Abstract
Suicidal thoughts and behaviors (STBs) are a significant public health problem. This study aims to examine the validity and reliability of the Turkish version of the Suicide Cognitions Scale-Revised (SCS-R). Participants (N = 442, age range: 18-29 years) completed the SCS-R, the Beck Depression Inventory, the Inventory of Statements About Self-injury, the Suicide Probability Scale, and the Suicide Rumination Scale. Principal component analysis showed that the SCS-R consisted of a single factor and that the SCS-R could differentiate between participants at high risk and low risk of suicide. High-to-moderate positive associations were found between the measures of depression, suicide probability, suicide rumination, and non-suicidal self-injury and suicide cognition. The Turkish version of the SCS-R has good psychometric properties. This scale can be used to screen for cognitive patterns that are most prone to suicide and to manage such cognitive characteristics, which are important steps for preventive interventions.

Abstract
This study investigated self-criticism, anger rumination, and death distress in wellbeing after one of the most devastating natural disasters of this century. The study included 399 participants from 56 different cities across Türkiye. Participants were from 3 groups: those who themselves or one of their nuclear families are earthquake survivors (group 1), those who had a loved one other than a nuclear family member who was an earthquake survivor (group 2), and those who were deeply affected by the earthquake through media networks (group 3). Results showed that women experienced higher death distress and anger rumination and lower mental wellbeing compared to men post-earthquake. Individuals in group 1 had significantly lower mental wellbeing and higher death distress than groups 2 and 3. However, the effect size of this significant differentiation depending on earthquake experience was small. Moreover, anger rumination and death distress fully mediated the link between self-criticism and mental wellbeing.

Abstract
PROBLEM The aim of this study is to determine the correlation between domestic violence awareness and attitudes toward child marriages among individuals living in Iğdır city. METHOD The correlational survey model was used in the study. The sample consisted of 814 adult individuals who lived in Iğdır city, did not have any health problem, and volunteered to participate in the study between September 2022 and January 2023. Personal Information Form, Domestic Violence Awareness Scale, and Attitude Toward Child(Girls) Marriages Scale were used to collect data. Data were obtained through online environment and face-to-face interview. FINDINGS It was found that 59.5% of the sample group were female and 27% were aged between 18 and 24 years. 61.9% of the participants were married and 88.1% were married when they were over the age of 18. In addition, 51.9% were university graduates while 50.9% of them stated that they had witnessed domestic violence. The results of the study revealed that while the variables of gender, age, marital status, education level, and place of residence affected the attitudes toward child marriages, the variables of gender, age, age at marriage, education level, place of residence and witnessing domestic violence affected domestic violence awareness. Furthermore, when examining the scales used, it was concluded that the attitude toward child marriages affected the awareness of domestic violence. CONCLUSION Since domestic violence and child marriages are very common, it is recommended to conduct further studies on these issues and to identify support systems that will increase the awareness of the society on these issues.

Abstract
The Türkiye-Syria earthquake struck eleven provinces directly in Türkiye on 6 February 2023. Emergency nutrition care is indispensable for sustaining the lives of victims and rescue personnel. To optimally support their well-being, emergency food must be both healthy (i.e. aligned with dietary guidelines) and safe. However, globally, there is a dearth of research on the emergency nutrition conditions in shelters in the immediate aftermath of natural disasters. This lack of scientific evidence could limit the extent to which nutritional gaps can be identified and remedied for future relief efforts. Therefore, the aim of this research was to evaluate the nutrition environment and nutritional quality of emergency meals distributed to survivors in Malatya, a heavily affected province in Türkiye. The rapid assessment was conducted in thirteen locations by using an embedded case-study design to evaluate the nutrition environment both quantitatively and qualitatively. Meals served to earthquake victims and volunteers were found to be insufficient in protein, fat, fibre, vitamin C, Ca and Fe, but Na levels were higher than the maximum threshold in many of the centres. The qualitative analysis illustrated insufficiency in three domains of the emergency food and nutrition environment: foods and beverages offered, cooking/food preparation and food safety and dining areas and other facilities. Given the major nutritional gaps identified in this study, future disaster preparations should implement emergency nutrition plans that ensure healthy, nutritious and safe food for survivors. Better coordination and use of technology are necessary for interventions to prevent malnutrition.

Abstract
The aim of the study is to determine the level of price that individuals living in Türkiye are willing to pay (WTP) for a hypothetical COVID-19 vaccine. In addition, the study also aims to identify the socioeconomic factors affecting that level of WTP. The data is collected via a virtually applied questionnaire. Probit estimations are employed to determine the level of price that is willing to be paid. Further, the socioeconomic factors affecting the revealed WTP level are identified with an ordered-probit estimation strategy. The average price level that the participants are willing to pay for two doses of a hypothetical COVID-19 vaccine which immunes for 12 months is ₺316.93 ($42.66). Higher education groups, public employees, married people, and urban individuals are more likely to pay at higher price levels of hypothetical COVID-19 vaccine. Interestingly, the individuals living with a pregnant woman or a baby, the ones who experienced severe COVID-19 disease and the ones who already decided to be vaccinated are more likely to pay at relatively low-price levels. This study may contribute to broader literature as it will provide evidence from Türkiye for international comparisons.

Abstract
This methodological study aimed to establish the validity and reliability of the Spiritual Care Needs Scale in the 9-18 age group within the Turkish context. Expert opinions were considered in the analysis of the study, which was completed with the participation of 840 children. The content validity index and Cronbach's alpha coefficients were examined, along with the results of the Shapiro-Wilk normality test and the explanatory and confirmatory factor analyses. The scale had 21 items under two subdimensions: "meaning and hope" and "caring and respect." According to the EFA, the scale explained 57.5% of the total variance. The meaning and hope subdimension explained 53.3% of the total variance, whereas the care and respect subdimension explained 4.16%. The total Cronbach's alpha value of the scale was 0.96, and the fit indexes were as follows: X2 = 513.807, df = 184, X2/df = 2.792, RMSEA = 0.065, GFI = 0.89, IFI = 0.94, NFI = 0.91, TLI = 0.93, CFI = 0.94, AGFI = 0.87, and GFI = 0.89. Therefore, the Spiritual Care Needs Scale is a valid and reliable measurement tool for the 9-18 age group in the Turkish population.

