Association between Urinary Advanced Glycation End Products and Subclinical Inflammation in Children and Adolescents: Results from the Italian I.Family Cohort. Nutrients 2022; 14:nu14194135. Abstract
Advanced Glycation End Products (AGEs) have been positively correlated with inflammation in adults, while inconsistent evidence is available in children. We evaluated the association between urinary AGEs, measured by fluorescence spectroscopy, and biomarkers of subclinical inflammation in 676 healthy children/adolescents (age 11.8 ± 1.6 years, M ± SD) from the Italian cohort of the I.Family project. Urinary fluorescent AGEs were used as independent variable and high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) was the primary outcome, while other biomarkers of inflammation were investigated as secondary outcomes. Participants with urinary AGEs above the median of the study population showed statistically significantly higher hs-CRP levels as compared to those below the median (hs-CRP 0.44 ± 1.1 vs. 0.24 ± 0.6 mg/dL, M ± SD p = 0.002). We found significant positive correlations between urinary AGEs and hs-CRP (p = 0.0001), IL-15 (p = 0.001), IP-10 (p = 0.006), and IL-1Ra (p = 0.001). At multiple regression analysis, urinary AGEs, age, and BMI Z-score were independent variables predicting hs-CRP levels. We demonstrated for the first time, in a large cohort of children and adolescents, that the measurement of fluorescent urinary AGEs may represent a simple, noninvasive, and rapid technique to evaluate the association between AGEs and biomarkers of inflammation. Our data support a role of AGEs as biomarkers of subclinical inflammation in otherwise healthy children and adolescents.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To determine the time relationships of soluble receptor for glycation end-products (sRAGE), [a decoy of the advanced glycation end-products (AGE)-RAGE axis] and D-lactate, (a metabolite of methylglyoxal) in the inflammatory response to diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA). METHODS Sixteen children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes (T1D) had blood samples obtained, 6-12 hours into treatment, at three weeks and three months post start of treatment. sRAGE and D-lactate concentrations at three months were considered baseline. Expression of RAGE was investigated in the myocardium of a newly diagnosed and untreated young person with fatal T1D/DKA. RESULTS sRAGE 6-12 hours after the start of treatment was 39% lower than the values at two weeks (p=0.0036) and at three months (p=0.0023) post treatment. D-lactate was higher during treatment than at three weeks (p=0.04) and at three months (p=0.035). CONCLUSION sRAGE concentration was decreased during treatment, compared to concentrations at two weeks and three months after treatment. The increased D-lactate during treatment was in keeping with the known increase in dicarbonyls at this time. The finding of RAGE expression in a young myocardium prior to DKA treatment suggested cardiovascular inflammation pre-treatment and at a young age.

Abstract
Background and objectives: Warts are the most common lesions caused by human papillomavirus (HPV). Recent research suggests that oxidative stress and inflammation are involved in the pathogenesis of HPV-related lesions. It has been shown that the soluble receptor for advanced glycation end products (sRAGE) may act as a protective factor against the deleterious effects of inflammation and oxidative stress, two interconnected processes. However, in HPV infection, the role of sRAGE, constitutively expressed in the skin, has not been investigated in previous studies. Materials and Methods: In order to analyze the role of sRAGE in warts, we investigated the link between sRAGE and the inflammatory response on one hand, and the relationship between sRAGE and the total oxidant/antioxidant status (TOS/TAS) on the other hand, in both patients with palmoplantar warts (n = 24) and healthy subjects as controls (n = 28). Results: Compared to the control group, our results showed that patients with warts had lower levels of sRAGE (1036.50 ± 207.60 pg/mL vs. 1215.32 ± 266.12 pg/mL, p < 0.05), higher serum levels of TOS (3.17 ± 0.27 vs. 2.93 ± 0.22 µmol H2O2 Eq/L, p < 0.01), lower serum levels of TAS (1.85 ± 0.12 vs. 2.03 ± 0.14 µmol Trolox Eq/L, p < 0.01) and minor variations of the inflammation parameters (high sensitivity-CRP, interleukin-6, fibrinogen, and erythrocyte sedimentation rate). Moreover, in patients with warts, sRAGE positively correlated with TAS (r = 0.43, p < 0.05), negatively correlated with TOS (r = −0.90, p < 0.01), and there was no significant correlation with inflammation parameters. There were no significant differences regarding the studied parameters between groups when we stratified the patients according to the number of the lesions and disease duration. Conclusions: Our results suggest that sRAGE acts as a negative regulator of oxidative stress and could represent a mediator involved in the development of warts. However, we consider that the level of sRAGE cannot be used as a biomarker for the severity of warts. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study to demonstrate that sRAGE could be involved in HPV pathogenesis and represent a marker of oxidative stress in patients with warts.

