Abstract
New 1-[(1,3-thiazol-2-ylamino)methyl]-2-naphthols were obtained by condensation of 2-aminothiazole, aromatic aldehydes, and 2-naphthol in the presence of (+)-camphor-10-sulfonic acid ((+)-CSA) as an effective catalyst under ultrasound-promoted solvent-free conditions. The 1-[(1,3-thiazol-2-ylamino)methyl]-2-naphthol derivatives were converted in ring-closure reaction with formaldehyde to the corresponding naphthoxazine derivatives.

Abstract
Antimicrobial agents 4a-g and 5a-g with very good potency were synthesized with 100% ee from phenylpropanolamine (norephedrine) by BF3 catalyzed three components one pot Mannich reaction in good yields. Obtained compounds were characterized using spectral techniques. Antimicrobial study of these compounds revealed a good to very high potential activity against tested microbes when compared to standard antimicrobial drugs streptomycin and ketoconazole. These synthesized compounds exhibited significant minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) values against Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria. Amongst compound 4b, 4c, 4d, 4e, 5a, and 5e exhibited very high potent MIC values against tested twelve bacteria and three fungi when compared to control. When subjected to molecular docking, in silico studies revealed significant binding energies ranging from -7.06 to -8.90 kcal/mol for all obtained compounds towards target receptor DNA topoisomerase IV and amongst compounds 4b and 4d have shown maximum binding energies 8.70 and 8.90 kcal/mol, respectively.

Abstract
Given the attractive ability of iminium ions to functionalize molecules directly at ostensibly unreactive positions, the reactivity of iminium ions, in which an α CH2 group is replaced by CO was explored. Background studies on the ability of such iminium cations to promote reactions via an iminium-catalyzed or iminium-equivalent pathway are apparently unavailable. Previously, tandem cross-coupling reactions were reported, in which an iminium ion undergoes nucleophilic 1,2-addition to give a putative three-component intermediate that abstracts a proton in situ and undergoes self-deamination followed by unprecedented DMSO/aerobic oxidation to generate α-ketoamides. However, later it was observed that iminium ions can generate valuable α-ketoamides through simple aerobic oxidation. In all reactions, iminium ions were generated in situ by reaction of 2-oxoaldehydes with secondary amines.

The reported approaches were employed for modifications of the parent nucleoside core or for de novo construction of a nucleoside scaffold from non-nucleoside substrates. The cited references are grouped according to the usually recognized types of the MCRs. Biochemical properties of the novel nucleoside analogs are also presented (if provided by the authors).

Abstract
Quaternary ammonium geminal Brønsted acid ionic liquids (GBAILs) based on zwitterionic 1,2-bis[N-methyl-N-(3-sulfopropyl)-alkylammonium]ethane (where the carbon number of the alkyl chain is 4, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, or 18) and p-toluenesulfonic acid monohydrate were synthesized. The catalytic ionic liquids were applied in three-component Mannich reactions with an aldehyde, ketone, and amine at 25 °C in water. The effects of the type and amount of catalyst and reaction time as well as the scope of the reaction were investigated. Results showed that GBAIL-C14 has excellent catalytic activity and fair reusability. The catalytic procedure was simple, and the catalyst could be recycled seven times via a simple separation process without noticeable decreases in catalytic activity.
