Abstract
OBJECTIVES Symptoms from SARS-CoV-2 infection can involve multiple organ systems. Several reviews discussed the neurologic involvement and neuroimaging findings in adults but research on children is lacking. This study aimed to analyze the incidence of neurologic involvement in patients diagnosed with pediatric inflammatory multisystem syndrome temporally associated with COVID-19 (PIMS-TS) or multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C); and also to summarize current literature on possible neuroimaging findings in SARS-CoV-2 infected children. METHODS A literature search in six electronic databases was performed to retrieve case series, cohort studies, and cross-sectional studies on neurologic involvement in COVID-19 patients younger than 21 years of age published between December 2019 to September 2023, including COVID-19 patients. RESULTS A total of 2224 patients with MIS-C from 10 cohorts and cross-sectional studies suggested that neurologic involvement in these subsets ranges from 8.5% to 32.1%. Symptoms included acute encephalitis, seizures, stroke, cranial nerve palsy, nausea/vomiting, and intracranial hypertension. Neuroradiology findings of 114 children from 50 case reports included splenial or acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM)-like lesions, cytotoxic brain edema, autoimmune demyelinating diseases, ischemic stroke and arteritis, venous thrombosis, intracranial hemorrhage, meningitis, posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome, anti-N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor autoimmune encephalitis, acute hemorrhagic leukoencephalitis, hydrocephalus, olfactory bulb atrophy, cerebellitis, and acute necrotizing encephalitis. CONCLUSION Radiologic findings of SARS-CoV-2 infection in the pediatric population are diverse. Neuroimaging studies should be considered in critically ill patients to rule out neurologic involvement and facilitate early interventions.

Abstract
It is well known that COVID-19, caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus and characterized by an acute respiratory syndrome with a high morbidity and mortality had rapidly spread around the world, taking on the character of a pandemic. The virus affects not only the respiratory tract, but also other organs due to mechanisms of the cytokine storm mechanism, in addition, hypoxic damage, immune mechanism and the mechanism involving angiotensin-converting enzyme. The frequency of CVT associated with COVID-19 is less than 0.02%, on the one hand, is low, but on the other hand, this rate is 30–60 times higher than the frequency of CVT in persons without COVID-19 (0.0003–0.0004% in adults and 0.0007% in children). For an individual patient, it is extremely important that the combination of CVT and COVID-19 is associated with a higher mortality rate (45.5%) in contrast to CVT (15%) and COVID-19 (5.6%) separately. In the presented literature review, the authors focus on the pathophysiological mechanisms of the development of COVID-19 associated cerebral thrombosis for a deeper and more holistic view of the pathological process occurring in the body in order to form and improve the clinical thinking of specialist doctors, and cite their own clinical observation as an illustration of the difficulties of diagnosing COVID-19 associated cerebral thrombosis. The authors believe that this review of the literature describing a clinical case is valuable from the point of view of practical applicability, both for clinicians of various fields and for researchers.

