Abstract
Current nanozyme applications rely heavily on peroxidase-like nanozymes and are limited to a specific temperature range, despite notable advancements in nanozyme development. In this work, we designed novel Mn-based metal organic frameworks (UoZ-4), with excellent oxidase mimic activity towards common substrates. UoZ-4 showed excellent oxidase-like activity (with Km 0.072 mM) in a wide range of temperature, from 10 °C to 100 °C with almost no activity loss, making it a very strong candidate for psychrophilic and thermophilic applications. Ascorbic acid, cysteine, and glutathione could quench the appearance of the blue color of oxTMB, led us to design a visual-based sensing platform for detection of total antioxidant capacity (TAC) in cold, mild and hot conditions. The visual mode successfully assessed TAC in citrus fruits with satisfactory recovery and precisions. Cold/hot adapted and magnetic property will broaden the horizon of nanozyme applications and breaks the notion of the temperature limitation of enzymes.

Abstract
The content of gallic acid (GA) is positively correlated with the quality grade of tea. Here, we developed a colorimetric method based on raspberry-like N-doped Mn3O4 nanospheres (N-Mn3O4 NSs) with oxidase-like activity for GA assay. Modulating the electronic structure of Mn3O4 by N doping could promote the catalysis ability, and the produced oxygen vacancies (OVs) can provide high surface energy and abundant active sites. The N-Mn3O4 NSs presented low Michaelis-Menten constant (Km) of 0.142 mM and maximum initial velocity (Vmax) of 9.8 × 10-6 M s-1. The sensor exhibited excellent analytical performance towards GA detection, including low LOD (0.028 μM) and promising linear range (5 ∼ 30 μM). It is attributed that OVs and O2- participated in TMB oxidation. Based on the reaction color changes, a visualized semi-quantitative GA detection could be realized via a smartphone-based system. It could be applied for evaluating GA quality in market-purchased black tea and green tea.

Abstract
Herein, we synthesized a novel N-doped carbon layer encapsulated Fe/Co bimetallic nanoparticles (Fe/Co-NC), which exhibited superior oxidase-like activity due to the facilitation of electron penetration and the formation of metal-nitrogen active sites. Fe/Co-NC could catalyze the oxidation of 3,3,5,5-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) to blue oxTMB. Acetylcholinesterase (AChE) could catalyze the hydrolysis of thioacetylcholine to produce reducing thiocholine, which prevented TMB from oxidation. Thus, a portable hydrogel colorimetric sensor was developed for on-site and visual monitoring of AChE with the detection limit of 0.36 U L-1, and successfully applied to detect AChE in human erythrocyte samples. Furthermore, this platform was used to investigate the inhibition of triazophos on AChE activity.

Abstract
Herein, a novel dual-mode probe for organophosphorus pesticides (OPs) colorimetric and photothermal detection was developed based on manganese modified porphyrin metal-organic framework (PCN-224-Mn). PCN-224-Mn had excellent oxidase-like activity and oxidized colorless 3,3,5,5-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) to blue-green oxidation state TMB (oxTMB), which exhibited high temperature under near-infrared irradiation. l-ascorbate-2-phosphate was hydrolyzed by acid phosphatase to produce ascorbic acid, which weakened colorimetric and photothermal signals by impacting oxTMB generation. The presence of OPs blocked the production of ascorbic acid by irreversibly inhibiting the activity of acid phosphatase, causing the restoration of chromogenic reaction and the increase of temperature. Under the optimal conditions, the probe showed a good linear response to OPs in the concentration range of 5 ∼ 10000 ng/mL, using glyphosate as the analog. The detection limits of glyphosate in colorimetric mode and photothermal mode were 1.47 ng/mL and 2.00 ng/mL, respectively. The probe was successfully used for sensitive identification of OPs residues in tea, brown rice, and wheat flour. This work proposes a simple and reliable colorimetric/photothermal platform for OPs identification, which overcomes the problem that single-mode detection probes are susceptible to external factors, and has broad application potential in the field of food safety.

Abstract
Food safety concerns about the authenticity of soy product freshness have increased due to high demand from public. Developing an accurate and convenient monitoring method for freshness authenticity is crucial for safeguarding food safety. From this motive, this study employed PtPd NPs to encapsulate tetraphenylethylene (TPE) for engineering an AIE-based fluorescent nanozyme (PtPd NPs@TPE) with oxidase-like activity, achieving the ratiometric fluorescence monitoring of putrescine (PUT) to judge the freshness authenticity of soy products. In this design, PUT acted as an antioxidant and inhibited the oxidation process of PtPd NPs@TPE to o-phenylenediamine (OPD), leading to the reduction of oxidative product 2,3-diaminophenothiazine (DAP) alone with the weaken of yellow fluorescence from DAP at 552 nm and bright of bule fluorescence from PtPd NPs@TPE at 442 nm. On this basis, a ratiometric fluorescence strategy integrated with smartphone-based sensor was developed for PUT with acceptable results to combat food freshness fraud of soy products.

