Abstract
BACKGROUND Psychological distress is prevalent among newly diagnosed cancer patients, often exacerbating treatment-related anxiety and depression. Artificial intelligence (AI)-driven interventions, such as large language models (LLMs), offer scalable solutions for patient education. However, their effectiveness in mitigating psychological distress in oncology remains unverified. METHODS We conducted a prospective, two-center, randomized controlled trial between July and October 2024 to evaluate the effect of a ChatGPT-based digital counseling intervention on anxiety and depression in chemotherapy-naïve cancer patients. Participants were randomized 1:1 to either a ChatGPT-assisted counseling group or a standard clinician-led education group. The primary outcome was the change in Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) scores before the second chemotherapy cycle. Secondary outcomes included patient engagement behavior and the accuracy of AI-generated responses. Multivariable logistic regression assessed independent predictors of anxiety and depression reduction. The trial is registered with ClinicalTrials.gov (NCT06854315). FINDINGS Of 196 screened patients, 160 were randomized (ChatGPT: n = 80; control: n = 80). The final cohort comprised 150 patients (median age: 64 years; 53.3 % female). At follow-up, the ChatGPT group exhibited significantly lower median HADS-Anxiety (6 [0-17] vs. 8 [1-17]; P = 0.002) and HADS-Depression (6 [0-20] vs. 9 [0-19]; P < 0.001) scores compared to controls. ChatGPT use was the strongest predictor of anxiety reduction (OR, 18.684; 95 % CI, 3.981-87.685; P < 0.001). AI responses were deemed appropriate in 88.5 % of cases, with inaccuracies most common in dietary and sexual health recommendations. INTERPRETATION A ChatGPT-based counseling intervention significantly reduced anxiety and depression among newly diagnosed cancer patients prior to chemotherapy. These findings support the potential integration of AI-driven digital tools as adjuncts to conventional oncology education, enhancing patient support and engagement. Further research is needed to refine AI implementation in clinical practice.

This review examines the evolving role of social media (SM) in oncology, highlighting its impact on patient support, professional collaboration, and public health communication. SM platforms enable cancer patients, survivors, caregivers, and oncology professionals to share information, seek support, connect with one another, and engage in education. However, the widespread use of SM introduces challenges, including misinformation and privacy concerns. The article discusses current practices, emerging trends, and the potential of SM in enhancing oncology care, with a focus on its impact across various stakeholders, while emphasizing the need for strategies to manage associated risks and fully harness SM's benefits.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES COVID-19 exacerbated pre-existing social inequalities. Using three theories linking clinical and media contexts to patients' health outcomes, our study investigated (1) potential factors of cancer patients' trust in healthcare providers and social media; (2) how such trust may influence healthy lifestyles during COVID-19. METHODS Using structural equation modeling, we investigated effects of key patient-provider communication variables and media factors on healthy behaviors among cancer survivors (N = 1130) using a nationally representative dataset (HINTS-SEER restricted use files, January-July 2021). RESULTS More healthy behaviors since COVID-19 began were associated with more trust in healthcare providers, lower trust in social media about COVID-19, and more use of social media for health purposes. More trust in social media about COVID-19 was associated with more use of social media for health purposes (p < .01). More trust in healthcare providers about COVID-19 was associated with increased perceptions of patient-provider communication (p < .01). CONCLUSIONS Findings can inform interventions to connect at-risk cancer patients (e.g., those younger and with lower educational background) with providers in trust-enhancing conversations during situations like COVID-19. PRACTICE IMPLICATIONS Partnership building between providers and patients can be supplemented with scientific videos on popular social media sites like YouTube during public health crises and emergencies.