Abstract
The aim of the present study was to evaluate advanced glycation end products (AGEs) and soluble form of receptor RAGE (sRAGE) concentrations as well as the AGEs/sRAGE ratio in mild (MH) and resistant (RH) hypertensive patients in comparison with normotensive individuals. We also evaluated the association between AGEs, sRAGE as well as AGEs/sRAGE ratio and circulating endothelial cells (CECs) and circulating endothelial progenitor cells (CEPCs). The MH group consisted of 30 patients, whereas 30 patients were classified for the RH group. The control group (C) included 25 normotensive volunteers. AGEs and sRAGE were measured using enzyme-linked-immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The multicolor flow cytometry was used for analysis of CECs and CEPCs. Significantly higher levels of AGEs in RH cohort were observed as compared to C cohort. Furthermore, significantly lower sRAGE levels as well as a higher AGEs/sRAGE ratio were observed between MH and RH cohorts. Significant correlations were found in the MH cohort for sRAGE and CECs, and CEPCs. The elevation of AGEs levels suggests that oxidative modification of proteins occurs in hypertension pathogenesis. The decrease in sRAGE levels and elevation of the AGEs/sRAGE ratio in MH and RH groups may suggest that hypertensive patients are less protected against the side effects of AGEs as a consequence of an insufficient competitive role of sRAGE against the AGEs-RAGE axis. Finally, it may be concluded that the level of AGEs may be an independent predictor of the condition and function of the endothelium. Furthermore, sRAGE may be classified as a potential biomarker of inflammation and endothelium dysfunction.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Receptor for advanced glycation end products (RAGE) expressed on adipocytes and immune cells can bind to ligand N(ε)-(carboxymethyl)-lysine (CML) and trigger dysregulation of adipokines and chronic inflammation. Soluble RAGE (sRAGE) mitigates the detrimental effect of RAGE. We examined the associations between circulating levels of CML-AGE and sRAGE and colorectal cancer (CRC). METHODS In a case-cohort study of the Women's Health Initiative Study, blood levels of CML-AGE and sRAGE were measured using ELISA. We used multivariable Cox regression model to estimate hazard ratios (HRs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) of incident CRC in relation to quartiles (Q) of biomarker levels. RESULTS Average follow-up was 7.8 years for 444 cases and 805 subcohort members. In the subcohort, CML-AGE and sRAGE were inversely correlated with BMI (P values<0.0001). Levels of CML-AGE and sRAGE were not associated with CRC. In BMI-specific analysis, the association between sRAGE and CRC was observed. Among women with BMI≥25kg/m(2), those with highest levels of sRAGE had significantly lower risk for CRC as compared to women with lowest levels of sRAGE (HRQ4versusQ1: 0.39; 95% CI: 0.17-0.91). This inverse association was not observed among women with BMI <25kg/m(2) (P value for interaction=0.01). CONCLUSIONS Among postmenopausal women, the RAGE pathway may be involved in obesity-related CRC.

Abstract
The receptor of advanced glycation end products (RAGE) and its ligands are linked to the pathogenesis of coronary artery disease (CAD), and circulating soluble receptor of advanced glycation end products (sRAGE), reflecting the RAGE activity, is suggested as a potential biomarker. Elevated sRAGE levels are reported in relation to acute ischemia and this review focuses on the role of sRAGE as a biomarker for the acute coronary syndrome (ACS). The current studies demonstrated that sRAGE levels are elevated in relation to ACS, however during a very narrow time period, indicating that the time of sampling needs attention. Interestingly, activation of RAGE may influence the pathogenesis and reflection in sRAGE levels in acute and stable CAD differently.

