Abstract
Aqueous CdTe quantum dots solar cells have been successfully fabricated by the blade coating method on the magnesium zinc oxide (Zn1−xMgxO or ZMO) window layer. Compared with the ZMO mono-window layer, the ZMO/CdS bi-window layer can decrease the interface recombination effectively due to the lower lattice mismatch and fast interdiffusion between CdS and CdTe. Moreover, the high temperature annealing of the CdTe quantum dots absorbed layer passivates the grain boundary of the CdTe crystalline via the replacement reaction of tellurium with sulfur. Finally, the conversion efficiency of our aqueous CdTe quantum dots solar device is improved from 3.21% to 8.06% with the introduction of the CdS interlayer and high temperature CdCl2 annealing. Our aqueous CdTe quantum dots solar devices show a large open circuit voltage and fill factor which are comparable with the conventional devices that are fabricated with organic CdTe quantum dots. We believe that it is the spike-like conduction band alignment between the ZMO and CdTe absorbed layer that reduces the majority carrier concentration, leading to the decrease in interface recombination probability.

Abstract
We herein report a self-powered and renewable cytosensing device based on ZnO nanodisks(NDs)@g-C3N4 quantum dots. The device features enhanced photoelectrochemical (PEC) activity compared to ZnO NDs or g-C3N4 QDs alone. The enhanced PEC ability is attributed to the synergistic effect of the high visible light sensitivity of g-C3N4 QDs and the staggered band alignment heterojunction structure with suitable band offset, which affords higher photoelectron transfer and separation efficiency. In addition, the hybridization of g-C3N4 QDs further accelerates interfacial electron transfer and blocks recombination between electron donors and photo-generated holes. The device was applied to the detection of CCRF-CEM cells. By conjugation to Sgc8c aptamer, which preferentially interacts with membrane-bound PTK7 on CCRF-CEM membranes, capture of target CCRF-CEM cells resulted in a decrease in apparent power output, which was then exploited for the ultrasensitive detection of the target cells. This decrease in power output can be recovered by simply increasing the temperature to release the cells, thus recycling the cytosensing performance. The device displayed a linear relationship between the change of power output and the logarithm of the cell concentration from 20 to 20,000 cell/mL (R2 = 0.9837) and a detection limit down to 20 cell/mL, as well as excellent selectivity and reproducibility. Thus, this ZnO NDs@g-C3N4 QDs-based device exhibits high potential for the detection of CCRF-CEM cells.

Abstract
Photocatalytic membranes that driven by visible light are highly desired for water treatment. Here g-C3N4 quantum dots (QDs) assembled into TiO2 nanotube array (TNA) membranes were fabricated for the first time as a visible-light-driven g-C3N4/TNA membrane. Benefiting from the synergistic effect of membrane filtration and photocatalysis, more than 60% of rhodamine B could be removed from water under visible light irradiation. Meanwhile, the g-C3N4/TNA membrane presented an enhanced anti-fouling ability during filtering water containing Escherichia coli under visible light irradiation, and a permeate flux of 2 times higher than that of filtration alone was obtained by integrated process. This study offers a promising strategy for the potential application of the visible-light-driven membranes in water treatment.

Abstract
Due to their low cost and high efficiency, polymer/nanocrystal hybrid solar cells (HSCs) have attracted much attention in recent years. In this work, water-soluble hybrid materials consisting of amphiphilic block copolymers (ABCPs) and cadmium telluride nanocrystals (CdTe NCs) were used as the active layer to fabricate the HSCs via aqueous processing. The ABCPs composed of poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) and poly(acrylic acid) (PAA) self-assembled into ordered nanostructured micelles which then transformed to nanowires by comicellization with P3HT additives. Furthermore, after annealing, the hybrid materials formed an interpenetrating network which resulted in a maximum power conversion efficiency of 4.8% in the HSCs. The properties of the hybrid materials and the film morphology were studied and correlated to the device performance. The results illustrate how the inclusion of ABCPs for directed assembly and homo-P3HT for charge transport and light absorption improves device performance. The aqueous-processed HSCs based on the ABCPs and NCs offer an effective method for the fabrication of efficient solar cells.

