Abstract
OBJECTIVE Endometrial cancer (EC) is a common malignancy of the female reproductive system and although most patients have a good prognosis, 20-30% of patients with advanced disease have a poor prognosis. There are currently no reliable biomarkers for early diagnosis and effective prognostic improvement of the disease. The purpose of this study was to explore the correlation between different forms of folic acid and endometrial cancer. METHODS This study included 8809 female subjects aged ≥ 20 years in the NHANES database from 2011 to 2018, including 8738 non-oncology patients and 71 EC patients. Selection bias was reduced using 1:1 propensity score matching (PSM) method. Restricted cubic spline (RCS) was plotted to explore the non-linear relationship between different forms of folic acid and EC. RESULT Using data from the NHANES database from 2011 to 2018, the association between folic acid and the risk of developing EC was assessed. The results of the 1:1 ratio propensity score matching (PSM) showed 68 each for EC patients and non-oncology participants. Total serum folate, 5-methyltetrahydrofolate (5-methylTHF), 5-formyltetrahydrofolate (5-formylTHF), tetrahydrofolate (THF) and 5,10-methylenetetrahydrofolate (5,10-methenylTHF) were significantly correlated with EC (p < 0.05). In addition, the RCS showed a significant non-linear correlation between THF and 5,10-formyl THF and the risk of developing EC. CONCLUSION The results of this study showed that changes in serum total folate, 5-methylTHF, 5-formylTHF, THF and 5,10-methenylTHF were related to EC.

Abstract
A simple, facile, and efficient green methodology has been developed for the synthesis of benzophenazine tethered tetrahydropyridopyrimidine derivatives by the one-pot four-component reaction of cinnamaldehyde/crotonaldehyde, 2-hydroxy-1,4-naphthoquinone, 1,3-dimethyl-6-amino uracil, and o-phenylenediamine in ethanol medium under reflux conditions using p-TSA as a catalyst. In this environmentally benign methodology, three C-N and two C-C bonds are formed in one pot. The hybrid products have three bioactive moieties such as benzophenazine, tetrahydropyridine, and pyrimidine. Operational simplicity, metal-free conditions, wide substrate scope, readily available starting materials, moderate to good yields of the desired products, presence of pharmaceutically active moieties, and easy purification process are the notable features of this methodology.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Several mechanisms are known for the anticancer effects of cisplatin. However, its most wellknown function involves binding to DNA and activating the DNA damage response. METHODS Despite its good effects, the treatment process often leads to chemoresistance and affects the mechanisms that support cell survival, such as pathways that promote cell growth, apoptosis, DNA damage repair, and endocytosis. For this reason, we investigated the effects of a new metal complex (tetradentate Schiff base zinc(II) complex) on breast cancer cells (T-47D). We evaluated its effect on cytotoxicity, apoptosis, and drug resistance in comparison to cisplatin. RESULTS The results of the MTT test showed that tetradentate Schiff base zinc(II) complex has good cytotoxicity compared to cisplatin. The IC50 values for the [Zn(SB)]Cl2 complex and cisplatin after 72 h of exposure were equal to 42.1 and 276.1 μM, respectively. Real-time PCR assay confirmed that the [Zn(SB)]Cl2 complex activated the mitochondrial pathway of apoptosis and increased the expression of Bak1 and caspase-3 genes significantly compared to cisplatin. More importantly, the [Zn(SB)]Cl2 was able to reduce the expression of the β-catenin gene, which plays a role in drug resistance, by 0.011 compared to the control. CONCLUSION Therefore, we can hope for this new complex because, without the help of any β-catenin silencing agent, it was able to inhibit the drug resistance in the T-47D cell line that overexpresses the β-catenin gene.

Progress on the natural asphalt applications as a new class of carbonious heterogeneous support; synthesis of Na[Pd-NAS] and study of its catalytic activity in the formation of carbon-carbon bonds. Mol Divers 2021; 26:1957-1967. [PMID: 34505952 DOI: 10.1007/s11030-021-10306-3] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [Track Full Text] [Journal Information] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 07/09/2021] [Accepted: 08/26/2021] [Indexed: 10/20/2022]
Abstract
In continuation of our recent research on introducing natural asphalt as a new carbonious, eco-friendly, highly economical support, and also in addition to our plan to develop its application in heterogeneous catalyst chemistry, palladium grafted on natural asphalt sulfonate (Na [Pd-NAS]), was prepared and characterized using usual spectroscopy techniques. This new carbon-based heterogeneous nanocatalyst was successfully applied as an efficient catalyst for the Suzuki, Stille and Heck reactions under mild and sustainable conditions. The reaction of various aryl halides with triphenyltin chloride, phenylboronic acid or n-butyl acrylate provided the corresponding products with moderate to good yields. Na [Pd-NAS] was characterized by FT-IR spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, energy-dispersive spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, inductively coupled plasma, thermogravimetric analysis techniques and N2 adsorption-desorption measurement. SEM image illustrated that the Na [Pd-NAS] has vermicular and flaky shapes. According to the IUPAC classiication, the sample exhibited IV type curves. More importantly, this ligand-free catalyst is stable under the reaction conditions. Besides, the catalyst was separated by simple filtration and reused for the several times without any deterioration in its activity. In this research we report Na[Pd-NAS] as a versatile and reusable nanocatalyst for the C-C coupling reactions.
