Abstract
Objective: To analyze the survival time of reported HIV/AIDS and influencing factors of Yunnan Province from 1989 to 2021. Methods: The data were extracted from the Chinese HIV/AIDS comprehensive response information management system. The retrospective cohort study was conducted. The life table method was applied to calculate the survival probability. Kaplan-Meier was used to draw survival curves in different situations. Furthermore, the Cox proportion hazard regression model was constructed to identify the factors related to survival time. Results: Of the 174 510 HIV/AIDS, the all-cause mortality density was 4.23 per 100 person-years, the median survival time was 20.00 (95%CI:19.52-20.48) years, and the cumulative survival rates in 1, 10, 20, and 30 years were 90.75%, 67.50%, 47.93% and 30.85%. Multivariate Cox proportional risk regression model results showed that the risk of death among 0-14 and 15-49 years old groups were 0.44 (95%CI: 0.34-0.56) times and 0.51 (95%CI:0.50-0.52) times of ≥50 years old groups. The risk for death among the first CD4+T lymphocytes counts (CD4) counts levels of 200-349 cells/μl, 350-500 cells/μl and ≥501 cells/μl groups were 0.52 (95%CI: 0.50-0.53) times, 0.41 (95%CI: 0.40-0.42) times and 0.35 (95%CI: 0.34-0.36) times of 0-199 cells/μl groups. The risk of death among the cases that have not received antiretroviral therapy (ART) was 11.56 (95%CI: 11.26-11.87) times. The risk for death among the cases losing to ART, stopping to ART, both losing and stopping ART was 1.66 (95%CI:1.61-1.72) times, 2.49 (95%CI:2.39-2.60) times, and 1.65 (95%CI:1.53-1.78) times of the cases on ART. Conclusions: The influencing factors for the survival time of HIV/AIDS cases were age at diagnosis in Yunnan province from 1989 to 2021. The first CD4 counts levels, antiretroviral therapy, and ART compliance. Early diagnosis, early antiretroviral therapy, and increasing ART compliance could extend the survival time of HIV/AIDS cases.

Abstract
Multipartite entanglements are essential resources for proceeding tasks in quantum information science and technology. However, generating and verifying them present significant challenges, such as the stringent requirements for manipulations and the need for a huge number of building-blocks as the systems scale up. Here, we propose and experimentally demonstrate the heralded multipartite entanglements on a three-dimensional photonic chip. Integrated photonics provide a physically scalable way to achieve an extensive and adjustable architecture. Through sophisticated Hamiltonian engineering, we are able to control the coherent evolution of shared single photon in the multiple spatial modes, dynamically tuning the induced high-order W-states of different orders in a single photonic chip. Using an effective witness, we successfully observe and verify 61-partite quantum entanglements in a 121-site photonic lattice. Our results, together with the single-site-addressable platform, offer new insights into the accessible size of quantum entanglements and may facilitate the developments of large-scale quantum information processing applications.

