Study question
To study the relationship between mitochondrial DNA copy number of cumulus granulosa cells (CGCs-mtDNA) and the quality of early embryos.
Summary answer
CGCs-mtDNA was related to the symmetry of cleavage. However, CGCs-mtDNA was not associated with fertilization, blastocysts quality, or blastocysts euploidy.
What is known already
The potential of early embryonic development mainly depends on the quality of oocytes to a large extent. Mitochondria of CGCs are directly involved in the establishment of oocytes capacitation during oocytes maturation and development.
Study design, size, duration
This is a retrospective study from December 2018 to January 2019, involving a total of 283 CGCs surrounding Metaphase II oocytes from 49 patients who underwent preimplantation genetic testing for aneuploidy (PGT-A) at the Reproductive and Genetic Hospital of CITIC-Xiangya.
Participants/materials, setting, methods
We used the TaqMan probes to quantitatively detect mitochondrial DNA copy number of per CGCs by quantitative PCR in mitochondrial genes (MT-ND1 and MT-CO1) and a nuclear gene (β-globin). Besides, according to the nature of the dependent variable, the binary logistic regression model and the logistic regression analysis model of ordered multi-classification were used for multivariate statistical analysis.
Main results and the role of chance
The CGCs-mtDNA corresponding to fertilized eggs was not different from that of unfertilized eggs in MT-ND1 gene and MT-CO1 gene (MT-ND1: fertilized vs. unfertilized, 600±337 vs. 604±367, P = 0.593; MT-CO1: fertilized vs. unfertilized, 1336±531 vs. 1329±478, P = 0.938). Interestingly, we found that the CGCs-mtDNA of D3 embryos with good quality was statistically higher than that of D3 embryos with fair or poor quality for MT-ND1 gene and MT-CO1 gene (MT-ND1: good quality vs. fair/poor quality, 803±627 vs. 587±307, P = 0.028; MT-CO1: good quality vs. fair/poor quality, 1682±554 vs. 1374±702, P = 0.025). Moreover, the CGCs-mtDNA corresponding to D3 embryos with even cleavage was higher than that of D3 embryos with uneven cleavage (MT-ND1: even cleavage vs. uneven cleavage, 803±627 vs. 590±309, P = 0.036; MT-CO1: even cleavage vs. uneven cleavage, 1562±552 vs. 1316±525, P = 0.037). Besides, we investigated the difference among the CGCs-mtDNA in blastocysts with the good quality, blastocysts with fair or poor quality, and the developmental blocked embryos before the blastocyst stage. But we didn’t found any difference among the above three groups (MT-ND1: P = 0.531; MT-CO1: P = 0.609). In the study of the relationship between CGCs-mtDNA and blastocysts euploidy, we got similar results (MT-ND1: P = 0.602; MT-CO1: P = 0.570).
Limitations, reasons for caution
The sample size of this study was relatively small.
Wider implications of the findings: Although the sample size of this study is limited, our results indicated the importance of mitochondria in CGCs in early embryo development, especially in the first three days. The investigation of mitochondrial function in CGCs may shed light on the mechanism of CGCs-oocyte crosstalk.

Abstract
The Breit-Wheeler process which produces matter and antimatter from photon collisions is experimentally investigated through the observation of 6085 exclusive electron-positron pairs in ultraperipheral Au+Au collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=200 GeV. The measurements reveal a large fourth-order angular modulation of cos4Δϕ=(16.8±2.5)% and smooth invariant mass distribution absent of vector mesons (ϕ, ω, and ρ) at the experimental limit of ≤0.2% of the observed yields. The differential cross section as a function of e^{+}e^{-} pair transverse momentum P_{⊥} peaks at low value with sqrt[⟨P_{⊥}^{2}⟩]=38.1±0.9 MeV and displays a significant centrality dependence. These features are consistent with QED calculations for the collision of linearly polarized photons quantized from the extremely strong electromagnetic fields generated by the highly charged Au nuclei at ultrarelativistic speed. The experimental results have implications for vacuum birefringence and for mapping the magnetic field which is important for emergent QCD phenomena.