Abstract
Background The investigation of digital information sources and technologies specifically used by men with prostate cancer is scarce. This study seeks to address current gaps in the literature by investigating prostate cancer-specific internet and technology use by men with prostate cancer and factors associated with this use. Methods Cross-sectional surveys were conducted in three Australian urology clinics (local in Sydney, Western Sydney and Murrumbidgee) in 2023. Data analysis included descriptive and bivariate analysis. Chi square tests of independence, Mann-Whitney U tests and Fischer exact tests were used to assess demographic, prostate cancer-specific and psychometric variables with prostate cancer-specific usage of each website, social media and technology type. Results A total of 349 men responded. Mean age of respondents was 69.6 years (SD 7.8). 74.5% (n = 260) had undergone radical prostatectomy, while 10% (n = 35) reported locally advanced/metastatic disease. Information websites were used by 77.7% (n = 271) of men. Social media was used by 37% (n = 129), and total internet use was 79.1% (n = 276). Younger age, higher education and higher income were commonly associated with a greater extent of use of information source and technology types. High variability in usage and factor association was demonstrated between and within analysed group categories. Conclusions Men with prostate cancer use a broad variety of digital information sources and technologies to access prostate cancer information at a higher rate than ever before. This work stresses the significant variability in the extent of use which men demonstrate among these resources and the factors which may play a role in this behaviour.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Web-based information and social support are commonly used in rare disease communities where geographic dispersion and limited provider expertise complicate in-person support. We examined web-based resource use among caregivers of individuals with telomere biology disorders (TBDs), which are rare genetic conditions with long diagnostic odysseys and uncertain prognoses including multiorgan system cancer risk. OBJECTIVE This study explored internet-based information-seeking and social support practices and perspectives of patients with TBDs and their caregivers. METHODS Our qualitative descriptive study used semistructured interviews of patients with TBDs and caregivers. Data were transcribed verbatim and thematically analyzed by an interdisciplinary team. RESULTS A total of 32 adults completed interviews. Participant ages ranged from 27 to 74 years. The majority (n=28, 88%) were female, occupied multiple TBD roles (eg, patient and parent), and had undergone genetic testing. Most engaged in web-based information-seeking (n=29, 91%) and TBD-specific social media (n=26, 81%). Participants found web-based resources useful for information-seeking but reported privacy concerns and frustration with forming supportive relationships. Most participants described ambivalence toward web-based resource use, citing tensions between hunger for information versus distrust, empowerment versus overwhelm, disclosure versus privacy, and accessibility versus connection. Fluctuations in web-based support use arose from perceived harms, information saturation, or decreased relevance over the course of TBD illness experience. CONCLUSIONS Individuals with TBDs and their caregivers reported frequent use of web-based informational and emotional support. However, ambivalence about the benefits and liabilities of web-based resources and persistent medical uncertainty may impact the adoption of and adherence to web-based support among patients with TBD and caregivers. Our findings suggest web-based psychosocial support should target long-term and multifaceted informational and emotional needs, be user-initiated, be offered alongside in-person formats, provide expert-informed information, and be attentive to personal privacy and evolving support needs of the TBD community. This study suggests web-based resources will be most effective in the TBD context when they achieve the following features: (1) offer a variety of ways to engage (eg, active and passive), (2) provide privacy protections in moderated "safe spaces" designed for personal disclosure, (3) offer separate venues for informational versus emotional support, (4) combine web-based relationship formation with opportunities for in-person gathering, (5) provide information that is reliable, easy to access, and informed by medical professionals, (6) remain mindful of user distress, and (7) are responsive to variations in levels and types of engagement. Additionally, advocacy organizations may wish to avoid traditional social media platforms when designing safe spaces for web-based emotional support, instead pivoting to internet-based tools that minimize privacy threats and limit the perpetual public availability of shared information.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Providing current, evidence-based information to cancer survivors is critical for informed decision making. People diagnosed with a rare cancer report higher unmet information needs compared to common cancer survivors. However, interventions providing informational support for rare cancers are limited. Therefore, the aims of this systematic review were to identify and synthesise interventions decreasing survivors' information needs and/or improving satisfaction with information, and to explore potential components to be included in an intervention for rare cancer survivors. METHODS Searches were conducted in PubMed, CINAHL, Embase, PsycINFO and the Cochrane Library. Studies reporting an intervention targeting information needs and/or patient satisfaction with information in survivors of any cancer type were included. Data were extracted, a quality assessment performed and findings were synthesised. RESULTS A total of 7012 studies were identified and 34 were included in the review. Five studies targeted patients with a rare cancer type; the remaining studies included common cancer survivors. Interventions varied in relation to the mode of information provision, timing of intervention delivery, and the intervention provider. The most promising interventions included face-to-face communication and written material and were delivered by a nurse. All rare cancer studies were designed around a web-based program, but none of them improved outcomes. CONCLUSIONS Interventions targeting information needs and/or patient satisfaction with information in rare cancer survivors are lacking. Future studies should focus on this underserved group, and successful aspects of interventions for common cancer survivors should be considered for inclusion when designing an intervention for rare cancer survivors.