Abstract
This research presents the detailed development of the post-disaster spiritual coping scale, which aims to evaluate post-disaster spiritual coping processes. The study's first step in developing the scale has been to review the literature on the effects disasters have on the lives of individuals alongside spiritual coping's role in this process. The study has also taken into account the steps required when developing a scale. Data were initially collected from individuals who'd experienced the February 6 Kahramanmaraş earthquake, after which the scale items were created. In line with expert opinions, a pilot application of the scale was applied before the items took their final form. During the data collection phase, data were collected three times (N1 = 388, N2 = 194, N3 = 94). Exploratory factor analysis (EFA) was then performed, and the scale was concluded to consist of one dimension and 13 items. Afterward, confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was performed over the 13-item scale, confirming the results from the previous analysis. The CFA results also showed acceptable goodness-of-fit values to have been obtained (χ2/df = 2.200; RMSEA = 0.061; SRMR = 0.024; CFI = 0.933; GFI = 0.908). At the same time, each item in the scale was concluded to have a sufficient loading value. As a result of the analysis of internal consistency for the scale, Cronbach's alpha was found to be 0.950. Significant values were also obtained as a result of the criterion validity analysis for the developed scale. In conclusion, the final version of the post-disaster spiritual coping scale has been developed and validated, with the reliability and validity coefficients of the scale being found sufficient. This scale can be used as a powerful tool for evaluating the spiritual coping mechanisms of individuals who are being affected by disaster.

Abstract
In this study, the spatial distributions of organic contamination stressors in water of fluvial habitats in the Çanakkale Strait (ÇS) watershed were investigated and the data were assessed in terms of human health and mucilage threat. Seven significant riverine ecosystems flowing into the ÇS were defined in the basin. Water samples were taken in the spring season (2023), when the phytoplankton communities reach their highest densities. Then they were tested for a total of 8 limnological parameters. The Nutrient Pollution Index (NPI) and Water Quality Index (WQI) were applied to assess the comprehensive quality characteristics of waters. The Hazard Quotient (HQ) and Hazard Index (HI) were applied to indicate the prospective non-carcinogenic human health risks of organic stressors. Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and Cluster Analysis (CA) were applied to categorize the investigated habitats and define the sources of investigated contamination parameters. Also, Geographic Information System (GIS) was used to make an effective assessment through visualization. The determined spatial mean values of the measured variables in ÇS watershed as follows: 18.21 °C for temperature, 8.51 mg/L for DO, 4.57 NTU for turbidity, 3.95 mg/L for suspended solids, 1.11 mg/L for NO3-N, 0.012 mg/L for NO2-N; 0.173 mg/L for PO4-P and 2.32 mg/L for BOD. It has been determined that the organic pollution loads and water temperature values of the investigated sub-basins increase from the upstream to the downstream locations and Çanakkale Stream was recorded as the riskiest fluvial habitat for the ÇS watershed. According to the results of health risk assessment indices, non-carcinogenic risks of organic pollutants would not be expected for all age groups.

Abstract
The study investigated negative genital self-image in women and determined the effect of education on natural/normal female genital appearance diversity on the change in women's genital self-image. The type of research is a mixed method descriptive study. The participants were 259 women living in Turkey. In the first stage of the study, female genital self-image levels and body appreciation levels were evaluated. In the second stage of the study, women were interviewed thoroughly about negative female genital self-image, and then, visual education presentation was made on natural/normal female genital diversity. One week after the presentation, the women's genital self-image levels were re-evaluated. In the first phase of the study, the mean Female Genital Self-Image Scale (FGSIS) total score was 22.07 ± 4.07 and the mean Body Appreciation Scale (BAS) total score was 42.40 ± 8.13 of the women. Higher FGSIS and BAS scores showed an increase in women's positive genital self-image and body appreciation. The relationship between the FGSIS and the BAS scale scores of the women was found to be significantly correlated (r = 0.401, p < 0.001). In the second stage of the study, four main themes were examined as "positive thoughts," "size and image," "metaphors related to genital organs," and "negative thoughts." In conclusion, in the first phase, it was determined that women's feeling of discomfort with their sexual organs during sexual intercourse, comparing their genital organs with other women's genital organs, thinking of genital organ aesthetic surgery, and BAS scores were associated with FGSIS scores. In the second phase, women's positive or negative feelings and thoughts about their genital self-image were revealed.

Abstract
This study was conducted to determine the spiritual care needs of cancer patients receiving chemotherapy. A cross-sectional descriptive design was used to analyze a total of 104 patients at a university hospital in Turkey. The data were collected using the Spiritual Care Needs Scale. The mean age of the patients participating in the study was 61.0 (10.2). It was determined that 31.7% of the patients stated that the concepts of spirituality and spiritual care are related to religion and worship. As a result, it was found that the patients receiving chemotherapy had high-spiritual care needs. The dimensions in which the spiritual needs of the patients were remarkably high were belief and spiritual practices, being in peace and security, the love and support of their relatives and being informed about health. The spiritual care need score of the patients increased significantly with marital status (p = 0.001), having children (p = 0.002), having a chronic disease (p = 0.04) and having an undergraduate/graduate level education (p = 0.01). Nurses should be aware of patient's spiritual needs, plan patient-specific spiritual care practices, conduct more studies on the effects of spiritual care on the patient and family and create guidelines for spiritual care practices in patients receiving chemotherapy in Turkey.

