Abstract
Pyridine and pyrimidine derivatives have received great interest in recent pharmacological research, being effective in the treatment of various malignancies, such as myeloid leukemia, breast cancer and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. Most of the FDA approved drugs show a pyridine or pyrimidine core bearing different substituents. The aim of this review is to describe the most recent reports in this field, with reference to the newly discovered pyridineor pyrimidine-based drugs, to their synthesis and to the evaluation of the most biologically active derivatives. The corresponding benzo-fused heterocyclic compounds, i.e. quinolines and quinazolines, are also reported.

Abstract
A gold catalyzed enantioselective [3+2] dipolar cycloaddition of N-allenyl amides with nitrones was developed to give chiral 4-alkylidenyl isoxazolidine derivatives in high yields and excellent enantioselectivities by using BINOL derived chiral phosphoramidate Au(I) catalysts.

Abstract
Gold(I) catalyzed [3+2] cycloaddition of azomethine imines with N-allenyl amides was developed to provide two types of pyrazolyl based bicyclic heterocycles. Both pyrazolidin-3-one derived and dihydroisoquinoline derived azomethine imines reacted smoothly with N-allenyl amides to give 6-methylene bipyrazolidin-1-ones and 1-methylene hexahydropyrazolo[5,1-a] isoquinolines in moderate to good yields.

Abstract
In recent decades, nucleosides analogs have been the cornerstone in the treatment of various diseases, such as AIDS, herpes and hepatitis. More than 40 modified nucleosides are officially approved by the US FDA and represent the major compound class for inhibition of viral replication. By comparison with traditional conditions, microwave irradiation offers a powerful tool that can increase yields and decrease reaction time, with simple manipulation and an environmentally friendly way. Here, we report the latest progress in nucleoside synthesis using microwave irradiation.
