Abstract
Conventional cyclometalation of calix[4]arene bis(aryltriazoles) with iridium(III) chloride hydrate leads to unique meso architectures in which the Ir2Cl2 core is cross-bound by two (C^N)2 ligands, which allows further replacement of the chloride bridges with ancillary ligands while maintaining the dinuclear structures of the complexes having independent or coupled iridium pairs.

Aza-crown compounds synthesised by the self-condensation of 2-amino-benzyl alcohol over a pincer ruthenium catalyst and applied in the transfer hydrogenation of ketones. Abstract
A well-defined PNN-Ru catalyst was revisited to self-condense 2-aminobenzyl alcohol in forming a series of novel aza-crown compounds [aza-12-crown-3 (1), aza-16-crown-4 (2) and aza-20-crown-5 (3)]. All aza-crown compounds are separated and determined by NMR, IR, and ESI-MS spectroscopy as well as X-ray crystallography, indicating the saddle structure of 1 and the twisted 1,3-alternate conformation structure of 3. These aza-crown compounds have been explored to study ferric initiation of transfer hydrogenation (TH) of ketones into their corresponding secondary alcohols in the presence of 2-propanol with a basic t-BuOK solution, achieving a high conversion (up to 95%) by a ferric complex with 2 in a low loading (0.05 mol%).

Abstract
The functionality of p-sulfonatocalix[4]arenes can be easily extended using the propargylation/CuAAC reaction sequence, which allows the introduction of up to four substituted triazole units to the narrow rims of the macrocycles while maintaining their cone shapes and water solubility and, thus, biomedical applicability.

Abstract
Reaction of calixarene oligo(azides) with alkynes taken in deficiency lead selectively to oligo(triazoles) under Cu(i) catalysis. Same azides react with alkynes intramolecularly under copper-free conditions forming 1,5-substituted triazole bridges.

Abstract
A large series of narrow-rim 4-R-1-triazolated calix[4]arenes was prepared, and these compounds were compared in terms of their cation-binding ability with the ‘inverted’ 1-R-4-triazolated calix[4]arenes.

Abstract
An efficient three-step synthesis of a novel family of enantiomerically pure isocyanides derived from β3-isocyanopropionic acids was elaborated. Easily available N-formylated α-amino acids were used as starting materials towards this aim. The 3-step sequence (Arndt-Eistert reaction-Wolff rearrangement-dehydration) resulted in target isonitriles in good yields (up to 97%). As a result a new family of isocyanides bearing a fragment of β3-amino acids with different functional groups (amides, esters and short peptides) was obtained. It was demonstrated that these new isonitriles can be used in the Ugi and Passerini reactions to prepare short peptides and depsipeptides having a β-amino acid fragment incorporated.