Abstract
The incidence and mortality of lung cancer ranked the first in China. China had 787, 000 new cases of lung cancer in 2015, and a majority of these patients with advanced lung cancer. With the development and popularization of high-resolution computed tomography, more and more early-stage lung adenocarcinomas are found in screening. The imaging finding of early-stage lung adenocarcinomas often manifests as part solid nodule (PSN) containing ground glass opacity (GGO). Although the imaging manifestation of the nodules can't accurately predict the pathologic type of nodules, the parts of solid nodule and GGO still have some pathologic indications, and the prognostic evaluation effect of the maximum diameter of PSN is superior to that of the whole nodule. With the development of the molecular radiography and molecular pathology, the relationship of imaging manifestation of the PSN and metastasis were focused on. Some PSNs with special nature are more active and rapidly progressed than the pure GGOs. While compared to the pure solid nodules, the aggressiveness of PSNs are insufficient, with lower metastatic rates of lymph node and better prognoses. Currently, international acknowledge recommends to take active intervention measure for PSNs which are highly suspected to be malignant. We focus on the diagnosis and treatment of PSNs, systemically depict their staging, follow-up, surgical treatment, gene detection and immunotherapy.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Ribociclib plus fulvestrant demonstrated significant progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) benefits in patients with hormone receptor-positive, human epidermal growth factor receptor 2-negative (HR+/HER2-) advanced breast cancer (ABC). Here we present a new landmark in survival follow-up for a phase III cyclin-dependent kinases 4 and 6 inhibitor clinical trial in patients with ABC (median, 56.3 months). PATIENTS AND METHODS This phase III, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial was conducted at 174 sites (30 countries). Patients were men and postmenopausal women (age ≥18 years) with histologically/cytologically confirmed HR+/HER2- ABC. Patients could have received ≤1 line of endocrine therapy (ET) but no chemotherapy for ABC. Patients, assigned 2:1, were stratified by the presence/absence of liver/lung metastases and previous ET. Patients received intramuscular fulvestrant (500 mg, day 1 of each 28-day cycle plus day 15 of cycle 1) with oral ribociclib (600 mg/day, 3 weeks on, 1 week off) or placebo. Efficacy analyses were by intention to treat. Safety was assessed in patients receiving ≥1 dose study treatment. OS was a secondary endpoint. MONALEESA-3 is registered with ClinicalTrials.gov (NCT02422615; no longer enrolling). RESULTS Between 18 June 2015 and 10 June 2016, 726 patients were randomly assigned (484, ribociclib; 242, placebo). At data cut-off (30 October 2020), median OS (mOS) was 53.7 months (ribociclib) versus 41.5 months (placebo) [hazard ratio (HR), 0.73; 95% confidence interval (CI) 0.59-0.90]. Subgroup analyses were consistent with overall population. In the first-line setting, most patients in the ribociclib arm (∼60%) lived longer than median follow-up; mOS was 51.8 months in the placebo arm (HR, 0.64; 95% CI 0.46-0.88). In the second-line setting, mOS was 39.7 months (ribociclib) versus 33.7 months (placebo) (HR, 0.78; 95% CI 0.59-1.04). No apparent drug-drug interaction between ribociclib and fulvestrant or new safety signals were observed. CONCLUSIONS This analysis reported extended OS follow-up in MONALEESA-3. mOS was ∼12 months longer in patients with HR+/HER2- ABC treated with ribociclib plus fulvestrant compared with fulvestrant monotherapy.

