Abstract
OBJECTIVE To analyze the clinicopathological features of inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor retrospectively and help maxillofacial surgeons to improve their recognition of its early diagnosis and proper treatment. METHODS Data of 18 patients diagnosed with IMT in Nanjing Stomatological Hospital from November 2003 to July 2024 were collected. Their clinical, pathological, imaging features, treatment, and prognosis were analyzed. RESULTS Main clinical manifestations were local masses, 8 cases were accompanied with malignant signs such as pain. No obvious systemic symptoms were reported. Bone destructions were seen in 3 cases. Pathological examination showed that 12 cases were Type II IMT and 6 cases were Type I IMT. 15 cases underwent surgical resections and were followed up for at least 1 years without recurrence. CONCLUSIONS The clinical symptoms and imaging manifestations of head and neck IMT are not specific. It is necessary to diagnose IMT by biopsy before operation. Wide local excision is the most reliable treatment.

Abstract
Inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor (IMT) is a rare soft tissue tumor primarily occurring in the abdominopelvic region of young patients, and it is characterized by spindle-shaped myofibroblasts, or fibroblasts surrounded by inflammatory infiltrate. Herein, we report a case of a 24-year-old male with a firm submucosal mass in the anterior right vocal fold diagnosed as an IMT that recurred 14 months later. The tumor demonstrated a novel THBS1::ALK fusion containing Exons 1-7 of the thrombospondin 1 (THBS1) gene fused to Exon 19 of the anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) gene via next-generation sequencing with the NextSeq sequencer. The fusion of THBS1 to ALK potentially results in increased expression and constitutive activation of the ALK kinase domain. These findings not only broaden the repertoire of known ALK fusion partners implicated in tumorigenesis but also provide a novel avenue for investigating the etiology of recurrent IMT by considering this fusion event as a causal factor. To our knowledge, this is the second case of IMT of the larynx with this novel mutation reported in the literature and the first such case with a detailed description of this specific fusion and clinical recurrence.

Abstract
We report two cases of Intracranial inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor (IMT) with recurrent, cystic, and venous sinus occlusion. The cases show imaging progression from a small lesion (case 1) or absence of lesions (case 2). One of cases recurred 2 years after surgery and was treated with corticosteroids but the tumor was still growing and was resected again. We think the best treatment for IMT is surgical resection.

Abstract
This article reviews soft tissue tumors of the head and neck following the 2020 revision of WHO Classification of Soft Tissue and Bone Tumours. Common soft tissue tumors in the head and neck and tumors are discussed, along with newly added entities to the classification system. Salient clinical and imaging features that may allow for improved diagnostic accuracy or to narrow the imaging differential diagnosis are covered. Advanced imaging techniques are discussed, with a focus on diffusion-weighted and dynamic contrast imaging and their potential to help characterize soft tissue tumors and aid in distinguishing malignant from benign tumors.

Abstract
Oral inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor (IMT) is extremely rare and its manifestation as generalized gingival enlargement (GGE) has never been reported. We are reporting the case of 50-year-old female patient presenting with recurrent GGE for 4 years. Panoramic radiograph revealed severe bone loss in posterior sextants and root resorption in some teeth. Initial incisional biopsy was suggestive of chronic inflammatory infiltrate with fibrocollagenous tissue. Definitive treatment comprised of surgical excision of the enlarged gingiva with a tapering dose of steroid therapy. Histopathological and immunohistochemical examination from a repeat biopsy of deeper tissues was suggestive IMT. No recurrence was found at 2 years follow up. Recurrent GGE with advanced bone loss and external root resorption should raise the suspicion of a locally aggressive lesion. Dentists should be aware of oral IMT and include it in differential diagnosis of gingival enlargements for comprehensive management to avoid recurrence of the lesion.