Abstract
PURPOSE Social media is widely used but few studies have examined how patients with advanced cancer want their accounts managed after death. The objective of this study was to determine the proportion of our patients with advanced cancer who have discussed the post-mortem management of their social media accounts with their family or friends. METHODS This was a cross-sectional survey in which patients with advanced cancer at an outpatient Supportive Care Clinic at a tertiary cancer center completed a novel survey on social media use that assessed patients' social media use practices, attitudes and preferences, and reactions to the survey. RESULTS Of 117 patients, 72 (61.5%) were women, and the mean age was 56.4 years old. We found that 24 (21%) of our patients have discussed their preferences for management of their social media accounts after death. Patients with a lower annual income were significantly more likely to report having such conversations (p = 0.0036). Completing the survey motivated 76 patients (67%) to discuss their social media accounts and 82 patients (71.3%) to explore how social media will be managed after their death. Half of our study participants reported social media as an important source of coping. CONCLUSION Few patients have had conversations on the management of their accounts after death, although more were interested in exploring their options further. More research is needed to examine the role of social media as a digital legacy and a coping tool for patients with advanced cancer.

Abstract
Among patients with cancer, diabetes mellitus (DM) is a prevalent comorbid condition. With an aging population and an increase in the prevalence of cancer and DM, the number of cancer patients with DM will rise. To date, studies have largely focused on understanding the context of cancer and DM co-management from the perspectives of oncology and primary care providers. To better understand the potential barriers to optimal cancer and DM co-management, we conducted 17 semi-structured interviews with DM patients receiving cancer care at New York-Presbyterian Weill Cornell Medical Center outpatient oncology clinics in New York, NY. In total, 53% patients were female, 35% were non-White, and the mean age was 64.75 (SD 11.10) years. We qualitatively analyzed our data and identified the following nine themes: (1) patients develop DM during or after cancer treatment; (2) patients do not know about the possible interactions between DM and cancer treatment; (3) cancer care is prioritized over DM management; (4) severity of DM symptoms drive patients' DM self-management during cancer care; (5) impact of cancer treatment on quality of life; (6) demands from cancer care make DM management more difficult; (7) patients want individualized treatment plans that integrate DM and cancer co-management; (8) need for greater patient activation; (9) lack of patient-centered educational resources on DM management during cancer care. Owing to these results, our findings highlight the need to increase patient engagement by developing and disseminating patient-centered educational resources on cancer and DM to improve self-management practices and patient outcomes.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Social media has the potential to provide social support for rare disease communities; however, little is known about the use of social media for the expression of medical uncertainty, a common feature of rare diseases. OBJECTIVE This study aims to evaluate the expression of medical uncertainty on social media in the context of dyskeratosis congenita, a rare cancer-prone inherited bone marrow failure and telomere biology disorder (TBD). METHODS We performed a content analysis of uncertainty-related posts on Facebook and Twitter managed by Team Telomere, a patient advocacy group for this rare disease. We assessed the frequency of uncertainty-related posts, uncertainty sources, issues, and management and associations between uncertainty and social support. RESULTS Across all TBD social media platforms, 45.98% (1269/2760) of posts were uncertainty related. Uncertainty-related posts authored by Team Telomere on Twitter focused on scientific (306/434, 70.5%) or personal (230/434, 53%) issues and reflected uncertainty arising from probability, ambiguity, or complexity. Uncertainty-related posts in conversations among patients and caregivers in the Facebook community group focused on scientific (429/511, 84%), personal (157/511, 30.7%), and practical (114/511, 22.3%) issues, many of which were related to prognostic unknowns. Both platforms suggested uncertainty management strategies that focused on information sharing and community building. Posts reflecting response-focused uncertainty management strategies (eg, emotional regulation) were more frequent on Twitter compared with the Facebook community group (χ21=3.9; P=.05), whereas posts reflecting uncertainty-focused management strategies (eg, ordering information) were more frequent in the Facebook community group compared with Twitter (χ21=55.1; P<.001). In the Facebook community group, only 36% (184/511) of members created posts during the study period, and those who created posts did so with a low frequency (median 3, IQR 1-7 posts). Analysis of post creator characteristics suggested that most users of TBD social media are White, female, and parents of patients with dyskeratosis congenita. CONCLUSIONS Although uncertainty is a pervasive and multifactorial issue in TBDs, our findings suggest that the discussion of medical uncertainty on TBD social media is largely limited to brief exchanges about scientific, personal, or practical issues rather than ongoing supportive conversation. The nature of uncertainty-related conversations also varied by user group: patients and caregivers used social media primarily to discuss scientific uncertainties (eg, regarding prognosis), form social connections, or exchange advice on accessing and organizing medical care, whereas Team Telomere used social media to express scientific and personal issues of uncertainty and to address the emotional impact of uncertainty. The higher involvement of female parents on TBD social media suggests a potentially greater burden of uncertainty management among mothers compared with other groups. Further research is needed to understand the dynamics of social media engagement to manage medical uncertainty in the TBD community.

