Abstract
Antibiotics discharged into the environment cause increased environmental resistance. Four types of antibiotics (quinolones, tetracyclines, macrolides, and β-lactams) were selected for this study. In a comparison with the municipal wastewater plant, the concentration and removal of antibiotics in influent and effluent of domestic wastewater treatment facilities of different scales in villages and towns was investigated using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and tandem mass spectrometry (MS). The results showed that the highest amount of ofloxacin in rural wastewater treatment facilities reached 32663.5 ng·L-1. Due to the different situations of influent fluctuation, discharge requirements, and management between urban and rural wastewater plants, only 33% of the rural domestic wastewater facilities detected an antibiotics removal rate of more than 60%. The effective removal of some antibiotics can be achieved when the rural domestic wastewater treatment facilities maintain the standard discharge of conventional pollutants.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the spatio-temporal distribution characteristics of Oncomelania hupensis snail habitats in three cities of Suzhou, Wuxi and Changzhou along the Taihu Lake region, so as to provide technical supports for establishing a sensitive and highly effective surveillance and forecast system for schistosomiasis. METHODS Snail distribution data were collected from Suzhou, Wuxi and Changzhou cities from 1950 to 2018, and the changing trend for snail habitats were described over years. In addition, the clusters of snail habitats were detected using Kernel density analysis and SaTScan space-time scan analysis. RESULTS The number of snail habitats appeared a single-peak distribution in Suzhou, Wuxi and Changzhou cities from 1950 to 2018, which peaked in 1970 and then declined rapidly. There were 62.68% of snail habitats eliminated within 10 years after identification, of which 38.24% were eliminated at the year of identification. Kernel density analysis and SaTScan space-time scan analysis revealed that high-density clusters of snail habitats were mainly distributed in Kunshan City, Wuzhong District and Xiangcheng District from 1970 to 1980, and in Yixing City in 1990; since then, the clusters gradually shrank, and overall appeared a move from northeast to west of Taihu Lake. A total of 4 new clusters were detected after 1970, as revealed by space-time scanning of snail habitats. In current snail habitats, emerging snail habitats are mainly identified in Huqiu District (Dongzhu Town), Wuzhong District (Guangfu Town), Taicang City (Shaxi Town) and Jintan District, and re-emerging snail habitats are scattered in 7 districts. CONCLUSIONS The distribution of snail habitats are spatio-temporal aggregation in Suzhou, Wuxi and Changzhou cities. The monitoring and prediction of emerging and re-emerging snail habitats are the key points in the future.

Abstract
Ferula ferulaeoides (Steud.) Korov. is a perennial herb that belongs to Umbelliferae (Apiaceae). Its resin and roots have extensive commercial and medicinal value in the Xinjiang region. However, the resin-secreting resin ducts (RDs) of F. ferulaeoides have not been studied in detail. This study used optical and transmission electron microscopy to explore the anatomical features, including the distribution, size, and structure, of the RDs among different organs of F. ferulaeoides. The microstructure data revealed that the RDs consisted of a round lumen, a layer of secretory cells, and multiple layers of sheath cells. Notably, the RDs in stem were arranged alternatively in a multilayered ring with vascular bundles of three distinct sizes. The ultrastructural analysis revealed that organelles in the secretory cells potentially play important roles in resin secretion. Those data may be of great significance to understanding the anatomy of the RDs in Ferula L. and Umbelliferae.

Abstract
As a newly epidemic, 2019 coronavirus disease (COVID-19) with a concentrated outbreak poses a great challenge to medical treatment. The severe and critical patients are complex complicatied with the psychological problems, and the medical staff are overworked and under tremendous psychological pressure. The surgeon participated in emergency medical rescue could provide professional treatment for the patients combined with surgical diseases, as well as specialized training for the non-surgeon crew, to reduce surgical-related mortality. With the advantages of good team consciousness, strong aseptic concept and good psychological quality, the surgeons can quickly adapt to and carry out rescue work under the premise of good self-protection. Surgeons need to develop critical care management concepts and focus on the critical care support equipment. Some suggestions are put forward for the standardized training of resident surgeons to cultivate compound talents. It is hoped that this article can lead to the thinking of how to participate in the emergency medical rescue of infectious diseases among surgeons and provide some enlightenment for future surgical education.

Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the prognostic value of kinetic changes in minimal residual disease (MRD) status, as well as its relationship with risk stratification, therapeutic response and treatment in patients with newly-diagnosed multiple myeloma (MM) . Methods: A total of 135 patients with newly-diagnosed MM were screened, and 105 patients who achieved VGPR or more as the best responses were included into this study. The MRD status was determined by multiparameter flow cytometry (MFC) at multiple intervals after two cycles of treatment until clinical relapse, death, or last follow-up. The statistical methods included Kaplan-Meier analysis, Cox regression, etc. Results: ①In all 135 patients, 57.8% (78/135) patients achieved MRD negativity (MRD(-)) after treatment. In 105 patients who achieved VGPR and thus included in this study, the MRD(-) rate was 72.4% (76/105) , with a median interval of 3 months from starting treatment to achievement of MRD(-) status. ②The 2-year PFS rate of patients with MRD(-) status was significantly higher than that of MRD(+) status (62.2% vs 41.3%, P=0.001) , while MRD persistence (MRD(+)) was an independent factor for poor prognosis (multivariate analysis for PFS: P=0.044, HR=3.039, 95%CI 1.029-8.974) . ③Loss of MRD(-) status (i.e., MRD reappearance) showed inferior outcomes compared with MRD sustained negative ones, the PFS was 18 months versus not reach (P<0.001) and the OS was not reach for both (P=0.002) . ④The 2-year PFS and OS rates of patients with duration of MRD(-)status≥12 months were significantly higher than those of the control group (PFS: 77.7% vs 36.7%, P<0.001; OS: 96.4% vs 57.9%, P<0.001 respectively) . Duration of MRD(-) status was associated with a marked reduction in risk of relapse or death (univariate analysis for PFS: P<0.001, HR=0.865, 95%CI 0.815-0.918; for OS: P=0.001, HR=0.850, 95%CI 0.741-0.915 respectively) . ⑤Moreover, even in patients carrying high-risk cytogenetic abnormalities (CA) or ineligible for ASCT, MRD negativity remained its prognostic value to predict PFS (high-risk CA medianPFS: not reach vs 19 months, P=0.006; ineligible for ASCT medianPFS: not reach vs 25 months, P=0.052 respectively) . ⑥Last, treatment with the bortezomib-based regimens contributed to prolonged MRD(-) duration (median MRD(-) duratio: 25 months vs 10 months, P=0.034) . Conclusion: Our findings supported MRD(+) status as an independent poor prognostic factor in MM patients, which implicated that duration of MRD(-) status also played a significant role in evaluation of prognosis, while loss of MRD(-)status might serve as an early biomarker for relapse. Therefore, monitoring of MRD kinetics might more precisely predict prognosis, as well as guide treatment decision, especially for when to start retreatment in relapsed patients.

Abstract
An enantioselective Michael/transesterification tandem reaction of α-hydroxy indanones with ortho-ester chalcones was realized using dinuclear zinc catalysts. A series of enantiomerically pure spiro[indanone-2,3'-isochromane-1-one] derivatives were obtained in good yields with excellent stereoselectivities (up to >20 : 1 dr, up to >99% ee). This protocol could be conducted on a gram scale without affecting its stereoselectivities. In addition, the absolute stereochemistry of the products was determined by X-ray crystallographic analysis of 3ac, and a positive nonlinear effect was observed. Finally, a possible catalytic cycle was proposed to explain the origin of the enantioselectivity.

Abstract
Nitric oxide (NO) is a short-lived free radical which is not only involved in regulating many physiological processes of the body, but also closely related to many diseases. Nitric oxide synthase (NOS) is the key enzyme for NO production. NOS exists as three distinct isoforms, the endothelial NOS (eNOS), neuronal NOS (nNOS) and inducible NOS (iNOS). It has been found that nNOS and eNOS were expressed in normal pulp tissues, periodontal tissues and salivary glands, and the NO produced from nNOS and eNOS was involved in their physiological functions. NO and iNOS are involved in the occurrence and development of pulpitis, periodontitis, salivary gland disease and oral cancer. This review focuses on the physiological and pathological effects of NO and different subtypes of NOS in oral cavity.

Abstract
The complete chloroplast genome sequence of Amentotaxus yunnanensis has been defined in this study. The genome is 138,604 bp in length and one of the large inverted repeats found till date. The overall GC content of the genome is 35.1%. The A. yunnanensis chloroplast genome contains 118 unique genes, including 81 protein-coding genes, 31 tRNA genes, and 4 rRNA genes. Nine protein-coding genes and 6 tRNA contain a single intron, while another species (ycf3) has a couple of introns. A neighbor-joining phylogenetic analysis suggested that A. yunnanensis is closely related to A. argotaenia and A. formosana within the Taxaceae family.