Abstract
This study was carried out to detect the chewing lice species of domestic and wild birds in Türkiye, between the years of 2014-2021, and whether there is a correlation between the number of bird species and individuals and the prevalence, mean intensity and species of chewing lice. For this purpose, 206 bird samples as injured, or found dead on roads and gardens between these dates, in seventeen orders were examined for chewing lice. Of the 206 wild birds examined, 135 (65.53%) were infested with lice. A total of 73, of which 34 were Amblyceran and 39 were Ischnoceran chewing lice species, were identified. The genera Acidoproctus, Aegypoecus, Bonomiella, Esthiopterum, Gruimenopon, Heleonomus, Neopsittaconirmus, and the species Acidoproctus moschatae, Aegypoecus spp. (nymph), Amyrsidea minuta, Ardeicola maculatus, Ardeicola stellaris, Bonomiella columbae, Brueelia tasniemae, Colpocephalum nigrae, Colpocephalum percnopteri, Colpocephalum zerafae, Ciconiphilus pectiniventris, Esthiopterum gruis, Goniodes pavonis, Gruimenopon longum, Guimaraesiella amsel, Heleonomus macilentus, Kurodaia cryptostigmata, Kurodaia subpachygaster, Menacanthus kaddoui, Myrsidea isostoma, Neophilopterus tricolor, Neopsittaconirmus spp. (nymph), Pseudomenopon dolium, and Rallicola minutus are reported here for the first time. Based on statistical analysis, the host species and individual numbers are correlated with lice species numbers. It was also found that the host individual number is correlated with the mean intensity of the lice. Our results indicate that a large number of samples belonging to different host species are important in terms of data reliabilty.

Abstract
The massive earthquakes experienced in August and November 1999 affected thousands of people in the Marmara region, the most densely populated and industrialized part of Turkey. The humanitarian and economic cost was so enormous, and these earthquakes have changed the Turkish disaster management system and the Turkish people's approach to disasters. Marmara earthquakes are also considered as a milestone in the provision of psychosocial services for disaster victims. This paper aims to review the psychosocial interventions targeting children, adolescents, and their families after the 1999 earthquakes in Turkey. The progression from initial responses to more organized psychosocial interventions is outlined. Conducting the interventions at schools has ensured that thousands of children, teachers, and parents are reached in the most efficient and effective way possible. The significance of the school context in designing psychosocial interventions is highlighted and implications of the lessons learned for traumatic experiences of children and parents are also explored. It is evaluated that these inferences obtained from the Marmara earthquake in Turkey can be used in disasters around the world.

Abstract
PURPOSE The aim of this study is to examine the experiences of nurses who provide care to individuals in earthquake-affected areas of eastern Turkey. DESIGN A phenomenological design from qualitative research methods was utilized in this study. METHODS The study was conducted between May 29, 2023, and August 15, 2023, with 11 nurses working in the western region of Turkey's provinces through one-on-one semi-structured interviews. The interviews were conducted online and recorded on video. Content analysis was performed using the MAXQDA software package. FINDINGS Themes and sub-themes were identified from the expressions of nurses in line with research findings. Accordingly, 5 themes were determined for nurses providing care to individuals in the earthquake. zone: "challenges they face,""emotions they felt,""coping methods,""knowledge and skills"and "effects of earthquake". CONCLUSION The results obtained from this study demonstrated that nurses experienced difficulties due to environmental (hygiene, cold weather, shelter) and work-related (lack of coordination, psychosocial issues) conditions during the earthquake event. While providing care to individuals in earthquake-affected areas of eastern Turkey, nurses reported feelings of sadness, inadequacy, anxiety, and fear. They employed coping methods such as talking to family/friends, attempting not to dwell on thoughts, and turning to religious practices to manage these negative emotions. Nurses emphasized the necessity of having professional knowledge and crisis management skills to care for individuals during the earthquake period. In accordance with the findings of the research, it is recommended that nurses are provided with realistic training through simulations and drills in disaster management, as well as psychological support interventions.

Abstract
The study aims to determine water and beverage consumption status and related factors in daily nutrition of adults living in Turkey. This study was conducted with 6332 adults aged 18-65 years across Turkey. Demographics and anthropometric data of subjects, their daily water and beverage consumption habits were explored using the retrospective 24-hour recall method. Water and black tea were the most consumed beverages (1801.38 ± 11.06 mL/day, 455 ± 6.10 mL/day, respectively). Increased BMI was associated with a significantly decreased rate of insufficient fluid intake among the participants. Underweight individuals were found to be consuming less (by 0.558 times) fluid compared to those with normal BMI, while obese individuals appeared to have greater energy intake from daily fluid consumption (by 1.111 times). This study showed a relationship between water and beverage intake and anthropometric measurements, suggesting that further research on personalized water intake strategies is beneficial in weight management.

Abstract
The main purpose of this study is to adapt both the reliability and validity of the Faith Activities in the Home Scale into Turkish. Among the 355 university students, 190 female and 165 male students participated in this study, which was conducted using data obtained from Sakarya University students. The Faith Activities in the Home Scale are evaluated in two different aspects: importance and frequency. The fit indices obtained in confirmatory factor analysis according to frequency scoring (x2 = 65.50, SD = 21, RMSEA = 0.076, NFI = 0.92, NNFI = 0.90, IFI = 0.94, CFI = 0.94, RFI = 0.87, GFI = 0.96, AGFI = 0.92, SRMR = 0.046) and good fit indices (x2 = 56.31, SD = 21, RMSEA = 0.068, NFI = 0.95, NNFI = 0.95, IFI = 0.97, CFI = 0.97, RFI = 0.92, GFI = 0.97, AGFI = 0.93, SRMR = 0.042) obtained from confirmatory factor analysis according to importance scoring. The internal consistency reliability coefficient of the Faith Activities in the Home Scale for frequency scoring was 0.81, and the internal consistency reliability coefficient for importance scoring was 0.84. The corrected item-total correlation coefficients of the scale ranged between 0.41 and 0.55 for frequency scoring and between 0.36 and 0.63 for importance scoring. These findings imply that the Turkish version of the Faith Activities in the Home Scale can be considered a valid and reliable measurement tool that can be used in research.