Abstract
Cancer stem cells (CSCs), a subpopulation of tumor cells with the features of self-renewal, tumor initiation, and insensitivity to common physical and chemical agents, are the key to cancer relapses, metastasis, and resistance. Accessible CSCs inhibitory strategies are primarily based on small molecule drugs, yet toxicity limits their application. Here, we report a liposome loaded with low toxicity and high effectiveness of miriplatin, lipo-miriplatin (LMPt) with high miriplatin loading, and robust stability, exhibiting a superior inhibitory effect on CSCs and non-CSCs. LMPt predominantly inhibits the survival of oxaliplatin-resistant (OXA-resistant) cells composed of CSCs. Furthermore, LMPt directly blocks stemness features of self-renewal, tumor initiation, unlimited proliferation, metastasis, and insensitivity. In mechanistic exploration, RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) revealed that LMPt downregulates the levels of pro-stemness proteins and that the β-catenin-mediated stemness pathway is enriched. Further research shows that either in adherent cells or 3D-spheres, the β-catenin-OCT4/NANOG axis, the vital pathway to maintain stemness, is depressed by LMPt. The consecutive activation of the β-catenin pathway induced by mutant β-catenin (S33Y) and OCT4/NANOG overexpression restores LMPt's anti-CSCs effect, elucidating the key role of the β-catenin-OCT4/NANOG axis. Further studies revealed that the strengthened binding of β-catenin and β-TrCP initiates ubiquitination and degradation of β-catenin induced by LMPt. In addition,the ApcMin/+transgenicmouse model, in which colon tumors are spontaneously formed, demonstrates LMPt's potent anti-non-CSCs activity in vivo.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the response characteristics of patients with locally advanced/metastatic non-squamous non-small cell lung cancer (nsq-NSCLC) treated with tislelizumab in combination with chemotherapy in the first line. Methods: Patients with nsq-NSCLC who achieved complete or partial remission after treatment with tislelizumab in combination with chemotherapy or chemotherapy alone in the RATIONALE 304 study, as assessed by an independent review board, were selected to analyze the response characteristics and safety profile of the responders. Time to response (TTR) was defined as the time from randomization to the achievement of first objective response. Depth of response (DpR) was defined as the maximum percentage of tumor shrinkage compared with the sum of the baseline target lesion length diameters. Results: As of January 23, 2020, 128 patients treated with tislelizumab in combination with chemotherapy achieved objective tumor response (responders), representing 57.4%(128/223) of the intention-to-treat population, with a TTR of 5.1 to 33.3 weeks and a median TTR of 7.9 weeks. Of the responders (128), 50.8%(65) achieved first remission at the first efficacy assessment (week 6), 31.3%(40) at the second efficacy assessment (week 12), and 18.0%(23) at the third and subsequent tumor assessments. The percentages of responders who achieved a depth of tumor response of 30% to <50%, 50% to <70% and 70% to 100% were 45.3%(58/128), 28.1%(36/128) and 26.6%(34/128), respectively, with median progression-free survival (PFS) of 9.0 months (95% CI: 7.7 to 9.9 months), 11.5 months (95% CI: 7.7 months to not reached) and not reached (95% CI: 11.8 months to not estimable), respectively. Tislelizumab plus chemotherapy were generally well tolerated in responders with similar safety profile to the overall safety population. Conclusion: Among responders to tislelizumab in combination with chemotherapy for nsq-NSCLC, 82.0%(105/128) achieves response within the first two tumor assessments (12 weeks) and 18.0%(23/128) achieves response at later (18 to 33 weeks) assessments, and there is a trend toward prolonged PFS in responders with deeper tumor response.

Abstract
Jasmonates (JAs) are phytohormones that finely regulate critical biological processes, including plant development and defense. JASMONATE ZIM-DOMAIN (JAZ) proteins are crucial transcriptional regulators that keep JA-responsive genes in a repressed state. In the presence of JA-Ile, JAZ repressors are ubiquitinated and targeted for degradation by the ubiquitin/proteasome system, allowing the activation of downstream transcription factors and, consequently, the induction of JA-responsive genes. A growing body of evidence has shown that JA signaling is crucial in defending against plant viruses and their insect vectors. Here, we describe the interaction of C2 proteins from two tomato-infecting geminiviruses from the genus Begomovirus, tomato yellow leaf curl virus (TYLCV) and tomato yellow curl Sardinia virus (TYLCSaV), with the transcriptional repressor JAZ8 from Arabidopsis thaliana and its closest orthologue in tomato, SlJAZ9. Both JAZ and C2 proteins colocalize in the nucleus, forming discrete nuclear speckles. Overexpression of JAZ8 did not lead to altered responses to TYLCV infection in Arabidopsis; however, knock-down of JAZ8 favors geminiviral infection. Low levels of JAZ8 likely affect the viral infection specifically, since JAZ8-silenced plants neither display obvious developmental phenotypes nor present differences in their interaction with the viral insect vector. In summary, our results show that the geminivirus-encoded C2 interacts with JAZ8 in the nucleus, and suggest that this plant protein exerts an anti-geminiviral effect.