Abstract
Survey studies have become instrumental in contributing to the evidence accumulation in rapidly developing medical disciplines such as medical education, public health, and nursing. The global medical community has seen an upsurge of surveys covering the experience and perceptions of health specialists, patients, and public representatives in the peri-pandemic coronavirus disease 2019 period. Currently, surveys can play a central role in increasing research activities in non-mainstream science countries where limited research funding and other barriers hinder science growth. Planning surveys starts with overviewing related reviews and other publications which may help to design questionnaires with comprehensive coverage of all related points. The validity and reliability of questionnaires rely on input from experts and potential responders who may suggest pertinent revisions to prepare forms with attractive designs, easily understandable questions, and correctly ordered points that appeal to target respondents. Currently available numerous online platforms such as Google Forms and Survey Monkey enable moderating online surveys and collecting responses from a large number of responders. Online surveys benefit from disseminating questionnaires via social media and other online platforms which facilitate the survey internationalization and participation of large groups of responders. Survey reporting can be arranged in line with related recommendations and reporting standards all of which have their strengths and limitations. The current article overviews available recommendations and presents pointers on designing, conducting, and reporting surveys.

Abstract
Understanding why patients seek informational and/or emotional support online is fundamental to providing patients with accurate and reliable support that is tailored to their needs, preferences, and personal situation. Based on the stress and coping theory and uses and gratifications theory (UGT), this study aimed to identify theoretically-founded profiles of cancer patients differing in their motives for seeking informational and/or emotional support online, and to compare the profiles in terms of patients' psychological and background characteristics, and perception of health care services. Hierarchical cluster analysis was conducted, using questionnaire data from patients visiting a large Dutch health website (N = 181). This revealed three distinctive profiles, i.e., overall seekers (n = 83, 46.0%), occasional information seekers (n = 83, 46.0%), and contact exchangers (n = 15, 8.0%). Patients across these profiles differed in their eHealth literacy, with the contact exchangers being more eHealth literate than the overall seekers and occasional information seekers. The results can be used to create awareness among health care providers, web designers, and patient organizations on different types of cancer patients with different motives for seeking informational and/or emotional support online, and help them to tailor recommendations to and development of (online) sources that fit patients' needs. Future research could further investigate the integration of stress and coping theory with UGT by acknowledging the interplay of different coping strategies and different gratifications.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Neuroendocrine cervical carcinoma (NECC) is rare. Educational resources are limited for NECC patients, leading many to seek information online through patient-led social networks. We sought to characterize the relationships between anxiety and depression levels and social media use among NECC patients. METHODS Seven surveys assessing social media use, anxiety, and depression were distributed to living NECC patients enrolled in our NECC registry. The primary outcomes were associations between Social Network Time Use Scale (SONTUS) global score and Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD-7) and Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale (CESD) total scores. RESULTS Eighty-eight patients enrolled; 81 who completed at least 1 survey were included. Ninety-seven percent (70/72) of patients completing SONTUS were low-to-average social media users. Seventy-four percent (53/72) of patients visited a patient-led NECC support-group page on Facebook within the past 4 weeks, and of those, 79% (42/53) reported receiving useful information. Among the patients who did not visit the page, 47% (9/19) reported that the page elicited anxiety and/or sadness. The mean GAD-7 and CES-D scores for the entire cohort were 7.3 and 18.1, respectively. The Spearman correlations between social media use and these scores were significant (GAD-7: 0.23 [p = 0.05]; CESD: 0.25 [p = 0.04]). The estimated odds ratios for moderate/severe anxiety and depression as a function of SONTUS global score were 1.26 (95% CI 1.03-1.55; p = 0.03) and 1.23 (95% CI 1.01-1.49; p = 0.04), respectively. CONCLUSIONS NECC patients demonstrated low-to-average social media use and relatively high anxiety and depression. Increased social media use was associated with elevated anxiety and depression.