Abstract
A standard desktop printer with multiple ink cartridges can accurately deposit a broad variety of biomaterials on microfluidic paper-based analytical devices (μPADs) which have been extensively applied to environmental monitoring and screening of food and beverage contamination. Finding ways to realize sample quantitative control by tuning the CMYK value, however, remains challenging. Herein, we studied the influence of the CMYK value on the ink volume jetted by ink cartridges. The regularity research on a single-color and two-colors was performed in two print mode-grayscale printing and color printing. The results demonstrated that the number of ink dots increased with the increase of the gray value and opacity value, which means that the amount of the bio-ink increases with the increase of the CMYK value. The 3,3',5,5'-tetramethylbenzidine-horseradish peroxidase-hydrogen peroxide, glucose oxidase-horseradish peroxidase and bull serum albumin-citrate buffer-tetrabromophenol blue systems were chosen as examples to prove the print regularity. Samples and assay reagents can be quantitatively deposited on a substrate by adjusting the CMYK value with as many as four ink cartridges. The present approach has been successfully applied to assay the targets in real serum samples, showing the potential application of the most common office piezoelectric printer in μPADs.

Abstract
Background: Lymphocytes were reported to play a significant part in host anticancer immune responses and influence tumour prognosis. Few studies have focused on the prognostic values of aspartate aminotransferase (AST) to lymphocyte ratio (ALRI), aspartate aminotransferase to platelet count ratio index (APRI) and systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) treated with palliative treatments. Methods: Five hundred and ninety-eight HCC patients treated with palliative therapies were retrospectively analysed. We randomly assigned patients into the training cohort (429 patients) and the validation cohort I (169 patients). Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves were used to identify the best cut-off values for the ALRI, APRI and SII in the training cohort and the values were further validated in the validation cohort I. Correlations between ALRI and other clinicopathological factors were also analysed. A prognostic nomogram including ALRI was established. We validated the prognostic value of the ALRI, SII and APRI with two independent cohorts, the validation cohort II of 82 HCC patients treated with TACE and the validation cohort III of 150 HCC patients treated with curative resection. In the training cohort and all the validation cohorts, univariate analyses by the method of Kaplan-Meier and multivariate analysis by Cox proportional hazards regression model were carried out to identify the independent prognostic factors. Results: The threshold values of ALRI, APRI and SII were 86.3, 1.37 and 376.4 respectively identified by ROC curve analysis in the training cohort. Correlation analysis showed that ALRI>86.3 was greatly associated with higher rates of Child-Pugh B&C, portal vein tumor thrombosis (PVTT) and ascites (P < 0.05). Correspondingly, ALRI level of HCC patients with Child-Pugh B&C, PVTT and ascites was evidently higher than that of HCC patients with Child-Pugh A, without PVTT and without ascites (P < 0.001). In the training cohort and the validation cohort I, II, III, the OS of patients with ALRI >86.3 was obviously shorter than patients with ALRI ≤86.3 (P <0.001). We identified ALRI as an independent prognostic factor by univariate and multivariate analyses both in training Cohort (HR=1.481, P=0.004), validation cohort I (HR=1.511, P=0.032), validation cohort II (HR=3.166, P=0.005) and validation cohort III (HR=3.921, P=0.010). The SII was identified as an independent prognostic factor in training cohort (HR=1.356, P=0.020) and the validation cohort II (HR=2.678, P=0.002). The prognostic nomogram including ALRI was the best in predicting 3-month, 6-month, 1-year, 2-year survival And OS among TNM, ALRI, ALRI-TNM and nomogram. Conclusions: The ALRI was a novel independent prognostic index for the HCC patients treated with palliative treatments.

Abstract
Objective: To establish a elution solution-liquid chromatography method for determination of p-Phenylene diamine (PPD) in workplace air. Methods: p-Phenylene diamine (PPD) in the air of workplace was collected with glass fiber filters coated with dilute sulfuric acid and extracted with an aqueous EDTA solution. The target toxicant was separated with the C(18) column and analyzed with UV detector, identified by retention time, and quantified by peak area. Results: The linear range of PPD in the air of workplace was 2.00~10.00 μg/ml, with a correlation coefficient of 0.999 96. The limit of detection was 0.07 μg/ml. The lower limit of quantification was 0.23 μg/ml. The minimum detectable concentration was 0.003 1 mg/m(3) under 45.0 L sampling volume and 2.0 ml extraction solution volume. The within-run precision of different PPD concentrations was 0.15%~2.3% and the between-run precisions was 1.4%~2.6%; The extraction efficiencies was 91.4%~95.4%; The average collection efficiencies was 96.6%; The samples could be stored for 7 days isolation of air. The potential coexistence of m-Phenylene diamine and o-Phenylene diamine with p-Phenylene diamine (PPD) in the air did not interfere with the results of determination. Conclusion: This method has high sensitivity, precision, accuracy and lower limit of detection and it is applicable for determination of p-Phenylene diamine (PPD) in workplace air.