Abstract
A Mn decorated zeolitic imidazolate framework-90 (ZIF-90) nanozyme (Mn/ZIF-90) was constructed through an effective and rapid post-synthetic strategy for the first time. The Mn in Mn/ZIF-90 exists in mixed valence states, which is doped to the ZIF-90 through the formation of Mn-O bond. The Zn-N coordination structure of ZIF-90 may change the electronic arrangement of oxygen atoms in the free carbonyl groups (-CHO), allowing the coordination of Mn with O. The prepared Mn/ZIF-90 possesses outstanding oxidase-like activity and remarkable stability. Besides, the catalytic activity of Mn/ZIF-90 can be inhibited in the presence of H2O2. Therefore, using the Mn/ZIF-90-triggered chromogenic reaction of 3,3',5,5'-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) as an amplifier, a versatile enzyme cascade-based colorimetric method for the detection of glucose and choline with good sensitivity and selectivity was developed. The linear ranges for glucose and choline are 6.25-500 μM and 5-1000 μM, respectively. Furthermore, the developed method was applied in the detection of glucose and choline in rabbit plasma samples, and the recoveries are 89.5-107.3 % and 96.0-109.3 %, respectively. In short, the simple and efficient post-synthetic doping method may provide a new thought for the rational designs of enzyme mimics with improved catalytic performance. Moreover, the colorimetric method based on the excellent catalytic activity of Mn/ZIF-90 may be extended to detect other H2O2-generating or consuming molecules and evaluate the activity of bio-enzymes that can catalyze the generation of glucose or choline.

Abstract
Given the highly mutagenic and carcinogenic nature of Aflatoxin M1 (AFM1), the quantity assessment of AFM1 residues in milk and dairy products is necessary to maintain consumer health and food safety. Herein, CRISPR-Cas12a-based colorimetric aptasensor was developed using the catalytic activity of flower-like nanozymes of MnO2 and trans-cleavage property of CRISPR-Cas12a system to quantitatively detect AFM1. The basis of the developed colorimetric aptasensor relies on whether or not the CRISPR-Cas12a system is activated, as well as the contrast in oxidase-mimicking capability exhibited by flower-like MnO2 nanozymes when AFM1 is absent or present. When AFM1 is not present in the sample, single-stranded DNA (ssDNA) is degraded by the activated CRISPR-Cas12a, and the solution turns into yellow due to the catalytic activity of the nanozymes. While, in the attendance of AFM1, ssDNA degradation does not occur due to the inactivation of the CRISPR-Cas12a. Therefore, with the adsorption of the ssDNA on the MnO2 nanozymes, their catalytic activity decreases, and the solution color becomes pale yellow due to less oxidation of the chromogenic substrate. In this aptasensor, the relative absorbance changes increased linearly from 6 to 160 ng L-1, and the detection limit was 2.1 ng L-1. The developed aptasensor displays a selective detection performance and a practical application for quantitative analysis of AFM1 in milk samples. The results of the introduced aptasensor open up the way to design other selective and sensitive aptasensors for the detection of other mycotoxins by substitution of the used sequences.

Abstract
Monitoring acetylcholinesterase (AChE) is crucial in clinical diagnosis and drug screening. Traditional methods for detecting AChE usually require the addition of intermediates like acetylthiocholine, which complicates the detection process and introduces interference risks. Herein, we develop a direct colorimetric assay based on alkaline iron formate nanosheets (Fe(HCOO)2.6(OH)0.3·H2O NSs, Fef NSs) for the detection of AChE without any intermediates. The as-prepared Fef NSs exhibit oxidase-like activity, catalyzing the generation of O2·-, 1O2 and ·OH, which leads to a color change from colorless to blue when exposed to 3,3',5,5'-tetramethylbenzidine. AChE directly inhibits the oxidase-like activity of Fef NSs, resulting in a hindered color reaction, enabling the detection of AChE. The biosensor has a linear detection range of 0.1-30 mU/mL, with a minimum detection limit of 0.0083 mU/mL (S/N = 3), representing a 100-fold improvement in detection sensitivity over the traditional Ellman's method. Satisfactory results were obtained when analyzing real AChE samples. Attractively, a method for the quantitative detection of AChE by a smartphone is established based on the Fef NSs. This method enables instant acquisition of AChE concentrations, achieving real-time visualized detection.

Abstract
It is highly desirable to design and construct chemical catalysts with high activity and specificity as the alternatives of natural enzymes for industrial application. Chiral carbon dots (CDs), possessing both the intrinsic enzyme-like activity and specific recognition ability, are one of good candidates for enzyme-like catalysts. However, their catalytic activity is far from that of natural enzymes and needs to be enhanced. In this work, the modulation of the chiral structure and catalytic activity of chiral CDs with intrinsic oxidase-like activity was implemented by manganese (Mn) doping. Under the light condition, chiral CDs (l-Ser-CDs and d-Ser-CDs) derived from chiral serine (Ser) show weak catalytic activity and low selectivity toward the oxidation of L type of dopamine (l-DOPA), whereas the Mn functionalized chiral CDs (l-Mn-CDs or d-Mn-CDs) exhibit 6.9 times higher in catalytic activity and 2.9 times in selectivity ratio (SR) than Ser-CDs. Mn-CDs involve two-path catalytic process, in which the photogenerated electrons could reduce O2 to O2- as the active species and the holes would oxidize DOPA directly. Moreover, doping of Mn enables the CDs to generate more O2-. Besides, l-Mn-CDs have higher catalytic activity than that of d-Mn-CDs (+54.2 %), and the chiral Mn-CDs have stronger selective adsorption capacity towards chiral DOPA than Ser-CDs. Our work provides a new method for designing and preparing novel chiral artificial enzymes.

Abstract
Metal-organic frameworks (MOF) derived nitrogen-doped carbon-supported monodisperse Fe (Fe-N-C) catalysts are intensively studied, but great challenges remain in understanding the relationship between the coordination structure and the performance of Fe-N-C nanozymes. Herein, a novel nanocluster ligand-bridging strategy is proposed for constructing Fe-S1 N4 structures with axially coordinated S and Au nanoclusters on ZIF-8 derived Fe-N-C (labeled Aux /Fe-S1 N4 -C). The axial Au nanoclusters facilitate electron transfer to Fe active sites, utilizing the bridging ligand S as a medium, thereby enhancing the oxygen adsorption capacity of composite nanozymes. Compared to Fe-N-C, Aux /Fe-S1 N4 -C exhibits high oxidase-like specificity and activity, and holds great potential for detecting acetylcholinesterase activity with a detection limit of 5.1 µU mL-1 , surpassing most reported nanozymes.

