Abstract
The substitution of fluorine atoms for oxygen atoms/hydroxyl groups has emerged as a promising strategy to enhance the physical and chemical properties of oxides/hydroxides in fluorine chemistry. However, distinguishing fluorine from oxygen/hydroxyl in the reaction products poses a significant challenge in existing characterization methods. In this study, we illustrate that terahertz (THz) spectroscopy provides a powerful tool for addressing this challenge. To this end, we investigated two fluorination reactions of boric acid, utilizing MHF2 (M=Na, C(NH2)3) as fluorine reagents. Through an interplay between THz spectroscopy and solid-state density functional theory, we have conclusively demonstrated that fluorine atoms exclusively bind with the sp3-boron but not with the sp2-boron in the reaction products of Na[B(OH)3][B3O3F2(OH)2] (NaBOFH) and [C(NH2)3]2B3O3F4OH (GBF2). Based on this evidence, we have proposed a reaction pathway for the fluorinations under investigation, a process previously hindered due to structural ambiguity. This work represents a step forward in gaining a deeper understanding of the precise structures and reaction mechanisms involved in the fluorination of oxides/hydroxides, illuminated by the insights provided by THz spectroscopy.

Abstract
With the increasing relevance of organophosphorus fluorine compounds in the pharmaceutical industry, their synthesis has attracted great attention. Herein, we report an efficient fluorination strategy for P(O)-H and P(O)-OH compounds using sulfuryl fluoride as the fluorination reagent. Avoiding the use of expensive or complex prepreparation reagents for fluoridation, this strategy could conveniently construct a variety of fluorophosphonates and phosphonofluoridates under mild conditions and without additional oxidants.

Abstract
The strongly oxidizing, powerful electrophilic fluorination reagent [FXe][OTf] is shown to effect direct oxidative monofluorination of sulfoxides. This one-step, chloride promoter-free methodology provides access to so far inaccessible, yet highly desirable strongly Lewis acidic fluorosulfoxonium cations from electron-deficient and/or sterically demanding sulfoxides that are shown to be practically unreactive towards the previously reported XeF2 /NEt4 Cl system. Experimental and density functional theory studies have been conducted to assess the Lewis acidities of the prepared sulfur(VI) cations. Preliminary results obtained with chiral sulfoxides provide early insights into the mechanism of these fluorination reactions.

Abstract
We leveraged the recent increase in synthetic accessibility of SF5 Cl and Ar-SF4 Cl compounds to combine chemistry of the SF5 and SF4 Ar groups with strain-release functionalization. By effectively adding SF5 and SF4 Ar radicals across [1.1.1]propellane, we accessed structurally unique bicyclopentanes, bearing two distinct elements of bioisosterism. Upon evaluating these "hybrid isostere" motifs in the solid state, we measured exceptionally short transannular distances; in one case, the distance rivals the shortest nonbonding C⋅⋅⋅C contact reported to date. This prompted SC-XRD and DFT analyses that support the notion that a donor-acceptor interaction involving the "wing" C-C bonds is playing an important role in stabilization. Thus, these heretofore unknown structures expand the palette for highly coveted three-dimensional fluorinated building blocks and provide insight to a more general effect observed in bicyclopentanes.

Abstract
We report a method for the synthesis of carbamoyl fluorides from secondary amines using bench-stable, inexpensive, and readily accessible starting materials that, when combined, yield a surrogate for toxic difluorophosgene (COF2) gas. In contrast to state-of-the-art methods for the synthesis of carbamoyl fluorides, our protocol does not require the use of pre-functionalized substrates, the preparation of light-, temperature-, and/or moisture-sensitive chemicals, or the application of explosive fluorinating reagents.

Abstract
The oxidation of [(Cp’’’Co)2(μ,η2 : η2‐E2)2] (E=As (1), P (2); Cp’’’=1,2,4‐tri(tert‐butyl)cyclopentadienyl) with halogens or halogen sources (I2, PBr5, PCl5) was investigated. For the arsenic derivative, the ionic compounds [(Cp’’’Co)2(μ,η4 : η4−As4X)][Y] (X=I, Y=[As6I8]0.5 (3 a), Y=[Co2Cl6‐nIn]0.5 (n=0, 2, 4; 3 b); X=Br, Y=[Co2Br6]0.5 (4); X=Cl, Y=[Co2Cl6]0.5 (5)) were isolated. The oxidation of the phosphorus analogue 2 with bromine and chlorine sources yielded the ionic complexes [(Cp’’’Co)2(μ‐PBr2)2(μ‐Br)][Co2Br6]0.5 (6 a), [(Cp’’’Co)2(μ‐PCl2)2(μ‐Cl)][Co2Cl6]0.5 (6 b) and the neutral species [(Cp’’’Co)2(μ‐PCl2)(μ‐PCl)(μ,η1 : η1‐P2Cl3] (7), respectively. As an alternative approach, quenching of the dications [(Cp’’’Co)2(μ,η4 : η4‐E4)][TEF]2 (TEF=[Al{OC(CF3)3}4]−, E=As (8), P (9)) with KI yielded [(Cp’’’Co)2(μ,η4 : η4‐As4I)][I] (10), representing the homologue of 3, and the neutral complex [(Cp’’’Co)(Cp’’’CoI2)(μ,η4 : η1‐P4)] (11), respectively. The use of [(CH3)4N]F instead of KI leads to the formation of [(Cp’’’Co)2(μ‐PF2)(μ,η2 : η1 : η1‐P3F2)] (12) and 2, thereby revealing synthetic access to polyphosphorus compounds bearing P−F groups and avoiding the use of very strong fluorinating reagents, such as XeF2, that are difficult to control.

Abstract
In synthetic method development, the most rewarding path is seldom a straight line. While our initial entry into pentafluorosulfanyl (SF5) chemistry did not go according to plan (due to inaccessibility of reagents such as SF5Cl at the time), a “detour” led us to establish mild and inexpensive oxidative fluorination conditions that made aryl‐SF5 compound synthesis more accessible. The method involved the use of potassium fluoride and trichloroisocyanuric acid (TCICA)—a common swimming pool disinfectant—as opposed to previously employed reagents such as F2, XeF2, HF, and Cl2. Thereafter, curiosity led us to explore applications of TCICA/KF as a more general approach to the synthesis of fluorinated Group 15, 16, and 17 heteroatoms in organic scaffolds; this, in turn, prompted SC‐XRD, VT‐NMR, computational, and physical organic studies. Ultimately, it was discovered that TCICA/KF can be used to synthesize SF5Cl, enabling SF5 chemistry in an unexpected way.

Abstract
An efficient triphenylphosphine oxide-catalyzed amidation and esterification for the rapid synthesis of a series of dipeptides, amides, and esters is described. This reaction is applicable to challenging couplings of hindered carboxylic acids with weakly nucleophilic amines or alcohols, giving the products in good yields (67-90%) without racemization. This system employs the highly reactive intermediate Ph3PCl2 as the activator of the carboxylate in a catalytic manner and drives the reaction to completion in a short reaction time (less than 10 min).
