A disposable electrochemical sensor based on single-walled carbon nanotubes for the determination of anticancer drug dasatinib

Dasatinib is an anticancer drug that treats acute lymphoblastic leukemia, chronic myelogenous leukemia, and prostate cancer with several side effects. In this research, we suggest nanoparticle-modified screen-printed electrodes (SPCEs) as disposable electrochemical sensors for fast quantification of dasatinib in pharmaceutical formulations. Carbon nanotubes, single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNT), graphene, and graphene oxide-modified SPCEs were characterized by scanning electron microscopy. The study also recommends SWCNT-modified SPCEs as the best-performing electrode for determining dasatinib, demonstrating an excellent boosting effect on the oxidation response of dasatinib. This was accomplished using the square-wave voltammetry method. After optimization of the pH condition, pH 5.0 Britton–Robinson buffer, SWCNT-modified SPCEs demonstrated 94% recovery with optimum electro-oxidation activity. The oxidation currents exhibited linear relation with dasatinib concentration in the 0.1–100 µM. Based on the results, a limit of detection of 0.06 µM was obtained in the standard solution. The SWCNT-modified SPCEs have been applied to analyze dasatinib in pharmaceutical tablet samples. The demonstrated performance beats all comparable standard analytical tools and presumably may be used for general drug quantitation in pharmaceutical tablets.

Sensitive recognition of prostate specific antigen using biotinylated antibody encapsulated on D-penicillamine decorated wrinkled silicate nanoparticles (WSN): An innovative sandwich type biosensor towards diagnosis of prostate cancer

In this study, a new sandwich type biosensor was developed to specific recognition of prostate specific antigen (PSA) and early-stage diagnosis of prostate cancer using encapsulation of biotinylated antibody (Ab1) of prostate specific antigen on D-penicillamine decorated wrinkled silicate nanoparticles (WSN). For the first time, KCC-1-NH-DPA was synthesized and used to immobilization of biomacromolecules. So, fabricated immunosensor was performed by on sandwich type strategy. After fabrication of immunosensor, cyclic voltammetry, differential pulse voltammetry, and square wave voltammetry techniques were used to electrochemical evaluation of immune-platform for PSA detection. The proposed biocompatibility immune-platform provided a novel interface towards sensitive bioanalysis of PSA biomarker in human plasma samples. Due to the use of gold nanoparticles functionalized Cysteamine (Cys A) in the structure of the secondary antibody (Ab2 [HRP-Ab2]), the intensity of the electrochemical signal has increased, resulting in a more accurate detection of the target molecules. Under the right conditions, the engineering immunosensor provides good bioanalytical performance for determining the PSA biomarker in the linear range of 0.002 to 60 μg. L^-1 which low limit of quantification was 0.002 μg. L^-1 . As a result, it is suggested to use this immune-devices in the clinical pre-diagnosis of prostate cancer. Performance of chitosan polymer as platform during sensors fabrication and sensing applications

Chitosan is an important polymer produced from deacetylation of several sea and insects crusts. Due to its environmental fate and biological biocompatibility, it can be used in several biological and environmental applications. Sensing of biological compounds in human bodies and also in serum, blood, and different body fluids has found an important application instead of direct determination of the body fluids using complicated tools. Sensing process of biological compounds during bio-analysis of the biological systems, especially human fluids lack of several parameters including: high sensitivity, repeatability, speed of analysis and biocompatibility of the used analytical methods, especially in-vivo analysis. That was due to the time between sample handling and sample determination can change various components and concentrations of the bio-compounds. The need for in-situ analysis was directed the researchers for biosensors to overcome the upgrading problems of bio-analysis. Biosensors were the future of this issue. Chitosan can reserve as great platform for fabrication of different sensors to determine the elements, compounds and body bioactive compounds. The presence of different terminal amino and hydroxyl groups within chitosan framework facilitates the immobilization of different biomarkers to be used as sensing elements for the determined compounds. The use of chitosan as sensors platform was enhanced by using chitosan in its nanoforms.