Abstract
Internet use among children is increasing. This requires parents to develop digital parenting competencies as they are responsible for their children's well-being. In the current study the digital parenting self-efficacy perceptions of Turkish parents are examined with regard to the parental role, educational status, age, number of children, and Internet use experiences. Data were collected from a stratified sample of 7150 Turkish parents (i.e., only the mother or father in each family) from twenty-six provinces through the Digital Parenting Self-Efficacy Perception Scale. Descriptive statistics, comparison tests, and cluster analysis were used to analyze the data. The findings reveal that the participants' perceived digital parenting efficacy is high, and that perceptions change in terms of the parental role, educational status, age, number of children, and the Internet use experience.

Abstract
Anaplasma phagocytophilum is a vector-borne zoonotic pathogen and can infect various vertebrate hosts, especially cattle, sheep, goats, horses, and dogs. Molecular-based studies have revealed that the agent has a high genetic diversity and closely related strains circulate in hosts. In this study, 618 sheep blood samples obtained from different geographic regions of Türkiye were researched for A.phagocytophilum and related strains with PCR, RFLP, and DNA sequence analyses. The DNA of these pathogens was detected in 110 (17.79%) samples. RFLP assay showed that all positive samples were infected with A.phagocytophilum-like 1, whereas A.phagocytophilum-like 2 and A.phagocytophilum were not detected. Partial parts of 16 S rRNA gene of seven randomly selected positive samples were sequenced. The phylogenetic analyses of these isolates revealed that at least two A.phagocytophilum-like 1 isolates circulate among hosts in Türkiye and around the world. A.phagocytophilum-related strains have been reported in molecular-based studies over the last few years, but there is a lack of data on the vector competence, epidemiology, clinical symptoms, and genetic diversity of these pathogens. Therefore, large-scale molecular studies are still needed to obtain detailed data on the above-mentioned topics.

Abstract
In this study, the vegetative anatomical features of the taxa, which were previously named as Seseli gummiferum subsp. ilgazense A.Duran, Ö.Çetin & M.Öztürk and S. paphlagonicum Pimenov & Kljuykov, were compared with a closely related species, S. resinosum Freyn & Sint., which is also endemic in Türkiye. The root, the stem, the leaf segment, the petiole, and the rachis parts were examined anatomically and explained in detail for the first time to discuss the results of recent morphological and molecular studies with the anatomy of the taxa. The results show that S. gummiferum subsp. ilgazense and S. paphlagonicum have anatomically similar characters. However, in terms of the same characters, these taxa quite differ from a closely related species, S. resinosum. The most prominent different characters can be listed as the shape of stems, petioles and rachis, the presence of sclereids in the roots, the collenchyma arrangement of stems and petioles, the surface view of rachis and the sclerenchyma above floem in the stems and rachis. This revisional and detailed descriptive study highlights the importance of anatomy in the taxonomy of Apiaceae, and it is obvious that it will assist future taxonomic research in the genus. RESEARCH HIGHLIGHTS: Vegetative anatomical characters are also taxonomically important as well as the fruit anatomy in the family Apiaceae. The vegetative anatomy supports the molecular data that, the taxa named as S. gummiferum in Türkiye seem to be S. paphlagonicum.

Abstract
There is no study about all aspects of oropharyngoesophageal (OPE) dysphagia from diagnosis to follow-up in a multidisciplinary manner in the world. In order to close this gap, we aimed to create a recommendation study that can be used in clinical practice, addressing all aspects of dysphagia in the ICU in detail with the opinion of experienced multidisciplinary experts. This recommendation paper was generated by a multidisciplinary team, using the seven-step process and a three-modified Delphi round via e-mail. Firstly, 15 open-ended questions were created, and then detailed recommendations including general principles, management, diagnosis, rehabilitation, and follow-up were created with the answers from these questions, Each recommendation item was voted on by the experts as overall consensus (strong recommendation), approaching consensus (weak recommendation), and divergent consensus (not recommended). In the first Delphi round, a questionnaire consisting of 413 items evaluated with a scale of 0-10 was prepared from the opinions and suggestions given to 15 open-ended questions. In the second Delphi round, 55.4% were accepted and revised suggestions were created. At the end of the third Delphi round, the revised suggestion form was approved again and the final proposals containing 133 items were created. This study includes comprehensive and detailed recommendations, including a broad perspective from diagnosis to treatment and follow-up, as detailed as possible, for management of dysphagia in patients with both oropharyngeal- and esophageal-dysphagia in ICU.

