Abstract
To study the amine-imine tautomeric alteration through excited state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT), three amine-functionalized metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have been synthesized by using two different metal ions and neutral linkers along with same ESIPT-enable anionic linker through the slow diffusion process. All the MOFs have 2D structure with asymmetric units of {[Mn(2,6-dip)(2-atp)](H2O)(CH3OH)}n (1), {[Mn(3,5-dip)(2-atp)](solvent)x}n (2) and {Zn2(3,5-dip)2(2-atp)(μ2-O2-)](solvent)x}n (3) (where 2,6-dip=2,6-di(1H-imidazol-1-yl)pyridine, 3,5-dip=3,5-di(1H-imidazol-1-yl)pyridine, 2-atp=2-amino terephthalic acid). The 2D networks of desolvated form of compound 1, 2, and 3 show water influencing proton transfer for amine-imine tautomerism in excited state through the ionic interaction with water molecules to the frameworks. However, in case of polar small chain aliphatic alcohols like methanol, ethanol and isopropanol; the compounds do not show any dual emissive ESIPT but exhibit three different intensified single peaks for each of the compounds. This different emission intensity in presence of different alcohols are helpful to detect these alcohols selectively. In addition to that in case of all three compounds, the water assisted-ESIPT is interrupted by some strong oxidizing agents like CrO4 2-, Cr2O7 2- and MnO4 - ions. This phenomenon allows the method of detection for the aforesaid oxidizing ions in water by interruption of the dual emissive fluorescence.

Abstract
Amino acids and dipicolinic acid (DPA) are important biomarkers for identifying human health. Establishing rapid, accurate, sensitive, and simple assays is essential for disease prevention and early diagnosis. In this work, a novel Zn(II) metal-organic framework (MOF) with the formula {[Zn5(μ3-OH)2(BTDI)2(dpp)2]·dpp·4H2O·2DMF}n (JXUST-53, where JXUST denotes Jiangxi University of Science and Technology, H4BTDI = 5,5'-(benzo[c][1,2,5]thiadiazole-4,7-diyl)diisophthalic acid; dpp = 1,3-di(4-pyridyl)propane) was successfully synthesized via a mixed-ligands strategy. JXUST-53 exhibits a three-dimensional (4,10)-connected deh1 topological structure, which remains stable after soaking in aqueous solutions with different pH values (1-12) and organic solvents for at least 24 h, showing high chemical and pH stability. As a potential fluorescence sensor, JXUST-53 can specifically recognize l-threonine (l-Thr), l-histidine (l-His), and DPA in EtOH solutions through fluorescence enhancement and a blue-shift effect. It is worth noting that JXUST-53 is the first MOF-based fluorescence sensor capable of recognizing l-Thr. In addition, the university logo of JXUST with JXUST-53 deposited on it was printed by aerosol jet printing technology, enabling a portable and convenient method for monitoring DPA. More importantly, JXUST-53 has good biocompatibility and low cytotoxicity to sense l-Thr, l-His, and DPA in living cells.

Abstract
Stable viologen-derived multifunctional smart materials exhibit widespread practical applications in many areas. In this study, a viologen-derived material with 4-fold interpenetrating diamondoid network, {[Cd(1,4-ndc)(cpbpy)]·2H2O}n, was successfully constructed based on asymmetrical N-(3-carboxyphenyl)-4,4'-bipyridinium (cpbpy) and 1,4-naphthalenedicarboxylic acid (1,4-H2ndc). The compound shows reversible photochromic behavior under a xenon lamp, which are proved by UV-vis spectra and EPR characterizations. Moreover, the compound with good photoluminescence properties displays photocontrolled luminescence quenching behaviors. Owing to its good water stability, the compound is then applied in luminescence sensing for the detection of Cr2O72- in aqueous solution. The corresponding luminescence quenching constant for Cr2O72- is KSV = 4.33 × 104 M-1, and the detection limit is 3.66 μM. Systematic investigations on the luminescence quenching mechanism suggest that the inner filter effect resulted in the selective detection of Cr2O72-. This study provides inspiration for the design and synthesis of target luminescent crystalline materials with rigid and asymmetric viologen-derived ligands.

