant decrease in blood loss compared to that of the control group, and the overdose groups had a more significant effect than the standard-dose groups. A total of 9 patients in the control group had early wound infection or poor healing, while only 1 patient in the other groups had this complication, and the difference among the groups was significant. No patients in any group suffered from late deep wound infection, cardiovascular or cerebrovascular events or symptomatic VTE. CONCLUSION This is the first study on whether TXA can reduce preoperative hidden blood loss in patients with freshfoot and ankle fractures. In our study, on the one hand, intravenous application of TXA after foot and ankle fractures as soon as possible can reduce preoperative blood loss and postoperative blood loss. On the other hand, TXA can also lower wound complications, and over-doses of TXA are more effective than standard doses. Moreover, overdoses of TXA do not increase the incidence of DVT.

Abstract
Excessive peroxynitrite (ONOO-) is closely related to the occurrence and progression of inflammation. Therefore, the development of an efficacious ONOO- activatable probe holds great potential for the early diagnosis of pathological inflammation, and the direct evaluation of the therapeutic efficacy of active protectants. In this work, a new ONOO--activated fluorescent probe (SZP) which greatly improved the specificity and sensitivity (LOD = 8.03 nM) with large Stokes shift (150 nm) through introducing two reaction triggers (diphenyl phosphinate moiety, CC unsaturated bond) was rationally designed for rapid detecting ONOO- (within 2 min). The excellent properties of probe SZP enable it to realize the fluorescence-guided diagnosis of inflammation. More importantly, probe SZP has also been utilized to assess the anti-inflammatory efficacy of traditional Chinese medicines (TCMs) active ingredients for the remediation of inflammation by monitoring ONOO- fluctuation for the first time.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Peptides have been studied in Caenorhabditis elegans for anti-aging research recently. Due to the lack of sufficient evidence, we conducted this meta-analysis focusing on the anti-aging effect of peptides in C. elegans to provide more convincing evidence. RESULTS A literature search in PubMed, SCOUPUS, and Web of Science databases yielded 2879 articles. After removing duplicates and based on inclusion criteria and STAIR checklist quality assessment, 9 articles were selected. Data extraction and analysis showed that, compared to the control group without peptide intervention, peptide supplementation significantly reduced nematode mortality risk (HR= 0.54, 95% CI = 0.47, 0.62; p < 0.05), significantly increased the pharyngeal pumping rate (SMD = 1.64, 95% CI = 0.87, 2.41; p < 0.05), bending frequency (SMD = 1.67, 95% CI =1.16, 2.18; p < 0.05), and significantly decreased the accumulation of lipofuscin levels within nematodes (SMD = -4.48, 95% CI = -6.85, -2.12; p < 0.05). Additionally, subgroup analysis showed that doses ranging from 0.1-1 kg m3 ^-1 (HR= 0.50, 95% CI = 0.38, 0.65; p < 0.05) displayed better anti-aging effects compared to other dose ranges. CONCLUSION The findings suggest that peptides can significantly extend the lifespan of C. elegans under normal circumstances and improve three indicators of healthylife. More importantly, subgroup analysis revealed that a dosage of 0.1-1 kg m3 ^-1 demonstrated superior anti-aging effects. This meta-analysis provides more convincing evidence that peptides can play an anti-aging role in C. elegans. This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved.