Abstract
Nanozymes have emerged as the forefront of research in analytical sensing due to their promising applications. In this study, we utilized polyethyleneimine (PEI)-modified Pichia pastoris residue to synthesize microbial-based palladium nanocomposites (Pd/MMR) through simple in-situ reduction methods. The dispersed active sites of Pd nanoparticles with a size of 2.12 ± 0.49 nm that were supported by microbial biomass provided excellent oxidative enzyme-mimicking activity to Pd/MMR. The catalytic mechanism of Pd/MMR involved the combined action of 1O2, ·OH, and ·O2-, and possible reaction pathways and corresponding energy barriers were also revealed using DFT calculations. We also established a quantitative detection platform for nitrite using Pd/MMR. The platform could detect nitrite at concentrations of 10-300 μM with a detection limit of 0.27 μM, and was successfully applied to detect nitrite in real samples. These findings serve as a reference for the synthesis and application of metal nanocomposites using microorganisms.

Abstract
In this paper, bimetallic CuFe Prussian blue analogue (CuFe PBA) was discovered to have oxidase-like activity. Luminol can be oxidized under alkaline conditions without adding other oxidants. The chemiluminescence (CL) intensity produced is more than 1000 times that of the original luminol-NaOH system. Thus, a novel luminol-NaOH-CuFe PBA CL sensor was constructed. The CL intensity of the system would drastically decrease with the addition of uric acid (UA), it served as the foundation for the creation of an enzyme-free CL sensor for the determination of UA. The CL signal intensity of the system showed a linear connection with the square of the UA concentration in the range of 0.25 to 0.45 mmol·L-1, and the limits of detection was 0.10 mmol·L-1. This system could be used to construct an efficient CL sensor for the detection of UA in human serum.

Abstract
Due to the copper (Cu) active sites, its complexes with oxidase-like activity have superior catalytic properties, which can catalyze a series of specific substrates like 3,3',5,5'-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB), producing colorimetric reactions for the detection of different reducing small-molecule compounds. Attribute to the competitive coordination effects between water molecules and central Cu ions, most of the Cu complexes can hardly be used in the pure aqueous reaction system. In this study, a Cu-based material (Cu-imidazole-2-carboxaldehyde, Cu-ICA) was prepared using copper ions and ICA through a one-step process in the water solution. After the morphology of the material being characterized, the mimetic enzyme behavior of the Cu-ICA was demonstrated through the TMB oxidation. Compared to the other reported oxidase-like mimics, Cu-ICA has better aqueous stability and oxidase-like activity, and shows a higher vmax. Furthermore, basing on the oxidase-like activity of Cu-ICA, a colorimetric method was developed for the ascorbic acid and glutathione detections with linear ranges of 0.5-5 μM and 0.5-4 μM, and limit of detection of 0.1304 μM and 0.097 μM, respectively. Owing to its excellent aqueous stability and oxidase-like activity, Cu-ICA has bright application prospects in the analysis of reducing small-molecule compounds.

Abstract
Recently, nanozymes show increasing biological applications and promising possibilities for therapeutic intervention, while their mediated therapeutic outcomes are severely compromised due to their insufficient catalytic activity and specificity. Herein, ternary FeCoMn single atoms were incorporated into N-doped hollow mesoporous carbon nanospheres by in situ confinement pyrolysis at 800 °C as high-efficiency nanozyme. The confinement strategy endows the as-prepared nanozyme with the enhanced catalase- and oxidase-like activities. Specifically, the FeCoMn TSAs/N-HCSs nanozyme can decompose intracellular H2O2 to generate O2 and subsequently convert O2 to cytotoxic superoxide radicals (O2∙-), which can initiate cascade enzymatic reactions in tumor microenvironment (TME) for chemodynamic therapy (CDT). Moreover, the cancer therapy was largely enhanced by loading with doxorubicin (DOX). Impressively, the FeCoMn TSAs/N-HCSs nanozyme-mediated CDT and the DOX-induced chemotherapy endow the DOX@FeCoMn TSAs/N-HCSs with effective tumor inhibition, showing the superior therapeutic efficacy.

Abstract
Palladium (Pd)-based nanomaterials are the emerging class of catalysts with individual physiochemical properties. Unlike traditional catalysts, metallenes showed abundant active sites, large surface area, and high atomic utilization. Based on these benefits, we demonstrate a highly active 2D graphene-like Pd metallene with abundant accessible active sites serving as a highly efficient oxidase mimic. The structure and morphology of Pd metallenezymes were controlled to enhance the catalytic performance and to efficiently utilize all the Pd atoms. Pd metallenezymes with excellent oxidase-like activity were successfully applied for colorimetric-based chromium (VI) (Cr(VI)) detection in a real environment. 3,3',5,5'-Tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) was used as a typical chromogenic substrate catalyzed by Pd metallene to show that blue oxidized TMB (ox TMB) was significantly reduced to colorless TMB by the reducing agent 8-hydroxyquinoline (8-HQ). The reaction process was impressively reversed by the addition of Cr(VI), which interacted with 8-HQ to restore the blue color of TMB. Based on the above results, a facile and effective colorimetric sensing system for the detection of Cr(VI) with a low detection limit of 2.8 nM was developed and could be successfully applied to the detection of Cr(VI) in a real environment.

