Abstract
Bohai Black (BHB) cattle, one of eight representative indigenous breeds in China, is well known for its high resistance to disease, endurance under unfavorable feeding conditions and excellent meat quality. Over recent, the number of BHB cattle has decreased sharply. To investigate the population structure and genetic diversity of this breed, the whole-genome data of 35 individuals from a conservation farm were obtained using the Illumina 150 bp paired-end platform. The results of the genetic structure and diversity analyses showed that BHB cattle had mixed Bos taurus and Bos indicus ancestry, close phylogenic relationships with Jiaxian Red and Luxi cattle and abundant genetic diversity. The bulls tested here could be divided into six families. This study presents a comprehensive evaluation of the genetic structure and diversity of the BHB cattle, and lays the theoretical basis for conservation and utilization of the valuable germplasm resource.

Abstract
The determination of chirality of circularly polarized light (CPL) is of great significance to the development of various optical techniques. In this paper, a miniature circular polarization analyzer (CPA) based on surface plasmon polariton (SPP) interference is proposed. The proposed CPA consists of a micron scale long sub-wavelength slit and two groups of spatially arranged periodic sub-wavelength rectangular groove pairs, which are etched in a metal layer. Under the illumination of a CPL with a given chirality, the proposed CPA is capable of forming SPP-mediated interference fringes with different periods in far field. The chirality of CPL can be directly and quantitatively differentiated by the frequency value of the far field SPP-mediated interference fringes. Different from the existing SPP-based CPAs, the proposed CPA can directly image the chirality information in far field, avoiding near-field imaging of the SPP field.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The cartilage degeneration that accompanies subchondral bone necrosis plays an important role in the development of osteonecrosis of femoral head (ONFH). To better understand the molecular basis of cartilage degradation in ONFH, we compared the proteomic profiles of ONFH cartilage with that of fracture control. DESIGN Hip cartilage samples were collected from 16 ONFH patients and 16 matched controls with femoral neck fracture. Proteomics analysis was conducted using tandem mass tag-based quantitation technique. Gene ontology (GO) analysis, KEGG pathway and protein-protein interaction analysis were used to investigate the functions of the altered proteins and biological pathways. Differentially expressed proteins including alpha-2-HS-glycoprotein (AHSG) and Cytokine-like protein 1 (Cytl1) were validated by Western blot (WB) and immunohistochemistry (IHC). RESULTS 303 differentially expressed proteins were identified in ONFH cartilage with 72 up-regulated and 231 down-regulated. Collagen turnover, glycosaminoglycan biosynthesis, metabolic pathways, and complement and coagulation cascades were significantly modified in ONFH cartilage. WB and IHC confirmed the increased expression of AHSG and decreased expression of Cytl1 in ONFH cartilage. CONCLUSIONS Our results reveal the implication of altered protein expression in the development of ONFH, and provide novel clues for pathogenesis studies of cartilage degradation in ONFH.

Abstract
4,4′-(9-Fluorenylidene) diphenol (BPFL, also known as BHPF and fluorene-9-bisphenol) is a novel bisphenol A substitute that is used in the plastics industry as an organic synthesis intermediate and is a potential endocrine disruptor. However, the deleterious effects of BPFL on porcine Sertoli cells (SCs) and the possible underlying mechanisms are still unclear. Chlorogenic acid (CA) is a free radical scavenger in the cellular antioxidant system that prevents oxidative damage and apoptosis. In the present research, we found that BPFL induced impairments in porcine SCs in a dose-dependent manner and that CA protected porcine SCs against BPFL exposure-induced impairments. Cell viability, proliferation and apoptosis assay results revealed that BPFL exposure could inhibit porcine SC proliferation and induce apoptosis, while CA supplementation ameliorated the effects of BPFL. Further analysis revealed that BPFL exposure induced oxidative stress, mitochondrial membrane potential dysfunction and DNA damage accumulation. Transcriptome analysis and further real-time quantitative PCR and Western blot results showed that BPFL exposure induced endoplasmic reticulum stress and apoptosis. Supplementation with CA dramatically ameliorated these phenotypes in BPFL-exposed porcine SCs. Overall, the present research reveals the possible underlying mechanisms by which BPFL exposure induced impairments and CA supplementation protected against these impairments in porcine SCs.