Abstract
MYB transcription factors (TFs) play a key role in plant resistance to abiotic and biotical stresses. However, little is currently known about their involvement in the plant defense to piercing-sucking insects. Here, we studied the MYB TFs that responded to and resisted Bemisia tabaci whitefly in the model plant Nicotiana benthamiana. Firstly, a total of 453 NbMYB TFs in N. benthamiana genome were identified and 182 R2R3-MYB TFs were analyzed for molecular characteristics, phylogenetic analysis, genetic structure, motif composition, and cis-elements. Then, six stress-related NbMYB genes were selected for further study. The expression pattern shows they were highly expressed in mature leaves and intensively induced upon whitefly attack. Combined with bioinformatic analysis, overexpression, β-Glucuronidase (GUS) assay, and virus-induced silencing tests, we determined the transcriptional regulation of these NbMYBs on the genes in lignin biosynthesis and SA-signaling pathways. Meanwhile, we tested the performance of whitefly on plants with increased or silenced NbMYB genes expression and found that NbMYB42, NbMYB107, NbMYB163, and NbMYB423 were resistant to whitefly. Our results contribute to a comprehensive understanding of the MYB TFs in N. benthamiana. Furthermore, our findings will facilitate further studies on the role of MYB TFs in the interaction between plants and piercing-sucking insects.

Abstract
Boson sampling is a computational problem, which is commonly believed to be a representative paradigm for attaining the milestone of quantum advantage. So far, massive efforts have been made to the experimental large-scale boson sampling for demonstrating this milestone, while further applications of the machines remain a largely unexplored area. Here, we investigate experimentally the efficiency and security of a cryptographic one-way function that relies on coarse-grained boson sampling, in the framework of a photonic boson-sampling machine fabricated by a femtosecond laser direct writing technique. Our findings demonstrate that the implementation of the function requires moderate sample sizes, which can be over 4 orders of magnitude smaller than the ones predicted by the Chernoff bound; whereas for numbers of photons n≥3 and bins d∼poly(m,n), the same output of the function cannot be generated by nonboson samplers. Our Letter is the first experimental study that deals with the potential applications of boson sampling in the field of cryptography and paves the way toward additional studies in this direction.

Abstract
LncRNA CASC15 has been determined as a novel tumor-related lncRNA in many cancers. However, the in-detail role of CASC15 remains elusive in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). CASC15 expression level was detected in 113 ESCC tissues and paired adjacent normal tissues and in human ESCC cell lines. The effects of CASC15 on ESCC proliferation, migration, and invasion were assessed using CCK-8 and transwell assays. In addition, the potential downstream molecules of CASC15 were searched and confirmed by software algorithms, RT-qPCR, western blot, dual-luciferase reporter, and rescue experiments. CASC15 was upregulated in ESCC tissues and cell lines. CASC15 overexpression was associated with poorer prognosis in ESCC patients. Functionally, CASC15 knockdown inhibited cell proliferation, migration, and invasion of ESCC cells. Mechanistically, it was confirmed that CASC15 acts as competing endogenous RNA for miR-33a-5p to regulate PTGS2 expression. In addition, rescue assay showed that miR-33a-5p knockdown or PTGS2 overexpression abolished the cell proliferation, migration, and invasion inhibition role of CASC15 knockdown. In conclusion, this study indicates that CASC15 was upregulated in ESCC and CASC15 knockdown hindered ESCC progression through targeting the miR-33a-5p/PTGS2 axis. CASC15 might serve as a novel biomarker and therapeutic target for ESCC.

