Novel Antitubercular Agents: Design, Synthesis, Molecular Dynamic and Biological Studies of Pyrazole - 1,2,4-Triazole Conjugates

Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) has numerous cell wall and non-cell wall mediated receptors for drug action, of which cell wall mediated targets were found to be more promising because of their pivotal role in bacterial protection and survival. Herein, we reported the design and synthesis of a series of pyrazole-linked triazoles based on the reported structural features of promising drug candidates that target DprE1 receptors through a Structure-based drug design (SBDD) approach (6a-6j and 7a-7j). The synthesized compounds were evaluated for their in-vitro antitubercular activity against virulent strains of Mtb H37Rv. In-silico studies revealed that most compounds exhibit binding interactions with crucial amino acids like Lys418, Tyr314, Tyr60, and Asp386 at DprE1. Furthermore, the protein-ligand (7j) shows appreciable stability compared to innate protein in a 100 ns molecular dynamic simulation study. In-vitro MAB assay revealed that 14 compounds exhibit significant antitubercular activity with minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of the 3.15-4.87 μM of the 20 compounds tested. An in-vitro cytotoxicity study on normal cell lines (MCF10) revealed safe compounds (IC50 values:341.85 to 726.08 μM). Hence, the present study opens the development of new pyrazole-linked triazoles as probable DprE1 inhibitors.

Organophotoredox-mediated Formal [3+2]-Cycloaddition of 2H-Azirines with Aryldiazonium Salts: Direct Access to Trisubstituted 1,2,4-Triazoles

The present work documents an organophotoredox-mediated formal [3+2]-cycloaddition of 2H-azirines with aryl diazonium tetrafluoroborate salts to furnish 1,3,5-trisubstituted 1,2,4-triazoles. The reaction furnishes a regioisomeric mixture of 1,2,4-triazoles in case of unsymmetrically substituted azirines. It is noteworthy that aryl radical generation from diazonium salt under visible light photoredox conditions could be successfully avoided by carefully selecting the reaction conditions.

Synthesis and Antibacterial Evaluation of Ciprofloxacin Congeners with Spirocyclic Amine Periphery

The synthesis of novel fluoroquinolones, congeners of ciprofloxacin, which was inspired by earlier work on spirocyclic ciprofloxacin, is described. An antibacterial evaluation of the 11 fluoroquinolone compounds synthesized against the ESKAPE panel of pathogens in comparison with ciprofloxacin revealed that the more compact spirocycles in the fluoroquinolone periphery resulted in active compounds, while larger congeners gave compounds that displayed no activity at all. In the active cohort, the level of potency was comparable to that of ciprofloxacin. However, the spectrum of antibacterial activity was quite different, as the new compounds showed no activity against Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Among the prepared and tested compounds, the broadest range of activity (five pathogens of the six in the ESKAPE panel) and the highest level of activity were demonstrated by 1-yclopropyl-7-[8-(4-cyclopropyl-4H-1,2,4-triazol-3-yl)-6-azaspiro[3.4]oct-6-yl]-6-fluoro-4-oxo-1,4-dihydroquinoline-3-carboxylic acid, which is the lead compound nominated for further characterization and development.

1,3,4-Thiadiazole and 1,2,4-triazole-5-thione derivatives bearing 2-pentyl-5-phenyl-2,4-dihydro-3H-1,2,4-triazole-3-one ring: Synthesis, molecular docking, urease inhibition, and crystal structure

Two series of 1,3,4-thiadiazole (40a-o) and 1,2,4-triazole-5-thione (41a-l) derivatives bearing a 2-pentyl-5-phenyl-1,2,4-triazole-3-one ring were synthesized and then studied for their urease inhibitory activities using thiourea as a standard drug. Among the two groups, the first group (40a-o) did not show good activity while the second group (41a-l) showed excellent activity. Compound 41j (1091.24 ± 14.02 µM) of the second series of compounds showed lower activity than thiourea, while the remaining 11 compounds (41a-i, k, and l) showed better activity than thiourea (183.92 ± 13.14 µM). Among the 11 compounds, 41b (15.96 ± 2.28 µM) having the 3-F group on the phenyl ring showed the highest inhibitory activity. Urease kinetic studies of 41b, which is the most active compound, determined it to have an un-competitive inhibition potential. Moreover, in silico analysis against urease from jack bean with 27 new heterocyclic compounds and the reference molecule was carried out to see the necessary interactions responsible for urease activity. The docking calculations of all compounds supported stronger binding to the receptor than the reference molecule, with high inhibition constants. In addition, compound 40m was characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. X-ray analysis reveals that the structures of the compound 40m crystallize in the monoclinic P21/c space group with the cell parameters: a = 10.2155(9) Å, b = 22.1709(18) Å, c = 21.4858(17) Å, β = 99.677(8)°, V = 4797.0(7) ų . X-ray diffraction analyses were also performed to gain insights into the role of weak intermolecular interactions and C-H…X (halogen) interactions in compound 40m that influence the crystal packing.

