Abstract
Dioxinone derivatives, a class of acetoacetate derivatives, have attracted widespread attention because of their multiple reactive sites, high reactivity, unique chemical properties, and potential synthetic applications. The dioxinone group is also stable under a wide range of reaction conditions, including strong acids, as well as a variety of transition-metal-catalysed processes, such as olefin metathesis and Pd-mediated cross-coupling. The inherent reactivity and diverse applications of dioxinones make them valuable reactive intermediates in organic synthesis. The conversion of dioxinones to acylketenes and their subsequent nucleophilic capture is also an excellent strategy for synthesising β-keto acid derivatives, which can be applied even in complex molecular synthesis. This review focuses on the recent advances in the application of dioxinones in synthetic method research and the total synthesis of natural products, highlighting the exceptional utility of these synthetic methodologies in the construction of macrocyclic cores and terpenoid skeletons. In particular, successful transformations of dioxinone fragments are discussed.

Abstract
Three double D-π-A sensitizers (A1, A3, and A5) containing different donors (triphenylamine, methoxy-modified triphenylamine, and cyclic thiourea-functionalized triphenylamine) are synthesized to investigate the role of different donors in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). Detailed investigations of the sensitizers reveal that the spatial characteristics of donor units have a considerable impact on the light-harvesting, electrochemistry, and photovoltaic properties. Benefiting from the strong shielding ability of alkyl chains in the donor to its branch chains as observed in density functional theory (DFT), the open-circuit voltage (VOC = 712.0 mV) of A5-based DSSC is higher than those of A1 and A3 by 90 and 78 mV, respectively. Therefore, the A5-based DSSC delivers a good efficiency of 8.54%, relying on its effective suppression of interfacial recombination. The results indicate that the judiciously tailored donor unit is an effective approach to optimize dye configurations to further improve power conversion efficiencies.

Abstract
This review summarizes the data published on the methods of preparation of β-
keto amides as a versatile synthon for many heterocyclic rings and asymmetric urea derivatives.
Based on the starting materials used for the synthesis of β-keto amides, eight
methods were reported including β-keto acids and their derivatives, Meldrum’s acid and
their derivatives, diketene, 2,6-dimethyl-1,3-dioxin-4-one derivatives (TMD), α-diazo ketones,
enamines and enolates, acetamides and their derivatives and reduction of certain
Passerini products.

Abstract
The generation and use of acyl ketenes under continuous flow reaction conditions is reported. Several reaction classes of these reactive intermediates have been studied. Under zero headspace conditions, a ketone exchange process is possible between volatile ketones. The process can be readily scaled to deliver gram quantities of product.

Abstract
A two-step synthesis to prepare tricoordinate organoboron compounds bearing three different aryl groups has been developed. After the first aryl substitution to an aryl boronic ester took place, the intermediate species, that is, bis(diarylborinate) species, was isolated as an air- and moisture-stable solid, which allowed the second aryl substitution to carry out in a selective manner. Subsequently, a series of unsymmetrical triarylboranes possessing a sterically bulky aryl group, triarylamine moiety, and para-functionalized phenyl ring was synthesized. Not only did these triarylboranes exhibit remarkable solvent-dependent fluorescence as expected for donor-π-acceptor (D-π-A) systems, they were also accompanied by profound persistence against photoirradiation especially for that bearing a 1,3,5-tri- tert-butylphenyl ring. This survey exemplifies that sufficient electronic and steric modification is key to construct photostable D-π-A type triarylborane-based fluorophores.