Abstract
Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a major cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. It results from diverse etiologies, diabetes being a frontrunner amongst them. Type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM) is being increasingly recognized as a proinflammatory state with increased oxidative stress which enormously increases the risk of micro and macro vascular diseases. This study was planned to explore the possible association between tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), urinary monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (uMCP-1), high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hsCRP) and parameters of oxidative stress in patients with Type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM) and diabetic chronic kidney disease (DM-CKD). Fifty patients each were recruited in DM, DM-CKD and healthy control groups. Plasma TNF-α, hsCRP and uMCP-1 levels as inflammatory mediators were measured by ELISA, reduced glutathione (GSH), ferric reducing ability of plasma (FRAP) as parameters of antioxidant activity and malondialdehyde (MDA) as marker of oxidative stress, were measured spectrophotometrically. Plasma TNF-α, hsCRP and uMCP-1 were significantly higher in DM-CKD compared to DM and healthy controls. Lipid peroxidation, measured as MDA was significantly higher in patients with DM-CKD as compared to patients with DM and healthy controls. Further, antioxidant capacity of blood measured as FRAP and GSH was found to be significantly lower in patients with DM and DM-CKD as compared to healthy controls (p<0.001). Plasma TNF-α and uMCP-1 showed a significant positive correlation with HbA1c (r=0.441, 0.643), hsCRP (r=0.400, 0.584) and MDA (r=0.423, 0.759) and significant negative correlation with GSH (R=-0.370, -0.800) and FRAP (r=-0.344, -0.684) Increased inflammatory markers viz. TNF-α, hsCRP and uMCP-1 and markers of oxidative stress i.e. increased MDA and decreased GSH and FRAP in DM-CKD suggest an important role of inflammation and oxidative stress in the pathogenesis of renal damage in diabetic patients.

Abstract
The objective of the present study was define in a relatively large patient population with coronary artery disease (CAD) whether the concomitant presence of peripheral artery disease (PAD), which is known to convey additional cardiovascular risk, was associated with different circulating levels of sRAGE with respect to CAD alone and control subjects. Clinical and laboratory parameters including the ankle brachial index (ABI) and sRAGE (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay kit) were investigated in 544 patients with angiographically documented CAD and 328 control subjects. 213/554 CAD patients (39%) showed an ABI <0.9 associated with typical symptoms (group CAD + PAD), whereas 331 patients were free from PAD. The concentration of plasma sRAGE was significantly lower (P < 0.0001) in CAD population, with and without PAD, than in control subjects. Among CAD patients, those with PAD showed lower levels of sRAGE. The distribution of the three groups (CAD, CAD + PAD, and controls) according to sRAGE tertiles showed that lower levels were more frequent in patients with CAD and CAD + PAD, whereas higher levels were more frequently found in controls. CAD patients presenting with PAD have lower sRAGE levels than CAD patients without peripheral atherosclerosis showing that stable atherosclerotic lesions in different vascular districts are inversely related to soluble decoy receptor sRAGE.

Abstract
Receptor for Advanced Glycation End-products (RAGE) is a multi-ligand receptor ubiquitous present on epithelial, neuronal, vascular and inflammatory cells, usually expressed at low levels in homeostasis and to increased degrees at sites of stress or injury. The aim of the present study was to evaluate sRAGE plasma levels in patients with Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS) and to assess its diagnostic efficacy in identification of patients with acute events. Plasma levels of sRAGE were determined in 860 patients with Coronary Artery Disease (CAD): 530 patients presented stable angina and 330 were observed during acute ischemic event (147 with unstable angina and 183 with myocardial infarction). sRAGE plasma levels were significantly lower in patients with ACS than in patients with stable angina: [median 584 pg/mL (IQR: 266–851 pg/mL) in MI patients, median 769 pg/mL (IQR: 394–987 pg/mL) in patients with unstable angina, median 834 pg/mL (IQR 630–1005 pg/mL) in patients with stable angina; P < 0.001]. sRAGE levels did not differ among ACS patients stratified by the extent of coronary artery disease. In conclusion, this study confirm the role of sRAGE in activation and progression of inflammatory process and suggests the possibility that sRAGE can be considered an indicator of destabilization of vulnerable plaque.