Abstract
Whiteflies of the Bemisia tabaci complex transmit hundreds of plant viruses belonging to the genera Begomovirus and Crinivirus, among others. Tripartite interactions of whitefly-virus-plant frequently occur during virus infection and transmission. Specifically, virus transmission-related behavior of whitefly, such as preference and feeding, may be altered by viruses and thus exert significant impacts on the outcome of virus spread and epidemics. Here, we provide an overview on the current understanding of the manipulation of whitefly behavior by plant viruses. Plant viruses can significantly modulate whitefly preference and feeding behavior, either directly or in a plant-mediated manner. In general, non-viruliferous whiteflies tend to prefer virus-infected plants, and viruliferous whiteflies are more likely to prefer uninfected plants. In most cases, virus infection of plants and/or whitefly seems to exhibit positive or no effects on whitefly feeding on plants. The significance and evolution of these patterns are then discussed. Finally, we suggest several future directions of research, such as the exploration of temporal dynamics and the dissection of underlying mechanisms of virus-induced changes in whitefly behavior.

Abstract
Background and Objectives It remains unclear whether the use of the stylet slow-pull (SP) and wet suction (WS) can improve the yield of endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine-needle biopsy compared to standard suction (SS). The aim of this study was to compare the diagnostic efficacy of the three sampling techniques when using 25G ProCore needles for solid pancreatic lesions. Materials and Methods This multicenter single-blind randomized crossover superiority trial enrolled patients with solid pancreatic lesions (n = 300) from four digestive endoscopic centers in China. All three sampling techniques were performed on each patient using a 25G ProCore needle in a randomized sequence. The diagnostic efficacy, the specimen yield, and quality of each technique, the overall technical success rate and diagnostic yield of the 25G ProCore needle, and rate of adverse events were evaluated. Results A total of 291 patients were analyzed. No significant difference was found in diagnostic efficiency among the three techniques (sensitivity, 82.14% vs. 75.00% vs. 77.86, P = 0.1186; accuracy, 82.82% vs. 75.95% vs. 78.69%, P = 0.1212). The SP had an inferior tissue integrity compared to the SS and WS techniques (71.82% vs. 62.55% vs. 69.76%, P = 0.0096). There was no significant difference in the degree of blood contamination among the three groups (P = 0.2079). After three passes, the overall sensitivity was 93.93%, and the accuracy was 94.16%. Conclusions SS and WS techniques are better choices than SP technique for 25G ProCore needle, for they could provide higher specimen adequacy without increasing the amount of blood contamination. The 25G ProCore needle can provide a satisfactory diagnostic yield for solid pancreatic lesions.

