Abstract
Circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) materials with clustering-triggered emission (CTE) characteristic have gradually attracted attention for their unique photophysical properties. However, the majority of reported clusteroluminogens lack chirality and exhibit heterogeneity, making it challenging to achieve a well-defined helical structure necessary for efficient CPL with high dissymmetry factor (glum ). In this paper, chiral liquid crystals are constructed to obtain CTE-based CPL materials with high glum values. Side chain liquid crystal polymer PM6Chol bearing cholesterol clusteroluminogens are designed and synthesized. PM6Chol-coated film and PM6Chol thermal-treated film are also successfully prepared by different film-forming methods. Both the films inherit the CTE characteristic of cholesterol and show excitation wavelength-dependent luminescent behavior. However, the two polymer films exhibit different liquid crystal phase structures, with PM6Chol-coated film being a chiral bilayer smectic C phase and PM6Chol thermal-treated film being an achiral bilayer smectic A phase. Attributed to helical arrangement of cholesterol, PM6Chol-coated film emits efficient CPL with glum values up to 1.0 × 10-1 . For PM6Chol thermal-treated film, no CPL signal is detected due to the absence of helical structure. However, it shows obvious room-temperature phosphorescence with 2.0 s afterglow and 23.9 ms lifetime.

Abstract
Chirality is a universal phenomenon in molecular and biological systems, denoting an asymmetric configurational property where an object cannot be superimposed onto its mirror image by any kind of translation or rotation, which is ubiquitous on the scale from neutrinos to spiral galaxies. Chirality plays a very important role in the life system. Many biological molecules in the life body show chirality, such as the "codebook" of the earth's biological diversity-DNA, nucleic acid, etc. Intriguingly, living organisms hierarchically consist of homochiral building blocks, for example, l-amino acids and d-sugars with unknown reason. When molecules with chirality interact with these chiral factors, only one conformation favors the positive development of life, that is, the chiral host environment can only selectively interact with chiral molecules of one of the conformations. The differences in chiral interactions are often manifested by chiral recognition, mutual matching, and interactions with chiral molecules, which means that the stereoselectivity of chiral molecules can produce changes in pharmacodynamics and pathology. Here, the latest investigations are summarized including the construction and applications of chiral materials based on natural small molecules as chiral source, natural biomacromolecules as chiral sources, and the material synthesized by design as a chiral source.

Abstract
Circularly polarized emission (CPE) plays an important role in the designs of advanced displays and photonic integrated circuits. Unfortunately, the control of CPE handedness is limited by the chiral metasurfaces employed to emit chiral light. Particularly, the switching of the handedness with chiral metasurfaces relies on flipping the metasurfaces, which adds some constraints to practical applications. Herein, we propose an angle-sensitive chiral metamirror with Mie resonators to realize handedness switching. The Mie resonator supports a magnetic dipole having large field enhancement. This chiral metamirror is applied to excite CPEs with opposite handedness at emission angles within 10°. In contrast to the conventional methods, this work proposes a more efficient approach to manipulate the handedness of CPE.

Abstract
Circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) is a fast growing research field as a complementary chiroptical spectroscopy alternative to the conventional circular dichroism or in the quest of devices producing circularly polarized light for different applications. Because chiroptical signals are generally lower than 0.1%, conventional chiral spectroscopies rely on polarization time modulation requiring step-by-step wavelength scanning and a long acquisition time. High throughput controls motivated the development of CPL spectrophotometers using cameras as detectors and space polarization splitting. However, CPL measurements imposes careful precautions to minimize the numerous artifacts arising from experimental imperfections. Some previous work used complex calibration procedure to this end. Here we present a rigorous Mueller analysis of an instrument based on polarizations space splitting. We show that by using one camera and combining spatial and temporal separation through two switchable circular polarization encoding arms we can record accurate CPL spectra without the need of any calibration. The measurements robustness and their fast acquisition times are exemplified on different chiral emitters.

Abstract
In this paper, chiral intermediate phases composed of two achiral molecules are fabricated by utilizing nanophase separation and molecular hierarchical self-organization. An achiral bent-core guest molecule, exhibiting a calamitic nematic and a dark conglomerate phase according to the temperature, is mixed with another achiral bent-core host molecule possessing a helical nanofilament to separate the phases between them. Two nanosegregated phases are identified, and considerable chiroptical changes, such as circular dichroism and circularly polarized luminescence, are detected at the transition temperatures between the different nanophase-separated states. The nanosegregated chiral phase-wherein the helical nanofilament and dark conglomerate phases are phase-separated-exhibits the highest chiroptical intensities. The luminescence dissymmetry factor, |glum|, in this phase is amplified by an order of magnitude compared with that of another nanosegregated phase, wherein the helical nanofilament and nematic phases are phase-separated.