Synthesis, biological evaluation, and molecular modeling studies of acetophenones-tethered 1,2,4-triazoles and their oximes as epidermal growth factor receptor inhibitors

A series of 5-(4-pyridyl)-1,2,4-triazoles hybrids with acetophenones and their oxime derivatives was rationally designed and synthesized as epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) kinase inhibitors. Initially, drug Likeness and pharmacokinetics properties of the prepared compounds were evaluated. Afterward, the prepared compounds were in vitro screened for their ability to inhibit the growth of the NCI-60 human cancer cell lines where certain compounds showed moderate activity. Compounds 4e and 5b emerged as the most potent compounds in this series were further tested for their EGFR enzyme inhibition activity. They showed IC₅₀ values of 0.14 and 0.18 µM, respectively, in comparison with Gefitinib as a reference with an IC₅₀ value of 0.06 µM. Docking of compounds 4e and 5b into the binding site of EGFR tyrosine kinase was performed to explains their possible binding mode and to compare it with known inhibitors. Moreover, molecular dynamic simulations were estimated for deeper understanding of the binding mode of compounds 4e and 5b at the binding site of EGFR tyrosine kinase. The findings indicated that the novel ligands 4e and 5b were stable in the EGFR tyrosine kinase active site.

New 1,2,3-Triazole-Coumarin-Glycoside Hybrids and Their 1,2,4-Triazolyl Thioglycoside Analogs Targeting Mitochondria Apoptotic Pathway: Synthesis, Anticancer Activity and Docking Simulation

Toxicity and resistance to newly synthesized anticancer drugs represent a challenging phenomenon of intensified concern arising from variation in drug targets and consequently the prevalence of the latter concern requires further research. The current research reports the design, synthesis, and anticancer activity of new 1,2,3-triazole-coumarin-glycosyl hybrids and their 1,2,4-triazole thioglycosides as well as acyclic analogs. The cytotoxic activity of the synthesized products was studied against a panel of human cancer cell lines. Compounds 8, 10, 16 and 21 resulted in higher activities against different human cancer cells. The impact of the hybrid derivative 10 upon different apoptotic protein markers, including cytochrome c, Bcl-2, Bax, and caspase-7 along with its effect on the cell cycle was investigated. It revealed a mitochondria-apoptotic effect on MCF-7 cells and had the ability to upregulate pro-apoptotic Bax protein and downregulate anti-apoptotic Bcl-2 protein and thus implies the apoptotic fate of the cells. Furthermore, the inhibitory activities against EGFR, VEGFR-2 and CDK-2/cyclin A2 kinases for 8, 10 and 21 were studied to detect the mechanism of their high potency. The coumarin-triazole-glycosyl hybrids 8 and 10 illustrated excellent broad inhibitory activity (IC₅₀= 0.22 ± 0.01, 0.93 ± 0.42 and 0.24 ± 0.20 μM, respectively, for compound 8), (IC₅₀ = 0.12 ± 0.50, 0.79 ± 0.14 and 0.15± 0. 60 μM, respectively, for compound 10), in comparison with the reference drugs, erlotinib, sorafenib and roscovitine (IC₅₀ = 0.18 ± 0.05, 1.58 ± 0.11 and 0.46 ± 0.30 μM, respectively). In addition, the docking study was simulated to afford better rationalization and put insight into the binding affinity between the promising derivatives and their targeted enzymes and that might be used as an optimum lead for further modification in the anticancer field.

