Abstract
New reactions of benzyl phosphine oxide/sulfide with oxalyl chloride are presented. The resulting reactive intermediates, acyl chloride-substituted chlorophosphonium ylides, are capable of undergoing esterification and Friedel-Crafts acylation reactions, ultimately yielding either methyl 2-(2-bromophenyl)-2-(diphenylphosphoryl)acetate or β-carbonyl-diarylphosphine oxide derivatives. Additionally, when an alkynyl group is contained in the acyl chloride-substituted chlorophosphonium ylide, intramolecular cyclization occurs, leading to the formation of a pair of trans- and cis-dichlorophosphonyl benzofulvene isomers. The generation process of acyl chloride-substituted chlorophosphonium ylide was carefully monitored by using 31P{1H} NMR spectroscopy, and a plausible reaction mechanism was proposed.

Synthesis and Optical Properties of a Novel Hybrid Nanosystem Based on Covalently Modified nSiO 2 Nanoparticles with a Curcuminoid Molecule. NANOMATERIALS (BASEL, SWITZERLAND) 2024; 14:1022. Abstract
A new curcuminoid molecule (3) has been designed and synthesized, containing a central -(CH2)2-COOH chain at the α carbon of the keto-enol moiety in the structure. The carboxylic acid group is added to react with exposed amino groups on silica oxide nanoparticles (nSiO2), forming an amide bond to attach the curcuminoid moiety to the nSiO2 covalently. The Kaiser test quantifies the functionalization degree, yielding 222 μmol of curcuminoid per gram of nanoparticles. The synthesized hybrid nanosystem, nSiO2-NHCO-CCM, displays significant emission properties, with a maximum emission at 538 nm in dichloromethane, similar to curcuminoid 1 (without the central chain), which emits at 565 nm in the same solvent. Solvent-induced spectral effects on the absorption and emission bands of the new hybrid nanosystem are confirmed, similar to those observed for the free curcuminoid (1). The new nanosystem is evaluated in the presence of kerosene in water, showing an emission band at 525 nm as a detection response. The ability of nSiO2-NHCO-CCM to change its fluorescence when interacting with kerosene in water is notable, as it overcomes the limitation caused by the insolubility of free curcuminoid 1 in water, allowing for the exploitation of its properties when connected to the water-stable nanosystem for future detection studies.

Abstract
Due to over worldwide use of frying oil, and due to its oxidation and deterioration after the usage for short time, huge oil amounts are wasted. So, most attempts are aimed to increase oil stability. Quercetin is a common name for the lipophobic strong natural phenolic antioxidant 2-(3,4-Dihydroxyphenyl)-5,7-dihydroxy-4H-1-benzopyran-4-one. Thus, its solubility had been improved by converting it to a lipophilic compound via its appending to a fatty acid residue. So, regioselectively 2-(3,4-Dihydroxyphenyl)-5,7-dihydroxy-3-[Hexadecanyl]oxychromen-4-one commonly named as (Quercetin-3-palmitate) was synthesized. The formed compound was confirmed based on its elemental analysis and spectral data (IR, 1H NMR and MS). The partition coefficient of Quercetin-3-palmitate in octanol/water (k) was determined and compared to that of palmitic acid and quercetin individually to prove its solubility enhancement. Its radical scavenging activity was then tested. The effect of this new antioxidant compound on the oil stability was studied through the frying process. All physical and chemical parameters of this oil were considered before and after the frying process compared to another reference antioxidant (TBHQ) and control sample. The safety of this compound was determined by acute oral toxicity using albino mice. The liver and kidney functions of these mice were also examined. The results showed non-significant change. A sensory evaluation of the fried potato chips has been done. The results showed that the properties of the potato chips were improved by adding Quercetin-3-palmitate to the oil. Thus, good protection against frying oils oxidation was achieved via the addition of Quercetin-3-palmitate. The Quercetin-3-palmitate effectiveness is mainly attributed to its stability at high temperatures. Moreover, Quercetin-3-palmitate was found to be a safe compound according to an acute lethal toxicity test. Consequently, it can be used as a food additive.

Abstract
Chlorine plays a central role for the industrial production of numerous materials with global relevance. More recently, polychlorides have been evolved from an area of academic interest to a research topic with enormous industrial potential. In this minireview, the value of trichlorides for chlorine storage and chlorination reactions are outlined. Particularly, the inexpensive ionic liquid [NEt3 Me][Cl3 ] shows a similar and sometimes even advantageous reactivity compared to chlorine gas, while offering a superior safety profile. Used as a chlorine storage, [NEt3 Me][Cl3 ] could help to overcome the current limitations of storing and transporting chlorine in larger quantities. Thus, trichlorides could become a key technique for the flexibilization of the chlorine production enabling an exploitation of renewable, yet fluctuating, electrical energy. As the loaded storage, [NEt3 Me][Cl3 ], is a proven chlorination reagent, it could directly be employed for downstream processes, paving the path to a more practical and safer chlorine industry.

Abstract
Herein, a novel long wavelength monostyryl BODIPY derivative (BDZ-1) has been synthesized by rational design and used to detect oxalyl chloride, a highly reactive and harmful chemical to humans and other living organisms, with high sensitivity and selectivity. The purple solution of BDZ-1 changed to pink color immediately upon the addition of oxalyl chloride and the weak red fluorescence changed to strong orange fluorescence simultaneously. In addition, the practicability of BDZ-1 was further explored by using a smartphone application, allowing the sensitive and selective on-site detection of oxalyl chloride.