Abstract
Global polarization of Ξ and Ω hyperons has been measured for the first time in Au+Au collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=200 GeV. The measurements of the Ξ^{-} and Ξ[over ¯]^{+} hyperon polarization have been performed by two independent methods, via analysis of the angular distribution of the daughter particles in the parity violating weak decay Ξ→Λ+π, as well as by measuring the polarization of the daughter Λ hyperon, polarized via polarization transfer from its parent. The polarization, obtained by combining the results from the two methods and averaged over Ξ^{-} and Ξ[over ¯]^{+}, is measured to be ⟨P_{Ξ}⟩=0.47±0.10(stat)±0.23(syst)% for the collision centrality 20%-80%. The ⟨P_{Ξ}⟩ is found to be slightly larger than the inclusive Λ polarization and in reasonable agreement with a multiphase transport model. The ⟨P_{Ξ}⟩ is found to follow the centrality dependence of the vorticity predicted in the model, increasing toward more peripheral collisions. The global polarization of Ω, ⟨P_{Ω}⟩=1.11±0.87(stat)±1.97(syst)% was obtained by measuring the polarization of daughter Λ in the decay Ω→Λ+K, assuming the polarization transfer factor C_{ΩΛ}=1.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Fragile fracture patients need to be treated with long-term fixation and the recovery process is slow. Several studies have shown that the fracture healing process is related to gene expression. We aimed to investigate the role of long chain non-coding RNA TSIX (lncRNA TSIX) on fracture healing after tibial fracture (TF) and explore the molecular mechanism underlying its action. MATERIALS AND METHODS The male C57BL/6J mice were used to construct TF models and osteoblasts were used as in vitro model. The proliferation, apoptosis, and osteogenesis-related genes of Col1a1, Col-II, and Col-X were detected to evaluate the role of lncRNA TSIX in vivo and in vitro after TF. Haematoxylin-eosin (HE) staining was conducted to confirm the fracture healing conditions. RESULTS We found that LncRNA TSIX expression in plasma of TF mice significantly upregulated in a time-dependent manner. Overexpression of lncRNA TSIX could significantly inhibit proliferation but promote apoptosis and regulate the osteogenesis-related genes expression by binding and positively regulate sex-determining region Y box 6 (SOX6) expression, while knockdown of lncRNA TSIX showed the opposite effect in osteoblastic cells. Inhibition of lncRNA TSIX could improve fracture healing after TF. CONCLUSIONS Taken together, our study supported that knockdown of lncRNA TSIX could promote the tibia fracture healing by binding and inhibiting the SOX6 expression. We suggest that lncRNA TSIX/SOX may be the potential targets for the treatment of TF.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Osteogenic differentiation of bone marrow stromal stem cells (BMSCs) is beneficial to the treatment of osteoarthritis (OA). Lnc-RNA BLACAT1 involves in occurrence and development of various diseases. However, the role of Lnc-RNA BLACAT1 in BMSCs differentiation under inflammation remains unclear. MATERIALS AND METHODS Rat BMSCs were isolated and randomly divided into control group and inflammation group (addition of IL-6). The inflammation group was further divided into BLACAT1 siRNA group and BLACAT1 siRNA+miR-142-5p inhibitor group, followed by analysis of Lnc-RNA BLACAT1 expression by real time PCR, BMSCs proliferation, Caspase 3 activity, ALP activity, expression of Runx2, OC and PPARγ2 by real time PCR, and secretion of TNF-α and IL-1β by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The bioinformatics software and the Luciferase reporter system analyze the targeted relationship between BLACAT1 and miR-142-5p. RESULTS In inflammation group, Lnc-BLACAT1 expression was increased, along with inhibited BMSCs proliferation, increased Caspase 3 activity, decreased ALP activity, and expression of Runx2 and OC, increased PPARγ2 expression and secretion of TNF-α and IL-1β. The difference was statistically significant compared with control group (p<0.05). MiR-142-5p is the target miRNA of Lnc-RNA BLACAT1. BLACAT1 siRNA down-regulated BLACAT1 expression, promoted cell proliferation, inhibited Caspase 3 activity, increased ALP activity and Runx2 and OC expression, decreased PPARγ2 expression and TNF-α and IL-1β secretion. Compared with inflammation group, the difference was statistically significant (p<0.05). Of note, BLACAT1 siRNA+miR-142-5p inhibitor group reversed the effect of siRNA-mediated knockdown of BLACAT1. CONCLUSIONS Lnc-RNA BLACAT1 expression was increased in inflammatory BMSCs, and knockdown of BLACAT1 promoted proliferation and osteogenic differentiation of BMSCs targeting miR-142-5p.

Abstract
Nonmonotonic variation with collision energy (sqrt[s_{NN}]) of the moments of the net-baryon number distribution in heavy-ion collisions, related to the correlation length and the susceptibilities of the system, is suggested as a signature for the quantum chromodynamics critical point. We report the first evidence of a nonmonotonic variation in the kurtosis times variance of the net-proton number (proxy for net-baryon number) distribution as a function of sqrt[s_{NN}] with 3.1 σ significance for head-on (central) gold-on-gold (Au+Au) collisions measured solenoidal tracker at Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. Data in noncentral Au+Au collisions and models of heavy-ion collisions without a critical point show a monotonic variation as a function of sqrt[s_{NN}].