Abstract
Background Considerable efforts have been devoted to evaluating the association of the receptor for advanced glycation end-products (gene AGER and protein: RAGE) genetic variants to coronary artery disease (CAD); the results, however, are often irreproducible. To generate more information, we sought to explore four common polymorphisms of AGER and its circulating forms associated with the risk of CAD via a meta-analysis. Methodology/Principal Findings Articles were identified by searching PubMed, EMBASE, Wanfang and CNKI databases before March 2013. Qualified articles had case-control designs and investigated AGER four polymorphisms (T-429C, T-374A, Gly82Ser, G1704A) or circulating soluble RAGE (sRAGE) or endogenous secretory RAGE (esRAGE) levels associated with CAD. Twenty-seven articles involving 39 independent groups fulfilled the predefined criteria. Overall, no significance was observed for all examined polymorphisms under allelic and dominant models. When restricting groups to CAD patients with diabetes mellitus or renal disease, deviations of risk estimates from the unity were stronger than overall estimates for all polymorphisms except for G1704A due to limited available studies. For example, under dominant model, having -429C allele increased the odds of developing CAD in diabetic patients by 1.22-fold (95% confidence interval (95% CI) 0.99–1.51; P = 0.06; I2 = 6.7%) compared with that of overall estimate of 1.15-fold (95% CI: 0.97–1.36; P = 0.111; I2 = 18.0%). Circulating sRAGE levels were non-significantly lower in CAD patients than in controls, whereas this reduction was totally and significantly reversed in CAD patients with diabetes mellitus (weighted mean difference: 185.71 pg/ml; 95% CI: 106.82 to 264.61 pg/ml). Circulating esRAGE levels were remarkably lower in CAD patients, as well as in subgroups with or without diabetes mellitus and without renal disease. Conclusions Our findings demonstrated that association of AGER genetic polymorphisms with CAD was potentiated in patients with diabetes mellitus or renal disease. Practically, circulating esRAGE might be a powerful negative predictor for the development of CAD.

Abstract
Advanced glycation end products (AGEs) and their receptors are strongly implicated in the development of diabetes complications. When stimulated by AGEs, the receptors for AGEs (RAGEs) induce inflammation and are thought to fuel disease progression. Soluble circulating RAGE (sRAGE) may counteract the detrimental effects of RAGE. We measured sRAGE in stored plasma from a random sample of 1,201 participants in the Atherosclerosis Risk in Communities (ARIC) Study who were aged 47-68 years, had normal kidney function, and had no history of cardiovascular disease. In cross-sectional analyses, black race, male sex, higher BMI, and higher C-reactive protein were independently associated with low sRAGE. The racial difference was striking, with blacks approximately three times more likely to have low sRAGE compared with whites even after adjustment. During ~18 years of follow-up, there were 192 incident coronary heart disease events, 53 ischemic strokes, 213 deaths, and 253 cases of diabetes (among the 1,057 persons without diabetes at baseline). In multivariable Cox models comparing risk in the first quartile with that in the fourth quartile of baseline sRAGE, low levels of sRAGE were significantly associated with risk of diabetes (hazard ratio 1.64 [95% CI 1.10-2.44]), coronary heart disease (1.82 [1.17-2.84]), and mortality (1.72 [1.11-2.64]) but not ischemic stroke (0.78 [0.34-1.79]). In conclusion, we found that low levels of sRAGE were a marker of future chronic disease risk and mortality in the community and may represent an inflammatory state. Racial differences in sRAGE deserve further examination.