Abstract
Fluorohydrins - or β-fluorinated alcohols - and their fluorinated group derivatives are a biologically relevant class of compounds, with applications ranging from PET tracers to cancer therapeutics. Recent efforts have unlocked asymmetric access to these related motifs through reactions of carbonyls, alkenes, organoboranes, and epoxides or transformations such as cyclizations or ring expansions. The present work provides an overview of synthetic approaches to various fluorohydrins that have been explored in the past decade, as well as selected examples of these syntheses applied to medicinal chemistry.

Abstract
Current methods for the asymmetric α-sulfenylation of carbonyls cannot be applied to acyclic carbonyls that have two similar substituents at the α-position. This research demonstrated that the electrophilic sulfenylation of geometry-defined acyclic β,β-disubstituted enesulfinamides using S-aryl or S-alkyl benzenethiosulfonates can be highly stereoselective. This process results in enantioenriched α,α-disubstituted α-sulfenylated ketone surrogates with sulfur-containing acyclic tetrasubstituted carbon stereocenters bearing two electronically and sterically similar substituents (e.g., methyl and ethyl). Furthermore, by employing the corresponding stereoisomers of enensulfinamides, any of the four stereoisomers of α-sulfenylated ketimines can be selectively accessed.

Abstract
The development of new and efficient methods, reagents, and catalysts for the introduction of fluorine atoms or fluorinated moieties in molecular scaffolds has become a topic of paramount importance in organic synthesis. In this framework, the incorporation of the SCF3 group into organic molecule has often led to beneficial effects on the drug’s metabolic stability and bioavailability. Here we report our studies aimed to the stereoselective synthesis of chiral α-SCF3-β−ketoesters featuring a tetrasubstituted stereocenter. The use of a chiral auxiliary was crucial to synthesize enantiopure enamines that were reacted with N-trifluoromethylthio saccharin or phthalimide, to afford enantioenriched α-SCF3-tetrasubstitued β-keto esters. By using a readily available, inexpensive chiral diamine, such as trans-1,2-diaminocyclohexane, the fluorinated products could be obtained in modest to good yields, and, after the removal of the chiral auxiliary, α-substituted- α trifluoromethylthio-β−ketoesters were isolated with high enantioselectivity (up to 91% ee).

Abstract
Chiral selenide-catalyzed enantioselective trifluoromethylthiolation of 1,1-disubstituted alkenes is disclosed. By this method, a variety of chiral trifluoromethylthiolated 2,5-disubstituted oxazolines were obtained in good yields with high enantioselectivities. This work not only provides a new pathway for the synthesis of chiral oxazolines, but also expands the library of chiral trifluoromethylthiolated molecules.

Abstract
The first electrophilic diastereoselective direct introduction of the difluoromethylthio group is described. We used a chiral auxiliary-based approach to illustrate the versatility of our recently developed difluoromethanesulfonyl hypervalent iodonium ylide reagents for the difluoromethylthiolation of indanone-based β-keto esters. Chiral SCF2H-featuring compounds were obtained in up to 93% ee value.

Abstract
A diastereoselective α-sulfenylation of chiral α-aryl/alkyl N- tert-butanesulfinyl imidates has been developed. Suitable sulfur electrophiles can be used as sulfenylating reagents to intercept aza-enolates generated from imidate deprotonation, giving α-thiofunctionalized imidates in good yields with high diastereocontrol. This protocol for C-S bond formation can efficiently synthesize enantioenriched 1,2-sulfanyl amine derivatives such as sulconazole.