Abstract
Nanozyme-based colorimetric assays have shown great potential in the rapid and sensitive determination of pesticide residue in environment. However, the non-specific enzyme inhibition makes the assays generally lack of selectivity. In this study, we proposed a colorimetric sensing platform for the specific detection of the agricultural fungicide thiophanate-methyl (TM) based on its distinctive inhibitory effect on the nanozyme activity. Since TM contains the symmetric ethylenediamine- and bisthiourea-like groups, it displays strong affinity to the metal site, leading to a loss of the catalytic activity. Accordingly, a Cu-doped carbon nanozyme with excellent oxidase-like properties was designed, and the oxidation process of chromogenic substrate is promoted by Cu-induced generation of reactive oxygen species. Interestingly, the nanozyme activity can be directly and strongly restrained by TM, rather than other probably coexistent pesticides. Consequently, the as-proposed analytical method exhibits specific response toward TM and good linear relationship in the range of 0.2-15 μg mL-1 with a low limit of detection of 0.04 μg mL-1 (S/N = 3). Besides, a smartphone-assisted rapid detection was achieved through identifying the RGB value of the chromogenic system. This work provides a new nanozyme inhibition strategy for the specific detection of TM in environmental sample.

Abstract
Single-atom catalysts (SACs) have attracted much attention due to their excellent catalytic activity, but the improvement of atomic loading which means that weight fraction (wt%) of metal atom was still facing great challenges. In this work, iron and molybdenum co-doped dual single-atom catalysts (Fe/Mo DSACs) was prepared for the first time by using the soft template sacrifice strategy, which improved significantly the atomic load and exhibited both the oxidase-like (OXD) activity and the dominant peroxidase-like (POD) activity. Further experiments reveal that Fe/Mo DSACs can not only catalyze O2 to generate O2•- and 1O2, but also catalyze H2O2 to generate a large number of •OH, which caused 3, 3', 5, 5'-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) to be oxidized to oxTMB, accompanied by the color changing from colorless to blue. The steady-state kinetic test showed that Michaelis-Menten constant (Km) values and the maximum initial velocity values (Vmax) of the POD activity of Fe/Mo DSACs were 0.0018 mM and 12.6 × 10-8 M s-1, respectively. The corresponding catalytic efficiency was tens of times higher than Fe SACs and Mo SACs, which proves that the synergistic effect between Fe and Mo has significantly improved the catalytic ability. Based on the excellent POD activity of Fe/Mo DSACs, a colorimetric sensing platform combined with TMB was proposed to realize the sensitive detection of H2O2 and uric acid (UA) in a wide range, with limits of detection as low as 0.13 and 0.18 μM, respectively. Finally, accurate and reliable results were obtained in the detection of H2O2 in cells, and of UA in human serum and urine.

Abstract
Accurate determination of glutathione (GSH) in food and vegetable is significant to instruct the appropriate supplementation of GSH in the human body. Light-responsive enzyme mimics have been widely used in detecting GSH due to controllable temporal and spatial accuracy. However, exploring a potential organic mimic enzyme with excellent catalytic efficiency keeps challenging. Herein, a benzobisthiazole organic oxidase mimic was successfully prepared by a simple and low-cost method. Based on its high light-responsive oxidase-like activity, it was used for high reliable colorimetric determination of GSH in food and vegetable for only 1 min with a large linear range of 0.02-30 μM and a low detection limit of 5.3 nM. This study provides a novel strategy to obtain powerful light-responsive oxidase mimics and holds great potential for rapid and accurate detection of GSH in food and vegetables.

Abstract
The microbial environment greatly affects the performance of colourimetric sensors, especially the interference of bacteria in the sample detected. This paper reports the fabrication of an antibacterial colorimetric sensor based on V2C MXene synthesized via simple intercalation and stripping. The prepared V2C nanosheets can mimic oxidase activity towards 3,3',5,5'-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) oxidation without exogenously adding H2O2. Further mechanistic studies showed that V2C nanosheets could effectively activate the oxygen adsorbed on their surface, which in turn causes an increase in the bond length and a decrease in the magnetic moment of oxygen through electron transfer from the nanosheet surface to O2. The V2C nanosheets also exhibited excellent broad-spectrum antibacterial activity through the outbreak of reactive oxygen species. Owing to its unique catalytic activity and the inherent antibacterial ability for mimicking oxidase, a colorimetric sensing platform was developed to effectively determine L-cysteine levels at a detection limit of 30.0 nM (S/N = 3). It is impressive that the detection results of L-cysteine in various complex microbial environments are also very satisfactory. This study broadens the biological use of MXene-based nanomaterials through their satisfactory enzymatic activity and provides a simple and efficient colorimetric strategy for detection techniques used in complex microbial environments.

Abstract
Mn3O4 nanoparticles composed of porous reduced graphene oxide nanosheets (Mn3O4@p-rGO) with enhanced oxidase-like activity were successfully fabricated through an in-situ approach for fast colorimetric detection of ascorbic acid (AA). The residual Mn2+ in the GO suspension of Hummers method was directly reused as the manganese source, improving the atom utilization efficiency. Benefiting from the uniform distribution of Mn3O4 nanoparticles on the surface of p-rGO nanosheets, the nanocomposite exhibited larger surface area, more active sites, and accelerated electron transfer efficiency, which enhanced the oxidase-like activity. Mn3O4@p-rGO nanocomposite efficiently activate dissolved O2 to generate singlet oxygen (1O2), leading to high oxidation capacity toward the substrate 3,3',5,5'-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) without the extra addition of H2O2. Furthermore, the prominent absorption peak of the blue ox-TMB at 652 nm gradually decreased in the presence of AA, and a facile and fast colorimetric sensor was constructed with a good linear relationship (0.5-80 μM) and low LOD (0.278 μM) toward AA. Owing to the simplicity and excellent stability of the sensing platform, its practical application for AA detection in juices has shown good feasibility and reliability compared with HPLC and the 2, 4-dinitrophenylhydrazine colorimetric method. The oxidase-like Mn3O4@p-rGO provides a versatile platform for applications in food testing and disease diagnosis.

