Abstract
PURPOSE To assess the feasibility, acceptability, and effectiveness of an app-assisted self-management intervention for urinary incontinence (App-SMI-UI) in men with prostate cancer. METHODS We recruited men (n = 85) who had been diagnosed with prostate cancer and experienced urinary incontinence following radical prostatectomy. Participants were randomly assigned to the self-management group (n = 43) or the attrition control group (n = 42). The self-management group underwent a 12-week App-SMI-UI while the control group received a single session of multimedia dietary information. Data was collected at baseline, week 12, and week 16. The variables measured were cancer-related self-efficacy, urinary symptoms, social participation, demoralization, resilience, and satisfaction with the intervention. RESULTS Compared to the control group, the self-management group had fewer urinary symptoms and a higher willingness to engage in and satisfaction with social activity participation at week 12. By week 16, the self-management group exhibited higher cancer-related self-efficacy, greater participation in interpersonal relationship activities, and continued willingness to engage in and satisfaction with social activity participation. CONCLUSION The App-SMI-UI contributes to improving urinary symptoms, self-efficacy, and social participation among men with prostate cancer. Healthcare providers can use self-management programs to manage urinary incontinence and support prostate cancer men.

Abstract
BACKGROUND (1) The pelvic floor muscle training is an effective first choice intervention. BACKGROUND (2) Scarcity of studies describing the protocols of pelvic floor muscle training detail. BACKGROUND (3) There is no consensus between the instructions contained in the different protocols. OBJECTIVE to map pelvic floor muscle training protocols available in the literature for the management of post-prostatectomy urinary incontinence. METHOD this is a scoping review conducted in six databases. Information retrieval was performed using a specific instrument, including: title, authorship, year of publication, journal, objective, study design and description of the protocols' content. RESULTS a total of 24 studies were included, which resulted in different protocols. The most frequent recommendations were the following: three sessions per day; with a frequency of six to 15 contractions per session; performing the exercises in the lying, sitting, and standing positions. The most cited guidelines in the protocols were anal sphincter and bulbocavernosus muscle contractions. All protocols followed the principle of regular pelvic floor muscle contraction, but there was no consensus regarding the start of the protocol, treatment duration, contraction/relaxation time, and intensity of the contraction force. CONCLUSION different orientations were found in the pelvic floor muscle training protocols post-prostatectomy urinary incontinence, with emphasis on contraction time, relaxation time, number of contractions per session, training position, and protocol duration time. Different concepts were adopted to define urinary continence in the protocols. It is necessary to develop consensus guidelines that clearly define the parameters of training protocols.

Abstract
Prostate cancer affects one in nine men, so understanding patients' and their partners experiences is crucial for developing effective treatments. The purpose of this review was to synthesis and report the experiences and views of persons with prostate cancer and their partners. METHODS A qualitative evidence synthesis (QES) was conducted following the eMERGe reporting guideline. Six databases were searched for the relevant literature, and the Critical Appraisal Skills Program (CASP) tool was used for quality appraisal. RESULTS A total of 1372 papers were identified, and 36 met the inclusion criteria. Four themes emerged: quality of life, relationships and dynamics, treatment journey and survivorship and aftercare. CONCLUSIONS Prostate cancer's impact on patients and partners is significant, requiring comprehensive support, holistic care, tailored assistance, and research into therapies to minimize adverse effects and address emotional distress and relationship strain. Prostate cancer treatment causes physical changes, triggering feelings of loss and grief, and affects coping mechanisms. Drawing on emotional support and education is vital for boosting confidence and resilience, as many patients and partners face fears of recurrence and lifestyle changes, highlighting the need for tailored information and presurgery support.

Abstract
Purpose There is an increase in the number of men undergoing screening for prostate cancer, and advancements in treatments, which implies current knowledge about symptoms and self-management. This study aims to explore experiences of symptom distress, and self-management strategies during the first year after curatively intended treatment for prostate cancer, as identified by patients and health care professionals. Methods A qualitative design was used, including data triangulation from individual interviews with patients (n =17) and one focus group interview with healthcare professionals (n =5). Thematic analysis was used. Results The two main themes were identified: living with the consequences of treatment and navigating a new situation. Living with the consequences of treatment illustrated how losing control of bodily functions such as bladder, bowel, and sexual functions interfered with daily life. A stigma around the disease was described, and a life living in an unfamiliar body challenged ideas of masculinity. The first months after treatment ended was a distressing period related to the abruption in frequent contact with healthcare providers, and concerns about the future. The second theme, navigating a new situation, illustrates that self-management strategies varied, due to individual factors as did the need for tailored information and support provided from healthcare professionals and family, which was highly valued. Information and support were described as complex topics and healthcare professionals emphasized the need for appropriate education for staff to provide proper support to men after ended treatment. Conclusion Lingering symptoms and concerns were evident during the first year after treatment. Self-management strategies varied, and timely and tailored information and support during the first year were considered highly valued, important, and preferred by patients. Our results indicate that support should be offered immediately after curatively intended treatment.

