Abstract
A new eco-friendly approach for the preparation of sustainable heterogeneous palladium catalysts from rice husk-derived biogenic silica (RHP-Si and RHU-Si). The designed heterogeneously supported palladium species (RHP-Si-NH2-Pd and RHU-Si-NH2-Pd) were fully characterized and successfully employed as catalysts for various chemical transformations (C-C bond-forming reactions, aerobic oxidations and carbocyclizations). Suzuki-Miyaura transformations were highly efficient in a green solvent system (H2O:EtOH (1:1) with excellent recyclability, providing the cross-coupling products with a wide range of functionalities in high isolated yields (up to 99%). Palladium species (Pd(0)-nanoparticles or Pd(II)) were also efficient catalysts in the green aerobic oxidation of an allylic alcohol and a co-catalytic stereoselective cascade carbocyclization transformation. In the latter case, a quaternary stereocenter was formed with excellent stereoselectivity (up to 27:1 dr).

Abstract
A new Ni(ii)-α-diimine-based porous organic polymer, namely Ni(ii)-α-diimine-POP, was constructed in high yield via the Sonogashira coupling reaction between the metallo-building block of Ni(ii)-α-diimine and 1,3,5-triethynylbenzene. Besides the high thermal and chemical stability, the obtained Ni(ii)-α-diimine-POP can be a highly active reusable heterogeneous catalyst to promote the Suzuki–Miyaura coupling reaction. The obtained results indicate that the Ni(ii)-α-diimine-POP herein is a promising sustainable alternative to the Pd-based catalysts for catalysing the C–C formation in a heterogeneous way. A porous organic polymer with Ni(ii) α-diimine moiety, which can be a highly active reusable heterogeneous catalyst to promote the Suzuki–Miyaura coupling reaction, was reported.![]()

Abstract
An easy access to a series of previously unreported heterodinuclear Pd-Ln compounds, Pd-bpydc-La, Pd-bpydc-Ce and Pd-bpydc-Nd (bpydc = 2,2'-bipyridine-5,5'-dicarboxylate) has been developed. The Pd-Ln hybrid networks were effectively applied as catalysts in Suzuki⁻Miyaura C-C cross-coupling reactions of 4-bromoanisole and 4-bromobenzonitrile with phenylboronic acid, under mild conditions. A systematic investigation revealed Pd-bpydc-Nd as the most active catalyst. In all cases, reaction yields varied with the base, catalyst loading and substantially augmented with temperature (from 30 to 60 °C). Substituent effects were operative when changing from 4-bromoanisole to 4-bromobenzonitrile. The key role played by the lanthanides, aromatic substrate and base, in modulating the Pd-catalytic cycle has been highlighted. Importantly, the new catalysts proved to be stable in air and vs. functionalities and are quite efficient in Suzuki⁻Miyaura carbon-carbon bond formation conducted in protic solvents.