Discovery of (5-(Benzylthio)-4-(3-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl)-4H-1,2,4-triazol-3-yl) Methanols as Potent Phytoene Desaturase Inhibitors through Virtual Screening and Structure Optimization

Phytoene desaturase (PDS) is not only an important enzyme in the biosynthesis of carotenoids but also a promising target for herbicide discovery. However, in recent years, no expected PDS inhibitors with new scaffolds have been reported. Hence, a solution for developing PDS inhibitors is to search for new compounds with novel chemotypes based on the PDS protein structure. In this work, we integrated structure-based virtual screening, structure-guided optimization, and biological evaluation to discover some PDS inhibitors with novel chemotypes. It is noteworthy that the highly potent compound 1b, 1-(4-chlorophenyl)-2-((5-(hydroxymethyl)-4-(3-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl)-4H-1,2,4-triazol-3-yl)thio)ethan-1-one, exhibited a broader spectrum of post-emergence herbicidal activity at 375-750 g/ha against six kinds of weeds than the commercial PDS inhibitor diflufenican. Surface plasmon resonance (SPR) assay showed that the affinity of our compound 1b (K_D = 65.9 μM) to PDS is slightly weaker but at the same level as diflufenican (K_D = 38.3 μM). Meanwhile, determination of the phytoene content and PDS mRNA quantification suggested that 1b could induce PDS mRNA reduction and phytoene accumulation. Moreover, 1b also caused the increase of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and the change of ROS-associated enzyme activity in albino leaves. Hence, all these results indicated the feasibility of PDS protein structure-based virtual screen and structure optimization to search for highly potent PDS inhibitors with novel chemotypes for weed control.

Design and Synthesis of Benzene Homologues Tethered with 1,2,4-Triazole and 1,3,4-Thiadiazole Motifs Revealing Dual MCF-7/HepG2 Cytotoxic Activity with Prominent Selectivity via Histone Demethylase LSD1 Inhibitory Effect

In this study, an efficient multistep synthesis of novel aromatic tricyclic hybrids incorporating different biological active moieties, such as 1,3,4-thiadiazole and 1,2,4-triazole, was reported. These target scaffolds are characterized by having terminal lipophilic or hydrophilic parts, and their structures are confirmed by different spectroscopic methods. Further, the cytotoxic activities of the newly synthesized compounds were evaluated using in vitro MTT cytotoxicity screening assay against three different cell lines, including HepG-2, MCF-7, and HCT-116, compared with the reference drug Taxol. The results showed variable performance against cancer cell lines, exhibiting MCF-7 and HepG-2 selectivities by active analogs. Among these derivatives, 1,2,4-triazoles 11 and 13 and 1,3,4-thiadiazole 18 were found to be the most potent compounds against MCF-7 and HepG-2 cancer cells. Moreover, structure–activity relationship (SAR) studies led to the identification of some potent LSD1 inhibitors. The tested compounds showed good LSD1 inhibitory activities, with an IC₅₀ range of 0.04–1.5 μM. Compounds 27, 23, and 22 were found to be the most active analogs with IC₅₀ values of 0.046, 0.065, and 0.074 μM, respectively. In addition, they exhibited prominent selectivity against a MAO target with apparent cancer cell apoptosis, resulting in DNA fragmentation. This research provides some new aromatic-centered 1,2,4-triazole-3-thione and 1,3,4-thiadiazole analogs as highly effective anticancer agents with good LSD1 target selectivity.

Expanding the chemical space of 3(5)-functionalized 1,2,4-triazoles

An efficient approach to the gram-scale synthesis of 3(5)-substituted, 1,3- and 1,5-disubstituted 1,2,4-triazole-derived building blocks is described. The key synthetic precursors - 1,2,4-triazole-3(5)-carboxylates (20 examples, 35-89% yield) were prepared from readily available acyl hydrazides and ethyl 2-ethoxy-2-iminoacetate hydrochloride. Further transformations were performed following the convergent synthetic strategy and allowed the preparation of 1,3- and 1,5-disubstituted 1,2,4-triazole-derived esters (16 examples, 25-75% yield), 3(5)-substituted, 1,3- and 1,5-disubstituted carboxylate salts (18 examples, 78-93% yield), amides (5 examples, 82-93% yield), nitriles (5 examples, 30-85% yield), hydrazides (6 examples, 84-89% yield), and hydroxamic acids (3 examples, 73-78% yield). Considering wide applications of the 1,2,4-triazole motif in medicinal chemistry, these compounds are valuable building blocks for lead-oriented synthesis; they have also great potential for coordination chemistry.

