Abstract
The combination of commercially available FeCl3·6H2O with a water-soluble cationic 2,2′-bipyridyl catalytic system was found to enable the direct conjugate addition of aryl iodides onto activated alkenes, such as an α,β-unsaturated ester and a ketone, in a weakly acidic aqueous solution. This operationally simple protocol was carried out at 80 °C under air atmosphere in a potassium acetate-buffered aqueous solution for 12 h in the presence of Zn dust as a reductant to provide the desired 1,4-adducts in good yields.

Abstract
The Mizoroki-Heck reaction is one of the most studied palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions, representing a powerful method for forming C-C bonds between diverse substrates with broad functional group compatibility. However, the reductive variant has received considerably less attention. In this Review, we summarize distinct mechanistic aspects of the reductive Heck reaction, highlight recent contributions to the field, and discuss potential applications of the reductive Heck reaction in the pharmaceutical industry. With the potential to have a large impact in both academic and industrial settings, further development of the reductive Heck reaction is a promising area of future investigation.

Abstract
In this work, an unprecedented synthesis of (2 H-chromen-2-ylidene)acetates and (2 H-chromen-2-ylidene)ethanones with controlled stereoselectivity via Pd-catalyzed cascade reactions of 3-(2-(2,2-dibromovinyl)phenoxy)acrylates or 3-(2-(2,2-dibromovinyl)phenoxy)enones with aryl boronic acids has been established. This protocol combines two C-C bond forming reactions (an intermolecular Suzuki coupling followed by an intramolecular Heck coupling) in one pot under the catalysis of the same catalyst. Compared with literature methods for the preparation of 2 H-chromene derivatives, it has advantages such as easily obtainable or commercially available substrates, diverse substitution pattern of products, simple procedure, and excellent stereoselectivity. Interestingly, this cascade reaction could distinguish the subtle difference of the electron-withdrawing capacity and the size of various functional groups and thus resulted in a different chemoselectivity. In addition, the utility of the (2 H-chromen-2-ylidene)acetate thus obtained was showcased by its facile transformation into the synthetically and photophysically significant 3 H-xanthen-3-one derivative.

Abstract
We developed a Pd-catalyzed intermolecular reductive Heck reaction to construct Csp2-Csp3 bonds between aryl bromides and olefins. Various styrene derivatives, acyclic and cyclic alkenes, were well tolerated to couple with varied aryl bromides in linear selectivity. Kinetic and deuterium labeling experiments suggested that i-PrOH provides a hydride through β-H elimination.

Abstract
Palladium-catalyzed dual strategies of cascade cyclocarbopalladation/cross-coupling of alkynes and a reductive Heck reaction have been developed to construct dibenzo[c,f]oxocine frameworks with tri- and tetra-substituted exo-cyclic alkenes with high stereo- and regio-control.