Abstract
Objective: To explore the feasibility, safety and effectiveness of anatomical partial lobectomy. Methods: The clinical data of 3 336 patients with lung nodules underwent anatomical partial lobectomy in our center from November 2013 to November 2019 were retrospectively analyzed. We set the safety margin distance according to the imaging feature of the lesion. The surgeons then anatomically detached the major vessels and bronchus in this region, resected the targeted lung tissue along the plane, and completed the resection of anatomical pulmonary lobe and clean and sampling of systemic lymph nodules. Results: A total of 668 cases were multiple nodules and 2 668 cases were solitary pulmonary nodules. According to the postoperative pathological results, 283 cases were benign, 1 197 cases were preinvasive lesions (including 38 cases of atypical adenomatous hyperplasia, 445 cases of adenocarcinoma in situ and 714 cases of minimally invasive adenocarcinoma), 1 713 cases were invasive adenocarcinoma, 73 cases were non-adenocarcinoma and 70 cases were metastatic carcinoma. Among 1 786 invasive primary lung cancers, 11 cases received preoperative neoadjuvant chemotherapy, and their postoperative pathologic diagnoses were stage ypIA. Other 1 775 cases who did not receive postoperative neoadjuvant treatment included 1 587 cases in stage ⅠA, 112 cases in stage ⅠB, 3 cases in stage ⅡA, 18 cases in stage ⅡB, 37 cases in stage ⅢA, 9 cases in stage ⅢB, 9 cases in stage Ⅳ. The average operation time was (127.3±55.3) minutes, and the mean postoperative hospital stay was (4.8±2.4) days. The incidence rate of complications (grade>2) was 1.1%(38/3 336), and no death occurred during 30 days after operation. Conclusion: Anatomic partial lobectomy has good clinical applicability, safety and effectiveness, which is worthy of clinical application and recommendation.

Abstract
The necrosome is a large-molecular-weight complex in which the terminal effector of the necroptotic pathway, Mixed Lineage Kinase Domain-Like protein (MLKL), is activated to induce necroptotic cell death. The precise mechanism of MLKL activation by the upstream kinase, Receptor Interacting Serine/Threonine Protein Kinase 3 (RIPK3) and the role of Receptor Interacting Serine/Threonine Protein Kinase 1 (RIPK1) in mediating MLKL activation remain incompletely understood. Here, we reconstituted human necrosome interactions in yeast by inducible expression of these necrosome effectors. Functional interactions were reflected by the detection of phosphorylated MLKL, plasma membrane permeabilization, and reduced proliferative potential. Following overexpression of human necrosome effectors in yeast, MLKL aggregated in the periphery of the cell, permeabilized the plasma membrane and compromised clonogenic potential. RIPK1 had little impact on RIPK3/MLKL-mediated yeast lethality; however, it exacerbated the toxicity provoked by co-expression of MLKL with a RIPK3 variant bearing a mutated RHIM-domain. Small molecule necroptotic inhibitors necrostatin-1 and TC13172, and viral inhibitors M45 (residues 1–90) and BAV_Rmil, abated the yeast toxicity triggered by the reconstituted necrosome. This yeast model provides a convenient tool to study necrosome protein interactions and to screen for and characterize potential necroptotic inhibitors.

OBJECTIVES To evaluate the combined action of folic acid and vitamin B12 supplementation on cognitive performance and inflammation in patients with Alzheimer's disease (AD). DESIGN This was a randomized, single-blind, placebo-controlled trial. PARTICIPANTS Patients (n=120) diagnosed clinically as probable AD and in stable condition from Tianjin Key Laboratory of Cerebrovascular and Neurodegenerative Diseases. MEASUREMENTS Individuals were randomly divided into the intervention group (n=60, folic acid 1.2 mg/d + vitamin B12 50 μg/d) and the placebo group (n=60). Cognitive performance, blood folate, vitamin B12, one carbon cycle metabolite, and inflammatory cytokine levels were measured at baseline and after 6 months. The data were analyzed using linear mixed models for repeated measures. RESULTS A total of 101 participants (51 in the intervention group and 50 in the placebo group) completed the trial. Folic acid plus vitamin B12 supplementation had a beneficial effect on the MoCA total scores (P=0.029), naming scores (P=0.013), orientation scores (P=0.004), and ADAS-Cog domain score of attention (P=0.008), as compared to those of the control subjects. Moreover, supplementation significantly increased plasma SAM (P<0.001) and SAM/SAH (P<0.001), and significantly decreased the levels of serum Hcy (P<0.001), plasma SAH (P<0.001), and serum TNFα (P<0.001) compared to in the control subjects. CONCLUSIONS Folic acid and vitamin B12 supplementation showed a positive therapeutic effect in AD patients who were not on a folic acid-fortified diet. The findings of this study help to delineate nutrient intervention as far as public health management for the prevention of dementia is concerned.