Abstract
Background: Cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) play an important role in the tumorigenesis, immunosuppression and metastasis of colorectal cancer (CRC), and can predict poor prognosis in patients with CRC. The present study aimed to construct a CAFs-related prognostic signature for CRC. Methods: The clinical information and corresponding RNA data of CRC patients were downloaded from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) databases. The Estimation of STromal and Immune cells in MAlignant Tumor tissues (ESTIMATES) and xCell methods were applied to evaluate the tumor microenvironment infiltration from bulk gene expression data. Weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA) was used to construct co-expression modules. The key module was identified by calculating the module-trait correlations. The univariate Cox regression and least absolute shrinkage operator (LASSO) analyses were combined to develop a CAFs-related signature for the prognostic model. Moreover, pRRophetic and Tumor Immune Dysfunction and Exclusion (TIDE) algorithms were utilized to predict chemosensitivity and immunotherapy response. Human Protein Atlas (HPA) databases were employed to evaluate the protein expressions. Results: ESTIMATES and xCell analysis showed that high CAFs infiltration was associated with adverse prognoses. A twenty-gene CAFs-related prognostic signature (CAFPS) was established in the training cohort. Kaplan-Meier survival analyses reveled that CRC patients with higher CAFs risk scores were associated with poor prognosis in each cohort. Univariate and multivariate Cox regression analyses verified that CAFPS was as an independent prognostic factor in predicting overall survival, and a nomogram was built for clinical utility in predicting CRC prognosis. Patients with higher CAFs risk scores tended to not respond to immunotherapy, but were more sensitive to five conventional chemotherapeutic drugs. Conclusion: In summary, the CAFPS could serve as a robust prognostic indicator in CRC patients, which might help to optimize risk stratification and provide a new insight into individual treatments for CRC.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the value of robot-assisted laparoscopic indocyanine green sentinel lymph node (SLN) tracing in treating endometrial carcinoma. Methods: Thirty-two patients with early-staging endometrial carcinoma were operated with laparoscopic comprehensive staging laparotomy from January 2019 to December 2021. At the same time, the SLN detection was performed by near-infrared fluorescence imaging tracer technology, in which the tracer was indocyanine green. Sixteen cases were injected with indocyanine green before laparoscopic surgery, and 16 cases were injected with indocyanine green before robot-assisted laparoscopic surgery. The operation index, postoperative complications, prognosis, and lymph node dissection were compared between the two groups. Results: (1) The mean age of patients in the robot group was (54.7±8.1) years old, and was (54.9±8.8) years old in the laparoscopic group. There were no significant difference between the two groups (t=0.06, P=0.951). (2) Intraoperative blood loss [(131±40) vs (169±57) ml], hemoglobin difference before and after surgery [(11.2±5.4) vs (15.5±5.7) g/L], the length of stay after operation [(6.2±1.3) vs (8.6±1.4) days] between the robot group and the laparoscopic group were compared, and the differences were statistically significant (all P<0.05). (3) SLNs were detected in all 16 patients in the robotic group, and a total of 41 SLNs were detected. SLNs were detected in 15 of the 16 patients in the laparoscopy group, and a total of 40 SLNs were detected. Compared with the laparoscopic group (15/16), the total detection rate of SLN in the robotic group (16/16), there were no statistical significance (χ2=1.03, P=0.310). Compared with the laparoscopic group (7/15), the SLN bilateral detection rate in the robotic group (10/16), there were also no significant difference (χ2=0.78, P=0.376). The number of lymph nodes detected in surgery group (16.6±4.1) were lower than those in the laparoscopy surgery group (21.0±7.1), while there were no statistically difference between the two groups (χ2=2.01, P=0.054). There was no tumor metastasis in the resected lymph nodes and SLN between the two groups. The false negative rate of SLN in diagnosing endometrial cancer postoperative lymph node metastasis was 0, and the negative predictive value was 100%. (4) The pelvic and retroperitoneal lymph nodes were divided into five regions, which were the left pelvis, the right pelvis, the presacral region, the deep inguinal region, and the abdominal aorta. The numbers of SLN of unilateral detection and bilateral pelvic detection between two groups showed no significant differences (all P>0.05). The left pelvis had the most SLN imaging in both groups, followed by the right pelvis, para-aortic, and deep groin. (5) There was one patient in both robotic group and laparoscopic group with postoperative complications, which were urinary retention and pelvic lymph node cyst respectively. There were no significant differences in the incidence of complications between the two groups (χ2=0.97, P=1.000). The median follow-up time after operation was 14 months (range 6-24 months). During the follow-up period, no local recurrence or distant metastasis was found between the two groups of endometrial cancer patients. Conclusions: Compared with the laparoscopic group, the robot group has less intraoperative blood loss and shorter postoperative hospital stay. The bilateral detection rate of SLN in the group was better than that of laparoscopy.

Abstract
Four undescribed neolignans and three undescribed amide alkaloids, along with twelve known compounds, were isolated from the stems of Piper kadsura (Choisy) Ohwi. The structures of the new compounds were determined by spectroscopic analysis, quantum-chemical calculations, and Mo2(OAc)4-induced ECD analysis. The neuroprotective effects of these compounds against Aβ25-35-induced cell damage in PC12 cells were investigated, and eight compounds exhibited significant neuroprotective effects against Aβ25-35-induced PC12 cell damage, with the EC50 values of 3.06-29.3 μM. Three of these compounds were selected for further experiments, and they appear to reduce apoptosis and enhance autophagy against Aβ25-35-induced PC12 cell damage.