Abstract
Nowadays, fabricating simple and efficient pesticide detection methods become a research focus due to the great threat pesticide residues posed to human health and environment. Herein, we constructed a high-efficiency and sensitive colorimetric detection platform for malathion detection based on polydopamine-dressed Pd nanocubes (PDA-Pd/NCs). The Pd/NCs coated with PDA exhibited excellent oxidase-like activity, which was attributed to the substrates accumulation and accelerated electron transfer induced by PDA. What's more, we successfully achieved sensitive detection of acid phosphatase (ACP) using 3,3',5,5'-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) as the chromogenic substrate, relying on the satisfactory oxidase activity from PDA-Pd/NCs. However, the addition of malathion could inhibit the activity of ACP and limit the production of medium AA. Therefore, we constructed a colorimetric assay for malathion based on PDA-Pd/NCs + TMB + ACP system. The wide linear range (0-8 μM) and low detection limit (0.023 μM) indicate excellent analytical performance, which is superior to most malathion analysis methods previously reported. This work not only provides a new idea for dopamine coated nano-enzyme to improve its catalytic activity, but also creates a new tactics for the detection of pesticides such as malathion.

Abstract
In this work, cerium-doped carbon dots (Ce-CDs) both as a reducing agent and template hybrid gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) with weak oxidase-like (OXD) activity was synthesized for the detection of Hg2+ and aflatoxin B1 (AFB1). The AuNPs can catalyze efficiently mercury ion (Hg2+) reduction to the metallic (Hg0) to form Au-Hg amalgam (Au@HgNPs). The obtained Au@HgNPs with strong OXD-like activity oxidize without Raman-active leucomalachite green (LMG) into the Raman-active malachite green (MG) and simultaneously as the SERS substrates by the formed Raman "hot spot" through MG-induced Au@HgNPs aggregation. While AFB1 was introduced resulting in the SERS intensity decreasing due to Hg2+ with AFB1 via carbonyl group to inhibit the aggregation of Au@HgNPs. The work paves a new path for the design of a nanozyme-based SERS protocol for tracing Hg2+ and AFB1 residues in foodstuff analysis.

Abstract
Cell-enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (CELISA) is extensively applied for cancer diagnosis and screening because of its simple operation, high sensitivity, and intuitive color change. However, the unstable horseradish peroxidase (HRP), hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and non-specificity have led to a high false negative rate, which limits its application. In this study, we have developed an innovative immunoaffinity nanozyme aided CELISA based on anti-CD44 monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) bioconjugated manganese dioxide-modified magnetite nanoparticles (Fe3O4@MnO2 NPs) for the specific detection of triple-negative breast cancer MDA-MB-231 cells. The CD44FM nanozymes were fabricated to replace unstable HRP and H2O2 to counteract possible negative effects in conventional CELISA. Results suggested that CD44FM nanozymes displayed remarkable oxidase-like activities over an extensive pH and temperature range. The bioconjugation of CD44 mAbs enabled CD44FM nanozymes to enter MDA-MB-231 cells selectively via over-expressed CD44 antigens on the membrane surface of these cells, and then catalyzed oxidation of the chromogenic substrate TMB, further achieving specific detection of these cells. Additionally, this study exhibited high sensitivity and low detection limit for MDA-MB-231 cells with a quantitation range of just 186 cells. To sum up, this report developed a simple, specific and sensitive assay platform based on CD44FM nanozymes, which could provide a promising strategy for targeted diagnosis and screening of breast cancer.

Abstract
Phosphotungstic acid covered with CeO2 hollow nanospheres (CeO2@PTA HNSs) has been successfully prepared by a simple method, serving as highly efficient nanozymes for ascorbic acid (AA) colorimetric sensing. In virtue of the unique hollow nanostructures, oxide defects and synergic effects of CeO2 and PTA, the proposed CeO2@PTA HNSs present remarkable intrinsic oxidase-like activity and help capture electrons from 3,3',5,5'-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB). Due to the reducibility of AA, a promising colorimetric sensing platform based on CeO2@PTA HNSs has been constructed for quantitative analysis of AA. The present colorimetric detection exhibits a low limit of detection, good selectivity and stability, as well as reliability in orange juice and milk. This work provides a simple surface defect engineering to prepare high-performance oxidase mimics in the application of colorimetric biosensing.

Abstract
In this study, an aqueous extract of Sclerocarya birrea leaves was used as a reducing agent to synthesize silver nanoparticles (AgNPs). The synthesis was carried out at room temperature and was both rapid and simple. Different characterization techniques such as UV/visible spectroscopy, surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, and focused ion beam scanning electron microscopy were used to confirm the formation of AgNPs. The synthesized nanoparticles exhibited catalytic activity for the reduction of 4-nitrophenol, methyl orange, methylene blue, and rhodamine 6G. The catalytic activity was monitored by measuring the UV/visible absorbance spectra of the compounds using sodium borohydride as a reducing agent and found to be high. Additionally, the particles displayed oxidase-like activity. In the presence of AgNPs, 3, 3', 5, 5'-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) which is colorless was transformed to oxidized TMB, which is blue, using dissolved oxygen as the oxidant. In the presence of Hg2+, the oxidase-like activity was enhanced. On the basis of this observation, an assay for the analysis of Hg2+ was developed. The linear range of the calibration curve is wide (0-600 µM) and the limit of detection (LOD) is low, as small as 34.8 nM. The method is strongly selective towards Hg2+. Tap water obtained from the laboratory where these experiments were carried out was used to study the feasibility of the method in real sample analyses.