Abstract
This study was conducted to determine and compare the spiritual care needs of cancer patients and their caregivers. A comparative descriptive, cross-sectional design was employed in this study. The study comprised 102 patients who were registered in the hospital's home care unit, as well as their caregivers (total number = 204). The data were collected using a personal information form and the Spiritual Care Needs Inventory. The cancer patients had a mean age of 69.5 years, while their caregivers' mean age was 53.1 years. According to the results, the cancer patients needed more spiritual care than their caregivers (p < 0.01). Patients' spiritual care needs differed significantly by employment status (p < 0.05). However, gender, educational level, and marital status did not have a significant difference in the spiritual care needs of the patients and their caregivers (p > 0.05). Moderately positive and significant (p < 0.05) correlations between patients and their caregivers were found for the total Spiritual Care Needs Inventory scores (r = 0.449), the meaning and hope subscale (r = 0.378), and the caring and respect subscale (r = 0.546). It is important to evaluate the spiritual needs of patients with cancer and their caregivers. In this evaluation, it is essential to elicit the perspectives of cancer patients and their caregivers concerning spiritual needs and religion. Effective spiritual care for patients and their caregivers can only be provided if their beliefs and priorities are taken into consideration.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The main causes of accidental trauma in children include road traffic accidents (RTAs) and falling from height (FFH). Rapid and accurate assessment of severity of injury is required to guide effective management. This retrospective study aimed to compare the Glasgow Coma Score (GCS), Pediatric Trauma Score (PTS), and Injury Severity Score (ISS) and outcomes for 118 pediatric trauma patients at a single Emergency Department (ED) in Turkey. MATERIAL AND METHODS Patients admitted to Ankara City Hospital due to high-energy trauma between November 1, 2019 and April 30, 2020 were analyzed retrospectively. Data for 118 patients with trauma by major mechanisms, aged 0-17, were collected. Demographic characteristics, trauma-related characteristics, outcomes, and GCS, PTS, and ISS values were compared. It was examined whether there was a relationship between trauma severity and prognosis. In this context, trauma severity was defined by these scores. RESULTS Of the 118 admitted patients, 66 (55.9%) were discharged from the ED, 33 (28%) were transferred to the intensive care unit (ICU), and 19 (16.1%) were admitted to non-ICU departments in the hospital. With hospitalization, patients with thoracic trauma (P<0.001; OR 11.1; 95% CI 3.0-40) and patients with abdominal trauma (P=0.003; OR 4.0; 95% CI 1.5-10.8) were discharged significantly less frequently than patients with other types of trauma. Patients with low ISS (P<0.001) and high PTS (P<0.001) were discharged more often. The relationship between diagnosis and hospitalization was significant (P<0.001). CONCLUSIONS RTA and FFH are the leading trauma mechanisms in children. Boys experience more trauma. ISS and PTS provide accurate predictions of severe and poor prognosis in pediatric trauma cases.

Abstract
Specialty cut flowers are in demand, especially in the domestic market as they can be grown with low production costs without the need for specially equipped greenhouses and offer diversity in terms of form, texture, and colour. These products, which are widely cultivated in the USA, are not well known in Türkiye. One of the main problems of the Turkish cut flower sector is its dependence on foreign inputs and the lack of product diversity. Therefore, specialty cut flower production can be an alternative crop for Türkiye, which has climatic advantages. The cut flower potential of plants such as Zinnia elegans, Tagates erecta, Helianthus annuus, Gomphrena globosa, Centaurea cyanus, and Cleome spinosa that are commonly grown in gardens has been evaluated. After harvesting these flowers grown in an open field in June-October 2020, the stem length (cm), stem thickness (mm), flower length (cm), flower diameter (cm), flower weight (g), and vase life (days) were measured. As a result of the evaluations, considering the phenological findings such as flowering and harvesting period, Zinnia elegans, Tagates erecta, Helianthus annuus, Gomphrena globosa, and Centaurea cyanus were found to be suitable for Eskişehir climatic conditions due to their long flowering periods. On the other hand, if the stem length value, which is one of the most important parameters for cut flowers, is taken as a reference, the minimum stem length value of 30 cm and above is met by Zinnia elegans, Tagates erecta, Helianthus annuus, and Cleome spinosa while the vase life value of 6 days and above is met by Zinnia elegans, Tagates erecta, Helianthus annuus, Gomphrena globosa, and Cleome spinosa. However, Cleome spinosa was not found to be suitable for the region due to its low yield value and short flowering period, while Zinnia elegans, Helianthus annuus, Tagates erecta, and Gomphrena globosa were found to be plants that could be evaluated for the region. In addition, it is believed that the cultivation of specialty cut flowers, with the selection of suitable species, will be an alternative production in regions without climatic advantages.

Abstract
In this study, we investigated whether the interaction effects of self-efficacy, life satisfaction, and sociocultural adjustment have significant negative effects on culture shock. The data were collected from 323 international students in Turkey, and the sample comprised 197 undergraduates (61%) and 126 graduates (39%). We administered the "Culture Shock Questionnaire," "General Self-Efficacy Scale", "The Satisfaction with Life Scale", and "Sociocultural Adaptation Scale" through an online survey. Of the participants, 86 were female (26.6%), and 237 were male (73.4%). The ages of the participants ranged from 18 to 32 (M = 22.11; SD = 4.23). In this study, we identified three structural models to test the relationships between culture shock, self-efficacy, life satisfaction, and sociocultural adjustment. The results supported our hypothesis (H1) that there would be a significant negative relationship between self-efficacy and culture shock. One-way MANOVA revealed that students with lower self-efficacy scores experienced greater culture shock. Conversely, students with higher self-efficacy scores experienced lower culture shock and interpersonal stress. Additionally, a multigroup analysis was conducted to test the assumed relationships in structural models for Muslim (such as Turkey, where the research was conducted, which is 90% Muslim) and Christian students. The results indicated that self-efficacy has a significantly greater negative impact on culture shock for Christian students than for Muslim students. Our study confirmed the hypothesis (H4) that life satisfaction and sociocultural adjustment serve as mediating variables between self-efficacy and culture shock. Both life satisfaction and sociocultural adjustment were found to have significant direct impacts on culture shock, and a meaningful mediating effect on the relationship between self-efficacy and culture shock was identified. Based on these findings, we concluded that self-efficacy may be particularly beneficial for coping with culture shock for people who do not embrace dominant religious beliefs in a local culture.