Abstract
Inflammatory myofibroblastic tumors (IMTs) are rare in neonates. IMTs of the tongue are also very rare in infancy, with only 1 case reported in this age group. The mainstay of therapy has traditionally been surgery, which can be devastating to surrounding structures and negatively impact prognosis. Approximately 50% of IMTs harbor a translocation involving the anaplastic lymphoma kinase gene. We describe a case of IMT of the tongue in a neonate treated with debulking and an anaplastic lymphoma kinase inhibitor. The patient achieved complete response and remains disease-free 1.5 year following completion of therapy.

Abstract
Neural, sclerosing, and myofibroblastic lesions of the ear and temporal bone present diagnostic challenges for both clinicians and pathologists due to significant overlap in their clinical presentations, histologic appearances, and immunohistochemical profiles. While some of these lesions, such as schwannomas, are relatively common, others are rendered even more difficult because they are encountered very rarely in routine surgical pathology practice. This review is intended to provide an update on the pathology of some of the most commonly encountered primary diagnostic entities for the ear and temporal bone, and includes the following neural lesions: schwannoma, meningioma, and encephalocele/meningocele. Sclerosing lesions that will be discussed include spindle cell and sclerosing rhabdomyosarcoma, sclerosing epithelioid fibrosarcoma, and sclerosing paraganglioma. Finally, myofibroblastic lesions that will be reviewed are nodular fasciitis, IgG4-related disease, and solitary fibrous tumor. For each of these lesions, the differential diagnosis and useful ancillary tests will be discussed in the context of a broad range of additional primary and secondary lesions.

Abstract
Tumors of the pediatric facial skeleton represent a major challenge in clinical practice because they can lead to functional impairment, facial deformation, and long-term disfigurement. Their treatment often requires a multidisciplinary approach, and radiologists play a pivotal role in the diagnosis and management of these lesions. Although rare, pediatric tumors arising in the facial bones comprise a wide spectrum of benign and malignant lesions of osteogenic, fibrogenic, hematopoietic, neurogenic, or epithelial origin. The more common lesions include Langerhans cell histiocytosis and osteoma, while rare lesions include inflammatory myofibroblastic and desmoid tumors; juvenile ossifying fibroma; primary intraosseous lymphoma; Ewing sarcoma; and metastases to the facial bones from neuroblastoma, Ewing sarcoma, or retinoblastoma. This article provides a comprehensive approach for the evaluation of children with non-odontogenic tumors of the facial skeleton. Typical findings are discussed with emphasis on the added value of multimodality multiparametric imaging with computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) with diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI), positron emission tomography CT (PET CT), and PET MRI. Key imaging findings and characteristic histologic features of benign and malignant lesions are reviewed and the respective role of each modality for pretherapeutic assessment and post-treatment follow-up. Pitfalls of image interpretation are addressed and how to avoid them.

Abstract
Inflammatory pseudotumor (IP) is an uncommon idiopathic lesion that often imitates malignancy clinically and radiologically. Inflammatory pseudotumors have been found to occur in various sites but rarely in the head and neck. The histopathology, imaging, and treatment of three unique cases of head and neck inflammatory pseudotumors are described in this case series. Patients in Cases 1 and 2 presented with right level II neck mass and left parotid tail mass, respectively. The patient in Case 3 presented with otalgia, jaw pain and trismus, and a left parapharyngeal space mass. The tumors in Cases 1 and 3 significantly decreased in size with tapered courses of oral corticosteroids. The tumor in Case 2 was surgically excised without disease recurrence. Malignancy must be ruled out with incisional or excisional biopsy. Treatment includes surgical excision, oral corticosteroids, or both. The literature shows that radiotherapy and small-molecule inhibitors may be promising alternatives.

