Abstract
Vinylallenes have been synthesized and used as reagents for many years. However,
the number of reviews covering the advances in the chemistry of vinylallenes are
scarce. Most of the information lies in general reviews about allenes or in reviews dedicated
to specific areas of research. Today, vinylallenes are used in the synthesis due to the
special characteristics of this moiety, a diene with a non-conjugated double bond and the
capacity to generate axial chirality. In this review, the most relevant publications
involving vinylallenes, published in the last fifteen years, are compiled. The review
includes new or improved synthetic methods and the reactivity of vinylallenes prepared by
classical or new methods. The reactions of vinylallenes have been classified as Nazarovtype
processes, cycloaddition reactions, and reactions in which vinylallenes are key
intermediates, usually non-isolated but essential for the process to occur. Other types of reactivity are also
included.

Abstract
In solid-phase organic synthesis, Wang resin is traditionally used for the immobilization of acids, alcohols, phenols, and amines. We report the use of Wang resin for the traceless synthesis of ketones via acid-labile enol ethers. We demonstrate the practicality of this synthetic strategy on the solid-phase synthesis of pyrrolidine-2,4-diones, which represent the core structure of several natural products, including tetramic acid. Base-triggered condensation of pyrrolidine-2,4-diones yielded 4-hydroxy-1,1',2',5-tetrahydro-2H,5'H-[3,3'-bipyrrole]-2,5'-diones.

Abstract
Fmoc-protected Nα-amino acid containing heterocyclic privileged structures, O-(1-methyl-5-oxo-2,5-dihydro-1H-pyrrol-3-yl)-l-serine and O-((S)-5-oxo-2,3,5,7a-tetrahydro-1H-pyrrolizin-7-yl)-l-serine, were synthesized on the solid phase from simple commercially available building blocks under mild conditions. The amino acid side-chain is composed of tetramic acid, a natural product derived privileged structure. The key transformation was the formation of cyclic enol ethers via nonclassical Wittig olefinations of the esters. Solid-phase synthesis represents a method of choice, particularly for the synthesis of peptides. This route is compatible with traditional Merrifield solid-phase peptide synthesis (SPPS), as documented on the preparation of the pentapeptide Leu-enkephalin amide H-Tyr-Gly-Gly-Phe-Leu-NH2 with Phe or Tyr replaced by a novel amino acid.

Abstract
An efficient base-catalyzed protocol for the synthesis of benzothiophene is described. The reaction proceeds via base-promoted propargyl-allenyl rearrangement followed by cyclization and allyl migration. Phosphine-substituted indoles can be synthesized by a similar strategy.

Abstract
1,3-Dien-5-ynes have been extensively used as starting materials for the synthesis of a wide number of different carbo- and heterocycles. The aim of this review is to give an overview of their utility in organic synthesis, highlighting the variety of compounds that can be directly accessed from single reactions over these systems. Thus, cycloaromatization processes are initially commented, followed by reactions directed toward the syntheses of five-membered rings, other carbocycles and, finally, heterocycles. The diverse methodologies that have been developed for the synthesis of each of these types of compounds from 1,3-dien-5-ynes are presented, emphasizing the influence of the reaction conditions and the use of additional reagents in the outcome of the transformations.
