Abstract
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most common form of hepatic malignancy, with high mortality rates recorded globally. Early detection through clinical biomarkers, medical imaging and histological assessment followed by rapid intervention are integral for positive patient outcomes. Although contrast-enhanced computed tomography scans and magnetic resonance imaging are recognised as the reference standard for the diagnosis and staging of HCC in international guidelines, ultrasound (US) examination is recommended as a screening tool for patients at risk. Contrast-enhanced US (CEUS) elevates the standard of an US examination using US contrast agents (UCAs), capable of diagnosing focal liver lesions with high efficacy. Most UCAs are purely intravascular, offering clinicians a dynamic representation of a lesions' arterial phase vascular kinetics, which is seldom seen in such detail during computed tomography or magnetic resonance imaging assessments. Despite its benefits, there is incongruity between international societies on the role of CEUS in the HCC clinical pathway. The transient nature of pure blood-pool agents is suggested to be insufficient to justify CEUS as a primary modality due to the inability to consistently perform whole liver imaging, alongside disputes regarding its capabilities to differentiate HCC from intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma. A sinusoidal phase UCA affords clinicians the opportunity to perform whole liver imaging through Kupffer cell uptake in addition to visualising lesion vascular kinetics in the arterial and portal venous phases. Therefore, the purpose of this review was to examine the role of CEUS in the HCC clinical pathway in its current practice and observe how a Kupffer cell sinusoidal phase UCA may supplement contemporary diagnostic techniques through a multi-modality, multi-agent approach.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Granulomatous mastitis (GM) is an inflammatory breast condition with high recurrence risk, often complicating management. Existing imaging techniques provide limited predictive insight. This study aims to analyze the correlation between contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) features and the risk of GM recurrence, developing a predictive model. METHODS A retrospective review included 510 patients diagnosed with GM from 2017 to 2022, divided into non-recurrence (non-recurrence, n=389) and recurrence (recurrence, n=121) groups. CEUS was conducted to assess lesion perfusion and enhancement patterns. Key features such as isoenhancement and perfusion defects were analyzed. Correlation analyses, ROC, univariate, and multivariate analyses informed the predictive model construction using XGBoost. External validation was performed to confirm model reliability. RESULTS CEUS features like homogeneous (rho=0.137, P=0.002) and heterogeneous isoenhancement (rho=0.134, P=0.002) showed significant correlations with recurrence risk. Perfusion defects (rho=0.127, P=0.004) and not smooth edge lines of defects (rho=0.234, P<0.001) were also associated. The predictive model, integrating CEUS patterns, achieved an area under the curve (AUC) of 0.822, indicating strong predictive validity. External validation confirmed the model's efficacy (AUC=0.808). CONCLUSION CEUS imaging reveals specific vascular and enhancement patterns that correlate with the risk of GM recurrence, providing critical diagnostic and prognostic value.

Abstract
ABSTRACT Sonazoid is a new ultrasound contrast agent with unique Kupffer phase imaging advantages and high mechanical index stability. This paper introduces the basic theories and advantages of Sonazoid ultrasound. Then, the application and latest advances of Sonazoid in the diagnosis and treatment of liver diseases are reviewed in detail. In addition, the advantages and disadvantages of Sonazoid ultrasound and its future directions are discussed. Sonazoid is expected to become an important tool for clinical ultrasound diagnosis and treatment.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The aim of this study was to assess the ability of the modified contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) Liver Imaging Reporting and Data System (LI-RADS) to distinguish malignancy in patients without known hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) risk factors and compare diagnostic accuracy with that of the World Federation for Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology (WFUMB) guideline across radiologists with different levels of CEUS experience. METHODS A total of 848 individuals with no hepatitis infection presenting with 870 lesions in non-cirrhotic livers were included and divided into the Testing and Validation groups. The modified CEUS LI-RADS was proposed, including downgrading of focal nodular hyperplasia with typical features. Diagnostic performance of the modified CEUS LI-RADS was assessed in the Testing group. In the Validation group, two radiologists with more than 9 y of CEUS experience (Experts) and two radiologists with less than 6 mo of CEUS experience (Novices) used both the modified CEUS LI-RADS and the WFUMB guideline to evaluate performance in diagnosis of the lesions. RESULTS LR-5 + M (combination of modified LR-5 and modified LR-M) revealed optimal performance with a sensitivity, specificity and area under the curve (AUC) of 99.3%, 81.6% and 0.904, respectively. Novices using the modified CEUS LI-RADS outperformed those using the WFUMB guideline (AUC: 0.858 vs. 0.767, p = 0.005). Additionally, the sensitivity, specificity and AUC of Novices were comparable to those of Experts using the modified CEUS LI-RADS (94.1%, 77.6% and 0.858 vs. 96.1%, 77.6% and 0.868 for experts, respectively). CONCLUSION The modified CEUS LI-RADS is a valuable method for distinguishing hepatic malignancy in patients without HCC risk factors. This is particularly beneficial for radiologists with limited CEUS expertise.