Abstract
This study reports the facile syntheses of tetra-boron difluoride (tetra-BF2 ) complexes, flag-hinge-like molecules that exhibit intense green-to-orange luminescence in solution and yellow-to-red emission in the solid states. Single-crystal structure analysis and density functional theory calculations suggested a bent structure of this series of compounds. The complexes also exhibited excellent optical properties, with quantum yields reaching 100 % and a large Stokes shift. These properties were attributed to the altered bending angle of the molecule in the S1 excited state. As the rotational motion was suppressed around the 2,2'-bipyrrole axis, atropisomers with axial chirality were formed, which are optically resolvable into (R) and (S)-enantiomers through a chiral column. The atropisomers thus function as circularly polarized luminescent (CPL) materials, in which the color (green, green-yellow, and yellow) can be varied by controlling the aggregation state. This rational design of multi-BF2 complexes can potentially realize novel photofunctional materials.

Abstract
Biomimetic ATP-driven supramolecular assembly is important to understand various biological processes and dissipative systems. Here, we report an ATP-driven chiral assembly exhibiting circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) via the interaction of an achiral terpyridine-based ZnII complex with nucleotides. It was found that while the metal complexes could co-assemble with the nucleotides to form fluorescent assemblies, only a combination of furan-substituted terpyridine complex and ATP showed an intense CPL with a dissymmetry factor (glum ) as high as 0.20. This means that the complex could recognize ATP using CPL as a readout signal, thus providing an example of ATP encryption. Interestingly, when ATP was transferred into ADP or AMP under enzymatic hydrolysis, the CPL decreases or disappears. Addition of ATP generates CPL again, thus producing an ATP-induced CPL system. This work presents the first example of ATP-induced CPL and encryption.

Abstract
Chiral organic phosphors with circularly polarized room-temperature phosphorescence (CPP) provide new prospects to the realm of circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) materials, owing to the long-lived triplet states and persistent emission. Although several molecular designs show efficient room-temperature phosphorescence (RTP), realization of ambient organic CPP remains a formidable challenge. Herein, we introduce a chiral bischromophoric phosphor design to realize ambient CPP emission by appending molecular phosphors to a chiral diaminocyclohexane core. Thus, solution-processable polymer films of the trans-1,2-diaminocyclohexane (DAC) chiral cores with heavy-atom substituted pyromellitic diimide phosphors, exhibits one of the most efficient exclusive CPP emissions with high phosphorescence quantum yield (≈18 % in air and ≈46 % under vacuum) and significant luminescence dissymmetry factor (|glum |≈4.0×10-3 ).

Abstract
We report the design of a synthetically easy accessible axial chirality-inducing framework for a chromophore of choice. The scaffold consists of two basic para-phenylene-ethynylene backbones separated by laterally placed corner units. Substitution with an inherently achiral chromophore at the 2 and 5 positions of the central phenylene excitonically couples the chromophore associated transition and thereby results in chiroptical properties. Using 6-methoxynaphthalene as a model chromophore, we present the synthesis, structural analysis and spectroscopic investigation of the framework. The chiral framework was synthesized in three straightforward synthetic steps and fully characterized. The obtained racemic compounds were resolved using HPLC and assignment of the absolute configuration was performed using the exciton chirality method, crystallography and DFT calculations. This simple yet potent framework might prove useful to enrich the structural diversity of chiral materials.

Abstract
New C3 -symmetric imidazole ligands were designed with phosphine and phosphine oxide linkers (LP and LPO , respectively) to demonstrate a dual-triggered dynamic closed coordination cage. Both LP and LPO form discrete Zn4 L4 -closed cages (1P and 1PO , respectively) with excellent selectively for BPh4 - , whereas 1P and 1PO encapsulate neither a slightly larger size anion [B(C6 H4 CH3 )4 - ] nor smaller size anions (BF4 - , PF6 - , SbF6 - , and OSO2 CF3 - ). 1PO exhibits more negative enthalpy and entropy changes upon anion encapsulation, thus releasing almost all of the encapsulated anions at high temperature (343 K) (trigger 1: BPh4 - ⊂1PO ← → 1PO +BPh4 - ). In contrast 1P has less negative enthalpy and entropy changes, thus preserving the captured anion over a wide range of temperatures (298 K to 343 K). The 1P cage can be quantitatively oxidized to the 1PO cage by a mild oxidant (Ox.=H2 O2 ), and therefore the captured anion can be released by a redox triggering event (trigger 2: BPh4 - ⊂1P +Ox.→1PO +BPh4 - ).