Abstract
Advances in bronchoscopic and other interventional pulmonology technologies have expanded the sampling procedures pulmonologist can use to diagnose lung cancer and accurately stage the mediastinum. Among the modalities available to the interventional pulmonologist are endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial needles aspiration (EBUS-TBNA) and transoesophageal bronchoscopic ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration (EUS-B-FNA) for sampling peribronchial/perioesophageal central lesions and for mediastinal lymph node staging, as well as navigational bronchoscopy and radial probe endobronchial ultrasound (RP-EBUS) for the diagnosis of peripheral lung cancer. The role of the interventional pulmonologist in this setting is to apply these procedures based on the correct interpretation of clinical and radiological findings in order to maximise the chances of achieving the diagnosis and obtaining sufficient tissue for molecular biomarker testing to guide targeted therapies for advanced non-small cell lung cancer. The safest and the highest diagnosis-yielding modality should be chosen to avoid a repeat sampling procedure if the first one is non-diagnostic. The choice of site and biopsy modality are influenced by tumour location, patient comorbidities, availability of equipment and local expertise. This review provides a concise state-of-the art account of the interventional pulmonology procedures in the diagnosis and staging of lung cancer.

Abstract
Glycine is a well-known free radical scavenger in the cellular antioxidant system that prevents oxidative damage and apoptosis. Excessive fluoride exposure is associated with multiple types of cellular damage in humans and animals. The objective of the present study was to investigate the protective effects of glycine on sodium fluoride (NaF) exposure and the possible underlying mechanisms in a porcine testicular Sertoli cell line model. Cellular viability and proliferation were examined following NaF exposure and glycine supplementation, and glycine dramatically ameliorated the decreases in NaF-induced porcine testicular Sertoli cell viability and proliferation. Further investigations revealed that glycine decreased NaF-induced intracellular reactive oxygen species production, DNA fragment accumulation and the apoptosis incidence in the porcine testicular Sertoli cell line; in addition, glycine improved mitochondrial function and ATP production. Notably, results of the SPiDER-β-Gal analysis suggested that glycine alleviated NaF-induced cellular senescence and downregulated P53, P21, HMGA2 and P16INK4a gene expression in the porcine testicular Sertoli cell line. Collectively, the beneficial effects of glycine alleviate NaF-induced oxidative stress, apoptosis and senescence, and together with our previous findings, support the hypothesis that glycine plays an important role in protecting against NaF exposure-induced impairments in the porcine testicular Sertoli cell line.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the efficacy of sodium zirconium cyclosilicate on emergency correction of hyperkalemia in chronic kidney disease patients. Methods: Patients with chronic kidney disease who were admitted to the Department of Nephrology of the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University from May to June 2020 were selected. Those who had hyperkalemia and took sodium zirconium cyclosilicate powder were finally included. The patient's clinical data and laboratory results were collected. Results: A total of 24 results were included from 21 patients. The age of patients was (48.9±13.5) years old. Fourteen patients were male, and 7 patients were female. After 2 hours of administration, the venous potassium level decreased from (5.85±0.52) mmol/L to (5.15±0.43) mmol/L (P<0.001, n=21), with an average decline of (0.71±0.43) mmol/L. Meanwhile, the arterial potassium level decreased from (5.50±0.40) mmol/L to (4.88±0.33) mmol/L (P<0.001, n=10), with an average decline of (0.62±0.29) mmol/L. Based on the initial venous potassium level, the patients were further divided into three groups. The average potassium decrease in<5.5 mmol/L group (4 patients), 5.5-<6.0 mmol/L group (11 patients) and ≥6.0 mmol/L group (6 patients) was (0.46±0.26) mmol/L, (0.62±0.38) mmol/L and (1.04±0.45) mmol/L, respectively. There was statistically significant difference of potassium reduction among the three groups (P=0.045). Moreover, the extent of potassium reduction was positively correlated with baseline venous potassium level (r=0.603, P=0.004, n=21). The study did not reveal any treatment-related adverse event. Conclusion: Sodium zirconium cyclosilicate powder can rapidly and effectively reduce the serum potassium level in chronic kidney disease patients with hyperkalemia.