Abstract
The highly luminescent complex [CdQ2(H2O)2] (1) shows ultra-selectivity and high sensitivity to the explosive organo-toxin trinitrophenol (TNP). This detection is extremely fast with a high quenching constant (5.3 × 104 M-1) and a very low limit of detection (LOD) of 137 nM/59 ppb. This motivated us to detect the lethal carcinogenic arsenical drug roxarsone (ROX), which is reported here for the first time. The quenching constant and LOD for ROX using 1 were found to be 4.9 × 104 M-1 and 86 nM (or 37 ppb), respectively. Moreover, the probe also recognizes three lethal toxic oxo-anions (MnO4-, Cr2O72- and CrO42-) with outstanding quenching constant (2.2 × 104 M-1, 1.4 × 104 M-1 and 1.1 × 104 M-1) and very low LODs (141 nM/61 ppb, 178 nM/78 ppb and 219 nM/95 ppb). Compared to the previously reported homogeneous sensing nature of the discrete complexes, our complex showed the detection of toxic pollutants in a heterogeneous manner, which results in high recyclability and hence multi-cycle sensing capability. Interestingly, 1 shows the possibility for real-time monitoring through naked eye detection by visible colorimetric changes in solid, solution and strip paper methods, i.e., triphasic detection ability. In addition, the sensor also exhibited the cross-sensing ability for these pollutants. The experimental sensing mechanism is strongly supported by the exhaustive theoretical investigation. Based on the fluorescence signal shown by each analyte, an integrated AND-OR logic gate is constructed. Furthermore, the sensing ability of 1 remains intact towards the detection of versatile real field samples including lethal carcinogenic arsenical drug roxarsone in the real food sample.

Abstract
Hydrothermal treatment of m-phenylenediamine and grape seed powder has been adopted to synthesize nitrogen-doped carbon quantum dots (N-CQDs). The prepared N-CQDs possessed outstanding optical properties and high quantum yield. Based on the combined effect of static quenching effect and inner filter effect of permanganate (MnO4 - ) to N-CQDs and the redox reaction that occurred between MnO4 - and l-ascorbic acid (l-AA), an 'off-on' fluorescence strategy with N-CQDs has been proposed for the detection of MnO4 - and l-AA. The proposed fluorescent probe was fast, sensitive and selective to MnO4 - and l-AA under mild conditions. In addition, the satisfactory results of the proposed strategy for the detection of MnO4 - and l-AA in real samples indicated its practicability.

Abstract
Crystalline coordination networks with an infinite extended framework, also known as coordination polymers (CPs) or metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), have attracted significant attention owing to their tremendous performance in an extensive range of applications. The unique structural features and high stability of coordination networks are responsible for their utilization and potential in diverse fields especially in the area of sensing using luminescent CPs/MOFs. The recognition of toxic oxo-anions present in water is a crucial and first step towards environmental remediation, mainly in the case of water pollution. Accordingly, the utilization of luminescent coordination networks has received significant interest, particularly for the recognition of various toxic oxo-anions, which are considered a threat to aquatic life and the environment. In this frontier article, we summarize recent reports on luminescent CPs/MOFs, their utilization for the sensing of oxo-anions and the chemistry of the interaction of oxo-anions with CPs/MOFs, which is responsible for tuning their optical signals.

Abstract
Three metal-organic frameworks {[Cd(L)(glu)]⋅3 H2 O}∞ (1), {[Cd2 (L)2 (adi)2 ]⋅5 H2 O}∞ (2) and {[Cd(L)(sub)]⋅3 H2 O⋅DMA }∞ (3) (L=pyridine-3,5-bis(5-azabenzimidazole), H2 glu=glutaric acid, H2 adi=adipic acid and H2 sub=suberic acid) were obtained under solvothermal conditions. Complex 1 shows a 2D (4,4) network constructing of Cd2 -glu and Cd-L chains. Complex 2 presents a 2-fold interpenetrating 3D framework with pcu topology. Complex 3 is a 3D framework with cds topology. Three complexes with versatile structures were obtained by changing aliphatic dicarboxylate ligands with different lengths based on a N-rich ligand. Moreover, the fluorescence measurements indicate that complex 1 is a good multifunctional chemosensor for the detection of Cr2 O7 2- and MnO4 - anions by fluorescence quenching effect, and ethylenediamine by fluorescence enhancement effect, with detection limits of 1.196 ppm, 0.551 ppm and 64.572 ppm, respectively. Both complexes 2 and 3 can selectively sense Cr2 O7 2- anion with detection limits of 1.126 ppm for 2 and 0.831 ppm for 3 by a fluorescence quenching effect.