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Individuals undergoing radiation therapy for breast cancer frequently request information before, throughout and after the treatment as a means to reduce distress. Nevertheless, the provision of information to meet individuals needs from their level of health literacy is often overlooked. Thus, individuals information needs are often unmet, leading to reports of discontent. Internet and digital information technology has significantly augmented the available information and changed the way in which persons accesses and comprehends information. As health information is no longer explicitly obtained from healthcare professionals, it is essential to examine the sequences of the health information process in general, and in relation to health literacy. This paper reports on qualitative interviews, targeting women diagnosed with breast cancer who were given access to a health information technology tool, Digi-Do, before commencing radiation therapy, during, and after treatment. METHODS A qualitative research design, inspired by the integrated health literacy model, was chosen to enable critical reflection by the participating women. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 15 women with access to a digital information tool, named Digi-Do, in addition to receiving standard information (oral and written) before commencing radiation therapy, during, and after treatment. A deductive thematic analysis process was conducted. RESULTS The results demonstrate how knowledge, competence, and motivation influence women's experience of the health information process. Three main themes were found: Meeting interactive and personal needs by engaging with health information; Critical recognition of sources of information; and Capability to communicate comprehended health information. The findings reflect the women's experience of the four competencies: to access, understand, appraise, and apply, essential elements of the health information process. CONCLUSIONS We can conclude that there is a need for tailored digital information tools, such as the Digi-Do, to enable iterative access and use of reliable health information before, during and after the radiation therapy process. The Digi-Do can be seen as a valuable complement to the interpersonal communication with health care professionals, facilitating a better understanding, and enabling iterative access and use of reliable health information before, during and after the radiotherapy treatment. This enhances a sense of preparedness before treatment starts.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE This study aimed to develop a smartphone education application for managing metabolic syndrome among cancer survivors and obtain user evaluation based on quantitative and qualitative data. METHODS Ten cancer survivors and 10 oncology nurse specialists responded to a structured usability evaluation tool (Mobile Application Rating Scale: MARS). Quantitative data analysis was performed through descriptive statistics using SPSS version 25.0. We conducted semi-structured interviews of the cancer survivors and oncology nurse specialists. Qualitative data of interview responses were coded as the app's strengths and weaknesses, information, motivation, and behavioral change. RESULTS The overall usability evaluation score of the app was 3.66 ± 0.39 for cancer survivors and 3.79 ± 0.20 for oncology nurse specialists. Both cancer survivors and oncology nurse specialists scored the area of functionality as the highest and engagement as the lowest. Additionally, the qualitative usability evaluation suggested that the app should be visually improved by including figures and tables to enhance readability and providing videos and more specific guidelines to directly elicit behavioral change. CONCLUSIONS Metabolic syndrome in cancer survivors can be effectively managed by using the educational application developed in this study by improving the shortcomings of the app for cancer survivors.

Abstract
Introduction Adolescents and young adults diagnosed with cancer (AYAs) are under-represented in research. The Internet and social media could increase the reach of recruitment efforts but may impact sample characteristics. This study evaluated the characteristics of AYAs recruited in-person at an urban hospital versus the Internet in terms of their sociodemographic and medical characteristics, and psychosocial wellbeing, and offers recommendation for increasing the inclusivity and representativeness of research samples. Methods Participant data from a cross-sectional survey of AYAs in Canada were evaluated. In-person hospital recruitment used a registry to identify patients attending ambulatory clinics. Internet recruitment included notices on hospital, team members', and community partners' social media channels, and email newsletters. Independent sample t-tests and Chi-squared tests were used to identify differences in participant sociodemographic, medical, and psychosocial characteristics based on recruitment source. Results Of 436 participants, 217 (49.8%) were recruited in-person and 219 (50.2%) online. Online participants were more likely: to be white (p < .001), women (p < .001), and Canadian-born (p < .001); to speak English at home (p < .001), live alone (p = .001) and live in rural settings (p = .014); and to be farther from diagnosis (p = .023), diagnosed with breast cancer (p < .001), and cancer free (p < .001) compared to the hospital sample. Online participants also reported higher anxiety, depression, and loneliness (p < .001), and lower social support (p < .001), self-efficacy for coping with cancer (p < .001), and life satisfaction (p = .006). Conclusions Online recruitment yielded a more geographically diverse but less sociodemographically diverse sample of AYAs who were farther from diagnosis and had poorer psychosocial wellbeing than in-person recruitment at an urban hospital. Future research efforts should consider partnering with under-represented communities and using targeted and stratified online and in-person recruitment strategies to achieve an inclusive and representative sample of AYAs.

