Abstract
A one-pot, four-component reaction for the synthesis of novel chromeno[3,4-c]spiropyrrolidine-indenoquinoxalines is described via a 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition of 3-acetyl-coumarins with the azomethine ylides followed by deacetylation and protonation (deuteration). The products were obtained in moderate to high yields, and their structures were confirmed by 1H NMR, 13C NMR, FT-IR, and MS spectroscopy.

Abstract
Synergistic catalysis offers the unique possibility of simultaneous activation of both the nucleophile and the electrophile in a reaction. A requirement for this strategy is the stability of the active species towards the reaction conditions and the two concerted catalytic cycles. Since the beginning of the century, aminocatalysis has been established as a platform for the stereoselective activation of carbonyl compounds through HOMO‐raising or LUMO‐lowering. The burgeoning era of aminocatalysis has been driven by a deep understanding of these activation and stereoinduction modes, thanks to the introduction of versatile and privileged chiral amines. The aim of this review is to cover recent developments in synergistic strategies involving aminocatalysis in combination with organo‐, metal‐, photo‐, and electro‐catalysis, focusing on the evolution of privileged aminocatalysts architectures.

The activation of

formation to promote chemical reactions appears as a suitable strategy
in organic synthesis, especially for the preparation of chiral compounds
under metal and organocatalytic conditions. The use of this interaction
has enabled reactivity enhancement of reagents, as well as stabilization

Abstract
Asymmetric synthesis of chiral pyrrolidines bearing an all-carbon quaternary stereocenter in the 3-position remains challenging. Herein we report two efficient protocols by means of oxetane desymmetrization, featuring the use of a readily available tert-butylsulfinamide chiral auxiliary and a catalytic system with chiral phosphoric acid as the source of chirality, respectively.

Abstract
A highly stereoselective 1,3-dipolar [6+4] cycloaddition towards bridged azabicyclo[4.3.1]decane scaffolds has been developed, reacting aldehydes, 2-aminomalonates and tropone under mild conditions in the presence of a chiral phosphoric acid catalyst. The scope is demonstrated for a series of aldehydes and 2-aminomalonates, and the reaction proceeds in high yields, >95:5 d.r. and up to 99 % ee. A series of transformations, as well as a mechanistic proposal, are presented.

Abstract
In this paper is described the competition and transition between hydrogen bonding and protonation of alkynes connected, on one side, to various aromatic rings and to chiral amino ester appendages on the other side. While the first mode of activation induced the cyclization into pyrrolidines, the protonation of the alkyne led preferentially to tetrahydropyridines due to the higher level of the highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) of the considered arylogous ynolethers and ynamines. The transition between H-bonding and protonation was observed with the alkyne substituted with 2-methoxyphenyl, for which the cyclization delivered either five- or six-membered rings depending on the temperature of the experiment. From there, the cyclization of dialkoxy- and trialkoxyphenyl-substituted alkynes into six-membered rings, i.e., tetrahydropyridines, was developed. When next applied to alkynylindoles, the same pattern of cyclization provided six-membered rings as an illustration of the reactivity of arylogous ynamines. Thanks to the high reactivity of the intermediate cationic species, weak nucleophiles such as NH-oxazolidinone participated efficiently in the hydroamination reaction of alkynylindoles. Pyrrolidines, tetrahydropyridines, and piperidines decorated with various aromatics and substituents were thus prepared in enantio- and stereoselective manner. Capitalizing on the enamine moiety of the azaheterocycles, the molecular diversity was extended through stereoselective oxidation and ring contraction processes.

Abstract
The aim of this review is to provide an overview of green protocols for the organic synthesis of heterocycles via 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition. Particular attention has been devoted to the use of green solvents; reactions performed in ionic liquids, fluorinated solvents and water have been included. Also explored are several protocols that make use of catalyst-free reaction conditions, the use of microwave irradiation and activation by light exposure. Improvements over commonly used organic solvents will be underlined in order to highlight environmental protection aspects and enhancements in regio- and stereo-selectivity.

Abstract
An organocatalytic asymmetric cascade reaction has been developed for the synthesis of highly substituted pyrrolidines having a stereogenic quaternary centre at the 3-position. N-Tosyl aminomethyl enone and trans-α-cyano-α,β-unsaturated ketone were utilized as the reaction partners in this method. Cinchonidine derived bifunctional amino-squaramide catalysts were the best to obtain the products in high enantio- and diastereoselectivities.

Abstract
![]()
An organocatalytic
strategy for the synthesis of tetrasubstituted
pyrrolidines with monoactivated azomethine ylides in high enantiomeric
excess and excellent exo/endo selectivity is presented. The key to
success is the intramolecular activation via hydrogen bonding through
an o-hydroxy group, which allows the dipolar cycloaddition
to take place in the presence of azomethine ylides bearing only one
activating group. The intramolecular hydrogen bond in the azomethine
ylide and the intermolecular hydrogen bond with the catalyst have
been demonstrated by DFT calculations and mechanistic proofs to be
crucial for the reaction to proceed.

Abstract
AbstractThe interplay and synergistic cooperation between homogeneous and heterogeneous catalyst systems is of utmost importance in nature. It is also applied in chemical synthesis. Here, it can allow for new reactivity, which is not possible by the employment of a single catalyst, and promote the catalysis of multiple transformations in a one-pot sequence. This could overall lead to novel reactions and the development of sustainable chemistry. In this context, a versatile and broad synergistic strategy for the selective synthesis of valuable molecules with variable complexity and under eco-friendly conditions is disclosed. It is based on integrated heterogeneous metal/organo multiple relay catalysis, which is performed in a single reaction vessel, and allows for the assembly of complex molecules (e.g., heterocycles and carbocycles) with up to three quaternary stereocenters in a highly enantioselective fashion from simple alcohols and air/O2.

Abstract
A squaramide catalysed aza-Michael/Michael cascade reaction between nitroalkenes and tosylaminomethyl enones or enoates afforded highly functionalized chiral pyrrolidines in good yields (up to 99%) with good diastereoselectivities (up to 91 : 9 dr) and excellent enantioselectivities (up to >99% ee) under mild conditions.