Synthesis of Biologically Relevant 1,2,3- and 1,3,4-Triazoles: From Classical Pathway to Green Chemistry

Green Chemistry has become in the last two decades an increasing part of research interest. Nonconventional «green» sources for chemical reactions include micro-wave, mechanical mixing, visible light and ultrasound. 1,2,3-triazoles have important applications in pharmaceutical chemistry while their 1,2,4 counterparts are developed to a lesser extent. In the review presented here we will focus on synthesis of 1,2,3 and 1,2,4-triazole systems by means of classical and « green chemistry » conditions involving ultrasound chemistry and mechanochemistry. The focus will be on compounds/scaffolds that possess biological/pharmacophoric properties. Finally, we will also present the formal cycloreversion of 1,2,3-triazole compounds under mechanical forces and its potential use in biological systems.

Synthesis of new 1,2,4-triazole-(thio)semicarbazide hybrid molecules: Their tyrosinase inhibitor activities and molecular docking analysis

Tyrosinase inhibition is very important in controlling melanin synthesis. If melanin synthesis is not controlled in metabolism, an unwanted increase in melanin synthesis occurs. As melanin plays a role in the formation of skin color, its unusual levels cause some skin disorders such as pregnancy scars, age spots, and especially skin cancer (melanoma). However, the tyrosinase activity is also related to Parkinson's disease and some neurodegenerative diseases. For all these reasons, the medicinal as well as the cosmetic industries focus on research on tyrosinase inhibitors for the treatment of skin disorders and some neurodegenerative diseases. In this study, 32 new 1,2,4-triazole-(thio)semicarbazide hybrid molecules (6a-p and 7a-p) were synthesized, starting from 4-amino-1-pentyl-3-phenyl-1H-1,2,4-triazole-5(4H)-one. These compounds were evaluated for their inhibitory activity against mushroom tyrosinase. The results indicated that 6h, 6m, 6n, and 6p exhibited the most effective inhibitory activity, with IC₅₀ values of 0.00162 ± 0.0109, 0.00166 ± 0.0217, 0.00165 ± 0.019, and 0.00197 ± 0.0063 μM, respectively, compared with kojic acid as the reference drug (IC₅₀  = 14.09 ± 0.02 μM). Also, molecular docking analyses were performed to suggest possible binding poses for the ligands. As a result, derivatives 6h, 6m, 6n, and 6p can be used as promising tyrosinase inhibitor candidates in the medicinal, cosmetics, or food industries.

Antibacterial Activity of Fluorobenzoylthiosemicarbazides and Their Cyclic Analogues with 1,2,4-Triazole Scaffold

The development of drug-resistant bacteria is currently one of the major challenges in medicine. Therefore, the discovery of novel lead structures for the design of antibacterial drugs is urgently needed. In this structure–activity relationship study, a library of ortho-, meta-, and para-fluorobenzoylthiosemicarbazides, and their cyclic analogues with 1,2,4-triazole scaffold, was created and tested for antibacterial activity against Gram-positive bacteria strains. While all tested 1,2,4-triazoles were devoid of potent activity, the antibacterial response of the thiosemicarbazides was highly dependent on substitution pattern at the N4 aryl position. The optimum activity for these compounds was found for trifluoromethyl derivatives such as 15a, 15b, and 16b, which were active against both the reference strains panel, and pathogenic methicillin-sensitive and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus clinical isolates at minimal inhibitory concentrations (MICs) ranging from 7.82 to 31.25 μg/mL. Based on the binding affinities obtained from docking, the conclusion can be reached that fluorobenzoylthiosemicarbazides can be considered as potential allosteric d-alanyl-d-alanine ligase inhibitors.