Abstract
BACKGROUND No studies have been retrieved comparing perfluorobutane with sulfur hexafluoride for microwave ablation (MWA) in small hepatocellular carcinoma(sHCC). OBJECTIVE To retrospective investigate the value of perfluorobutane ultrasonography contrast agent in ultrasonography (US)-guided MWA of sHCC. METHODS We conducted a retrospective clinical controlled study about US-guided percutaneous MWA in patients with sHCC, and in patients undergoing intra-operative treatment with perfluorobutane or sulfur hexafluoride. In both groups, a contrast agent was injected to clear the tumor and then a needle was inserted. A 5-point needle prick difficulty score was developed to compare needle prick difficulty in the two groups of cases. RESULTS A total of 67 patients were included: 25 patients in group perfluorobutane, aged 41-82 (60.64±9.46), tumor size 1.1-2.8 (1.78±0.45) cm. 42 patients in group sulfur hexafluoride, aged 38-78 (62.26±9.27), with tumor size of 1.1-3.0 (1.89±0.49) cm. There was no significant difference in age or tumor size in both groups (P > 0.05). Puncture difficulty score (5-point): 2.0-2.7 (2.28±0.29) in group perfluorobutane, and 2.0-4.7 (2.95±0.85) in group sulfur hexafluoride, and the difference between the two groups was statistically significant (P < 0.05). Enhanced imaging results within 3 months after surgery: complete ablation rate was 100% (25/25) in the group perfluorobutane, 95.2% (40/42 in the group sulfur hexafluoride), with no significant difference between the two groups (P > 0.05). CONCLUSION Perfluorobutane kupffer phase can make the operator accurately deploy the ablation needle and reduce the difficulty of operation.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) features of adrenal lesions are poorly reported in veterinary literature. METHODS Qualitative and quantitative B-mode ultrasound and CEUS features of 186 benign (adenoma) and malignant (adenocarcinoma and pheochromocytoma) adrenal lesions were evaluated. RESULTS Adenocarcinomas (n = 72) and pheochromocytomas (n = 32) had mixed echogenicity with B-mode, and a non-homogeneous aspect with a diffused or peripheral enhancement pattern, hypoperfused areas, intralesional microcirculation and non-homogeneous wash-out with CEUS. Adenomas (n = 82) had mixed echogenicity, isoechogenicity or hypoechogenicity with B-mode, and a homogeneous or non-homogeneous aspect with a diffused enhancement pattern, hypoperfused areas, intralesional microcirculation and homogeneous wash-out with CEUS. With CEUS, a non-homogeneous aspect and the presence of hypoperfused areas and intralesional microcirculation can be used to distinguish between malignant (adenocarcinoma and pheochromocytoma) and benign (adenoma) adrenal lesions. LIMITATIONS Lesions were characterised only by means of cytology. CONCLUSIONS CEUS examination is a valuable tool for distinction between benign and malignant adrenal lesions and can potentially differentiate pheochromocytomas from adenocarcinomas and adenomas. However, cytology and histology are necessary to obtain the final diagnosis.

Abstract
Contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) is one of the important imaging modalities for diagnosis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Sonovue and Sonazoid are the third-generation of ultrasound contrast agents that have been commercialized and widely used in clinical applications. This study introduces the imaging differences between these two agents in vascular phases for the first time. A 54-year-old man clinical suspected liver cancer. He had chronic hepatitis B for more than 20 years. The result of alpha-fetoprotein was 36.45μg/L (normal< 20μg/L). The imaging pattern of CEUS with Sonovue was “fast-in and fast-out” performance, while the pattern of “fast-out” was absent after portal phase with Sonazoid, even in Kupffer phase. The lesion was diagnosed as lipid-rich HCC by contrast-enhanced MRI. After liver resection, pathology revealed that it was hepatocellular carcinoma contained poor-differentiated steatohepatitis subtype and moderate-differentiated microtrabecular subtype. The imaging difference mainly existed in the part of steatohepatitis subtype. Steatohepatitis subtype HCC can be showed as “fast-in and no wash-out” characteristic in Sonazoid CEUS. Though the mechanism remains not fully clarified, this different enhancing pattern may provide a potential for the supplement of the guidelines and differential of steatohepatitis subtype HCC.

Abstract
Sentinel lymph node biopsy has been regarded as the standard procedure for early staging breast cancer. One of the key steps is to locate the sentinel lymph node (SLN). The recommended method is the joint use of blue dye and radioisotope. However, due to radionuclide radiation and high cost, it is urgent to develop more convenient and sensitive imaging methods to accurately locate SLN. This article discusses the advancement of accurately locating SLN by isotope tracer imaging, magnetic tracer method, computed tomographic lymphography, and trans-lymphatic contrast-enhanced ultrasound, as well as proposing new propose for clinical diagnosis.

Abstract
The aim of the present study was to investigate the imaging features observed in pre-operative Sonazoid contrast-enhanced ultrasound (SZ-CEUS) and the correlations with the presence of microvascular invasion (MVI) in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients. In this single-center retrospective study, 31 patients with surgically and histopathologically confirmed HCC lesions were included. Patients were classified according to the presence of MVI into the MVI-positive group (n = 15) and MVI-negative group (n = 16). The CEUS examinations were performed within 2 or 3 d before surgery. Features, including tumor necrosis and ultrasound contrast agent (UCA) distribution characteristics in the arterial phase (AP), tumor types (single nodular [SN] or non-single nodular [non-SN]) in the post-vascular phase (PVP), wash-in time, wash-in slope, time to peak (TTP) and peak intensity (PI), were assessed. Univariate analysis revealed statistically significant differences between the two groups with respect to tumor necrosis (p = 0.002), inhomogeneous distribution of contrast agent in the AP (p = 0.001) and non-SN type in the PVP (p < 0.001). There was no significant difference in the quantitative parameters. Multivariate analysis revealed that non-SN type in the PVP was a significant independent risk factor for MVI of HCC (odds ratio = 30.51, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 2.335-398.731, p = 0.009). The area under the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve (AUC), sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value (PPV) and negative predictive value (NPV) were 0.873, 93.3%, 81.3%, 82.4% and 92.9%, respectively. Thus, SZ-CEUS can provide useful information for the diagnosis of MVI in HCC.