Abstract
The first example of luminescent monosubstituted polyacetylenes (mono-PAs) is presented, based on a contracted cis-cisoid polyene backbone. It has an excellent circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) performance with a high dissymmetric factor (up to the order of 10-1 ). The luminescence stems from the helical cis-cisoid PA backbone, which is tightly fixed by the strong intramolecular hydrogen bonds, thereby reversing the energy order of excited states and enabling an emissive energy dissipation. CPL switches are facilely achieved by the solvent and temperature through reversible conformational transition. By taking advantages of fast response and high sensitivity, the thin film of mono-PAs could be used as a CPL-based probe for quantitative detection of trifluoroacetic acid with a wider linear dynamic range than those of photoluminescence and circular dichroism. This work opens a new avenue to develop novel smart CPL materials through modulating conformational transition.

Abstract
Chirality at different levels is widely observed in nature, but the clue to connect it all together, and the way chirality transfers among different levels are still obscure. Herein, a l-/d-lysine-based self-assembly system was constructed, in which two-step chirality transfer among three different levels was observed in aqueous solution. The chirality originated from the point chirality of amino acid derivatives l-/d-PyLys hydrochloride, and was transferred to the planar conformational chirality of water-soluble pillar[5]arene pR-/pS-WP5. Then, with the aid of pR-/pS-WP5, nanoparticles were formed that exhibited L-/R-handed circularly polarized luminescence with a dissymmetry factor of up to ±0.001, arising from pyrene chiral excimers. This multilevel chirality transfer not only provides a perspective to trace potential clues, and to pursue certain ways by which the chirality transfers, but also offers a strategy to create controllable CPL emission in aqueous media.

Abstract
The rational synthesis of trinuclear emissive organometallic complexes with two equivalent platinum(II) centres appended to the ancillary substituted 2,2'-bipyridyl ligand of the cyclometalated iridium(III) centre is reported here. The alkynyl-platinum moiety and cyclometalated iridium(III) centres have been separated through a non-conjugated CH2 -O-CH2 linkage. The emission titration with amino acids reveals that the complexes sense free amino acids. The luminescence sensing of BSA is thus attributed to the amino acid sensing ability of the complexes and confirmed by emission anisotropy and Far-UV CD spectral study. The decrease in α-helix in the CD spectra signifies the changes in the secondary structure of protein in presence of the complexes.

Abstract
Herein, we report an achiral anthracene-based tetracationic nanotube (1⋅4Cl- ) that shows two levels of supramolecular chirality: namely, conformationally adaptive host-guest complexation with nucleoside triphosphates (e.g. ATP, GTP, CTP, and UTP) and twisted packing of the chiral host-guest complexes in water. Interestingly, achiral 1⋅4Cl- exhibits chiral recognition for ATP/GTP and CTP/UTP through structural transformation of its intramolecular M- and P-twisted conformation as the first level of supramolecular chirality, which leads to adaptive chirality with opposite CD responses. Furthermore, the formation of chiral M-1⋅4Cl- ⊃ATP can promote an intermolecular P-twisted dimeric packing of anthracene rings as the second level of supramolecular chirality to achieve assembled chirality with strong circularly polarized luminescence arising from the excimer ((+)-CPL, glum ≈10-2 ) in water.

Abstract
Chiral light-matter interactions have emerged as a promising area in biophysics and quantum optics. Great progress in enhancing chiral light-matter interactions have been investigated through passive resonators or spontaneous emission. Nevertheless, the interaction between chiral biomolecules and stimulated emission remains unexplored. Here we introduce the concept of a biological chiral laser by amplifying chiral light-matter interactions in an active resonator through stimulated emission process. Green fluorescent proteins or chiral biomolecules encapsulated in Fabry-Perot microcavity served as the gain material while excited by either left-handed or right-handed circularly polarized pump laser. Owing to the nonlinear pump energy dependence of stimulated emission, significant enhancement of chiral light-matter interactions was demonstrated. Detailed experiments and theory revealed that a lasing dissymmetry factor is determined by molecular absorption dissymmetry factor at its excitation wavelength. Finally, chirality transfer was investigated under a stimulated emission process through resonance energy transfer. Our findings elucidate the mechanism of stimulated chiral light-matter interactions, providing better understanding of light-matter interaction in biophysics, chiral sensing, and quantum biophotonics.