Abstract
The selective detection of glutathione (GSH) has been used as important colorimetric probe for human health. Herein, we used a facile method to synthesize manganese ions modified porphyrin metal-organic framework (PCN-224-Mn) with a size of 125.7 ± 14.2 nm and zeta potential of -3.9 ± 0.5 mV. We showed that PCN-224-Mn catalyzed oxidation of 3,3',5,5'-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) in the absence of H2O2, resulting in a blue-colored oxidized TMB (oxTMB) that exhibits oxidase-like activity. Furthermore, a simple colorimetric detection method for GSH was developed based on the oxidase-like activity of PCN-224-Mn. This method shows wide linear detection range of 0.5-60 μM for GSH with a much lower detection limit of 0.233 μM. Finally, the recovery of colorimetric sensor of PCN-224-Mn suggests its great potential as a biosensor. As the catalytically active site, the manganese porphyrin unit plays a major role in the oxidase-like property and detection ability of PCN-224-Mn. Our data suggest that GSH detection method using PCN-224-Mn has great potential in multiple applications in the future.

Abstract
Enzyme-like nanomaterials have received significant attention for their high stability and low cost. However, most nanomaterials require complicated synthesis processes, limiting the range of their potential applications. In this study, a novel cerium-based nanomaterial was fabricated in a facile manner from a mixture of dipicolinic acid (DPA), guanosine 5'-monophosphate (GMP), and cerium acetate under ambient conditions. The obtained nanomaterial, designated as DPA-Ce-GMP, exhibited superior oxidase-like activity owing to the mixed valence (Ce3+/Ce4+) of cerium ions. DPA-Ce-GMP efficiently catalyzed the oxidation of 3,3,5,5-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB), achieving a color reaction without requiring hydrogen peroxide. Thus, DPA-Ce-GMP was incorporated into a simple, rapid, and sensitive colorimetric sensor for glutathione (GSH) detection. Within this sensor, TMB oxidation is inhibited by the reducibility of GSH. The sensor exhibits a linear response over two concentration ranges (0.05-10 and 10-40 μM), and its detection limit is 17.1 nM (3σ/slope). The proposed sensor was successfully applied to GSH quantification in food samples. The developed sensor provides an efficient biomimic oxidase for GSH detection in real samples. Facile approach to prepare cerium-based nanomaterial with superior oxidase-like activity for colorimetric detection of glutathione in food samples.

Abstract
The great threat of pesticide residues to the environment and human health has drawn widespread interest to explore approaches for pesticide monitoring. Compared to commonly developed single-signal pesticide assays, multi-mode detection with inherent self-validation and self-correction is expected to offer more reliable and anti-interference results. However, how to realize multi-mode analysis of pesticides still remains challenging. Herein, we propose a dual-mode fluorescence and colorimetric method for pesticide determination by integrating stimulus-responsive luminescence with oxidase-mimetic activity into cerium-based coordination polymer nanoparticles (CPNs(Ⅳ)). The CPNs(Ⅳ) exhibit good oxidase-like activity of catalyzing the colorless 3,3',5,5'-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) oxidation to its blue oxide, offering a visible color signal; by employing acid phosphatase (ACP) to hydrolyze ascorbic acid 2-phosphate (AAP), the generated ascorbic acid (AA) can chemically reduce the CPNs(Ⅳ) to CPNs(Ⅲ), which exhibit a remarkable fluorescence signal but lose the oxidase-mimicking ability to trigger the TMB chromogenic reaction; when pesticides exist, the enzymatic activity of ACP is restrained and the hydrolysis of AAP to AA is blocked, leading to the recovery of the catalytic TMB chromogenic reaction but the suppression of the fluorescence signal of CPNs(Ⅲ). According to this principle, by taking malathion as a pesticide model, dual-mode 'off-on-off' fluorescence and 'on-off-on' colorimetric detection of the pesticide with good sensitivity was realized. Excellent interference-tolerance and reliability were verified by applying it to analyze the target in real sample matrices. With good performance and practicability, the proposed dual-mode approach shows great potential in the facile and reliable monitoring of pesticide residues.

Abstract
Glutathione (GSH) is an important antioxidant and free radical scavenger that converts harmful toxins into harmless substances and excretes them out of the body. In this paper, 3D hierarchical flower-like nanozyme named MnO2/PS (polystyrene) was successfully prepared by template method for the first time. After the systematical studies, MnO2/PS nanozyme was evaluated to possess favorable oxidase activity and direct 3,3',5,5'-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) catalytic ability in the near-neutral environment at room temperature. With the addition of different concentrations of GSH, oxidized TMB can be reduced to TMB with the whole process from blue to nearly colorless be observed by naked eyes. In addition, there is a good linear relationship in the range 1-50 μM and a detection limit of 0.08 μM. The method proposed can be successfully applied to the detection of reduced GSH in tablets and injections with good selectivity and high sensitivity. The analysis results exhibited good consistency with the results obtained by HPLC.