Abstract
Creating a method to categorize the ecological status of streams according to their biological conditions and establishing scientifically defensible nutrient criteria to protect their biotic integrity poses significant challenges. Biomonitoring of least disturbed areas is an important issue to accurately assess the ecological status of surface waters and ensure their sustainability. The fuzzy logic as a novel approach was firstly applied to evaluate the biological condition gradient of 44 sampled streams in the Ceyhan River Basin, utilizing two diatom indices, total phosphorus (TP), electrical conductivity (EC), and CORINE data. The fuzzy logic was employed to examine variations in the diatom compositions and land cover based on biological condition gradients (BCGs) of various streams and to assess the suitability of BCG in evaluating the health of studied stream systems. A three-layer fuzzy logic was constructed to predict BCGs of steams based on input data, with diatom metrics, TP, and EC representing BCGdia and land cover variables contributing to BCGland. The effects of operating variables were studied to optimize BCG results. The highest BCG score (0.85) was determined in Aksu Spring Brook in the spring, whereas the lowest value (0.05) was calculated in Erkenez Stream3 in the summer. BCGs showed strong relationships with nutrients, altitude, and EC. Results of BCGs indicated that sampling stations have various ecological statuses ranging from bad to high in the Ceyhan River Basin. The BCGdia and BCGland made important contributions to determine the ecological status of streams in the Ceyhan River Basin. Results showed that the BCG approach allows a more reliable way to determine the ecological status of streams in the Ceyhan River Basin by combining biological and chemical assessments for the sustainability of the environment. It is recommended that the BCG will be applied and evaluated in future research studies across various river basins, both within and outside of Turkey.

Abstract
Amphibians are the most endangered taxa among vertebrates, and they face many threats during their complex life cycles. The species' life history traits and occurrence database help understand species responses against ecological factors. Consequently, the species-level-trait database has gained more prominence in recent years as a useful tool for understanding the dimensions of communities, assembly processes of communities, and conserving biodiversity at the ecosystem level against environmental changes. However, in Turkey, there are deficiencies in the knowledge of the ecological traits of amphibians compared to other vertebrate taxa, as most studies have focused on their distribution or taxonomic status. Consequently, there is a need to create such a database for future research on all known extant amphibians in Turkey. We compiled a species-level data set of species traits and occurrences for all amphibians in Turkey using 436 literature sources. We completed 36 trait categories with 5611 occurrence data for 37 amphibian species in Turkey. This study provides an open, useful, and comprehensive database for macroecological and conservation studies on amphibians in Turkey.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Previous studies have provided important findings on the profession of dentistry and the motivators for choosing dentistry. This study has attempted to contribute to this accumulation by using a sociocultural perspective and interpreting the relationships among motivators from this perspective in a large Turkish sample. The aim of this study was to investigate what motivates dental students to choose dentistry as a career in Türkiye. METHODS First-year dental students from different dental schools were included in a descriptive cross-sectional study. The questionnaire included sections covering demographics, motivators and career satisfaction. A total of 919 students from 29 different state dental schools and four private dental schools participated. Descriptive statistics such as percentages, means and standard deviations were used to summarize the sociodemographic information and the distribution of the motivators. Factorial analysis was carried out for the structural status of the questionnaire items. The relationships between the motivators were analyzed using Pearson's correlation. RESULTS Among the 919 students, 64.2% were female, and 35.8% were male. Half of them chose dentistry after seeing their higher education institution's examination results, while the other half had already considered it a career during their preuniversity years. Communicating with people, artistic skills, and helping others were the main motivators for students to choose dentistry as a career in Türkiye, and students' overall career satisfaction was moderately high. The strongest correlations were between communication with people and benefits (r =.74), between communication with people and helping others (r =.71), between communication with people and artistic skills (r =.66), between artistic skills and benefits (r =.69), between artistic skills and helping others (r =.65), between dental experience and benefits (r =.51), between dental experience and helping others (r =.50), and between benefits and helping others (r =.71). CONCLUSION Helping others, artistic skills, communicating with people, and benefits were the most important factors motivating dental students to choose a career, and positive relationships were detected between these four factors. This information may help to develop more effective career guidance and mentorship strategies for dental students.

Abstract
Extensive research into dementia has more recently honed in on several key areas. These areas include the advancement of techniques such as the accumulation of amyloid-β and tau proteins, the monitoring of cerebral hypometabolism rates etc. The primary objective of this study is to explore the intricate interplay between Alzheimer's disease (AD)-other dementias (D) and various chronic illnesses in terms of time, intensity, and connectivity. In this context, we retrospectively examined data of 149,786 individuals aged 65 and above who received diagnoses of AD and D in the year 2020. At first, logistic regression (LR) analysis has been made with "sex", "age" and "foreigner" (citizenship status) independent variables for AD and D. The LR models shows that while "sex" and "age" variables have a small rate on the risk of developing AD/D, it is detected that being a foreigner increase the risk of AD and D as 69.8% and 88.5% respectively. Besides, the LR models have middle-level success prediction rate for both of the two dependent variables. Additionally, we used the parallel coordinates graphs method within the R Studio to visualize their relationships and connections. The findings of this investigation strongly suggest that AD/D don't stand as isolated conditions, but rather stem from intricate interactions and progressive processes involving diverse chronic diseases over time. Notably, ailments including hypertension, coronary artery disease, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, and psychological disorders, contribute substantially to the emergence of both AD and D. This study highlights that the fight against AD/D can only be possible with next-generation prophylactic interventions that can predict and manage risks. Such an approach holds the potential to potentially lower AD and dementia to levels that are amenable to treatment.

