Abstract
Herein, we report the in situ-generated transient bromoiodane-mediated brominative annulation of 2-alkynyl arylimidate for the synthesis of 4-bromoisoquinolines at room temperature. Using a simple hypervalent iodine reagent PIDA as a mild oxidant and potassium bromide as the halogen source, a broad range of valuable 4-bromoisoquinolines can be synthesized in excellent yields. The reaction features readily available chemicals, mild metal-free conditions, and high functional group tolerance, providing an efficient alternative for the construction of halogenated isoquinolines.

Abstract
An efficient and rapid protocol for the oxidative halogenation of tryptamines with 10 % aqueous NaClO has been developed. This reaction is featured by its operational simplicity, metal-free conditions, no purification, and high yield. Notably, the resulting key intermediates are suitable for further functionalization with various nucleophiles, including amines, N-aromatic heterocycles, indoles and phenols. The overall transformation exhibits broad functional-group tolerance and is applicable to the late-stage functionalization of complex biorelevant molecules.

Abstract
Palladium-catalyzed C-H activation reactions have attracted the attention of organic researchers due to their unique high selectivity, broad functional group tolerance, and high efficiency, and they are widely used in natural products and asymmetric synthesis. Here, we report an example of enantioselective C-H alkenylation between β-alkyl phenylethylamine compounds and styrenes with Boc-L-lle-OH as the ligand and nosylamide as the directing group. This reaction is applicable to styrene containing various electron-deficient and electron-donating substitutions and may be utilized for the synthesis of benzoazepine compounds.

Abstract
We developed the hypoiodite-catalyzed tandem dearomative peroxycyclization of homotryptamine derivatives to peroxytetrahydropyridoindolenines under mild conditions. During the course of a mechanistic study, we found that a tandem oxidative cyclization/epoxidation as an unexpected reaction proceeded in the presence of TEMPO as an additive. Intramolecular oxidative aminocyclization of homotryptamines at the C-2 position would give tetrahydropyridoindole, a common intermediate for both reactions. Control experiments suggested that while oxidative coupling with TBHP at the C-3 position might afford peroxyindolenines, a preferential electrophilic addition of TEMPO+, which might be generated in situ by the hypoiodite-catalyzed oxidation of TEMPO, at C-3 position followed by elimination and epoxidation might give epoxyindolenines. This serendipitous finding prompted us to develop a chemoselective divergent synthesis of peroxy- and epoxyindolenines by simple modification of the reaction conditions.

Abstract
A novel palladium-catalyzed [2 + 2 + 1] annulation of alkyne-tethered aryl iodides with diaziridinone was developed, leading to the formation of 3,4-fused tricyclic indoles. From a mechanistic standpoint, the formation of fused tricyclic indole scaffolds involved C,C-palladacycles, which were synthesized through the intramolecular reaction of aryl halides and alkynes. The cascade reaction described herein could be carried out with a broad range of substrates and provided various 3,4-fused tricyclic indoles with yields up to 98%.

Abstract
A variety of appropriately substituted internal alkynes were transformed into the corresponding cyano-substituted phenanthrenes, dihydronaphthalenes, and cyclohepta-1,3,5-trienes in moderate to excellent yields by treatment with imidazolium thiocyanate 1, which serves as an easy to handle [CN]+ precursor, in the presence of BCl3. The synthetic value of the method is additionally demonstrated by the transformation of the primarily obtained products into heavily substituted quinolines. Additionally, the dynamic properties of the prepared dibenzocyclohepta-1,3,5-trienes have been investigated.

Abstract
An efficient and controllable protocol for the synthesis of 3-chloro- and 3,3-dichloro-2-oxindoles has been developed via hypervalent iodine-promoted chlorooxidation. By using two equivalents of 1-chloro-1,2-benziodoxol-3-(1H)-one, a wide range of indoles were transformed into 3-chloro-2-oxindoles in DMF/CF3CO2H/H2O at room temperature with good yields. As far as we know, this is the first report on the selective C-2 oxidation and C-3 monochlorination of simple indoles. In addition, three equivalents of the same hypervalent iodine afforded 3,3-dichloro-2-oxindoles in up to 99% yields under optimized conditions (dioxane/H2O, 80 °C). The method features mild reaction conditions, the widespread availability of the substrates, and good functional group tolerance.

Abstract
The synthesis of 5-(cyano)dibenzothiophenium triflate 9, prepared by activation of dibenzo[b,d]thiophene-5-oxide with Tf2 O and subsequent reaction with TMSCN is reported, and its reactivity as electrophilic cyanation reagent evaluated. The scalable preparation, easy handling and broad substrate scope of the electrophilic cyanation promoted by 9, which includes amines, thiols, silyl enol ethers, alkenes, electron rich (hetero)arenes and polyaromatic hydrocarbons, illustrate the synthetic potential of this reagent. Importantly, Lewis acid activation of the reagent is not required for the transfer process. We additionally report herein biomimetic cyanocyclization cascade reactions, which are not promoted by typical electrophilic cyanation reagents, demonstrating the superior ability of 9 to trigger challenging transformations.