Abstract
The solvent-free organic π-liquids have been attracting increasing attentions owing to the inherent optoelectronic properties accompanied by the advantages of non-volatility and high processability. Herein, we reported a series of naphthalene derivatives substituted with chiral branched alkyl chains, which are present as liquids (Nap1-3) or solid (Nap4) at room temperature, depending on the substitution positions. Circular dichroism (CD) and circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) were only observed for enantiomeric Nap2 (2,3-substituted) liquid. It is suggested that the chiral aggregation in the π-liquid leads to the CD signal and the chiral excimer resulting in the CPL performance. When achiral anthracene or pyrene was dissolved in Nap2, the π-liquid could serve as chirality and energy transfer media in which both CD and CPL emerged from the achiral anthracene. A CPL dissymmetry factor (|glum |) of anthracene reached to 5.2×10-2 when dissolved in chiral Nap2 liquid, which is nearly two orders of magnitude higher than that of the pure Nap2 π-liquid.

Abstract
Spirocyclic Ag9 clusters, as a new form of intrinsically chiral metal clusters, were constructed through vertex-sharing of two in-situ-generated heteroaryl diide-centered metal rings. Such core-peripheral type clusters exhibit versatile photoluminescent and chiroptical behavior under different aggregation conditions. In contrast to a ligand-based fluorescence emission in a diluted solution of the clusters, a solvent polarity-caused assembly gives rise to new cluster-based phosphorous luminescence owing to radiative mode switching and aggregation-induced emission. Assembly of cluster enantiomers leads to micrometer-long helical nanofibers, whose handedness is determined by absolute configuration of individual spirocyclic clusters. Benefiting from exciton couplings of helical arrangements of chelating ligands at molecular and microscopic levels, the assembled film of cluster enantiomers exhibits circularly polarized luminescence with a high anisotropy factor (0.16).

Abstract
Considerable luminescence dissymmetry factor (glum) is vital for application implementation of circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) materials. Moreover, a dual CPL switch has promising prospects in high-security encryption and sensor devices. Herein, we designed and synthesized an emissive chiral nematic liquid crystal (N*-LC) by doping a luminescent chiral additive (NO2-CS-C6-Chol) into a nematic liquid crystal (5CB). The helical assembly structure produced by inducing the formation of N*-LC endows the prepared emissive N*-LC with a larger glum value. With the increase of the doping concentration from 1 to 10 wt %, the helical pitch (P) of N*-LC gradually decreases from 25.48 to 3.92 μm. The corresponding glum value increases first, reaches the maximum value (-0.38) at 6 wt %, and then decreases slightly. Further, the prepared emissive N*-LC doped with 6 wt % NO2-CS-C6-Chol is injected into an indium-tin oxide (ITO)-coated LC cell, to which a direct current (DC) electric field is applied. The glum value can be repeatedly shuttled between the "on" and "off" state by adjusting the applied voltage. Meanwhile, owing to the inherent thermal dependence of the liquid crystal phase structure, the glum value can also be switched between the on and off state by regulating the temperature. Therefore, an electrically controlled and thermocontrolled dual CPL switching device is successfully constructed.

Abstract
This work demonstrates a new nonconventional ligand design, imidazole/pyridine-based nonsymmetrical ditopic ligands (1 and 1S ), to construct a dynamic open coordination cage from nonsymmetrical building blocks. Upon complex formation with Pd2+ at a 1:4 molar ratio, 1 and 1S initially form mononuclear PdL4 complexes (Pd2+ (1)4 and Pd2+ (1S )4 ) without formation of a cage. The PdL4 complexes undergo a stoichiometrically controlled structural transition to Pd2 L4 open cages ((Pd2+ )2 (1)4 and (Pd2+ )2 (1S )4 ) capable of anion binding, leading to turn-on anion binding. The structural transitions between the Pd2 L4 open cage and the PdL4 complex are reversible. Thus, stoichiometric addition (2 equiv) of free 1S to the (Pd2+ )2 (1S )4 open cage holding a guest anion ((Pd2+ )2 (1S )4 ⋅G- ) enables the structural transition to the Pd2+ (1S )4 complex, which does not have a cage and thus causes the release of the guest anion (Pd2+ (1S )4 +G- ).
