Direct derivative spectrophotometric determination of nitrazepam and clonazepam in biological fluids

The use of fifth order derivative spectra allows the direct determination of nitrazepam in urine at 388 nm with a limit of detection of 1 microgram ml-1. The determination of nitrazepam in blood plasma can be carried out directly by measurement at 402 nm in the fourth order derivative spectra with a limit of detection of 1.5 micrograms ml-1. Clonazepam can be determined directly in urine samples at 384 nm by using sixth order derivative spectra with a limit of detection of 1 microgram ml-1 and in blood plasma by using fourth order derivative spectra at 384 nm with a limit of detection of 0.5 ppm.

Simultaneous determination of benzodiazepines by ultraviolet--visible spectrophotometry in micellar media

A method for the simultaneous determination of benzodiazepines in binary mixtures is proposed, based on the acid hydrolysis of benzodiazepines to benzophenones and the spectrophotometric determination of the latter in the presence of Nemol K 1030, a non-ionic surfactant condensate of ethylene oxide with nonylphenol. The experimental conditions for the hydrolysis of several benzodiazepines in sealed Pyrex tubes were determined. The addition of Nemol K 1030 to acidic solutions of benzophenones modified the positions of the absorption bands and made possible the simultaneous analysis of binary mixtures of benzodiazepines.

The use of emulsions in the preparation of samples and standards for analysis by atomic-absorption spectroscopy determination of Cu and Fe in mibk extracts of their apdc complexes

The use of aqueous/organic emulsions is shown to give advantages in the AAS determination of Cu and Fe extracted as their pyrrolidinedithiocarbamate complexes into methyl isobutyl ketone. The emulsions are more stable than the extracts, and the standards can be prepared from aqueous solutions by emulsification, but without extraction.
