Abstract
Biomedicine has seen significant advancements in the 21st century, with platelet-rich plasma (PRP) playing a crucial role in clinical practice. This blood derivative, enriched with platelet components, has shown great potential for promoting tissue repair and regeneration. Its wide range of applications and the presence of anti-inflammatory and growth-promoting factors make it a valuable tool in the field of biomedicine. The exploration of PRP in clinical settings has been gaining momentum. Despite its cost-effectiveness, safety, and therapeutic efficacy, the widespread clinical adoption of PRP has been hindered by the absence of consistent preparation standards and standardized treatment protocols. This article provides a comprehensive analysis of the clinical uses, physiological roles, molecular mechanisms, and preparation techniques of PRP in biomedicine. The aim is to offer a thorough understanding of the potential applications and benefits of PRP in medical practice.

Han J, Yue L, Jia W, Li J, Liu Y, Zhu X. Local injection of platelet-rich plasma offers a new therapeutic option for the treatment of esophagotracheal fistula: a case report. Abstract
Esophagotracheal fistula (ETF), one of the most serious complications in the treatment of esophageal cancer, presents a complex management challenge. Early diagnosis and treatment are crucial to alleviate clinical symptoms and improve the quality of life of patients with ETF. The most commonly used method for treating ETF is esophageal stenting. However, because of the variable location and size of the fistula, stent placement alone sometimes fails to completely close the fistula, and complications such as fracture and displacement of the esophageal stent may occur. Therefore, safer and more effective methods for the treatment of ETF are required. In recent years, the application of bioactive factors to promote human tissue repair and wound healing has increased and achieved good therapeutic results. We herein describe a case in which we performed endoscopic injection of platelet-rich plasma directly into the ETF site and achieved a favorable outcome. This case suggests that local injection of platelet-rich plasma is a novel treatment modality for ETF.

Abstract
Enteric fistula (EF), a serious complication after abdominal surgery, refers to unnatural communication between the gastrointestinal tract and the skin or other hollow organs. It is associated with infection, massive fluid/electrolyte loss, and malnutrition, resulting in an unhealed course. Despite advances in surgical techniques, wound care, infection control, and nutritional support, EF remains associated with considerable morbidity and mortality. Autologous platelet-rich plasma (PRP) containing elevated platelet concentrations has been proposed to promote healing in many tissues. However, the mechanism of action of PRP in EF treatment remains unclear owing to its complicated clinical manifestations. In this review, we summarized the clinical approaches, outlined the principal cytokines involved in the healing effects, and discussed the advantages of PRP for EF therapy. In addition, we defined the mechanism of autologous PRP in EF management, which is essential for further developing EF therapies.