Abstract
The carbonyl group forms an integral part of several drug molecules and materials; hence, synthesis of carbonylated compounds remains an intriguing area of research for synthetic and medicinal chemists. Handling toxic CO gas has several limitations; thus, using safe and effective techniques for in or ex situ generation of carbon monoxide from nontoxic and cheap precursors is highly desirable. Among several precursors that have been explored for the generation of CO gas, chloroform can prove to be a promising CO surrogate due to its cost-effectiveness and ready availability. However, the one-pot chloroform-based carbonylation reaction requires strong basic conditions for hydrolysis of chloroform that may affect functional group tolerability of substrates and scale-up reactions. These limitations can be overcome by a two-chamber reactor (COware) that can be utilized for ex situ CO generation through hydrolysis of chloroform in one chamber and facilitating safe carbonylation reactions in another chamber under mild conditions. The versatility of this "Chloroform-COware" technique is explored through palladium-catalyzed aminocarbonylation of medicinally relevant heterocyclic cores, viz., isoquinoline and quinoline.

Abstract
Curcumin shows a broad spectrum of activities of relevance in the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease (AD); however, it is poorly absorbed and is also chemically and metabolically unstable, leading to a very low oral bioavailability. A small library of hybrid compounds designed as curcumin analogues and incorporating the key structural fragment of piperlongumine, a natural neuroinflammation inhibitor, were synthesized by a two-step route that combines a three-component reaction between primary amines, β-ketoesters and α-haloesters and a base-promoted acylation with cinnamoyl chlorides. These compounds were predicted to have good oral absorption and CNS permeation, had good scavenging properties in the in vitro DPPH experiment and in a cellular assay based on the oxidation of dichlorofluorescin to a fluorescent species. The compounds showed low toxicity in two cellular models, were potent inductors of the Nrf2-ARE phase II antioxidant response, inhibited PHF6 peptide aggregation, closely related to Tau protein aggregation and were active against the LPS-induced inflammatory response. They also afforded neuroprotection against an oxidative insult induced by inhibition of the mitochondrial respiratory chain with the rotenone-oligomycin A combination and against Tau hyperphosphorylation induced by the phosphatase inhibitor okadaic acid. This multitarget pharmacological profile is highly promising in the development of treatments for AD and provides a good hit structure for future optimization efforts.

Abstract
The structure and spectroscopy of the anion of oxalyl chloride are investigated using photoelectron imaging experiments and ab initio modeling. The photoelectron images, spectra, and angular distributions are obtained at 355 and 532 nm wavelengths. The 355 nm spectrum consists of a band assigned to a transition from the ground state of the anion to the ground state of the neutral. Its onset at ∼1.8 eV corresponds to the adiabatic electron affinity (EA) of oxalyl chloride, in agreement with the coupled-cluster calculations predicting an EA of 1.797 eV. The observed vertical detachment energy, 2.33(4) eV, is also in agreement with the theory predictions. The 532 nm spectrum additionally reveals a sharp onset near the photon-energy limit. This feature is ascribed to autodetachment via a low-energy anionic resonance. The results are discussed in the context of the substitution series, which includes glyoxal, methylglyoxal (single methyl substitution), biacetyl (double methyl substitution), and oxalyl chloride (double chlorine substitution). The EAs and anion detachment energies follow the trend: biacetyl < methylglyoxal < glyoxal ≪ oxalyl chloride. The electron-donating character of the methyl group has a destabilizing effect on the substituted anions, reducing the EA from glyoxal to methylglyoxal to biacetyl. In contrast, the strong electron-withdrawing (inductive) power of Cl lends additional stabilization to the oxalyl chloride anion, resulting in a large (∼1 eV) increase in its detachment energy compared to glyoxal.

Abstract
For the first time, hybrid molecules were synthesized on the basis of lithocholic and (5Z,9Z)-1,14-tetradeca-5,9-dienedicarboxylic acids, obtained in two stages using the homo-cyclomagnesiation reaction of 2-(hepta-5,6-diene-1-yloxy)tetrahydro-2H-pyran at the key stage. The resulting hybrid molecules containing 5Z,9Z-dienoic acids are of interest as novel synthetic biologically active precursors to create modern drugs for the treatment of human oncological diseases. The synthesized hybrid molecules were found to exhibit extremely high in vitro inhibitory activity against human topoisomerase I, which is 2-4 times higher than that of camptothecin, a known topoisomerase I inhibitor. Using flow cytometry and fluorescence microscopy, it was first shown that these new molecules are efficient apoptosis inducers in HeLa, U937, Jurkat, K562, and Hek293 cell cultures. In addition, the results of investigations into the effect of the synthesized acids on mitochondria and studies of possible DNA damage in Jurkat tumor cells are also presented.

Abstract
Oxalyl chloride is one of the most versatile reagents used in organic synthesis. Oxalyl chloride was employed in the convenient one-pot, two-step synthesis of the fungus-derived naturally occurring lipoids: N,N'-dipalmitoleyl urea (C16:1) and N,N'-dioleyl urea (C18:1). The two symmetrical diacyl urea-based natural products were previously identified as fungus-specific pathogen-associated molecules (PAMs), which act as inflammatory mediators during fungal infection. The highly lipophilic natural lipoids were efficiently synthesized from commercially available reagents in yields ranging from good to very good.