Abstract
Human retinal pigment epithelium cells under hydrogen peroxide-induced oxidative stress and a ligustrazine-based protective effect were investigated using laser tweezers Raman spectroscopy. Protein and lipid were significantly affected by oxidative damage, along with increased reactive oxygen species (ROS) level within cells. The effects of ligustrazine against the reaction of ROS with protein seemed to be able to inhibit such damages but were limited during the desamidization of amides, along with additional effect on nucleic acid base and DNA phosphoric acid skeleton. This work laid the basis for both understanding the molecular mechanisms of oxidative stress-induced injury and highlighting possible biomarkers in retinal diseases.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Joint arthroplasty is a particularly complex orthopaedic surgical procedure performed on joints, including the hip, knee, shoulder, ankle, elbow, wrist and even digit joints. Increasing evidence from volume-outcomes research supports the finding that patients undergoing joint arthroplasty in high-volume hospitals or by high-volume surgeons achieve better outcomes, and minimum case load requirements have been established in some areas. However, the relationships between hospital/surgeon volume and outcomes in patients undergoing arthroplasty are not fully understood. Furthermore, whether elective arthroplasty should be restricted to high-volume hospitals or surgeons remains in dispute, and little is known regarding where the thresholds should be set for different types of joint arthroplasties. METHODS AND ANALYSES This is a protocol for a suite of systematic reviews and dose-response meta-analyses, which will be amended and updated in conjunction with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses Protocols. Electronic databases, including PubMed and Embase, will be searched for observational studies examining the relationship between the hospital or surgeon volume and clinical outcomes in adult patients undergoing primary or revision of joint arthroplasty. We will use records management software for study selection and a predefined standardised file for data extraction and management. Quality will be assessed using the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale, and the meta-analysis, subgroup analysis and sensitivity analysis will be performed using Stata statistical software. Once the volume-outcome relationships are established, we will examine the potential non-linear relationships between hospital/surgeon volume and outcomes and detect whether thresholds or turning points exist. ETHICS AND DISSEMINATION Ethical approval is not required, because these studies are based on aggregated published data. The results of this suite of systematic reviews and meta-analyses will be submitted to peer-reviewed journals for publication. PROSPERO REGISTRATION NUMBER CRD42017056639.

Abstract
Background: We have previously reported the prognostic value of the albumin-to-alkaline phosphatase ratio (AAPR) for advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients who are not receiving any standard anticancer therapy. However, the prognostic value of the AAPR for HCC patients treated with trans-catheter arterial chemoembolization therapy (TACE) was not investigated. Methods: We retrospectively analysed 372 HCC patients treated with TACE (the training cohort) and applied receiver operating characteristic curves (ROC curves) to identify the best cut-off value for the AAPR in this cohort. Then, univariate analyses by the Kaplan-Meier method and multivariate analysis by a Cox proportional hazards regression model were conducted. Both comparisons of the ROC curves and the likelihood ratio test (LRT) were employed to evaluate the abilities of different factors in predicting the survival of patients in this cohort. Finally, the prognostic value of the AAPR was validated in two cohorts: one included 202 HCC patients treated with supportive care (validation cohort I), and the other included 82 HCC patients treated with TACE (validation cohort II). Results: We identified 0.439 as the best cut-off value of the AAPR by ROC curve analysis. An AAPR > 0.439 was significantly correlated with a lower frequency of Child-Pugh grade B, portal vein tumour thrombus (PVTT), T3-4 and lymph node metastasis (P < 0.05). The median overall survival (OS) of the patients with an AAPR > 0.439 was significantly longer than that of those with an AAPR ≤ 0.439 (58.4 m vs 17.8 m, respectively, P < 0.001). The AAPR was identified as an independent prognostic factor after univariate and multivariate analyses (HR = 0.636, P = 0.003). The independent prognostic value of the AAPR was also confirmed in validation cohorts I and II. Additionally, we substituted the AAPR for the Child-Pugh grade in the CLIP system and integrated the AAPR into the TNM system. We found that the area under the curve (AUC) of the AAPR-CLIP system was significantly larger than that of the CLIP and the TNM when predicting 3-month, 6-month, 1-year and 2-year survival (P < 0.05). There was no significant difference between the AUCs for the AAPR-CLIP and the AAPR-TNM. The LRT suggested that both AAPR-CLIP and AAPR-TNM had significantly larger χ2 values and smaller AIC values than that of their corresponding primary system (P < 0.05). Conclusions: The AAPR was an independent prognostic index for the HCC patients treated with TACE. Both AAPR-CLIP and AAPR-TNM outperformed their corresponding primary system in predicting OS in the current study.