Abstract
Biothiol detection is of great importance for clinical disease diagnosis. Previous nanozyme-based colorimetric sensors for biothiol detection showed unsatisfactory catalytic activity, which led to a high detection limit. Therefore, developing new nanozymes with the high catalytic activity for biothiol detection is extremely necessary. Recently, single-atom nanozymes (SAzymes) have attracted much attention in biosensing due to their 100% atom utilization and excellent catalytic activity. Most previous works focus on the peroxidase-like activity of Fe-based SAzymes by using unstable and destructive H2O2 as the oxidant. It is essential to develop new SAzymes with high oxidase-like activity for biosensing to break through the limitation. Herein, Co-N-C SAzymes with high oxidase-like activity are explored. Furthermore, Co-N-C SAzymes are used as a biosensor for colorimetric detection of biothiols (GSH/Cys) based on the inhibition of thiols toward the oxidase-like activity of Co-N-C SAzymes, which showed high sensitivity with a low detection limit of 0.07 µM for GSH and 0.06 µM for Cys. Besides, the method showed good reproducibility and high selectivity against other amino acids. This work offers new insights using Co-N-C SAzymes in the biosensing field.

Abstract
During the recent several decades, lateral flow immunoassay (LFIA) constructed with gold nanoparticle (AuNP) has been widely utilized to conveniently detect target analyte. However, AuNP-based LFIA has limitations, such as limited detection sensitivity and quantification capability. Herein, to overcome these constraints, we have developed cerium oxide nanoparticle (nanoceria)-based LFIA for C-reactive protein (CRP) detection in human serum samples. It was fabricated with nanoceria, a notable nanozyme that shows an oxidase activity to quickly oxidize organic substrate, such as 3,3',5,5'-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB), to produce colored product without any oxidizing agent (e.g., hydrogen peroxide), which is advantageous for realizing point-of-care testing (POCT) applications. By employing human blood serum spiked with CRP, the nanoceria-based LFIA showed two blue-colored lines on the test and control region within 3 min via TMB oxidation, by the captured nanoceria through antigen-antibody interaction. The produced blue-colored lines were distinguished by naked eyes and quantitated with real images acquired by a conventional smartphone with the ImageJ software. With this strategy, target CRP was specifically determined down to 117 ng mL-1 with high detection precisions yielding coefficient of variation of 9.8-11.3% and recovery of 90.7-103.2% using human blood serum samples. This investigation demonstrates the potential of oxidase-like nanoceria for developing LFIA, which is particularly useful in instrumentation-free POCT environments.

Abstract
Nanozymes, as a new type of artificial enzyme, have recently become a research hotspot in the field of catalysis and biomedicine. However, the application of nanozyme is limited by catalytic activity changes of different substrates and low specificity. This work shows that citrate-capped platinum nanoparticles (Cit-PtNPs) exhibit stronger oxidase-like activity than other platinum nanozymes at different pH when 3-methyl-2-benzothiazolinonehydrazone hydrochloride (MBTH) and n-ethyl-n- (2-hydroxy-3-sulfopropyl)-m-toluidine sodium salt (TOOS) were used as chromogenic substrates. This phenomenon has important reference value for different nanozymes to choose chromogenic substrates in catalysis. In MBTH-TOOS chromogenic system, MBTH (-NH) radical is first produced during the reaction through catalytic oxidation of Cit-PtNPs, which reacts with TOOS to produce a colorless compound. The blue-purple quinoid dye was produced through the dismutation of the colorless compound. The catalytic mechanism of the oxidase-like activity of Cit-PtNPs is that two-electron reduction process and four-electron reduction process are simultaneously carried out in the catalytic process. Furthermore, to solve the problem of low specificity of metal nanozymes, protamine is designed as aggregation promoter of Cit-PtNPs and the specifichydrolysis substrate of trypsin. In this work, it can achieve one-step detection of trypsin by the boosting oxidase activity of Cit-PtNPs at pH8. The catalytic activity of Cit-PtNPs is proportional to the concentration of trypsin. The linear range for trypsin is 1.0-70.0 ngmL-1 and the limit of detection is measured to be 0.6 ngmL-1. This novel method has also been successfully applied to the detection of inhibitors and trypsin in urine samples.

Abstract
A convenient and sensitive colorimetric assay for acetylcholinesterase (AChE) and its inhibitor has been designed based on the oxidase-like activity of {100}-faceted Pd square nanoplates which are grown in situ on reduced graphene oxide (PdSP@rGO). PdSP@rGO can effectively catalyze the oxidation of colorless 3,3',5,5'-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) without the assistance of H2O2 to generate blue oxidized TMB (oxTMB) with a characteristic absorption peak at 652 nm. In the presence of AChE, acetylthiocholine (ATCh), a typical AChE substrate, is hydrolyzed to thiocholine (TCh). The generated TCh can effectively inhibit the PdSP@rGO-triggered chromogenic reaction of TMB via cheating with Pd, resulting in color fading and decrease in absorbance. Thus, a sensitive probe for AChE activity is constructed with a working range of 0.25-5 mU mL-1 and a limit of detection (LOD) of 0.0625 mU mL-1. Furthermore, because of the inhibition effect of tacrine on AChE, tacrine is also detected through the colorimetric AChE assay system within the concentrations range 0.025-0.4 μM with a LOD of 0.00229 μM. Hence, a rapid and facile colorimetric procedure to sensitively detect AChE and its inhibitor can be anticipated through modulating the oxidase-like activity of PdSP@rGO. Colorimetric method for detection of AChE and its inhibitor is established by modulating the oxidase mimetic activity of {100}-faceted Pd square nanoplates on reduced graphene oxide (PdSP@rGO).