Abstract
Quantum-correlated biphoton states play an important role in quantum communication and processing, especially considering the recent advances in integrated photonics. However, it remains a challenge to flexibly transport quantum states on a chip, when dealing with large-scale sophisticated photonic designs. The equivalence between certain aspects of quantum optics and solid-state physics makes it possible to utilize a range of powerful approaches in photonics, including topologically protected boundary states, graphene edge states, and dynamic localization. Optical dynamic localization allows efficient protection of classical signals in photonic systems by implementing an analogue of an external alternating electric field. Here, we report on the observation of dynamic localization for quantum-correlated biphotons, including both the generation and the propagation aspects. As a platform, we use sinusoidal waveguide arrays with cubic nonlinearity. We record biphoton coincidence count rates as evidence of robust generation of biphotons and demonstrate the dynamic localization features in both spatial and temporal space by analyzing the quantum correlation of biphotons at the output of the waveguide array. Experimental results demonstrate that various dynamic modulation parameters are effective in protecting quantum states without introducing complex topologies. Our Letter opens new avenues for studying complex physical processes using photonic chips and provides an alternative mechanism of protecting communication channels and nonclassical quantum sources in large-scale integrated quantum optics.

Abstract
BACKGROUND With the rapid development of society, the incidence of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) in China is increasing year by year. IBS is a chronic physical and mental disease for which there is no specific drug to cure; however, the efficacy of the drugs can be strengthened through psychological cognition and social intervention. However, there are few reports on the psycho-social intervention of IBS patients in China.
AIM To explore the efficacy of comprehensive evidence-based psycho-social intervention in patients with IBS.
METHODS A total of 140 patients with IBS who were admitted to Beijing Rehabilitation Hospital of Capital Medical University from March 2019 to September 2021 were included as the research subjects, and they were randomly divided into either a control group or a research group, with 70 cases in each. The control group was given routine outpatient follow-up and nursing intervention, while the research group was given comprehensive evidence-based psycho-social intervention. Both groups were followed for 3 mo. The gastrointestinal symptom rating scale (GSRS), irritable bowel syndrome-quality of life questionnaire (IBS-QOL), multi-gastrointestinal function tester, medication compliance scale, self-rating anxiety scale (SAS), and self-rating depression scale (SDS) were used to evaluate and compare gastrointestinal symptoms, rectal function, medication compliance, quality of life, and negative psychology in the two groups before and after intervention to evaluate the intervention effect.
RESULTS There were five dropout cases in the control group and three in the research group. Finally, 65 cases in the control group and 67 in the research group completed the study. Before intervention, there were no significant differences in GSRS score, rectal sensation threshold, rectal defecation threshold, rectal pain threshold, rectal motor index, medication compliance scale score, IBS-QOL score, SAS score, or SDS score between the two groups (P > 0.05). After intervention, the GSRS scores, SAS scores, and SDS scores of the two groups were significantly lower than those before intervention, and these scores were significantly lower in the research group than in the control group (P < 0.05). After intervention, rectal sensory threshold, rectal defecation threshold, rectal pain threshold, and rectal motor index were significantly improved in both groups (P < 0.05); the improvements were significantly better in the research group than in the control group (P < 0.05). After intervention, the medication compliance score and IBS-QOL score of the control group were not significantly different from those before intervention (P > 0.05), and the medication compliance score, IBS-QOL score, and curative effect of the research group were significantly higher than those of the control group.
CONCLUSION Evidence-based comprehensive psycho-social intervention program can effectively improve medication compliance of IBS patients, reduce patients' negative psychology, and improve patients' gastrointestinal function and quality of life.

