Abstract
Previous reports have confirmed that crude saponins (ginsenosides) in Panax ginseng have a preventive effect on chemotherapy-induced intestinal injury. However, the protective effects and possible mechanisms of ginsenoside Re (G-Re, a maker saponin in ginseng) against chemotherapy-induced intestinal damage have not been thoroughly studied. In this work, a series of experiments in vivo and in vitro on the intestinal toxicity caused by cisplatin have been designed to verify the improvement effect of G-Re, focusing on the levels of Wnt3a and [Formula: see text]-catenin. Mice were intragastric with G-Re for 10 days, and intestinal injury was induced by intraperitoneal administration of cisplatin at a dose of 20 mg/kg. Histopathology, gastrointestinal digestive enzyme activities, inflammatory cytokines, and oxidative status were evaluated to investigate the protective effect. Furthermore, in IEC-6 cells, G-Re statistically reverses cisplatin-induced oxidative damage and cytotoxicity. The TUNEL and Hoechst 33258 staining demonstrated that G-Re possesses protective effects in cisplatin-induced apoptosis. Additionally, pretreatment with G-Re significantly alleviated the apoptosis via inhibition of over-expressions of B-associated X (Bax), as well as the caspase family members, such as caspase 3 and 9, respectively, in vivo and in vitro. Notably, western blotting results showed that G-Re treatment decreased Wnt3a, Glycogen synthase kinase [Formula: see text] (GSK-[Formula: see text]), and [Formula: see text]-catenin expression, suggesting that nuclear accumulation of [Formula: see text]-catenin was attenuated, thereby inhibiting the activation of GSK-[Formula: see text]-dependent Wnt/[Formula: see text]-catenin signaling, which was consistent with our expected results. Therefore, the above evidence suggested that G-Re may be a candidate drug for the treatment of intestinal injury.

Abstract
As the cost of diabetes treatment continues to grow, it is critical to accurately predict the medical costs of diabetes. Most medical cost studies based on convolutional neural networks (CNNs) ignore the importance of multi-granularity information of medical concepts and time interval characteristics of patients' multiple visit sequences, which reflect the frequency of patient visits and the severity of the disease. Therefore, this paper proposes a new end-to-end deep neural network structure, MST-CNN, for medical cost prediction. The MST-CNN model improves the representation quality of medical concepts by constructing a multi-granularity embedding model of medical concepts and incorporates a time interval vector to accurately measure the frequency of patient visits and form an accurate representation of medical events. Moreover, the MST-CNN model integrates a channel attention mechanism to adaptively adjust the channel weights to focus on significant medical features. The MST-CNN model systematically addresses the problem of deep learning models for temporal data representation. A case study and three comparative experiments are conducted using data collected from Pingjiang County. Through experiments, the methods used in the proposed model are analyzed, and the super contribution of the model performance is demonstrated.

Abstract
With maximum atomic utilization, transition metal single atom catalysts (SACs) show great potential in electrochemical reduction of CO2 to CO. Herein, by a facile pyrolysis of zeolitic imidazolate frameworks (ZIFs) assembled with tiny amounts of metal ions, a series of metal-nitrogen-carbon (M-N-C) based SACs (M = Fe, Ni, Mn, Co and Cu), with metal single atoms decorated on a nitrogen-doped carbon support, have been precisely constructed. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) for M-N-C showed that the N 1s spectrum was deconvoluted into five peaks for pyridinic (∼398.3 eV), M-N coordination (∼399.6 eV), pyrrolic (∼400.4 eV), quaternary (∼401.2 eV) and oxidized (∼402.9 eV) N species, demonstrating the existence of M-N bonding. High-angle annular dark-field scanning transmission electron microscopy (HAADF-STEM) indicates homogeneous distribution of metal species throughout the N-doped carbon matrix. Among the catalysts examined, the Fe-N-C catalyst exhibits the best catalytic performance in electrocatalytic CO2 reduction reaction (CO2RR) with nearly 100% faradaic efficiency for CO (FECO) at -0.9 V vs. the reversible hydrogen electrode (RHE). Ni-N-C is the second most active catalyst towards CO2RR performance, then followed by Mn-N-C, Co-N-C and Cu-N-C. Considering the optimum activity of Fe-N-C catalyst for the CO2RR, we then further investigate the effect of pyrolysis temperature on CO2RR of the Fe-N-C catalyst. We find the Fe-N-C catalyst pyrolyzed at 1000 °C exhibits the best catalytic activity in CO2RR with excellent CO selectivity.