Abstract
PURPOSE OF REVIEW Stress urinary incontinence after prostatectomy is a common and debilitating side effect. Immediate post-prostatectomy management emphasizes pelvic floor muscle exercises. Per American Urologic Association guidelines, if incontinence persists for more than 12 months postoperatively, surgical interventions are the mainstay of treatment. Treatment decisions depend on a multitude of factors. The goal of this paper is to review recent literature updates regarding the diagnosis of male SUI to better guide surgical treatment decision-making. RECENT FINDINGS Patient history is a critical component in guiding surgical decision making with severity and bother being primary factors driving treatment decisions. Recent studies indicate that a history of pelvic radiation continues to impact the overall duration and complication rate associated with artificial urinary sphincters (AUS). Cystoscopy should be done on every patient preparing to undergo surgical SUI treatment. Urodynamics and standing cough stress tests are additional diagnostic testing options; these tests may augment the diagnosis of SUI and better delineate which patients may benefit from a male sling versus AUS. Treatment of SUI after prostatectomy can improve health-related quality of life. A patient history focused on severity and degree of bother in addition to the use of ancillary office testing can help guide surgical treatment decisions to optimize patient continence goals.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Men may need to undergo prostate surgery to treat prostate cancer or benign prostatic hyperplasia. After these surgeries, men may experience urinary incontinence (UI). Conservative treatments such as pelvic floor muscle training (PFMT), electrical stimulation and lifestyle changes can be undertaken to help manage the symptoms of UI. OBJECTIVES To assess the effects of conservative interventions for managing urinary incontinence after prostate surgery. SEARCH METHODS We searched the Cochrane Incontinence Specialised Register, which contains trials identified from the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL), MEDLINE, MEDLINE In-Process, MEDLINE Epub Ahead of Print, ClinicalTrials.gov, WHO ICTRP and handsearched journals and conference proceedings (searched 22 April 2022). We also searched the reference lists of relevant articles. SELECTION CRITERIA We included randomised controlled trials (RCTs) and quasi-RCTs of adult men (aged 18 or over) with UI following prostate surgery for treating prostate cancer or LUTS/BPO. We excluded cross-over and cluster-RCTs. We investigated the following key comparisons: PFMT plus biofeedback versus no treatment; sham treatment or verbal/written instructions; combinations of conservative treatments versus no treatment, sham treatment or verbal/written instructions; and electrical or magnetic stimulation versus no treatment, sham treatment or verbal/written instructions. DATA COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS We extracted data using a pre-piloted form and assessed risk of bias using the Cochrane risk of bias tool. We used the GRADE approach to assess the certainty of outcomes and comparisons included in the summary of findings tables. We used an adapted version of GRADE to assess certainty in results where there was no single effect measurement available. MAIN RESULTS We identified 25 studies including a total of 3079 participants. Twenty-three studies assessed men who had previously undergone radical prostatectomy or radical retropubic prostatectomy, while only one study assessed men who had undergone transurethral resection of the prostate. One study did not report on previous surgery. Most studies were at high risk of bias for at least one domain. The certainty of evidence assessed using GRADE was mixed. PFMT plus biofeedback versus no treatment, sham treatment or verbal/written instructions Four studies reported on this comparison. PFMT plus biofeedback may result in greater subjective cure of incontinence from 6 to 12 months (1 study; n = 102; low-certainty evidence). However, men undertaking PFMT and biofeedback may be less likely to be objectively cured at from 6 to 12 months (2 studies; n = 269; low-certainty evidence). It is uncertain whether undertaking PFMT and biofeedback has an effect on surface or skin-related adverse events (1 study; n = 205; very low-certainty evidence) or muscle-related adverse events (1 study; n = 205; very low-certainty evidence). Condition-specific quality of life, participant adherence to the intervention and general quality of life were not reported by any study for this comparison. Combinations of conservative treatments versus no treatment, sham treatment or verbal/written instructions Eleven studies assessed this comparison. Combinations of conservative treatments may lead to little difference in the number of men being subjectively cured or improved of incontinence between 6 and 12 months (RR 0.97, 95% CI 0.79 to 1.19; 2 studies; n = 788; low-certainty evidence; in absolute terms: no treatment or sham arm: 307 per 1000 and intervention arm: 297 per 1000). Combinations of conservative treatments probably lead to little difference in condition-specific quality of life (MD -0.28, 95% CI -0.86 to 0.29; 2 studies; n = 788; moderate-certainty evidence) and probably little difference in general quality of life between 6 and 12 months (MD -0.01, 95% CI -0.04 to 0.02; 2 studies; n = 742; moderate-certainty evidence). There is little difference between combinations of conservative treatments and control in terms of objective cure or improvement of incontinence between 6 and 12 months (MD 0.18, 95% CI -0.24 to 0.60; 2 