Abstract
Using a controlled optical bias and balanced geometry, we propose a new scheme for broadband terahertz detection by laser-gas interaction without high-voltage manipulation. Compared to the conventional optical bias scheme, the common noise is reduced and the dynamic range as well as the signal-to-noise ratio are doubled. It provides a simple alternative for coherent broadband terahertz detection. The influence of optical bias on terahertz waveform is also investigated, and the evolution of the terahertz-induced second harmonic with probe delay is further revealed. This new detection scheme for broadband terahertz will boost the application of terahertz time-domain spectroscopy for its miniaturization and integrability.

Abstract
Cassava Mosaic Disease (CMD) caused by Sri Lankan cassava mosaic virus (SLCMV), has rapidly spread in Southeast Asia (SEA) since 2016. Recently it has been documented in Lao PDR. Previous reports have identified whitefly species of B. tabaci as potential vectors of CMD in SEA, but their occurrence and distribution in cassava fields is not well known. We conducted a countrywide survey in Lao PDR for adult whiteflies in cassava fields, and determined the abundance and genetic diversity of the B. tabaci species complex using mitochondrial cytochrome oxidase I (mtCOI) sequencing. In order to expedite the process, PCR amplifications were performed directly on whitefly adults without DNA extraction, and mtCOI sequences obtained using nanopore portable-sequencing technology. Low whitefly abundances and two cryptic species of the B. tabaci complex, Asia II 1 and Asia II 6, were identified. This is the first work on abundance and genetic identification of whiteflies associated with cassava in Lao PDR. This study indicates currently only a secondary role for Asia II in spreading CMD or as a pest. Routine monitoring and transmission studies on Asia II 6 should be carried out to establish its potential role as a vector of SLCMV in this region.

Abstract
Anaerobic ammonium oxidation (anammox) and nitrification, two common biological ammonium oxidation pathways, are critical for the microbial nitrogen cycle. Short chain alkanes (C2-C8) have been well-known as inhibitors for nitrification through interaction with the ammonia monooxygenase, while whether these alkanes affect anammox is an open question. Here, this work demonstrated significant inhibition of ethane on anammox and revealed the inhibitory mechanism. The acute inhibition of ethane on anammox was concentration-dependent and reversible; 0.86 mM dissolved ethane caused 50% inhibition (IC50), and 1.72 mM ethane almost completely inhibited anammox. After long-term exposure to 0.09 mM ethane for 30 days, the ammonium (nitrite) removal rate dropped from 202 (267) mg N L-1 d-1 to 1 (1) mg N L-1 d-1, and the abundance of anammox bacteria decreased from 61.9% to 9.5%. The intercellular ammonium concentration of anammox bacteria decreased after ethane exposure, while metatranscriptome analysis showed significant upregulation of genes for ammonium transport of anammox bacteria. Thus, ethane could suppress ammonium uptake resulting in the inhibition of anammox activities. As ethane is the second most prevalent alkane after methane in various anoxic environments, ethane may have an important effect on the nitrogen cycle driven by anammox that should be investigated in future research.

Abstract
Integrated photonic architectures based on optical waveguides are one of the leading candidates for the future realisation of large-scale quantum computation. One of the central challenges in realising this goal is simultaneously minimising loss whilst maximising interferometric visibility within waveguide circuits. One approach is to reduce circuit complexity and depth. A major constraint in most planar waveguide systems is that beamsplitter transformations between distant optical modes require numerous intermediate SWAP operations to couple them into nearest neighbour proximity, each of which introduces loss and scattering. Here, we propose a 3D architecture which can significantly mitigate this problem by geometrically bypassing trivial intermediate operations. We demonstrate the viability of this concept by considering a worst-case 2D scenario, where we interfere the two most distant optical modes in a planar structure. Using femtosecond laser direct-writing technology we experimentally construct a 2D architecture to implement Hong-Ou-Mandel interference between its most distant modes, and a 3D one with corresponding physical dimensions, demonstrating significant improvement in both fidelity and efficiency in the latter case. In addition to improving fidelity and efficiency of individual non-adjacent beamsplitter operations, this approach provides an avenue for reducing the optical depth of circuits comprising complex arrays of beamsplitter operations.