Abstract
In order to study the effect of cadmium ions on the mechanical properties and micro-structure characteristics of the red clay in Guilin, we have conducted triaxial test and the scanning electron microscope tests to analyze the effects of cadmium ion concentration and the number of dry and wet cycles on the mechanical properties and micro-structure changes of the red clay. The results showed the effects of cadmium ions and dry-wet cycles destroy the structure of red clay. The cohesive force of red clay decreases with the increase of cadmium ion concentration, and the internal friction angle first increases and then decreases. With the rise in the number of dry and wet cycles, the cohesive force of cadmium-contaminated red clay first increases and then decreases, and the angle of internal friction rises gradually. Under the action of different cadmium ion concentrations, the stress-strain curve is strain hardening. With the concentration of cadmium ions increases, the strain hardening becomes more apparent; the peak value reached faster. and the axial strain corresponding to the peak value of the line decreases. With the increase in the number of wet and dry cycles, the volume of cadmium-contaminated red clay shrinks and its compactness increases; it gets the peak shear strength faster during the shearing process, and its peak value becomes larger and larger. The main reason for the phenomenon is that cadmium ions destroy the cementation between the particles. The soil particles are mainly in point contact which loosens the structure of the soil; on the other hand, the thickness of the surface diffusion layer of the clay particles increases through chemical action, The exchange of cations increases the porosity of the soil and weakens its strength. The dry-wet cycle shrinks the volume of the red clay, and the soil particles are mainly in surface contact; as the number of dry-wet cycles increases, the soil particles connection is closer, the soil porosity decreases and the strength increases.

Abstract
This perspective highlights the recent advances in the structural and practical aspects of thorium-based metal-organic frameworks (Th-MOFs) and molecular clusters. Thorium, as an underexplored actinide, features surprisingly rich coordination geometries and accessibility of the 5f orbital. These features lead to a myriad of topologies and electronic structures, many of which are undocumented for other tetravalent metal-containing MOFs or clusters. Moreover, Th-MOFs inherit the modularity, structural tunability, porosity, and versatile functionality of the state-of-the-art MOFs. Recognizing the radioactive nature of these thorium-bearing materials that may limit their practical uses, Th-MOFs and Th-clusters still have great potential for various applications, including radionuclide sequestration, hydrocarbon storage/separation, radiation detection, photoswitch, CO2 conversion, photocatalysis, and electrocatalysis. The objective of this updated perspective is to propose pathways for the renaissance of interest in thorium-based materials.

Abstract
Objective: To compare the overnight variation trends in the duration of obstructive apnea events, and to explore the adaptive capacity to the pathophysiological consequences of periodic sleep disordered-breathing and its underlying mechanism in patients with obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS). Methods: A retrospective analysis were performed of the polysomnographic (PSG) results of 89 snoring patients including 10 non-OSAHS, 15 mild, 29 moderate and 35 severe OSAHS. The total record time was divided into four equal phases, and the variation trends of the mean apnea duration (MAD) and the longest apnea duration (LAD) were compared with the progression of sleep phases in different groups. Correlation analysis was conducted with demographic indicators, pulse oxygen saturation (SpO2) and sleep related indicators. In addition, the number of apneas-time variability curve was plotted for fitting analysis. Results: In patients with severe OSAHS, both MAD [26.1(20.9, 31.4) s] and LAD [56.5(46.5, 82.0) s] were significantly higher than those of non-OSAHS, mild and moderate OSAHS (P<0.001). In addition, the MAD in the third and fourth quartiles were significantly higher than that in the first quartile [(28.4±9.0) s, (27.3±9.8) s, (22.3±9.9) s, respectively, P=0.046], and the LAD in the third quartile was significantly higher than that in the first quartile [56.5(38.5, 71.0) s, 41.0(28.0, 53.0) s, respectively, P=0.018]. In all subjects, the MAD and LAD in the third and fourth quartiles were significantly higher than those in the first quartile [MAD: 20.3(10.3, 29.2) s, 18.5(11.3, 24.2) s, 12.9(0.0, 21.8) s, respectively, P<0.001; LAD: 28.0(10.3, 50.5) s, 28.0(12.0, 44.5) s, 14.5(0.0, 32.3) s, respectively, P<0.001]. There was no statistical difference in the lowest SpO2 (LSpO2), the mean SpO2 (MSpO2), and the percent of sleep time oxygen saturation below 90% (T90%) of all subjects in different sleep phases (P>0.05). The LAD was positively correlated with obstructive apnea index (OAI, OR=1.660, P=0.025), but no correlation was observed with other indicators (P>0.05). The MAD increased 0.22 s per episode at the onset of sleep (1-31 apnea events), then dropped to 0.04 s of increase per episode, with a dynamics change of 5.5-fold slower. Conclusions: The MAD and LAD show a gradual prolongation trend with the progression of sleep phases, and the prolongation trend is the most obvious in patients with severe OSAHS, while the dynamic change trend of SpO2 is not obvious. There may be multiple adaptation mechanisms for recurrent hypoxic episodes, and the adaptation occurr in stages, with a rapid increase in MAD at the onset of sleep, follow by a markedly slower increase. Patients with severe OSAHS express the most complete pattern, suggesting the most severe pathophysiological outcomes.