Abstract
AIM The aim of this study was to study the effects of salt concentrations on the microbial communities, physicochemical properties, metabolome profiles and sensory characteristics during the fermentation of traditional northeast sauerkraut. METHODS AND RESULTS Northeast sauerkraut was spontaneously fermented under four salt concentrations (0·5, 1·5, 2·5 and 3·5%, w/w). The result of microbiological analysis showed that the population of lactic acid bacteria in 2·5%-salted sauerkraut was significantly higher than that in the other samples. Correspondingly, the speed of decrease in pH and accumulation of acids were the highest in 2·5%-salted sauerkraut. The glucose (analysed by HPLC) in 2·5%-salted sauerkraut was consumed more completely to produce higher levels of organic acids compared to those in the other samples. Principle component analysis showed clear differences in the metabolites of sauerkraut according to different salt concentrations. A higher level of volatiles (detected by HS-SPME/GC-MS) was identified in 2·5%-salted sauerkraut, and sensory evaluation demonstrated that 2·5%-salted sauerkraut had the best sensory characteristics. CONCLUSION The best quality of sauerkraut was obtained from fermented under 2·5% salt concentration. SIGNIFICANCE AND IMPACT OF THE STUDY This study facilitated the understanding of the effects of salt on the sauerkraut fermentation and may be useful for developing the quality of sauerkraut.

Abstract
Glutathione S-transferases (GSTs) are members of a multifunctional enzyme superfamily. Forty-one GSTs have been identified in Tribolium castaneum; however, none of the 41 GSTs has been functionally characterized. Here, three delta-class GSTs, TcGSTd1, TcGSTd2 and TcGSTd3, of T. castaneum were successfully cloned and expressed in Escherichia coli. All of the studied GSTs catalysed the conjugation of reduced glutathione with 1-chloro-2,4-dinitrobenzene. Insecticide treatment showed that the expression levels of TcGSTd3 and TcGSTd2 were significantly increased after exposure to phoxim and lambda-cyhalothrin, whereas TcGSTd1 was slightly upregulated only in response to phoxim. A disc diffusion assay showed that overexpression of TcGSTD3, but not TcGSTD1 or TcGSTD2, in E. coli increased resistance to paraquat-induced oxidative stress. RNA interference knockdown of TcGSTd1 caused metamorphosis deficiencies and reduced fecundity by regulating insulin/target-of-rapamycin signalling pathway-mediated ecdysteroid biosynthesis, and knockdown of TcGSTd3 led to reduced fertility and a decreased hatch rate of the offspring, probably caused by the reduced antioxidative activity in the reproductive organs. These results indicate that TcGSTd3 and TcGSTd2 may play vital roles in cellular detoxification, whereas TcGSTd1 may play essential roles in normal development of T. castaneum. These delta-class GSTs in T. castaneum have obtained different functions during the evolution.

Abstract
We report on the first measurement of the charmed baryon Λ_{c}^{±} production at midrapidity (|y|<1) in Au+Au collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=200 GeV collected by the STAR experiment at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. The Λ_{c}/D^{0} [denoting (Λ_{c}^{+}+Λ_{c}^{-})/(D^{0}+D[over ¯]^{0})] yield ratio is measured to be 1.08±0.16 (stat)±0.26 (sys) in the 0%-20% most central Au+Au collisions for the transverse momentum (p_{T}) range 3<p_{T}<6 GeV/c. This is significantly larger than the pythia model calculations for p+p collisions. The measured Λ_{c}/D^{0} ratio, as a function of p_{T} and collision centrality, is comparable to the baryon-to-meson ratios for light and strange hadrons in Au+Au collisions. Model calculations including coalescence hadronization for charmed baryon and meson formation reproduce the features of our measured Λ_{c}/D^{0} ratio.

