Abstract
We report the synthesis and properties of the much sought-after tris(1,1,3,3-tetramethylguanidinyl) phosphine P(tmg)3 , a crystalline, superbasic phosphine accessible through a short and scalable procedure from the cheap and commercially available bulk chemicals 1,1,3,3-tetramethylguanidine, tris(dimethylamino)-phosphine and phosphorus trichloride. The new phosphine exhibits exceptional electron donor properties and readily forms transition metal complexes with gold(I), palladium(II) and rhodium(I) precursors. The formation of zwitterionic Lewis base adducts with carbon dioxide and sulfur dioxide was explored. In addition, the complete series of phosphine chalcogenides was prepared from the reaction of P(tmg)3 with N2 O and the elemental chalcogens.

Abstract
Syndioselective polymerization of unprotected polar styrenes has achieved great success via specially designed catalysts and establishment of "self-assisted" theory. On contrary, isospecific polymerization of polar styrenes has remained less explored, which needs to break the dilemma of high selectivity and activity of the involved catalysts. Herein, we present new racemic ansa-bis(benz[e]indenyl) rare-earth metal complexes and their high activity and perfect isoselectivity ( mmmm > 99 %) for the polymerization of unmasked polar styrenes without any activators. Moreover, the copolymerizations of para / meta -methoxystyrenes with styrene give gradient and random copolymers, respectively. The insertion rate of polar monomers could be readily tuned in the range of 0-100 mol % by changing their loading ratios. The resultant isotactic polar polystyrenes are quantitatively transformed into hydroxyl or methylsulfonyl polystyrenes with high T g s. DFT calculations reveal the isospecific mechanim.

Abstract
In this contribution, Lewis pairs (LPs) composed of N-heterocyclic olefins (NHOs) with different steric hindrance and nucleophilicity as Lewis bases (LBs) and Al-based compounds with comparable acidity but different steric hindrance as Lewis acids (LAs) were applied for 1,4-selective polymerization of (E,E)-methyl sorbate (MS) and (E,E)-ethyl sorbate (ES). The effects of steric hindrance, electron-donating ability, and acidity of LPs on MS and ES polymerization were systematically investigated. High catalytic activity and high initiation efficiency can be achieved, leading to the formation of PMS with 100 % 1,4-selectivity, tunable molecular weight (Mw up to 333 kg mol-1 ), and narrow molecular weight distribution (MWD). Block copolymerization of ES and methyl methacrylate (MMA) was also realized. Meanwhile, this system can be applied to other homologous conjugated diene substrates. Furthermore, simple chemical reactions can efficiently convert PMS to different polymers with strict (AB)n sequence structures, such as poly(sorbic acid), poly(propylene-alt-methyl acrylate), poly(propylene-alt-acrylic acid), poly(propylene-alt-allyl alcohol), and poly(ethylene-alt-2-butylene).