Abstract
Introduction Internet search trends may gauge public awareness and interest in cancer and help identify key areas for improvement in public health interventions and awareness campaigns. During the COVID-19 pandemic, cervical cancer screening significantly decreased, and we hypothesized that this would be mirrored by a decreased online interest in cervical cancer care. Methods Using the Google Trends database, we analyzed 2018-2021 global search trends in the following topics: cervical cancer, human papillomavirus, HPV vaccine, Cervarix, Gardasil, Pap test, HPV test, and colposcopy. Search trends were reported in the unit search volume index (SVI), which correlated with country-specific socioeconomic and epidemiologic characteristics. Results We found a sharp decline in global online search interest in cervical cancer following the declaration of the COVID-19 pandemic, after which interest gradually increased. During the pandemic, SVI for "cervical cancer" and "Pap test" significantly decreased, while SVI for "HPV vaccine" significantly increased. Higher online search interest in cervical cancer care was found in low- and middle-income countries, and countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, Asia, and Europe, reflecting their burden of disease and recent developments in cervical cancer control. Conclusion When the COVID-19 pandemic was declared, global online search interest in cervical cancer care decreased, reflective of the significant decline in cervical cancer screening rates during this time. Country-specific socioeconomic and epidemiologic characteristics correlated with online search interest in cervical cancer care. These global online search trends in cervical cancer may guide future public health interventions and awareness campaigns to eradicate this preventable disease worldwide.

Abstract
Multiple factors can facilitate or impede the fulfillment of communication functions in pediatric cancer. In this systematic review, we evaluated 109 studies from the preceding 20 years that presented qualitative or quantitative evidence of barriers or facilitators to communication in pediatric cancer. Using a multilevel framework developed in our prior study, we then analyzed and categorized the levels of barriers and facilitators identified in included studies. The vast majority of studies focused on individual-level barriers, rather than team, organization/system, collaborating hospital, community, or policy-level barriers. Future studies should explore the full range of factors that affect communication.

Abstract
Adolescents with cancer (AWC) in pediatrics may not have adequate opportunities for peer support. This mixed methods study aimed to characterize peer support needs of AWC during or shortly after treatment. Ten AWC with median age 16.5 (range 14-18) years completed a survey and semistructured interview. Three themes were apparent: cancer journey difficulties, current support system, and peer support perspectives. Participants felt incompletely understood by existing supports, lacked connection with other AWC, and craved experiential information. Peer support interventions should be flexible, facilitate various interactions, and include social media. The next step is to implement and evaluate an intervention.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Acne vulgaris (AV) may affect external appearance and significantly deteriorate the quality of life of patients. Therefore, patients make various inquiries about their disease and seek treatment options. AIMS To investigate the social media usage habits of patients with AV concerning their diseases, and their recommendations for dermatologists related to social media use. METHODS A total of 1609 patients with AV completed the survey prepared by the authors and the Cardiff Acne Disability Index questionnaire. The Food and Drug Administration severity scores and clinical information of the patients were noted by their physicians. RESULTS Of the 1,489 patients who stated that they used social media, 46.31% regularly and 28.77% sometimes referred to these sources to make inquiries about AV. Social media usage for AV was statistically significantly higher in women, participants with short term and severe disease, those with a moderate income level, and those using topical treatment and cosmetics. They mostly used Google (67%), Instagram (54%), and YouTube (49%). While 76% of the participants stated that they did not share what they saw on the Internet with their doctor. Of the respondents, 18.5% were trying to contact their dermatologists through the Internet, and 69.73% would prefer experts such as dermatologists to post-AV-related content. CONCLUSIONS Our study shows that patients frequently resort to social media to seek information about AV. In the changing digital world order, it is observed that there is a need for dermatologists to use social media more actively to share accurate information about AV.
