Abstract
The escalating diabetes prevalence has heightened interest in innovative therapeutic strategies for this disease and its complications. Human amniotic epithelial stem cells (HAESCs), originate from the innermost layer of the placenta closest to the fetus and express stem cell markers in the amniotic membrane's umbilical cord attachment area, which have garnered significant attention. This article critically examines emerging research advancements and potential application values of hAESCs in treating diabetes and its complications. Initially, we will discuss the characteristics, origin, and advantages of hAESCs in differentiating into insulin-secreting cells. Subsequently, we will focus on the potential applications of hAESCs in treating diabetes complications such as diabetic retinopathy, diabetic nephropathy, and diabetic neuropathy, etc. We will scrutinize the progress of relevant clinical studies and trials involving hAESC therapy. In conclusion, as an emerging diabetes treatment method, hAESCs exhibit immense potential and application value. Despite numerous challenges in practical application, we are confident that with scientific advancement and technological progress, hAESCs will play a pivotal role in treating diabetes and its related complications.

Abstract
Glycation-induced stress (G-iS) is a physiological phenomenon that leads to the formation of advanced glycation end-products, triggering detrimental effects such as oxidative stress, inflammation, and damage to intracellular structures, tissues, and organs. This process is particularly relevant because it has been associated with various human pathologies, including cancer, neurodegenerative diseases, and diabetes. As therapeutic alternatives, coordination compounds with antioxidant activity show promising potential due to their versatility in attenuating oxidative stress and inflammation. Herein, we investigated the antioxidant-related protective potential of a series of complexes: [Cu(II)(BMPA)Cl2] (1), [Fe(III)(BMPA)Cl3] (2), and [Cl(BMPA)MnII-(μ-Cl)2-MnII(BMPA)-(μ-Cl)- MnII(BMPA)(Cl)2]•5H2O (3), all synthesized with the ligand bis-(2-pyridylmethyl)amine (BMPA) in Saccharomyces cerevisiae exposed to G-iS caused by methylglyoxal (MG). Pre- treatment with complexes 1-3 proved highly effective, increasing yeast tolerance to G-iS and attenuating mitochondrial dysfunction. This observed phenotype appears to result from a reduction in intracellular oxidation, lipid peroxidation levels, and glycation. Additionally, an increase in the activity of the antioxidant enzymes superoxide dismutase and catalase was observed following treatment with complexes 1-3. Notably, although complexes 1-3 provided significant protection against oxidative stress induced by H2O2 and menadione, their protective role was more effective against MG-induced glycation stress. Our results indicate that these complexes possess both antiglycation and antioxidant properties, warranting further investigation as potential interventions for mitigating glycation and oxidative stress-related pathologies.

Abstract
This study explored the association between diabetes, cognitive imFpairment (CI), and mortality in a cohort of 2931 individuals aged 60 and above from the 2011 to 2014 NHANES. Mortality data was gathered through 2019, and multivariable Cox proportional hazards models were used to determine the association between diabetes, CI, and mortality adjusting for sociodemographic characteristics, lifestyle factors, and comorbidity conditions. The study spanned up to 9.17 years, observing 579 deaths, with individuals having both diabetes and CI showing the highest all-cause mortality (23.6 events per 100 patient-years). Adjusted analysis revealed a 2.34-fold higher risk of all-cause mortality for this group, surpassing those with diabetes or CI alone. These results held after a series of stratified and sensitivity analyses. In conclusion, CI was linked to higher all-cause mortality in individuals with diabetes, emphasizing the need to address cognitive dysfunction in diabetic patients.

Abstract
Aim To determine the experiences and needs of palliative care in patients with advanced Parkinson's disease (PD). Methods A scoping literature review methodology, as described by the Joanna Briggs Institute, was employed to search for relevant literature. An electronic search of studies published in English was conducted across five databases from inception to 10 September 2023. Results The search yielded a total of 1,205 articles, with 20 meeting the inclusion criteria. The findings were organized into four themes: (1) unmet emotional and informational needs; (2) needs for effective coordination of care; (3) planning for the future; and (4) symptom management. This scoping review highlights the intricate nature of palliative care for patients with PD and sheds light on issues within current palliative care healthcare systems. The findings emphasize the necessity for individualized interventions and services to address the diverse unmet palliative care needs of people with PD. Conclusion The study reveals the complex landscape of palliative care for individuals with advanced PD, emphasizing the inadequacies within existing healthcare systems. The identified themes underscore the importance of tailored interventions to address the varied unmet palliative care needs of this population.