Abstract
Quantum coherence is the central element of particle states, and it characterizes the overall performance of various quantum materials. Bloch oscillation is a fundamental coherent behavior of particles under a static potential, which can be easily destroyed by Zener tunneling in multiband 2D lattice materials. The control of Zener tunneling therefore plays the key role in quantum engineering for complicated physical systems. Here, the inhibition and reconstruction of Zener tunneling in photonic honeycomb lattices are experimentally demonstrated. Deformed honeycomb lattices are integrated and an effective static potential is realized on the 2D lattice materials. Zener tunneling disappears in stretch-type lattices and wave packets stay in the dispersionless upper energy band. On the contrary, Zener tunneling is greatly enhanced in compression-type lattices and wave packets exhibit directional oscillations without branches, which manifest the preserved coherence of the wave packets. The results demonstrate the protection of photonic coherence by structurally controlling the Zener tunneling, representing a step toward flexible quantum engineering for large-scale artificial quantum materials.

Abstract
Arginine rich, mutated in early stage of tumours (Armet), is a well-characterized bifunctional protein as an unfolded protein response component intracellularly and a neurotrophic factor extracellularly in mammals. Recently, a new role of Armet as an effector protein mediating insect-plant interactions has been reported; however, its molecular mechanisms underlying the regulation of plant defences remain unclear. We investigated the molecular mechanisms underlying whitefly-secreted Armet-mediated regulation of insect-plant interaction by agrobacterium-mediated transient expression, RNA interference, electrical penetration graph, protein-protein interaction studies, virus-induced gene silencing assay, phytohormone analysis and whitefly bioassays. Armet, secreted by Bemisia tabaci whitefly, is highly expressed in the primary salivary gland and is delivered into tobacco plants during feeding. Overexpression of the BtArmet gene in tobacco enhanced whitefly performance, while silencing the BtArmet gene in whitefly interrupted whitefly feeding and suppressed whitefly performance on tobacco plants. BtArmet was shown to interact with NtCYS6, a cystatin protein essential for tobacco anti-whitefly resistance, and counteract the negative effects of NtCYS6 on whitefly. These results indicate that BtArmet is a salivary effector and acts to promote whitefly performance on tobacco plants through binding to the tobacco cystatin NtCYS6. Our findings provide novel insight into whitefly-plant interactions.

Abstract
Objective: To explore the clinical safety and feasibility of overlapped delta-shaped anastomosis (ODA) in totally laparoscopic right hemicolectomy (TLRHC). Methods: From May 2017 to October 2019, of the 219 patients who underwent TLRHC at the Cancer Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Science and Peking Union Medical College, 104 cases underwent ODA (ODA group) and 115 cases underwent conventional extracorporeal anastomosis (control group) were compared the surgical outcomes, postoperative recovery, pathological outcomes and perioperative complications. Results: The length of the skin incision in the ODA group was significantly shorter than that in the control group [(5.6±0.9) cm vs. (7.1±1.7) cm, P<0.05], and the time to first flatus and first defecation after surgery in the ODA group was significantly earlier than that in the control group [(1.7±0.7) days vs. (2.0±0.7) days; (3.2±0.6) days vs. (3.3±0.7) days, P<0.05]. While the anastomosis time, operation time, intraoperative blood loss, the time of first ground activities, the number of bowel movements within 12 days after surgery, postoperative hospital stay, tumor size, the distal and proximal margins, the number of lymph node harvested and postoperative TNM stage in the ODA group did not differ from that of the control group (P>0.05). The postoperative complication rates of patients in the ODA group and the control group were 3.8% (4/104) and 4.3% (5/115), respectively, and the difference was not significant (P>0.05). Conclusion: The application of ODA technology in TLRHC can significantly shorten thelength of skin incisionand the recovery time of bowel function, and can obtain satisfactory short-term efficacy.