Abstract
BACKGROUND/AIMS To investigate the potential therapeutic effect of novel polysaccharide H-1-2 from pseudostellaria heterophylla against type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) and elucidate the underling molecular mechanisms. METHODS Relative expression of HIF1α and Sirt1 in T2DM patients was determined via real-time PCR. The direct binding of HIF1α on Sirt1 promoter was validated by ChIP assay. The inhibitory regulation of Sirt1 by HIF1α was analyzed using luciferase reporter assay. The endogenous protein of HIF1α and Sirt1 in response to H-1-2 treatment was quantified by western blotting. The blood glucose, secreted insulin and serous lipid profiles were measured with ELISA kits. RESULTS We consolidated that HIF1α and Sirt1 was dysregulated in T2DM patients and subjected to H-1-2 modulation. H-1-2 significantly inhibited hypoxia and up-regulated Sirt1 expression in EndoC-βH1 cells. Accordingly, H-1-2 enhanced glucose-stimulation insulin secretion and improved blood glucose and lipid profiles in T2DM cells, and elevated the glucose and insulin tolerance simultaneously. Furthermore, we demonstrated that H-1-2 alleviated T2DM via inhibition of hypoxia and up-regulation of Sirt1 in isolated pancreatic β-cells from T2DM rats. CONCLUSION Our data unambiguously demonstrated H-1-2 administration alleviated T2DM by enhancing Sirt1 expression through inhibition of hypoxia.

Abstract
Toxoplasma gondii is an important zoonotic parasite causing significant health problems to humans and animals. In recent years, a number of investigations about the seroprevalence of T. gondii in China have been reported, but little is known on the prevalence of toxoplasmosis in sheep in northern China. In the present study, a total of 288 sheep serum samples were collected from Inner Mongolia, Heilongjiang, Jilin and Hebei provinces of northern China for T. gondii antibody survey using a latex agglutination test (LAT). Of these, 87 (30.2%) serum samples were positive for antibodies to T. gondii, and the antibody titres ranged from 1:64 to 1:1,024. Seroprevalence of T. gondii infection in sheep was 17.1% in Inner Mongolia, 33.8% in Heilongjiang, 24.6% in Jilin and 46.3% in Hebei. Age and rearing system significantly affected seropositivity. The present survey indicates antibodies to T. gondii are widely prevalent in sheep in northern China, which may cause public health problems in these provinces.

Abstract
The Camellia nitidissima is an endangered tree species native to Southwest China with high economic and medicinal values. Genetic information of C. nitidissima would provide good knowledge for the conservation of this wild resource. In this article, we characterized the complete chloroplast genome of C. nitidissima using Illumina sequencing technology. The size of circular genome is 157,247 bp, containing a large single copy (LSC) region of 86,880 bp and a small single copy (SSC) region of 18,258 bp. The LSC region and SSC region are separated by a pair of inverted repeat regions (IRa and IRb), each of 26,068 bp. In total, 136 genes are encoded in this cp genome, including 89 protein-coding genes (81 species), 39 tRNA genes (30 species), and 8 rRNA genes (4 species). The overall G + C content of the chloroplast genome is 37.3%. The phylogenetic analysis suggests that C. nitidissima is closely related to C. petelotti.

Abstract
We aimed to explore the relationship between different obesity indices and insulin secretion at each phase among obese subjects and to find out the most relevant obesity index. Height, weight, waist circumstance, and hip circumstance were obtained among 419 obese subjects to calculate body mass index (BMI), waist-to-hip ratio (WHR), waist-to-height ratio, body adiposity index (BAI), conicity index, abdominal volume index and a body shape index (ABSI). Fasting plasma glucose and fasting insulin were detected to calculate HOMA-β. Early and late insulin secretion indices: ΔI30/ΔG30 and DI60-120 were calculated according to the result of a 75-g oral glucose tolerance test among the 235 subjects not meeting the standard of diabetes. Pearson correlation analysis and multiple linear regression analysis were used. BMI (β = 0.022, p = 0.000) and WHR (β = -1.557, p = 0.000) were independent correlation factors with HOMA-β. In 235 OGTT subjects, WHR was independently and negatively associated with ΔI30/ΔG30 and DI60-120 (β = -1.187, p = 0.026; β = -1.241, p = 0.001, respectively). ABSI was independently and negatively associated with ΔI30/ΔG30 (β = -17.249, p = 0.012). WHR was the best and consistently correlated factor with insulin secretion at each phase among obese subjects from Hunan Province in China.