Abstract
Effective detections of radionuclides including uranium and its predominant fission products, for example, iodine, are highly desired owing to their radiotoxicity and potential threat to human health. However, traditional analytical techniques of radionuclides are instrument-demanding, and chemosensors targeted for sensitization of radionuclides remain limited. In this regard, we report a sensitive and selective sensor of UO22+ and I- based on the unique quenching behavior of a luminescent Zr-based metal-organic framework, Zr6O4(OH)4(OH)6(H2O)6(TCPE)1.5·(H2O)24(C3H7NO)9 (Zr-TCPE). Immobilization of the luminescent tetrakis(4-carboxyphenyl)ethylene (TCPE4-) linkers by Zr6 nodes enhances the photoluminescence quantum yield of Zr-TCPE, which facilitates the effective sensing of radionuclides in a "turn-off" manner. Moreover, Zr-TCPE can sensitively and selectively recognize UO22+ and I- ions with the lowest limits of detection of 0.67 and 0.87 μg/kg, respectively, of which the former one is much lower than the permissible value (30 μg/L) defined by the U.S. EPA. In addition, Zr-TCPE features excellent hydrolytic stability and can withstand pH conditions ranging from 3 to 11. To facilitate real-world applications, we have further fabricated polyvinylidene fluoride-integrating Zr-TCPE as luminescence-based sensor membranes for on-site sensing of UO22+ and I-.

Abstract
The lack of suitable cathode materials with a high capacity and good stability is a crucial problem affecting the development of aqueous Zn-ion batteries. Herein, a novel strategy for the modification of V2CTx through molten salt thermal treatment is proposed. In the novel route, S heteroatoms were introduced into V2CTx through a substitution reaction during the dissolution of Li2S in LiCl-KCl molten salts. Then, surface V2O5 was obtained through the in situ electrochemical charging/discharging of the S-doped V2CTx (MS-S-V2CTx) cathode. The assembled Zn/MS-S-V2CTx battery showed a high reversible discharge capacity of 411.3 mAh g-1 at a current density of 0.5 A g-1, an 80% capacitance retention after long cycle stability tests at 10 A g-1 for 3000 cycles, and a high energy density of 375.5 Wh kg-1 in 2M ZnSO4. Density functional theory calculations demonstrate that the improved electrochemical performance of the cathode can be attributed to the introduced S heteroatoms, which considerably reduced the ion diffusion energy barrier for Zn2+ ions and improved the stability of V2O5. This work provides a novel method to produce highly active and stable vanadium-based cathodes for aqueous Zn-ion batteries.

Abstract
Objective: To better understand the clinical characteristics of pulmonary nocardiosis associated with bronchiectasis. Methods: Patients diagnosed as bronchiectasis complicated with pulmonary nocardiosis in 9 tertiary general hospitals in China were enrolled from March 2016 to March 2020, with the record of general data, imaging performance and pathogen. The literature was reviewed. Results: Totally 17 patients were included. There were 12 females and 5 males. The ages ranged from 45 to 79 years, with an average of (63±9) years. There were 15 nonsmokers and 2 smokers, all of whom with chronic course. The clinical manifestations were mostly cough, expectoration, hemoptysis, fever, and dyspnea. The imaging manifestation was bronchiectasis in both lungs, with the most common involvement in the left lower lung, right middle lobe and left lingual lobe. Sputum cultures were positive in 10 cases, bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) cultures were positive in 6 cases, and next generation gene sequencings were positive in 4 cases, including 2 cases of Nocardia gelsenkii, 2 cases of Nocardia abscess, 2 cases of Nocardia stellate, 1 case of Nocardia mexicana, 1 case of Nocardia otitis caviae, and 9 cases of undetermined Nocardia. There were 3 cases of Klebsiella pneumoniae, 2 cases of Pseudomonas aeruginosa and 2 cases of Aspergillus. The symptoms and imaging of all patients were improved after anti Nocardia therapy. Conclusions: Bronchiectasis combined with nocardiosis is more common in middle-aged and elderly women without smoking, which is similar to the clinical manifestations of Lady Windermere syndrome. Bronchiectasis often involves the left lower lobe, right middle lobe and left lingual lobe. Nocardia infection might further precipitate the initiation and progression of bronchiectasis.