Abstract
Inflammatory pseudotumor is a generic term used to designate a heterogeneous group of inflammatory mass-forming lesions histologically characterized by myofibroblastic proliferation with chronic inflammatory infiltrate. Inflammatory pseudotumor is multifactorial in etiology and generally benign, but it is often mistaken for malignancy given its aggressive appearance. It can occur throughout the body and is seen in all age groups. Inflammatory pseudotumor has been described in the literature by many organ-specific names, resulting in confusion. Recently within this generic category of inflammatory pseudotumor, inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor has emerged as a distinct entity and is now recognized as a fibroblastic/myofibroblastic neoplasm with intermediate biological potential and occurring mostly in children. We present interesting pediatric cases of inflammatory myofibroblastic tumors given this entity's tendency to occur in children. Familiarity and knowledge of the imaging features of inflammatory pseudotumor can help in making an accurate diagnosis, thereby avoiding unnecessary radical surgery.

Abstract
PURPOSE We aimed to investigate the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) appearance of inflammatory myofibroblastic tumors (IMTs) in the maxillofacial region in order to improve diagnostic quality and resection efficacy. MATERIALS AND METHODS Ten cases of pathologically identified IMTs were analyzed by MRI. The MRI features were examined, including tumor location, tumor shape, tumor margins, and involvement of the surrounding tissues. RESULTS Of ten masses investigated in this study, eight masses were irregular neoplasms with unclear margins and two masses, in the parotid gland, were regular neoplasms with clear margins. Precontrast T1-weighted images of all ten masses exhibited isointense signals compared to the adjacent tissue, while contrast-enhanced T1-weighted images showed strong enhancement. Six masses were hypointense and four masses were slightly hyperintense in T2-weighted images. Involvement of the adjacent structures was observed in eight of ten cases. Meanwhile, two patients experienced intracranial involvement. CONCLUSION IMTs are rare tumors in the maxillofacial region, displaying a number of distinct MRI characteristics. Most importantly, they display low T2 signal intensity and strong enhancement, and they frequently invade surrounding structures. Thus, MRI can improve the accuracy of IMT diagnoses and provide critical information for surgical planning.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Inflammatory myoblastic tumors (IMTs) are rare, mesenchymal neoplasms most commonly located in areas of previous inflammation. In the temporal bone, these tumors typically present as solitary, space-occupying lesions that clinically resemble chronic otitis media. METHODS We present a case of bilateral IMTs with facial nerve involvement, sigmoid sinus thrombosis, leptomeningeal enhancement, and seizures. RESULTS/CONCLUSION This case demonstrates the need for a high index of suspicion of IMT when imaging reveals bilateral mastoid opacification. These tumors are more aggressive than their orbital counterparts and require multimodality therapy to prevent recurrence and alleviate severe neurotologic symptoms.

Abstract
Myofibroblastic sarcoma (MS) is a rare disease, which most frequently occurs in the head, neck and extremities. To the best of our knowledge, although a small number of studies have reported MS of the oral cavity, maxilla, tonsil, thyroid and tongue, MS of the liver and subsequent disabled liver function has not been previously reported. This study presents the case of a 38 year old female initially diagnosed and treated for a mass in the retroperitoneal region, who was subsequently diagnosed with MS of the liver three months following preliminary surgical treatment. The patient refused further treatment and was lost to follow-up three months after discharge from the hospital. Clinical, biochemical and imaging observations, as well as pathological manifestations of the patient in the present case are discussed with the aim of increasing the knowledge of MS of the liver.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor (IMT) and some types of immunoglobulin (Ig) G4-related disease are often involved in the spectrum of inflammatory pseudotumor (IPT) and the concept of IgG4-related IPT/IMT has recently been proposed. METHODS A 38-year-old man complained of initial symptoms of blurred vision and headache. RESULTS A tumor was found in the right mastoid, which caused occlusion of the right sigmoid sinus and intracranial hypertension. A diagnosis of IMT with IgG4+ plasma cell infiltration was established by surgical, pathological, and immunohistochemistry findings. His symptoms were completely relieved after corticosteroid therapy and no recurrence was detected during 22 months of follow-up. CONCLUSION A case with cerebral venous sinus infiltrated by IMTs in the head and neck has never been reported; corticosteroid therapy proved satisfactory in IMT with IgG4+ plasma cell infiltration.