Abstract
BACKGROUND There is an increasing number of cases being reported of neurological manifestations of Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) infection and Monkeypox (Mpox), both during the course of the infection and as a presenting symptom. We aim to review the neurological manifestations of COVID-19 and monkeypox in pediatric patients and their management. METHODS We conducted a systematic review that included cohort studies and case series or reports involving a pediatric population of patients with a confirmed COVID-19 or Mpox infection and their neurological manifestations. We searched the following electronic databases: PubMed, EMBASE, and Scopus. RESULTS From 1136 articles identified, 127 studies were included. Headache, stroke, Guillain-Barré syndrome, seizure, nerve palsies, and multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children were the most common neurological symptoms caused by COVID-19, whereas encephalitis was commonly seen in patients with Mpox. Rare neurological manifestations of COVID-19 included cerebral venous sinus thrombosis, plexopathies, demyelinating disorders, encephalitis, etc., and rare neurological manifestations of Mpox included headache. CONCLUSIONS Our review highlights the importance of investigating possible neurological manifestations and closely monitoring these patients to develop a better understanding of the treatment strategies that can be adopted.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The olfactory dysfunction that occurs during a COVID-19 infection has sparked much debate about its similarity to sinusitis. Up to 65% of COVID-19 pediatric patients may be asymptomatic; however, when symptoms are observed, fever and cough are the most common. Nasal congestion and discharge as well as headaches can also be seen, which makes both entities, i.e., COVID-19 and sinusitis, similar to each other. METHODS In this review, we present the clinical case of a teenager with a history of acute sinusitis and COVID-19 co-infection followed by purulent meningoencephalitis. We aim to summarize available findings on the association between COVID-19, sinusitis, and possible common complications of both diseases. RESULTS Differentiating between COVID-19 and sinusitis can be confusing because presented symptoms may overlap or mimic each other. Increased risk of complications, especially in patients with bacterial sinusitis co-infected with SARS-CoV-2, should prompt physicians to monitor young patients and inform parents about disturbing symptoms and possible complications. CONCLUSIONS Acute sinusitis and COVID-19 co-infection may lead to numerous complications and should be included among the factors predisposing to worse prognosis. It is especially related to patients with high risk factors and even more important in children as they often pass the infection asymptomatically and its complications can lead to loss of health or life.

Abstract
The neurological complications of Coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) including stroke have been documented in the recent literature. COVID-19-related inflammation is suggested to contribute to both a hypercoagulable state and haemorrhagic transformation, including in younger individuals. COVID-19 is associated with a heightened risk of ischaemic stroke. Haemorrhagic stroke in COVID-19 patients is associated with increased morbidity and mortality. Cerebral venous sinus thrombosis (CVST) accounts for <1% of stroke cases in the general population but has come to heightened public attention due to the increased risk associated with adenoviral COVID-19 vaccines. However, recent evidence suggests the prevalence of stroke is less in vaccinated individuals than in unvaccinated COVID-19 patients. This review evaluates the current evidence of COVID-19-related ischaemic and haemorrhagic stroke, with a focus on current epidemiology and inflammatory-linked pathophysiology in the field of vascular neurology and stroke medicine.

Abstract
COVID-19 and multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C) have been associated with a higher incidence of hypercoagulability and thromboembolic events (TEs), even in children, leading to relevant morbidity, and mortality. However, our understanding of such complications in childhood is limited. To better understand the incidence, clinical manifestations, risk factors, and management of COVID-19 and MIS-C-related TEs in children, a review of the current literature and a brief update on pathophysiology are given. Sixty-two studies, describing 138 patients with TEs associated with COVID-19 or MIS-C, were included. The overall number of TEs was 157, as 16 patients developed multiple TEs: venous TEs represented the majority (54%), followed by arterial thrombosis (38%, mainly represented by arterial ischemic stroke-AIS), and intracardiac thrombosis (ICT) (8%). Within the venous TEs group, pulmonary embolism (PE) was the most frequent, followed by deep venous thrombosis, central venous sinus thrombosis, and splanchnic venous thrombosis. Notably, 10 patients had multiple types of venous TEs, and four had both venous and arterial thrombosis including a newborn. Most of them (79 cases,57%) had at least one predisposing condition, being obesity the most frequent (21%), especially in patients with PE, followed by malignancy (9%). In 35% of cases, no data about the outcome were available About one-third of cases recovered, 12% improved at discharge or follow-up, and 6% had persistent neurological sequelae. The mortality rate was 12%, with death due to comorbidities in most cases. Most fatalities occurred in patients with arterial thrombosis. Pediatricians should be aware of this life-threatening possibility facing children with SARS-CoV-2 infection or its multisystemic inflammatory complication, who abruptly develop neurological or respiratory impairment. A prompt intensive care is essential to avoid severe sequelae or even exitus.