Abstract
A highly sensitive colorimetric sensing strategy based on enzyme@metal-organic framework (GAA@Cu-MOF) and IrO2/MnO2 nanocomposite was exploited innovatively for screening of α-glucosidase (GAA) inhibitors. IrO2/MnO2 nanocomposite exhibits excellent oxidase-mimicking activity which can directly catalyze the oxidation of 3,3,5,5,-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) into a blue product with an absorption maximum at 652 nm. And GAA@Cu-MOF can decompose L-ascorbic acid-2-O-α-D-glucopyranosyl (AAG) to ascorbic acid (AA). The produced AA can destroy the IrO2/MnO2 nanocomposite and reduce its oxidase-like activity. However, the generation of AA is restricted when GAA inhibitors are added to the system, which allows the oxidase-like activity of the IrO2/MnO2 nanocomposite to be maintained. In view of this, a method for screening of GAA inhibitors was developed. In addition to enhancing the stability of GAA, the method can also effectively avoid the potential interference of H2O2 in the screening process of GAA inhibitors, which helps to improve the sensitivity of the method. Therefore, highly sensitive determination for acarbose and ascorbic acid are achieved with detection limits of 6.27 nM and 1.23 μM, respectively. The proposed method was successfully applied to screen potential GAA inhibitors from oleanolic acid derivatives. Graphical abstract.

Abstract
Monodispersed Au nanoparticles in ordered mesoporous carbon/silica (Au/OMCS) nanocomposites were prepared by the solvent evaporation induced self-assembly. Au/OMCS nanocomposites were characterized through XRD, BET, and TEM. The obtained nanocomposites exhibit uniform mesopores with the size of 18 ± 2 nm. And ultrafine Au nanoparticles with the size of 3~7 nm are well dispersed in the cavities. An ultrasensitive nanoenzyme sensor was fabricated based on a Au/OMCS-modified electrode. The Au/OMCS-modified electrode displays high xanthine oxidase-like catalytic activity evaluated through cyclic voltammetry (CV) and differential pulse voltammetry (DPV). The DPV response currents are linearly dependent on concentrations of xanthine (Xa) in the range 0.10-20 μM, along with a high sensitivity of 6.84 μA μM-1 cm-2 and very low detection limit of 0.006 μM (S/N = 3) under the optimal working potential of 0.64 V vs. SCE. Interference experiments show that the nanoenzyme sensor has no obvious responses to most potentially interfering species at a potential of 0.64 V. The fabricated sensor has been applied to the determination of Xa in spiked urine samples with recoveries ranging from 98.26 to 101.4%. Graphical abstract.

Abstract
Oxalate is commonly employed as adjuvant of pesticide agent, causing renal injury of human even in trace residues. Despite the great achievements of the existing point-of-care testing (POCT) technology, accurate on-site screening of oxalate remains a tricky issue. To this aim, we proposed a "lab in a tube" platform which integrated portable hydrogel kit with smartphone for real-time monitoring of oxalate to achieve quantitatively precise analysis. In this work, a stimuli-responsive hydrogel-based kit was constructed via embedding manganese dioxide (MnO2) nanosheets into sodium alginate hydrogel system. Based on the intrinsic oxidase-like activity, MnO2 nanosheets-based nanozyme triggered color reaction by introducing a common sensing probe 3,3',5,5'-tetramethylbenzidine. Meanwhile, the presence of oxalate would decompose MnO2 nanosheets, inducing the decrease of nanozyme activity, which resulted in the color response of portable kit. Coupling with ImageJ software, the image information of kit captured via smartphone could be transduced into the hue intensity, which provided a directly quantitative tool to detect oxalate with a detection limit of 8.0 μmol L-1. This portable smartphone biosensor was successfully applied for screening urine sample within 10 min for high-throughput analysis (twelve samples) without the need for any advanced analytical instruments. Based on the merits of simple operation, cost-efficiency, and good selectivity, the availability of the miniaturized biosensor platform for POCT will achieve the requirements of routine screening and disease prevention.

Abstract
This work demonstrates the inhibition effects of single-stranded (ssDNA) on the oxidase-like activity of a mixed-valence state cerium-based metal-organic framework, denoted as MVC-MOF. The MVC-MOF was synthesized by partial oxidation of cerium(III) which leads to the presence of both Ce(III) and Ce(IV) ions. The latter endows the MVC-MOF with a typical oxidase-like activity. However, on addition of ssDNA, the catalytic activity of the MVC-MOF is inhibited because it binds the MVC-MOF and thereby shield its active sites. This prevents the access of substrates. The inhibition by ssDNA depends on its length but not its sequence. By contrast, negligible changes in the oxidase-mimicking activity are observed if double-stranded DNA (dsDNA) is added. By employing a thymine-rich ssDNA (T-ssDNA) as a model DNA, a colorimetric assay was developed for the determination of Hg(II). This ion binds to T-ssDNA and causes the formation of T-dsDNA. Hence, the oxidase-mimicking activity is compromised. By using the oxidase substrate 3,3',5,5'-tetramethylbenzidine that gives a colored product in the presence of oxygen, the assay has a linear response that covers 0.05 to 6 μM Hg(II) with a detection limit of 10.5 nM, and exhibits high selectivity over other metal ions. The assay was successfully applied to the determination of Hg(II) in environmental water samples. Graphical abstract Schematic of the inhibition effect of ssDNA on the oxidase-like activity of MVC-MOF that converts colorless TMB to oxTMB with blue color in the presence of oxygen, and its application in the construction of a colorimetric assay for Hg(II) determination.