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Interaction of advanced glycation end products (AGEs) with their receptors (RAGE) plays an important role in inflammation in auto-immune diseases. Several functional polymorphisms of RAGE have been described. In this study we analysed the role of RAGE polymorphisms in disease susceptibility for systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). In addition, we investigated whether these polymorphisms in SLE are associated with serum levels of soluble RAGE (sRAGE), renal involvement (lupus nephritis (LN)) and its outcome. METHODS For this cross-sectional study DNA samples of 97 SLE patients, 114 LN patients and 429 healthy controls (HC) were genotyped for four RAGE polymorphisms: -429 T/C, -374 T/A, 2184 A/G and Gly82Ser. Differences in genotype frequencies and allele frequencies were tested between patients and HCs. In SLE patients, sRAGE was measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). In addition, association of genotypes with sRAGE and disease severity in LN was analysed. RESULTS The C allele of -429 T/C, the T allele of -374 T/A and the G allele of 2184 A/G were significantly more prevalent in SLE and LN compared with HC. In LN, the C allele of RAGE -429 T/C, the A allele of -374 T/A and the G allele of RAGE 2184 A/G polymorphism were significantly associated with more proteinuria and worse renal function during the first two years of treatment. No association of genotype with sRAGE was found. CONCLUSION RAGE polymorphisms are associated with susceptibility to SLE and LN. In addition, some of these polymorphisms are likely to be associated with disease severity and initial response to treatment in LN.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Determine the serum levels of endogenous secretory receptor for advanced glycation end products (esRAGEs) in patients with type 2 diabetes and mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and in control patients with type 2 diabetes but no MCI, and examine the relationship of esRAGE and MCI with other clinical factors. RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS A total of 101 patients with type 2 diabetes who were hospitalized in the Department of Endocrinology at Fujian Provincial Hospital between January 2010 and January 2011 were enrolled. There were 58 patients with MCI and 43 patients without MCI (control). Serum levels of esRAGE were measured using an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Other clinical parameters were also measured. RESULTS Type 2 diabetic patients with MCI had a longer duration of diabetes; elevated HbA(1c), total cholesterol (CHOL), LDL cholesterol (LDL-C), triglyceride (TG), intima-media thickness, C-reactive protein (CRP), and brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity (ba-PWV); and lower ankle brachial index (ABI) and esRAGE relative to the control group. Among patients with MCI, the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) score was positively correlated with serum esRAGE but negatively correlated with CHOL. Spearman rank correlation analysis indicated that esRAGE was positively correlated with MoCA score and ABI but negatively correlated with ba-PWV, CHOL, TG, and CRP in all subjects. CONCLUSIONS Our results suggest that esRAGE may be a potential protective factor for dyslipidemia, atherosclerosis, and MCI in patients with type 2 diabetes.

Abstract
The pathophysiology of post-PCI restenosis involves neointimal formation that consists of three phases: thrombosis (within 24 h), recruitment (3-8 days), and proliferation, which starts on day 8 of PCI. Various factors suggested to be predictors/risks for restenosis include C-reactive protein (CRP), inflammatory mediators (cytokines and adhesion molecules), oxygen radicals, advanced glycation end products (AGEs) and their receptors (RAGE), and soluble RAGE (sRAGE). The earlier noted factors produce thrombogenesis, vascular smooth muscle cell proliferation, and extracellular matrix formation. Statins have pleiotropic effects. Besides lowering serum cholesterol, they have various other biological effects including antiinflammatory, antithrombotic, CRP-lowering, antioxidant, antimitotic, and inhibition of smooth muscle cell proliferation. They inhibit matrix metalloproteinase and cyclooxygenase-2, lower AGEs, decrease expression of RAGE and increase levels of serum sRAGE. They also increase the synthesis of nitric oxide (NO) by increasing endothelial NO synthase expression and activity. Preprocedural statin therapy is known to reduce peri- and post-PCI myonecrosis and reduce the need for repeat revascularization. There is evidence that statin-eluting stents inhibit in-stent restenosis in animal models. It is concluded that because of the above attributes of statins, they are suitable candidates for reduction of post-PCI restenosis and post-PCI myonecrosis. The future directions for the use of statins in reduction of post-PCI restenosis and myonecrosis have been discussed.