Abstract
A post-permeation method is constructed for fabricating bulk-heterojunction hybrid solar cells. Porous CdTe film is prepared by annealing the mixture solution of aqueous CdTe nanocrystals and cetyltrimethyl ammonium bromide, after which the post-permeation of polymer is employed. By this method, kinds of polymers can be applied regardless of the intermiscibility with the nanoparticles. The inorganic nanocrystals and the polymer can be treated under respective optimized annealing temperatures, which can facilitate the growth of nanocrystals without damaging the polymers. A high power conversion efficiency of 6.36% in the polymer/nanocrystals hybrid solar cells is obtained via systematical optimization.

Abstract
Self-assembly of block copolymers provides numerous opportunities to create functional materials, utilizing self-assembled microdomains with a variety of morphology and periodic architectures as templates for functional nanofillers. Here new progress is reported toward the fabrication of thermally responsive and electrically conductive polymeric self-assemblies made from a water-soluble poly(thiophene) derivative with short poly(ethylene oxide) side chains and Pluronic L62 block copolymer solution in water. The structural and electrical properties of conjugated polymer-embedded self-assembled architectures are investigated by combining small-angle neutron and X-ray scattering, coarse-grained molecular dynamics simulations, and impedance spectroscopy. The L62 solution template organizes the conjugated polymers by stably incorporating them into the hydrophilic domains thus inhibiting aggregation. The changing morphology of L62 during the micellar-to-lamellar phase transition defines the embedded conjugated polymer network. As a result, the conductivity is strongly coupled to the structural change of the templating L62 phase and exhibits thermally reversible behavior with no signs of quenching of the conductivity at high temperature. This study shows promise for enabling more flexibility in processing and utilizing water-soluble conjugated polymers in aqueous solutions for self-assembly based fabrication of stimuli-responsive nanostructures and sensory materials.

Abstract
A novel kind of hybrid solar cell (HSC) was developed by introducing water-soluble insulating polymer poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) into nanocrystals (NCs), which revealed that the most frequently used conjugated polymer could be replaced by an insulating one. It was realized by strategically taking advantage of the characteristic of decomposition for the polymer at annealing temperature, and it was interesting to discover that partial decomposition of PVA left behind plenty of pits on the surfaces of CdTe NC films, enlarging surface contact area between CdTe NCs and subsequently evaporated MoO3. Moreover, the residual annealed PVA filled in the voids among spherical CdTe NCs, which led to the decrease of leakage current. An improved shunt resistance (increased by ∼80%) was achieved, indicating the charge-carrier recombination was effectively overcome. As a result, the new HSCs were endowed with increased Voc, fill factor, and power conversion efficiency compared with the pure NC device. This approach can be applied to other insulating polymers (e.g., PVP) with advantages in synthesis, type, economy, stability, and so on, providing a novel universal cost-effective way to achieve higher photovoltaic performance.

Abstract
Replacing or minimizing the use of halogenated organic solvents in the processing and manufacturing of conjugated polymer-based organic electronics has emerged as an important issue due to concerns regarding toxicity, environmental impact, and high cost. To date, however, the processing of well-ordered conjugated polymer nanostructures has been difficult to achieve using environmentally benign solvents. In this work, we report the development of water and alcohol processable nanowires (NWs) with well-defined crystalline nanostructure based on the solution assembly of azide functionalized poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT-azide) and subsequent photo-cross-linking and functionalization of these NWs. The solution-assembled P3HT-azide NWs were successfully cross-linked by exposure to UV light, yielding good thermal and chemical stability. Residual azide units on the photo-cross-linked NWs were then functionalized with alkyne terminated polyethylene glycol (PEG-alkyne) using copper catalyzed azide-alkyne cycloaddition chemistry. PEG functionalization of the cross-linked P3HT-azide NWs allowed for stable dispersion in alcohols and water, while maintaining well-ordered NW structures with electronic properties suitable for the fabrication of organic field effect transistors (OFETs).

Abstract
We report the synthesis of a polyaniline (PAni)-gold nanoparticle (AuNP) composite thin film in a single step. A flexible high-performance visible photodetector is constructed using PAni-AuNP composite with low loading of AuNP, and optoelectronic properties of the device are evaluated. The present study demonstrates that a plasmonic hybrid nanocomposite prepared by a single-step novel plasma-based dry process could solve the low lifetime and performance-related issues of organic optoelectronic devices.
