Abstract
Trifluoromethylselenolation of arenes with [Me4N][SeCF3] in the presence of an oxidant through Pd-catalyzed C(sp2)-H activation under the assistance of a directing group is established for the first time. The reaction tolerates different directing groups and a variety of functional groups, enabling selective installation of a SeCF3 moiety onto the ortho positions of arenes. Mechanistic studies revealed that the CF3SeSeCF3 intermediate in situ generated from oxidation of [Me4N][SeCF3] might be the real SeCF3 reagent in the reaction.

Abstract
An oxidative copper-mediated double trifluoromethylselenolation of terminal 2-alkynylanilines using [(bpy)CuSeCF3]2 is reported, providing a moderately efficient and convenient approach to 2,3-bis(trifluoromethylseleno)indoles. Mechanistic studies show that a cascade sequence of oxidation, trifluoromethylselenolation, 5-endo-dig cyclization, and elimination is involved in this transformation.

Abstract
The synthesis of trifluoromethylselenolated aromatic molecules via an auxiliary-assisted, palladium catalyzed, C-H bonds functionalization with trifluoromethyl tolueneselenosulfonate as reagent is described. The mono- or bis-products can be preferentially formed. Some mechanistic investigations were realized to better understand the reaction. This methodology was also extended to fluoroalkylselenyl groups.

Abstract
For many years since its discovery, Selenium has played the role of a bad boy who became a hero in organic transformations. Selenium dioxide, for instance, is one of the most remembered reagents in allylic oxidations, having been applied in the synthesis of several naturally occurring products. The main goal of this review is to show the recent advances in the use of classical and new selenium reagents in organic synthesis. As demonstrated through around 60 references discussed in this study, selenium can go even forward as a versatile reagent. We bring a collection of selenium reagents and their transformations that are still hidden from most synthetic organic chemists.

Abstract
Herein the nucleophilic addition of Se-(trifluoromethyl) 4-methylbenzenesulfonoselenoate, a stable and easy-to-handle reagent, to alkynes is described. This reaction provides trifluoromethylselenylated vinyl sulfones with good results and the method was extended also to higher fluorinated homologs. The obtained compounds are valuable building blocks for further syntheses of fluoroalkylselenolated molecules.

Abstract
The direct fluoroalkylselenolation of terminal alkynes is reported herein involving shelf stable electrophilic reagents TsSeRF . The use of these reagents allows for the first time performing the reaction under catalytic conditions (copper/ligand). Moreover, the presence of oxygen directing groups allows the selective addition of the reagents to alkynes, therefore yielding a new family of vinyl sulfones.

Abstract
Trifluoromethylselenylated compounds are emergent compounds with interesting physicochemical properties that still suffer from a lack of efficient synthetic methods. We recently developed an efficient one-pot strategy to generate in situ CF3SeCl and use it in various reactions. Herein, we continue our study of the reactivity scope of this preformed reagent. Cross-coupling reactions with aromatic and heteroaromatic boronic acids have been investigated. The expected products have been obtained, using a stoichiometric amount of copper, with moderate yields.

Abstract
Trifluoromethylseleno substituent (CF3Se) is an emerging group, but its direct introduction onto organic molecules is still quite limited and mainly restricted to nucleophilic methods. Herein, we describe a new approach to easily and safely perform electrophilic trifluoromethylselenolation starting from a simple and easily accessible reagent, namely, benzyltrifluoromethyl selenide. This strategy can be generalized to various fluoroalkylselanyl groups, even functionalized ones.