Abstract
We report a flexible method to dynamically generate multiple sub-wavelength focal spot pairs with adjustable polarization, position and number at the focal plane of a high numerical aperture (NA) objective lens. The desired incident field on the pupil plane can be analytically derived by employing the time-reversed method combined with the dipole antenna radiation theory. The numerical simulations of the corresponding tightly focused field are conducted using the Richards-Wolf vectorial diffraction theory. The validity of the presented method is demonstrated through experimental generation of several designed pupil fields with a versatile vectorial optical field generator and characterization of the produced focused fields with Stokes parameter measurements.

Abstract
In symmetric nano/micro metal slit structures, interference patterns are produced by counter-propagating surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) in the the center of structures, which can be employed to improve the resolution of microscopy and surface etching and to realize particle trapping. This paper focuses on the shift of the SPP interference patterns in the symmetric arc slit structures. The excitation models with one incident beam and two incident beams are established and analyzed respectively, and methods to shift the SPP interference patterns via adjusting the tilt angle and initial phase of the excitation beams are compared. The FDTD simulation results show that these methods can precisely shift the SPP interference patterns in the symmetrical arc slits. Compared to the linear slits, the SPP waves arising from arc slits are more strongly focused, resulting in a stronger gradient force. The characteristics of stronger focus and dynamic shifting of the focal spot give the symmetric arc slit structure unique advantages in the capture and transfer of the Rayleigh metallic particle.

Abstract
A skyrmion is a topologically protected soliton with a spin structure on the micro/nano scale that has promising applications in magnetic information storage and spintronics devices. This study focuses on the optical skyrmion lattice structures created in the surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) field. Both the Néel-type optical skyrmion lattice formed by the electric field vector and Bloch-type optical skyrmion lattice formed by the magnetic field vector are generated via exciting a hexagonal grating structure on the metal surface with six Gaussian optical spots. Such a multiple-spot excitation can be realized through tightly focusing a specially designed complex field with a high NA lens. Through introducing the phase difference of the excitation beams to shift the SPP standing waves, the shape and position of the optical skyrmion lattice can be dynamically controlled. Both the electric field vector and magnetic field vector are evaluated quantitatively based on the electric and magnetic field obtained by finite difference time domain (FDTD) simulation to demonstrate the validity and capability of the proposed technique.

A 54-year-old man was admitted to respiratory department with chief complaints of recurrent cough and dyspnea. Chest imaging showed multiple patchy shadows and interstitial changes. Evidence of infectious diseases was not definite, and antibiotic treatments were not effective. In the meantime, myelodysplasia syndrome was diagnosed with pancytopenia. The pathologic findings of transbronchoscopic lung biopsyshowed chronic inflammatory interstitial changes, suggesting a clinical diagnosis of organizing pneumonia. After glucocorticoids treatment, his condition aggravated. The second percutaneous lung biopsy showed the infiltration of a large number of neutrophils. Therefore, the final diagnosis of myelodysplasia syndrome with Sweet syndrome was made. Then glucocorticoids and supportive treatment were given This case may improve physicians' understanding of myelodysplasia syndrome complicated with Sweet syndrome.

Abstract
Low-density lipoprotein receptor-related protein 1 (LRP1) is an important signal protein that is widely involved in physiological processes, such as lipid metabolism, cell movement, and disease processes. However, the relationship between LRP1 and meat quality remains unknown in chickens. The present study aimed to investigate the correlation between LRP1 and meat quality that builds on our preliminary research, as well as to reveal the underlying molecular mechanism of LRP1 on meat-quality traits. The results showed that LRP1 was significantly correlated with shear force (P < 0.05). Several key genes involved in muscle growth and development, including IGF-1, IGFBP-5, IGF-1R, IGF-2, and MyoD, were down-regulated significantly (P < 0.05 or P < 0.01), and MSTN was up-regulated significantly (P < 0.01) in the presence of LRP1 interference. Cell proliferation- or apoptosis-related genes, including PMP22, CDKN2C, and p53, increased significantly (P < 0.05 or P < 0.01), whereas Bcl-x decreased significantly (P < 0.05) in the RNAi group. We conclude that LRP1 regulates muscle fiber development in cooperation with related genes that affect myoblast proliferation and apoptosis, thereby impacting shear force in chickens. This study will provide a valuable resource for biological investigations of muscle growth and meat-quality-related genes in chickens. The results could be useful in identifying candidate genes that could be used for selective breeding to improve meat quality.
