Update on MR Imaging of Soft Tissue Tumors of Head and Neck

This article reviews soft tissue tumors of the head and neck following the 2020 revision of WHO Classification of Soft Tissue and Bone Tumours. Common soft tissue tumors in the head and neck and tumors are discussed, along with newly added entities to the classification system. Salient clinical and imaging features that may allow for improved diagnostic accuracy or to narrow the imaging differential diagnosis are covered. Advanced imaging techniques are discussed, with a focus on diffusion-weighted and dynamic contrast imaging and their potential to help characterize soft tissue tumors and aid in distinguishing malignant from benign tumors.

Juxta-articular Myxoma of the Hip: A Rare Pediatric Tumor

Juxta-articular myxoma (JAM) is a very rare myxoid tumor in pediatric age. JAM is frequently located at large joints, particularly in the knee, and most lesions present as palpable swelling sometimes associated with pain or tenderness. Only three cases of pediatric JAM have been reported in the literature to date. We describe a case of JAM in a 12-year-old boy, characterized by several unique aspects related to age, site of onset, size, and associated symptoms.

Juxtaarticular Myxoma in a Pigtail Macaque (Macaca nemestrina)

A 10-y-old pigtail macaque presented with a subcutaneous, soft-tissue mass overlying the right stifle joint. Here we describe the clinical case and histopathologic and immunohistochemical analysis of this lesion. This case represents the first published report of juxtaarticular myxoma in a pigtail macaque.

Juxta-articular myxoma of the palm

We present a case of juxta-articular myxoma of the hand in a 63-year-old man with an enlarging mass over the palmar radial aspect of the index metacarpophalangeal joint. Usually seen in men, this benign soft tissue tumour is normally found around large joints. To our knowledge this is the first reported case in the hand.
