Abstract
Early screening for cervical cancer has substantially reduced the morbidity and mortality attributed to it. This study aimed to assess factors that affect the intention to undergo cervical cancer screening among rural women attending primary healthcare facilities in south-central Ethiopia. A health-facility-based, cross-sectional study design was employed for which the calculated required sample size was 427. An interviewer-administered structured questionnaire was adapted from previously published research and used to collect data. Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 27 was used for the statistical analysis. A logistic regression model was used to determine the factors that influenced the women's intention to undergo cervical cancer screening. A total of 420 women participated in this study, with a response rate of 98%. The mean score from the questionnaire that was used to assess the women's intention to undergo cervical cancer screening was 10.25 (SD ± 2.34; min 3, max 15). The absence of previous screening experience (AOR: 0.498; 95% CI 0.27-0.92) and high degree of perceived behavioural control (AOR, 0.823; 95% CI 0.728-0.930) were significantly negatively associated with women's intention to undergo cervical cancer screening. Previous screening experience and perceived behavioural control significantly influenced the intention to undergo cervical cancer screening. Women in rural areas could, therefore, benefit from awareness-creation programmes that focus on these factors.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Cervical cancer is a common cancer among young women aged 25-29 in England, and the NHS cervical screening leaflet is the first point of contact for those being invited for their first screening. This study aimed to explore how young women (18-24) understand and engage with the leaflet, as well as the barriers and facilitators associated with its interpretation, engagement, and screening intentions. METHODS The study used a mixed-methods approach, including a survey (n = 120) to identify interpretation difficulties and how they were affected by different characteristics, and a follow-up interview (n = 10) to assess the utility of the leaflet, identify issues with its practicality, and determine the factors that influence screening intentions. RESULTS The survey results showed that interpretation difficulties were common, particularly regarding HPV assessment, screening results, additional tests/treatment, and screening risks. Lower interpretation accuracy was associated with lower numeracy scores and non-white ethnicity. Despite these difficulties, participants had high confidence and motivation to engage with the leaflet. The interviews revealed knowledge gaps, issues with the leaflet's practicality, and a preference for digital information. Factors that were identified as barriers and facilitators of leaflet interpretation, engagement, and screening intentions included knowledge, social influence, beliefs about consequences, environmental context and resources, social role and identity, emotions and intentions. CONCLUSION The current leaflet does not provide enough information for young women to make an informed decision about screening attendance. Implementing a digital invitation featuring simplified gist representation, targeted behaviour change techniques (BCTs), videos, and interactive tools can enhance education and promote screening behaviour. Future research should consider using digital tools and strategies to address existing barriers related to interpretation and engagement.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Over recent years, cervical cancer incidence and related mortality have steadily increased in Eswatini. Low cervical cancer screening uptake partly explains the situation. Cervical cancer screening-related knowledge is positively associated with screening uptake. Little is known about women's cervical cancer screening-related knowledge in Eswatini. OBJECTIVE This study aimed to assess cervical cancer screening knowledge and associated factors among Eswatini women eligible for screening. METHODS A cross-sectional study involving three hundred and seventy-seven women aged 25 to 59 selected from four primary healthcare clinics in Eswatini was conducted. A paper and pen survey assessed knowledge about cervical cancer risk factors, benefits of screening, the meaning of screening results, recommended screening intervals, and socio-demographics. Descriptive analyses were performed to assess participants' sociodemographic characteristics. Linear regression was applied to examine associations between cervical cancer screening-related knowledge and participants' sociodemographic characteristics. RESULTS Two hundred and twenty-nine (61%) participants answered 80% or more knowledge questions correctly. Compared to HIV-positive participants, HIV-negative participants had 0.61 times lower cervical cancer screening knowledge scores (β = -0.39, 95% CI: -0.56, -0.19, p = 0.03). Participants who travelled more than 30 minutes to the clinic had 0.3 times lower cervical cancer screening knowledge scores (β = -0.70, 95% CI: -1.15, -0.25, p < 0.01) compared to participants who travelled less than 30 minutes to the clinic. CONCLUSIONS Relatively high overall cervical cancer screening knowledge levels were observed among the study participants. Findings from the current study may inform future educational programs to create and sustain an accurate understanding of cervical cancer screening in Eswatini communities.

Abstract
Globally, Japan has the lowest rate of vaccine confidence. The persistent parental vaccine hesitancy has been attributed to safety and efficacy concerns and is primarily driven by the negative experience with human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccines. This literature review aimed to identify factors associated with HPV vaccine uptake and potential strategies to reduce vaccine hesitancy among Japanese parents. Articles published in English or Japanese between January 1998 and October 2022 that examined Japanese parental factors for HPV vaccine uptake were identified from PubMed, Web of Science, and Ichushi-Web. In total, 17 articles met the inclusion criteria. Four key themes which affected HPV vaccine hesitancy and acceptance were identified: perceptions of risk and benefits, trust and recommendation, information and knowledge, and sociodemographic characteristics. While governmental and healthcare provider recommendations are important factors, efforts to improve parental confidence in the HPV vaccine are required. Future interventions to counteract HPV vaccine hesitancy should actively disseminate information on vaccine safety and effectiveness, along with information on the severity and susceptibility of HPV infection.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION In Japan, two groups of women, HPV vaccinated and unvaccinated, are approaching age 20, when they should begin cervical cancer screening. To improve Japan's current poor cervical cancer screening rate, we need to know how these women are thinking about screening. METHODS We conducted an internet survey of 20-y-old women, exploring their understanding of HPV and cervical cancer screening. We then gave them leaflets with basic information about HPV and cervical cancer, stressing the importance of early detection by screening. We analyzed the leaflet's effects on their attitudes based on their vaccination status. RESULTS Our study of 618 women found a significantly higher intention for engagement for cervical cancer screening in women HPV-vaccinated as teenagers (29% versus 17%). They were also more aware that: (1) HPV is transmitted by sexual intercourse (49.1% versus 39.2%); (2) the HPV vaccine prevents cervical cancer (49.0% to 34.0%); and (3) the appropriate cervical cancer screening interval is every 2 y (63.3% versus 56.2%). Women in both groups responded well to the leaflet, with significant improvements in intention to receive screening. However, 65%-67% were not swayed. DISCUSSION HPV-vaccinated women were more knowledgeable about cervical cancer and had a greater intention to receive screening. Our educational leaflet was moderately effective in both groups for increasing intentions to screen, but the majority in both groups were still resistant to screening. CONCLUSION Japan needs to develop more effective educational programs and tools to vigorously impart the importance of cervical cancer screening.