Two N-{[4-(3-aryl-4-sydnonyl-idene-amino)-5-sulfan-yl-idene-1H-1,2,4-triazol-3-yl]meth-yl}benzamides as disordered ethanol monosolvates

Two new N-{[4-(3-aryl-4-sydnonyl-idene-amino)-5-sulfanyl-idene-1H-1,2,4-triazol-3-yl]meth-yl}benzamides have been prepared by acid-promoted condensation reactions between 3-aryl-4-formyl-sydnones and N-[(4-amino-5-sulfanyl-idene-1H-1,2,4-triazol-3-yl)meth-yl]benzamide, and both have been crystallized as ethanol monosolvates. N-{[4-(3-Phenyl-4-sydnonyl-idene-amino)-5-sulfanyl-idene-1H-1,2,4-triazol-3-yl]meth-yl}benzamide ethanol monosolvate, C19H15N7O3S·C2H6O (I), and N-({4-[3-(4-methyl-phen-yl)-4-sydnonyl-idene-amino]-5-sulfanyl-idene-1H-1,2,4-triazol-3-yl}meth-yl)benzamide ethanol monosolvate, C20H17N7O3S·C2H6O (II), differ only in the presence of a methyl group for (II) instead of a hydrogen atom for (I), and in both of them the ethanol component is disordered over two sets of atomic sites having occupancies of 0.836 (6) and 0.164 (6) in (I), and 0.906 (6) and 0.094 (6) in (II). Combinations of O-H⋯O and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into cyclic, centrosymmetric four-mol-ecule aggregates. Comparisons are made with the structures of some related compounds.

Synthesis, Structure, Chemical Stability, and In Vitro Cytotoxic Properties of Novel Quinoline-3-Carbaldehyde Hydrazones Bearing a 1,2,4-Triazole or Benzotriazole Moiety

A small library of novel quinoline-3-carbaldehyde hydrazones (Series 1), acylhydrazones (Series 2), and arylsulfonylhydrazones (Series 3) bearing either a 1,2,4-triazole or benzotriazole ring at position 2 was prepared, characterized by elemental analyses and IR, NMR, and MS spectra, and then subjected to in vitro cytotoxicity studies on three human tumor cell lines: DAN-G, LCLC-103H, and SISO. In general, compounds 4, 6, and 8 substituted with a 1,2,4-triazole ring proved to be inactive, whereas the benzotriazole-containing quinolines 5, 7, and 9 elicited pronounced cancer cell growth inhibitory effects with IC50 values in the range of 1.23⁻7.39 µM. The most potent 2-(1H-benzotriazol-1-yl)-3-[2-(pyridin-2-yl)hydrazonomethyl]quinoline (5e) showed a cytostatic effect on the cancer cell lines, whereas N′-[(2-(1H-benzotriazol-1-yl)quinolin-3-yl)methylene]-benzohydrazide (7a) and N′-[(2-1H-benzotriazol-1-yl)quinolin-3-yl)methylene]-naphthalene-2-sulfonohydrazide (9h) exhibited selective activity against the pancreas cancer DAN-G and cervical cancer SISO cell lines. Based on the determined IC50 values, the compound 5e seems to be leading compound for further development as anticancer agent.

Synthesis, Structural Studies and Biological Evaluation of Connections of Thiosemicarbazide, 1,2,4-Triazole and 1,3,4-Thiadiazole with Palmitic Acid

Thirty new derivatives of palmitic acid were efficiently synthesized. All obtained compounds can be divided into three groups of derivatives: Thiosemicarbazides (compounds 1-10), 1,2,4-triazoles (compounds 1a-10a) and 1,3,4-thiadiazoles (compounds 1b-10b) moieties. ¹H-NMR, 13C-NMR and MS methods were used to confirm the structure of derivatives. All obtained compounds were tested in vitro against a number of microorganisms, including Gram-positive cocci, Gram-negative rods and Candida albicans. Compounds 4, 5, 6, 8 showed significant inhibition against C. albicans. The range of MIC values was 50-1.56 μg/mL. The halogen atom, especially at the 3rd position of the phenyl group was significantly important for antifungal activity. The biological activity against Candida albicans and selected molecular descriptors were used as a basis for QSAR models, that have been determined by means of multiple linear regression. The models have been validated by means of the Leave-One-Out Cross Validation. The obtained QSAR models were characterized by high determination coefficients and good prediction power.

