Abstract
A direct asymmetric dearomative amination of tryptamines with O-(2,4-dinitrophenyl)hydroxylamine (DPH) was achieved using CuBr-bisoxazoline complex as a catalyst, affording 3a-amino-pyrroloindolines in good to excellent enantioselectivity under mild reaction conditions. Furthermore, the synthetic value of this method was demonstrated in the total synthesis of (-)-psychotriasine in a highly concise manner.

Abstract
α-Amino allenylphosphonates were treated with cerium(iv) ammonium nitrate under various conditions to form spirodienones in good to excellent yields. The 5-endo-dig cyclization proceeds through the formation of a key iminium intermediate. A comprehensive study on the nature of the solvent used for this reaction was undertaken resulting in the formation of three types of spirodienone scaffolds.

Abstract
The highly enantioselective synthesis of densely functionalized 2,3-indoline-cyclobutanes by means of chiral gold catalysis is presented. Intermolecular formal [2+2]-cycloaddition reactions between substituted indoles and allenamides enabled direct access to methylenecyclobutane-fused indolines, featuring two consecutive quaternary stereogenic centers with excellent stereochemical control (dr > 20 : 1, ee up to 99%).

Abstract
The highly efficient synthesis of the enantioenriched spiroindolines by iridium-catalyzed asymmetric allylic dearomatization and reduction is presented. Spiroindolines containing three contiguous stereogenic centers were obtained with excellent diastereo- and enantioselectivity. In addition, a chiral tryptamine derivative could be easily accessed in good yield with excellent ee value through an unprecedented dearomatization/retro-Mannich/hydrolysis cascade reaction of an indole derivative.

Abstract
A new way of forming the aza-o-xylylene with easily accessible 1,2-dihydroquinolines as precursor has been developed. The presence of an electron-donating group at the proper position of 1,2-dihydroquinoline was crucial for protonation of the alkene through dearomatization with a simple Brønsted acid. The in situ forming reactive intermediate was trapped with Hantzsch ester to afford tetrahydroquinolines in excellent yield and enantioselectivity.

Abstract
An Ir-catalyzed asymmetric allylic alkylation of 3-substituted indoles is reported. The reaction provides indoline products containing multiple contiguous stereocenters with high site-, regio-, diastereo- and enantioselectivities in one step from a wide range of readily available starting materials. The key to this method is the high level of diastereocontrol enabled by an iridium catalyst derived from a N-aryl phosphoramidite ligand (Me-THQphos, 1c).

Abstract
An organocatalytic asymmetric chlorinative dearomatization of naphthols was realized for the first time, providing chiral naphthalenones with a Cl-containing all-substituted stereocenter in excellent yields and enantioselectivity (up to 97% yield and 96% ee). The reaction features mild reaction conditions, good tolerance of diverse functional groups and simple reaction operation.

Abstract
The asymmetric dearomatization of N-heterocycles is an important synthetic method to gain bioactive and synthetically valuable chiral heterocycles. However, the catalytic enantio- and regioselective dearomatization of the simplest six-membered-ring N-heteroarenes, the pyridines, is still very challenging. The first anion-binding-catalyzed, highly enantioselective nucleophilic dearomatization of pyridines with triazole-based H-bond donor catalysts is presented. Contrary to other more common NH-based H-bond donors, this type of organocatalyst shows a prominent higher C2-regioselectivity and is able to promote high enantioinductions via formation of a close chiral anion-pair complex with a preformed N-acyl pyridinium ionic intermediate. This method offers a straightforward and useful synthetic approach to chiral N-heterocycles from abundant and readily available pyridines.

Abstract
Dearomatization reactions provide the most efficient method for the synthesis of spiro- or fused-ring systems from readily available compounds. This review summarizes the recent developments in dearomatization reactions of indoles, pyridines, quinolines, isoquinolines, and some other heteroaromatic compounds. The applications of these methods in total synthesis of natural products are also briefly introduced.

Abstract
The first highly diastereo- and enantioselective synthesis of five-membered spiro-2H-pyrroles was achieved using an Ir-catalyzed asymmetric allylic dearomatization reaction. The spiro-2H-pyrrole derivatives readily undergo a controllable and stereospecific allylic migration under acid catalysis, providing polycyclic pyrrole derivatives in excellent yields and ee values. Additionally, the novel Ir-complex K1, derived from [Ir(cod)Cl]2 (cod = 1,5-cyclooctadiene) and N-benzhydryl-N-phenyldinaphthophosphoramidite (BHPphos), showed excellent control of both diastereo- and enantioselectivities.

Abstract
A novel and direct oxidative spirocyclization of arylpropiolamides with sulfonylhydrazides leading to 3-sulfonated azaspiro[4,5]trienones has been developed under metal-free conditions. The reaction is performed in a tandem manner constituted by the sequential sulfonylation of alkynes, ipso-carbocyclization, dearomatization, hydration, and oxidation processes, providing a convenient and efficient approach to various sulfonated azaspiro[4,5] trienones of biological importance.