Abstract
Calprotectin has been recently described as a novel marker of obesity. The aim of this study was to determine the circulating concentrations and expression levels of calprotectin subunits (S100A8 and S100A9) in visceral adipose tissue (VAT), exploring its impact on insulin resistance and inflammation and the effect of weight loss. We included 53 subjects in the study. Gene expression levels of the S100A8/A9 complex were analyzed in VAT as well as in both adipocytes and stromovascular fraction cells (SVFCs). In addition, circulating calprotectin and soluble receptor for the advanced glycation end product (sRAGE) concentrations were measured before and after weight loss achieved by Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB) (n = 26). Circulating concentrations and VAT expression of S100A8/A9 complex were increased in normoglycemic and type 2 diabetic obese patients (P < 0.01) and associated with markers of inflammation (P < 0.01). Oppositely, concentrations of sRAGE were significantly lower (P < 0.001) in both obese groups compared to lean volunteers. Elevated calprotectin levels in obese patients decreased (P < 0.00001) after RYGB, whereas sRAGE concentrations tended to increase. Calprotectin was mainly expressed by SVFCs, and its expression was significantly correlated (P < 0.01) with mRNA levels of the monocyte-macrophage-related molecules macrophage-specific antigen CD68 (CD68), monocyte chemotactic protein 1 (MCP1), integrin α-M (CD11B), and NADPH oxidase 2 (NOX2). Tumor necrosis factor-α treatment significantly enhanced (P < 0.05) the mRNA levels of S100 calcium-binding protein A8 (S100A8) of human visceral adipocytes. The increased levels of calprotectin in obesity and obesity-associated type 2 diabetes, its positive association with inflammation as well as the higher expression levels in the SVFCs in VAT suggests a potential role of this protein as a chemotactic factor in the recruitment of macrophages to VAT, increasing inflammation and the development of obesity-associated comorbidities.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Advanced glycation end-products (AGE) accumulate in CKD and may predispose to cardiovascular disease by inducing inflammatory and oxidant stress in the vascular endothelium. Soluble forms of the receptor for AGE (RAGE) may be protective against these effects by binding AGE in the soluble phase. Accumulating evidence suggests a protective role of soluble RAGE against vascular calcification. This study investigates the association between endogenous soluble RAGE (esRAGE) and vascular calcification in hemodialysis patients. METHODS We studied 65 non-diabetic hemodialysis patients, on 3 × 4 h dialysis schedule, and 19 controls. Serum levels of esRAGE, hsCRP, parathormone, lipids, calcium, and phosphorus were measured. Aortic calcification index (ACI) was measured using non-contrast CT of the abdominal aorta. RESULTS Aortic calcification was detected in 64 out of 65 hemodialysis patients. Levels of esRAGE were lower in hemodialysis patients (278 pg/ml, SD 101.1) than in controls (443 ± 109 pg/ml; P = 0.001). ACI correlated negatively in stepwise multivariate analysis with esRAGE (P = 0.002) and positively with hsCRP (<0.0001), systolic blood pressure (P < 0.0001) and dialysis vintage (P = 0.05); R (2) = 0.65. CONCLUSION Levels of esRAGE were low among hemodialysis patients and correlated negatively with ACI.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE We aim to check if serum levels of receptor for advanced glycation endproduct (RAGE) ligands S100B, S100A6 and S100P were related to myocardial injury in acute coronary syndrome (ACS). METHODS Serum levels of S100B, S100A6, S100P, and soluble RAGE (sRAGE) were analyzed in 882 patients. Based upon clinical and laboratory findings, they were assigned into control (n=251), stable angina (n=211), and ACS (n=420). To verify clinical data of ACS, forty Sprague-Dawley rats were subjected to cardiac ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury by occluding proximal (large infarct size; n=20) or distal (small infarct size; n=20) left anterior descending coronary artery, and another 20 rats were in sham-operation group. The expressions of S100B, S100A6, S100P and RAGE in the myocardium were analyzed. RESULTS Serum levels of S100B, S100A6 and S100P were higher in ACS group than in stable angina and control groups, and sRAGE levels were higher in ACS patients versus controls (all p<0.01). S100B and S100P levels correlated significantly with CK-MB and troponin I levels in ACS group (all p<0.05). In multivariable regression analysis, S100B, S100A6, S100P and conventional risk factors were independently associated with ACS. In animal models, the expressions of S100B, S100A6 and S100P were closely related to infarct size (all p<0.05). CONCLUSION This study indicates that serum levels of S100B, S100A6 and S100P are associated with ACS, and serum levels and myocardial expression of these proteins are related to infarct size.