Green ultrasound-assisted three-component click synthesis of novel 1H-1,2,3-triazole carrying benzothiazoles and fluorinated-1,2,4-triazole conjugates and their antimicrobial evaluation

The present study describes an efficient and ecofriendly, ultrasound, one-pot click cycloaddition approach for the construction of a novel series of 1,4-disubstituted-1,2,3-triazoles tethered with fluorinated 1,2,4-triazole-benzothiazole molecular conjugates. It involved three-component condensation of the appropriate bromoacetamide benzothiazole, sodium azide and 4-alkyl/aryl-5-(2-fluorophenyl)-3-(prop-2-ynylthio)-1,2,4-triazoles 4a-e through a Cu(I)-catalyzed 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reaction. This approach involves in situ generation of azidoacetamide benzothiazole, followed by condensation with terminal alkynes in the presence of CuSO4/Na-ascorbate in aqueous DMSO under both conventional and ultrasound conditions. Some of the designed 1,2,3-triazole conjugates 6a-o were recognized for their antimicrobial activity against some bacterial and fungal pathogenic strains.

Design, Synthesis, Antimicrobial Evaluation and Molecular Modeling Study of 1,2,4-Triazole-Based 4-Thiazolidinones

A series of 3-(2H-1,2,4-triazol-5-yl)-1,3-thiazolidin-4-one derivatives (7c–l) was designed and synthesized. Their structures have been elucidated based on analytical and spectral data. They were evaluated for their antibacterial and antifungal activities. Compound 7h showed the highest activity against all tested strains, except P. vulgaris, with MIC 8 μg/mL and 4 μg/mL against S. aureus and C. albicans, respectively. Furthermore, Compounds 7c, 7h, and 7j demonstrated moderate anti-mycobacterium activity. The binding mode of the synthesized thiazolidinones to bacterial MurB enzyme was also studied. Good interactions between the docked compounds to the MurB active site were observed primarily with Asn83, Arg310, Arg188 and Ser82 amino acid residues.

Synthesis, antimicrobial, and anti-inflammatory activity, of novel S-substituted and N-substituted 5-(1-adamantyl)-1,2,4-triazole-3-thiols

The reaction of 5-(1-adamantyl)-4-phenyl-1,2,4-triazoline-3-thione (compound 5) with formaldehyde and 1-substituted piperazines yielded the corresponding N-Mannich bases 6a-f. The reaction of 5-(1-adamantyl)-4-methyl-1,2,4-triazoline-3-thione 8 with various 2-aminoethyl chloride yielded separable mixtures of the S-(2-aminoethyl) 9a-d and the N-(2-aminoethyl) 10a-d derivatives. The reaction of compound 5 with 1-bromo-2-methoxyethane, various aryl methyl halides, and ethyl bromoacetate solely yielded the S-substituted products 11, 12a-d, and 13. The new compounds were tested for activity against a panel of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria and the pathogenic fungus Candida albicans. Compounds 6b, 6c, 6d, 6e, 6f, 10b, 10c, 10d, 12c, 12d, 12e, 13, and 14 displayed potent antibacterial activity. Meanwhile, compounds 13 and 14 produced good dose-dependent anti-inflammatory activity against carrageenan-induced paw edema in rats.

Synthesis and antimicrobial activity of novel 5-(1-adamantyl)-2-aminomethyl-4-substituted-1,2,4-triazoline-3-thiones

The reaction of 5-(1-adamantyl)-4-substituted-1,2,4-triazoline-3-thione 5a,b and 10a,b with formaldehyde solution and various primary aromatic amines or 1-substituted piperazines yielded the corresponding N-Mannich bases 6a-o, 7a-g and 11a-i. The newly synthesized N-Mannich bases 6a-o, 7a-g and 11a-i were tested for in vitro inhibitory activities against a panel of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria and the yeast-like pathogenic fungus Candida albicans. The compounds 6j, 6l, 6m, 7a, 7b, 7c, 7d, 7f, 11a, 11b, 11c, 11d, 11e, 11f, 11h and 11i displayed moderate to good activity against the tested Gram-positive bacteria, while compounds 7c, 11c, 11d, 11f and 11h showed potent broad spectrum antibacterial activity. None of the newly synthesized compounds were proved to possess marked activity against C. albicans.