Abstract
BACKGROUND This study aimed to assess medication adherence and demographic, clinical, and psychopathological parameters such as quality of life, depression, and anxiety levels that can affect pediatrics with Wilson's Disease (WD). METHODS A prospective cohort study was conducted at an outpatient clinic in Turkey among pediatric patients (2 to 18 years) with WD between November 2022 and April 2023. The Medication Adherence Report Scale (MARS-5) as a subjective and Medication Possession Ratio (MPR) as an objective assessment were scored. Physical, genetic and biochemical parameters, the Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory (PedsQL) for both parents and patients, Childhood Depression Inventory, State Trait Anxiety Inventory were also administered. RESULTS A total of 30 pediatric outpatients who were prescribed D-penicillamine (n = 27) or trientine (n = 3) as chelators and zinc (n = 29) and pyridoxine (n = 19) as supplements were included. Proteinuria (n = 3), skin rash (n = 2), and gastrointestinal upset (n = 2) were observed. When the correlation between MARS-5 and duration of follow-up was examined, a significant negative correlation was found (p = 0.014). According to MPRs, non-adherence rates (missed doses ≥ 20%) were 29.6%, 17.2% and 5.3% for D-penicillamine, zinc and pyridoxine, respectively. PedsQL scores were higher than those of parents, with a positive correlation between them (p < 0.001). Also, there was a significant positive correlation between PedsQL and State Anxiety Inventory (p < 0.001). Comparing the change in urinary copper levels between different levels of treatment knowledge, significant differences were observed between high- and low levels (p = 0.043). CONCLUSIONS Overall, nonadherence rates were 23.3% based on MARS-5 and 5.3-29.6% based on MPR. It is essential to consider factors such as the duration of follow-up, biochemical parameters, treatment knowledge, quality of life and anxiety as potential influencers of medication adherence.

Abstract
This study was conducted for identifying phylogenetic relationships between 15 scab-causing Streptomyces species including S. bottropensis, S. europaeiscabiei, S. scabiei, S. stelliscabiei and, other 11 Streptomyces sp. All of the strains were originally isolated from symptomatic potatoes in Erzurum Province, The Eastern Anatolia Region of Turkey. Some morphological and biochemical properties of the strains were defined in our former research. Then, 16 s rRNA regions of them were sequenced. After the sequence data assembly, phylogenetic analyzes were performed. The phylogenetic analyses revealed that the strains are involved in the same major group and, substantially similar to reference strains. Additionally, some subgroup formations were also recorded. Moreover, Repetitive element-based PCR (Rep-PCR), Enterobacterial repetitive intergenic consensus (ERIC-PCR), and BOX-PCR fingerprinting molecular typing methods were used for as molecular typing methods. According to our knowledge, this is the first report on phylogenetic relationships of scab-causing Streptomyces species from Turkey. However, the identification of most pathogenic strains remained at the species level.

Abstract
Acanthocephaliasis is a zoonotic parasitic infection of vertebrates. The phylum Acanthocephala contains nearly 1500 acanthocephalan species. The Archiacanthocephala class is observed in terrestrial habitats and usually has a large, spineless trunk. Acanthocephalans are parasitic worms that use insects as intermediate hosts in their two-host life cycles. Insects, millipedes, and crustaceans in terrestrial areas serve as intermediate hosts and birds and mammals as definitive hosts. Acanthocephalans collected from the red fox (Vulpes vulpes) found dead on the road to Sarıkamış-Kars in 1995 and stored in formaldehyde were kept in Ondokuz Mays University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Veterinary Parasitology Laboratory Museum until 2023 after our parasitological study found an infected red fox with Pachysentis sp. This study provides the anatomy of the acanthocephalans and the laboratory practice necessary for a good and reliable diagnosis. This study reports a new species, Pachysentis sp., of acanthocephalan (thorny-headed worm) found in red foxes for Türkiye. On the basis of relevant articles, we have created a key to Acanthocephala species occurring in mammals.

Abstract
Due to a rising population and urbanization, the green areas have been decreasing in cities, with a negative impact on air pollution, human health, and ecosystem. As part of the urban environment, university campuses contribute to urban ecosystem with their vegetation. This study aims to (1) assess the change of vegetative land cover of the Çankırı Karatekin University in Turkey and (2) evaluate its benefits to the ecosystem in terms of carbon sequestration, storage, and improvement of air quality by means of a simulation. In the study, the density and vegetation change were assessed with NDVI and LST analyses in ArcGIS; carbon emissions and air pollution benefits were estimated in i-Tree Canopy tool. The study showed that the healthy vegetation consisting of trees/shrubs and grass/herbaceous, which was 32.2% (28 ha) in 2000, increased to 85% (74 ha) in 2020 NDVI maps, and the surface temperature also increased between 2000 and 2020 in LST maps. The rise in vegetation as grass/herbaceous areas instead of trees/shrubs and the use of impervious buildings/roads on the land surface increased the land surface temperature. As a result of the analyses in the i-Tree-Canopy tool, it was estimated that the trees/shrubs and grass/herbaceous vegetation canopy covering 31.42% of the study area removed a total of 512,845.65 g of pollutant gas and particles from the air, 20.79 tonnes of carbon sequestered annually, and 522.01 tonnes of carbon stored by vegetative land cover. In the simulation, where 32.62% soil/bare ground areas were converted to trees/shrubs in order to improve vegetation cover in the area, it was determined that it contributed 5 times more to the ecosystem service value for removing pollutants from the air, carbon storage, and improving the ecosystem. It was revealed that the vegetative land cover formed by tree/shrub species should be increased in the campus in the future. The study method model serves as a tool for planning and designing eco-friendly urban environment.

Abstract
Rivers are the principal route for terrestrial microplastics to reach the marine environment. The Black Sea exhibits a notable representation because it has a drainage zone almost six times the surface area and is semi-closed, meaning that microplastics tend to gather there. To mitigate MP pollution, it is necessary to identify the contamination sources and then raise public awareness. Thus, the current study focused on the MP presence in the sediment of streams running into the SE Black Sea. 594 MPs were observed in sediment samples from 16 stations along the 350 km coastline. The abundance of MP was higher, particularly in streams that pass through locations with high tourism and industrial activity levels. Detected MPs ranged between 0.1 and 5 mm, while the overall density was smaller than 1 mm. Fragments and fiber MPs were regularly detected, although the presence of films was rarely recorded. The polymer structures that were most commonly observed in the analyzed pollutants were PET and PE. The current study uncovered MP contamination in stream sediments originating from Türkiye's Eastern Black Sea basin and might be a baseline work for future inland water studies.