Efficient immobilization of actinide wastes is challenging in the nuclear energy industry. Here, we reported that 100% substitution of Zr4+ by U6+ in a La2Zr2O7 matrix has been achieved for the first time by the molten salt (MS) method. Importantly, we observed that uranium can be precisely anchored into Zr or La sites of the La2Zr2O7 matrix, as confirmed by X-ray diffraction, Raman, and X-ray absorption spectra. This work will guide the construction of site-controlled and high-capacity actinide-immobilized pyrochlore materials and could be extended to other perovskite materials.

Abstract
Pancreaticojejunostomy is the most common anastomosis following pancreaticoduodenectomy and middle pancreatectomy. The detailed surgical technics of pancreaticojejunostomy vary dramatically, but none of them can achieve zero fistula rate. In recent years,with the development of new surgical concept,application of new surgical technology, high-tech materials and instruments,the incidence of pancreatic fistula has decreased. At the same time,researches on investigating the risk factors of pancreaticojejunostomy are gradually deepening. Based on years of surgical experience on pancreaticojejunostomy and current literatures, this paper analyzes the factors affecting the effect of pancreaticojejunostomy, such as the patient's basic physical state,pancreatic texture and diameter of the pancreatic duct,pathology and course of the disease,surgical technology and perioperative management,and summarizes six technical principles for pancreaticojejunostomy to be shared with surgical comrades:appropriate tension,protection of blood supply,hermetic closure of pancreatic section,accurate connection of pancreatic duct and intestinal mucosa,individualization,learning and accumulation of experience.

Abstract
Simple synthetic modulation based on uranyl acetate and phenanthroline has resulted in two uranyl clusters (1 and 2) with different topologies and nuclearities. Notably, the dimeric complex exhibits distinct luminescence quenching upon UV and X-ray irradiation with detection limits of 4.30 × 10-6 J and 0.32 Gy, respectively. To advance the practical application, 1 was further fabricated with polyvinylidene fluoride into a flexible strip as a UV and X-ray indicator.

Abstract
As potential nuclear waste host matrices, two series of uranium-doped Nd2Zr2O7 nanoparticles were successfully synthesized using an optimized molten salt method in an air atmosphere. Our combined X-ray diffraction, Raman and X-ray absorption fine-structure (XAFS) spectroscopy studies reveal that uranium ions can precisely substitute the Nd site to form an Nd2-xUxZr2O7+δ (0 ≤ x ≤ 0.2) system and the Zr site to form an Nd2Zr2-yUyO7+δ (0 ≤ y ≤ 0.4) system without any impurity phase. With increasing U concentration, there is a phase transition from pyrochlore (Fd3m) to defect fluorite (Fm3m) structures in both series of U-doped Nd2Zr2O7. The XAFS analysis indicates that uranium exists in the form of high-valent U6+ in all samples. To balance the extra charge for substituting Nd3+ or Zr4+ by U6+, additional oxygen is introduced accompanied by a large structural distortion; however, the Nd2Zr1.6U0.4O7+δ sample with high U loading (20 mol%) still maintains a regular fluorite structure, indicating the good solubility of the Nd2Zr2O7 host for uranium. This study is, to the best of our knowledge, the first systematic study on U-incorporated Nd2Zr2O7 synthesized via the molten salt method and provides convincing evidence for the feasibility of accurately immobilizing U at specific sites.

Abstract
A brand-new application of thorium-bearing clusters in the field of ionizing radiation detection is exemplified by two novel hexanuclear thorium clusters, Th-bppCOO-1 and Th-bppCOO-2, which incorporate carboxylate-functionalized 2,6-di(pyrazol-1-yl)pyridine ligands. Notably, Th-bppCOO-1 is composed of an unprecedented [Th6(OH)4O4(H2O)5]12+ secondary building unit, the Th6 core of which is decorated by five H2O molecules. Furthermore, selective photoluminescence quenching responses of Th-bppCOO-1 and Th-bppCOO-2 toward X-ray over UV radiation have been demonstrated for the first time.