Abstract
Objective: To compare the histologic features of immune-mediated hepatitis (IMH) due to immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) monotherapy and combined ICIs anti-angiogenesis tyrosine kinases (TKIs) targeted therapy. Methods: Twenty-one IMH patients who had liver biopsy during ICIs treatment in Zhongshan Hospital of Fudan University from 2015 to 2019 were included. Among them, ten were treated with ICIs monotherapy, and 11 were treated with combined ICIs and anti-angiogenesis targeted therapy. The histologic features of IMH were assessed by HE staining and PD-L1/2 was evaluated by immunohistochemical staining. Results: Patients treated with monotherapy ICIs presented with different levels of lobular hepatitis and portal inflammation. Besides, there were also cholangitis, endothelialitis, Kupffer cells activation and peliosisi hepatitis. Eight cases (8/10) showed mild and two cases (2/10) showed moderate hepatic injury. As for patients receiving combined ICIs and TKIs therapy, the extent of IMH was more severe, with four cases (4/11) showing moderate-severe liver injury, with confluent or bridging necrosis, portal inflammation, cholangitis, interface hepatitis. Among these, one patient developed acute severe hepatitis with massive hepatocyte necrosis and died of multisystem dysfunction. In those cases with severe liver injury, many CD8 positive lymphocytes aggregated in the portal area and hepatic sinusoid, and PD-L1 was expressed in many endothelial cells. There were both 2 cases of death in ICIs monotherapy and combination therapy group. Among the latter group, 1 patient developed acute severe hepatitis with massive hepatocyte necrosis and died of multisystem dysfunction. Conclusion: Compared with ICIs monotherapy, combined ICIs and anti-angiogenesis targeted TKIs therapy may cause overlapping hepatic injury, leading to severe IMH.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the clinical symptoms, treatment intervention and prognosis of Kaposiform lymphangiomatosis(KLA). Methods: Medical information and clinical characteristics data of 8 KLA patients who were admitted to Department of Pediatric Surgery of West China Hospital of Sichuan University from January 2016 to February 2019 were retrospectively reviewed and analyzed. There were 5 males and 3 females with age of 5.8 years old (from 8 months to 29 years old). Results: The lesions in all patients were diffusely distributed. In all 8 patients, the lung and mediastinum were involved with different degrees. Three cases had lesions involving pelvic and abdominal organs. Three cases had lesions involving bones. One case simultaneously involved pelvic and abdominal organs, and 1 case was involved laryngeal and neck. The clinical characteristics were mainly respiratory symptoms. In the laboratory tests, 6 patients had different degrees of thrombocytopenia (minimum 3 × 10(9)/L), and 4 patients had severe fibrinogen reduction (minimum 0.42 g/L). Three patients had prolonged activated partial thromboplastin time (up to 64.2 seconds) and 3 patients had prolonged prothrombin time (up to 18.6 seconds). After surgery (including thoracotomy, chest tube, pericardiocentesis, splenectomy) and empiric medicine therapy (vincristine, sirolimus and corticosteroid), the symptoms improved in 1 case, 2 cases died of complications, 2 cases were stable and 3 cases progressed up to February 2019. Conclusions: KLA is a rare disease that should be differentiated from other types of vascular diseases. Currently, there is no consensus treatment guidelines exist. Accurate diagnosis in KLA can be a challenge. The situation in patients with KLA is prone to rapid deterioration and progress. Future research efforts should seek to develop target-specific drugs for KLA.

Abstract
Objective: To detect the ideal treatment for acute ischemic stroke (AIS) patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) within 4.5 hours from onset. Methods: A total of 95 AIS patients with AF was retrospectively analyzed from April 2014 to January 2019. Thirty patients (group A) were treated with endovascular treatment directly, 35 (group B) patients were treated with intravenous recombinant tissue plasminogen activator (rtPA) followed by endovascular treatment, and 30 (group C) patients were treated with intravenous rtPA only. There were no significant differences among the groups in baseline data as age, gender, underlying diseases, medication, National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) score, time from onset to treatment. Modified thrombolysis in cerebral infarction (mTICI), Symptomatic hemorrhagic transformation (SICH), 90 d prognosis of modified Rankin Scale (mRS) and death were compared. Results: Recanalization (mTICI≥2b) was similar in group A and B (70.0% vs. 68.6%, P>0.05). SICH of group A (6.7%) was significantly lower than that of group B (31.4%, P<0.05), but similar with that of group C (13.7%, P>0.05). Prognosis (mRS≤2) was significantly better in group A (70.0%) than that in group B (37.1%) and group C (30.0%), both P<0.01. The mortality rate in group A (6.7%) was lower than that in group B (14.3%) and group C (20.0%) without statistically significant, both P>0.05. Conclusion: AIS patients with AF within 4.5 hours from onset should receive endovascular treatment directly.