Abstract
AIM To assess the effectiveness of a training program on perceptions of caring culture among Turkish nurses and investigate the relationships among caring culture, job satisfaction, and intention to leave. BACKGROUND Every organisation has its on culture with its vairous components including values, symbols, practices and policies. Healthcare organizations need a favorable caring culture to support nurses and other professional working in the organisation. METHODS This was a quasi-experimental trial of an educational intervention conducted between October and December 2020 at a university hospital in Turkey. The sample of the study consisted of 86 nurses. A four-week training program based on caring culture was provided for the training group. The data were collected using a Personal Information Form, the Turkish version of the Caring Culture Survey, and the Job Satisfaction Scale. Intention to leave was measured with a single question. FINDINGS The mean total caring culture and personal caring scores of the training group were significantly higher after the training than before (p < 0.05). There were significant positive correlations between the mean caring culture total and subscale scores of the participants and their total job satisfaction scores. Besides, there were significant negative correlations between the caring culture total and subscale scores of the participants and their intentions to leave, but these relationships were weak or moderate (p < 0.05). CONCLUSION This training program based on caring culture can contribute to improving the caring culture perceptions of nurses. Caring culture is positively related to job satisfaction and negatively related to intentions to leave. IMPLICATIONS FOR NURSING AND HEALTH POLICY Healthcare organizations should prioritize creating a caring culture and designing initiatives that focus on caring culture. The perceptions of nurses about caring culture should be measured and identified regularly.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Deciding on the optimal duration of dual antiplatelet treatment (DAPT) remains a complex decision. This survey aims to explore the preferences for antiplatelet therapy and the daily routine regarding DAPT duration in coronary artery disease among a group of cardiologists in Türkiye. METHOD Using an online questionnaire with 38 questions, the preferences of 314 cardiologists were collected. Qualitative descriptive characteristics of the answers received from the participants were examined. RESULTS Participating cardiologists mostly worked in training and research hospitals (51.59%) and university hospitals (21.66%). Participants primarily favored ticagrelor in patients undergoing PCI with a diagnosis of STEMI and NSTE-ACS (69.75% and 55.73% respectively). Clopidogrel was the most preferred P2Y12 treatment in patients with chronic coronary syndrome (CCS) after PCI (94.90%). Pre-treatment with a loading dose of a P2Y12 receptor inhibitor was administered to 57.01% of patients with NSTE-ACS, irrespective of the planned treatment strategy. In NSTE-ACS patients with low bleeding risk treated with PCI, 83.12% of participants recommended DAPT for 12 months and 14.65% for >12 months. In high-bleeding-risk NSTE-ACS patients treated with PCI, DAPT durations of six months (74.52%), three months (19.75%), and one month (5.73%) were chosen. Among CCS patients treated with PCI without an increased risk of bleeding, 12 months of DAPT was preferred by 68.15% of participants. Most participants (70.70%) were switching to a more potent P2Y12 receptor inhibitor therapy in emergency department clopidogrel-loaded patients with ACS. CONCLUSION The aim of this survey to capture a snapshot of the preferences of a group of cardiologists in Türkiye regarding DAPT treatment and duration. The responses were both in accordance and in conflict with the current guidelines.

Abstract
This study reports new data for 1028 non-fatal occupational accidents dated between January 2010 and April 2015 by applying the analytical hierarchy process (AHP) technique. A comprehensive survey was conducted at four shipyards in Tuzla, Istanbul and Yalova regions in Turkey and a workplace questionnaire appropriate for the AHP technique was carried out. The obtained results indicated that inadequate safety equipment and protective clothing, unsuitable usage of machines and tools, and disobeying occupational health and safety (OHS) procedures were the most common risk factors for the accidents. Hence the preventive measures could be identified by analyzing non-fatal accident data. After the identification of the descriptive measures, the priority order of these measures was asked of the occupational safety professionals in the shipbuilding industry, and we used the AHP method to evaluate the results.

Abstract
This study examines the relationship between perceived workplace toxicity and stress of employees in the hospitality industry and emotional eating behaviors within the context of their physical activity levels. A cross-sectional design from amongst the quantitative research methods was used, in which data were collected via questionnaires from 846 participants who work in five-star hotels in Alanya, Turkey. The study concluded that workplace toxicity positively predicts stress and emotional eating, and the impact of workplace toxicity on emotional eating occurs via stress. Furthermore, physical activity plays a moderating role in the effect of workplace toxicity and stress on emotional eating. As employees' physical activity levels drop, the effect of both stress and workplace toxicity on emotional eating significantly increases. These results reveal that physical activity buffers the negative effects of workplace toxicity and stress on emotional eating.

Abstract
In this research, the evaluation of in vitro chymotrypsin and trypsin inhibitory activities of ten plant species collected from Rize were aimed, and fractions that showed strong activity were analyzed through HPLC. Daphne pontica L. and Mentha longifolia (L.) L. were found to have the highest chymotrypsin inhibitory activities (87.75 and 84.24 % inhibition). Similarly, the highest trypsin inhibitory activity was observed in D. pontica (%99.93 inhibition), followed by Sambucus ebulus L. flowers (87.47 % inhibition). Extracts showing strong enzyme inhibition were fractioned and subjected to activity tests. The highest chymotrypsin inhibitory activity was observed in the n-hexane fraction of D. pontica (%80.70 inhibition), while the highest trypsin inhibitory activity was found in the n-butanol fraction of S. ebulus (%86.81 inhibition). HPLC studies determined that the 80 % ethanol extract of D. pontica and its dichloromethane and ethyl acetate fractions contained umbelliferone. It was found that chlorogenic acid was present in the 80 % ethanol extracts of S. ebulus flowers. M. longifolia was found to contain chlorogenic acid, caffeic acid, luteolin-7-glucoside, and rosmarinic acid. M. longifolia has been identified as the plant exhibiting the highest antioxidant activity in ABTS and CUPRAC tests, consistent with its high phenolic and flavonoid content.