Abstract
Background Cervical cancer is the most common cancer among females in Swaziland, yet the screening rate remains low. The study intended to explore the knowledge, attitudes and practice on cervical cancer and screening. Methods A cross-sectional questionnaire survey was conducted among 202 men and 213 women aged 30-65 years. The participants were from the Manzini and Shiselweni regions of Swaziland, sampled from both rural (77.8%) and urban areas. Results About half (53.5%) of women and 22.8% of men correctly named at least one symptom of cervical cancer. Many (58.1%) participants had misconceptions on the risk factors of cervical cancer, such as witchcraft, abortion, or birth control. Only 5.2% of the women had been screened. Among women, 40.0% reported that they need to seek their spouses' permission to visit the clinic. Men with less misconceptions on cervical cancer heard of screening and with no preference of the gender of the health care worker were more likely to report that they would allow their partners to be screened. Conclusions Men have less knowledge on cervical cancer yet may make important health related decisions for women. There is a need for comprehensive education on cervical cancer for both women and men.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The incidence of cervical cancer has been increasing, especially in younger generation, in Japan. The females born between 1994 and 1999, who achieved rates of HPV vaccination approaching 70%, have become the target of cervical cancer screening programs. Here, we have analyzed the cervical cancer screening rates among the vaccinated and unvaccinated women. METHODS The survey data for cervical cancer screening at age 20 in FY 2015 was derived from two cities, Toyonaka and Iwaki. RESULTS Among 2,727 females, in Toyonaka and Iwaki, who were born in FY 1995 and targeted in FY 2015 at age 20 for cervical cancer screening, their HPV vaccination rate was 64.2% (1,753/2,727). The screening rate was 6.4% (112/1,753) in the vaccinated and 3.9% (38/974) in the unvaccinated. This difference was statistically significant (p < 0.01). CONCLUSIONS We have demonstrated that HPV-vaccinated females tended to be effectively protected from future cervical cancer than the unvaccinated.

Abstract
Background In Japan, the rate of cervical cancer screening is remarkably low, especially among women in their twenties and thirties, when cervical cancer is now increasing dramatically. The aim of this study was to test whether a modified government reminder for 20-year-old women to engage in cervical cancer screening, acting through maternal education and by asking for a maternal recommendation to the daughter to receive the screening, could increase their participation rate. Methods In two Japanese cities, 20-year-old girls who had not received their first cervical cancer screening before October of fiscal year 2014 were randomized into two study arms. One group of 1,274 received only a personalized daughter-directed reminder leaflet for cervical cancer screening. In the second group of 1,274, the daughters and their mothers received a combination package containing the same reminder leaflet as did the first group, plus an additional informational leaflet for the mother, which requested that the mother recommend that her daughter undergo cervical cancer screening. The subsequent post-reminder screening rates of these two study arms were compared. Results The cervical cancer screening rate of 20-year-old women whose mothers received the information leaflet was significantly higher than that for women who received only a leaflet for themselves (11% vs 9%, P = 0.0049). Conclusions An intervention with mothers, by sending them a cervical cancer information leaflet with a request that they recommend that their daughter receive cervical cancer screening, significantly improved their daughters’ screening rate.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Adding bevacizumab to chemotherapy for recurrent, persistent or metastatic cervical cancer significantly improved overall survival (primary endpoint), progression-free survival and overall response rate in the randomized Phase III GOG-0240 trial. However, data for bevacizumab-containing therapy are scarce in Japanese patients with advanced cervical cancer. METHODS The primary objective of the single-arm multicenter Phase II JO29569 study was to evaluate the tolerability of paclitaxel (135 mg/m2 over 24 h or 175 mg/m2 over 3 h), cisplatin (50 mg/m2) and bevacizumab (15 mg/kg), administered every 3 weeks until disease progression or unacceptable toxicity in Japanese patients with stage IVB, persistent or recurrent cervical cancer. RESULTS The seven treated patients received a median of nine (range 7-12) bevacizumab cycles and six (range 4-12) chemotherapy cycles. None of the predefined adverse events occurred during the tolerability evaluation period. The most common all-grade adverse events were alopecia, hypertension, decreased appetite, nausea and peripheral sensory neuropathy. There were no cases of fistula. The most common grade ≥3 adverse events were hypertension, neutrophil count decreased and neutropenia. Only one patient experienced febrile neutropenia. The overall response rate was 86% (95% confidence interval, 42-100%), including a complete response in one patient. At data cutoff, disease had progressed in one patient; bevacizumab therapy was ongoing in the remaining six. CONCLUSIONS According to the specified primary objective, a regimen of cisplatin, paclitaxel and bevacizumab was tolerable in Japanese patients and demonstrated encouraging activity in this small single-arm study. Further study is warranted to confirm the safety and effectiveness of bevacizumab in Japanese patients with cervical cancer.