studies; n = 565; high-certainty evidence). However, it is uncertain whether participant adherence to the intervention between 6 and 12 months is increased for those undertaking combinations of conservative treatments (RR 2.08, 95% CI 0.78 to 5.56; 2 studies; n = 763; very low-certainty evidence; in absolute terms: no intervention or sham arm: 172 per 1000 and intervention arm: 358 per 1000). There is probably no difference between combinations and control in terms of the number of men experiencing surface or skin-related adverse events (2 studies; n = 853; moderate-certainty evidence), but it is uncertain whether combinations of treatments lead to more men experiencing muscle-related adverse events (RR 2.92, 95% CI 0.31 to 27.41; 2 studies; n = 136; very low-certainty evidence; in absolute terms: 0 per 1000 for both arms). Electrical or magnetic stimulation versus no treatment, sham treatment or verbal/written instructions We did not identify any studies for this comparison that reported on our key outcomes of interest. AUTHORS' CONCLUSIONS Despite a total of 25 trials, the value of conservative interventions for urinary incontinence following prostate surgery alone, or in combination, remains uncertain. Existing trials are typically small with methodological flaws. These issues are compounded by a lack of standardisation of the PFMT technique and marked variations in protocol concerning combinations of conservative treatments. Adverse events following conservative treatment are often poorly documented and incompletely described. Hence, there is a need for large, high-quality, adequately powered, randomised control trials with robust methodology to address this subject.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The increasing incidence and declining mortality rates seen in prostate cancer will result in a growing survivorship with a burden of health conditions, warranting attention to psychological health. Depression, anxiety, and distress have prognostic significance; attempts have been made to reduce them with psychological interventions using cognitive- and/or education-based approaches. The review of literature attempted to measure a clinically meaningful difference between pre- and post-intervention scores that were previously reported in randomized clinical trials. METHODS Using the PRISMA-checklist, we identified 22 studies that assessed psychological interventions by randomizing against care as usual (CAU). We calculated a percent change between pre- and post-trial mean scores for depression, anxiety, and distress in each study and analyzed effectiveness of intervention versus CAU. RESULTS The patient group receiving intervention showed significantly greater improvement in depression, anxiety, as well as general and cancer-specific distress as compared to CAU. The effectiveness of intervention was retained even in subgroups upon limiting analysis to seven studies that used one single assessment tool, the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS), or to 14 studies with localized prostate cancer (LPC). Improvement in depression did not correlate with anxiety but correlated significantly with a reduction in distress. Lastly, improvement in all three parameters was numerically greater in three studies that combined cognitive- and education-based approaches versus studies using either approach alone. CONCLUSIONS The present analysis underscores the utility of psychological intervention for depression, anxiety, and distress related to prostate cancer. Future research should ascertain their impact on long-term clinical outcomes, like disease progression and survival.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Prostate cancer (PC) is one of the most familiar disease of the male reproductive system globally. In treating the clinically localized PC, the radical prostatectomy is regarded as a gold standard, but it is associated with syndromes as urinary incontinence (UI), which can have a significant impact on patients' quality of life. Nurse takes responsibility in the management of the UI for their convenience compared with doctors to contact with patients and build better trust relationships with survivals. However, most of the studies focus on the physiological level, the psychological nursing intervention research is less. The purpose of the trial is to introduce a psychological intervention program and to study its effects on anxiety and depression after prostatectomy in IU patients. METHODS This is a single-center randomized controlled trial that was authorized by Ethics Committee of the First People's Hospital of Chenzhou City (2020054). One hundred participants who undergo radical prostatectomy are analyzed. Inclusion criteria are the following: PC is diagnosed based on histological results; Participants in the study voluntarily sign the informed consent table; Severe UI after extubation; Patients with postoperative UI do not receive any drug treatment. Exclusion criteria are the followings: patients with the history of prostate operation; patients with the history of severe renal and liver malignancy; UI caused by reasons other than prostatectomy. The main outcomes are the degree of anxiety and depression 2 months after urinary catheter is removed. The secondary outcomes are the quality of life 2 months after urinary catheter is removed. All data are collected and analyzed by the Social Science software version 21.0 (SPSS, Inc., Chicago, IL) program. RESULTS The relevant indexes of severe UI patients are compared in the table. CONCLUSION Psychological nursing intervention may have a positive effect on depression and anxiety in the UI patients after receiving the radical prostatectomy.
