Abstract
In this work, the xanthene dye, erythrosine B, was employed as a probe for the determination of olanzapine using two fast and highly simple analytical approaches. The assay was based on the formation of a binary complex between the drug and erythrosine B in a slightly acidic aqueous buffered solution. In the first method, the absorbance of the formed product was monitored at 558 nm. The reaction stoichiometry was investigated, and the stability constant of the formed complex was estimated. The linear range of the method that obeyed Beer's law was in the concentration range of 0.6-8.0 µg/ml. The calculated detection and quantitation limits were 0.2 and 0.6 µg/mL. Upon adding the drug solution to erythrosine B, the native fluorescence of the dye was quenched and monitored at 550 nm after excitation at 528 nm. Thus, the fluorescence quenching was utilized as the quantitative signal in the spectrofluorimetric approach. The extent of quenching in the fluorescence intensity was rectilinear with the drug concentration in a range of 0.1-2.5 µg/ml with a detection limit of 0.032 µg/ml. Both approaches were analytically validated based on the guiding rules of the ICH with acceptable results, and were utilized efficiently in the analysis of olanzapine in commercial tablets containing the cited drug. In addition, owing to its high sensitivity and selectivity, the spectrofluorimetric method was applied for drug analysis in spiked human plasma with satisfactory % recoveries. Finally, the greenness of the methods was confirmed using eco-score scale and Analytical Green Evaluation metrics.

Abstract
Background: The increasing prevalence of poisoning cases related to antidepressants and antipsychotics has raised concerns. Methods: To address this issue, a new adaptation of the dried plasma spot technique was developed using a 24-well plate and fast gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. The method involves the optimization of extraction variables and sample preparation, and was successfully validated. Results: The limits of quantitation ranged from 20 to 60 ng/ml, and accuracy ranged from 87.8% to 112.2%. The technique was applied to 102 human plasma samples from suspected poisoning cases, with positivity of 90.2%. Conclusion: This method provides a cheap, easy to implement and fast approach, making it ideal for toxicological emergency laboratories and promoting valuable support for healthcare professionals managing poisoning cases involving antidepressants and antipsychotics.

Abstract
The interaction of Venlafaxine Hydrochloride (VLX) with Erythrosine B was investigated by resonance Rayleigh scattering (RRS) spectroscopic technique. In acetate buffer (pH 3.4), erythrosine B reacted with VLX to form 1:1 ion pair complex with concomitant enhancement in RRS intensity which was measured at 330 nm. In addition, the stability constant and the change in free energy of the reaction were estimated. Based on this interaction a new method was developed for the sensitive VLX analysis using Erythrosine B as a probe. The results indicated that this method had a good selectivity in the presence of coexisting compounds. The scattering intensity (ΔIRRS ) was linearly depended on VLX concentration over the range of 0.04-1.0 μg mL-1 with determination coefficient (r) of 0.9998. The detection (LOD) and quantitation limits (LOQ) were 0.01 and 0.03 μg mL-1 , respectively. This method could be suitably employed to the VLX analysis in pharmaceutical capsules and human plasma.

Abstract
Aim: Routine therapeutic drug monitoring is highly recommended since common antidepressant combinations increase the risk of drug-drug interactions or overlapping toxicity. Materials & methods: A magnetic solid-phase extraction by using C18-functionalized magnetic silica nanoparticles (C18-Fe3O4@SiO2 NPs) as sorbent was proposed for rapid extraction of venlafaxine, paroxetine, fluoxetine, norfluoxetine and sertraline from clinical plasma and urine samples followed by ultra-HPLC-MS/MS assay. Results: The synthesized C18-Fe3O4@SiO2 NPs showed high magnetization and efficient extraction for the analytes. After cleanup by magnetic solid-phase extraction, no matrix effects were found in plasma and urine matrices. The analytes showed LODs among 0.15-0.75 ng ml-1, appropriate linearity (R ≥ 0.9990) from 2.5 to 1000 ng ml-1, acceptable accuracies 89.1-110.9% with precisions ≤11.0%. The protocol was successfully applied for the analysis of patients' plasma and urine samples. Conclusion: It shows high potential in routine therapeutic drug monitoring of clinical biological samples.

Abstract
Mirtazapine is one of antidepression which is used mainly in the treatment of depression, moreover, it is sometimes used in the treatment of anxiety disorders, insomnia, nausea, and vomiting, and to produce weight gain when desirable. The action of mirtazapine is an antagonist of certain adrenergic and serotonin receptors, and, furthermore, the drug is used strong as antihistamine, and it is occasionally defined as a noradrenergic and specific serotonergic antidepressant (NaSSA). The comprehensive profile of mirtazapine gives more detailed information about nomenclature, formulae, elemental analysis, and appearance. In addition, the numerous methods of drug synthesis are summarized. Also the profile covers the physicochemical properties as: the value of pKa, drug solubility, melting point, X-ray powder diffraction, and analysis methods for example: (compendial, electrochemical, spectroscopic, and method of chromatographic). Besides that, the profile covered pharmacological profile and clinical pharmacokinetics in subtitle's (absorption, distribution, metabolism, and elimination). About 100 references were given as a proof of the above-mentioned studies.

Abstract
A method based on the analysis of trimethylsilyl (TMS) derivatives by capillary gas chromatography electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (GC-ESI/MS) was proposed. To improve separation, analytes were derivatized to their TMS derivative. During ESI analysis, TMS derivatives may hydrolyze back to their polar native form and are thus suitable for ESI analysis. Several types of analytes were studied to investigate the potential of the approach. Not all TMS derivatives hydrolyzed back to their native form as anticipated. Incomplete hydrolysis was observed for TMS-organic acids and TMS-nonchlorinated phenols. For TMS-chlorophenols, the observation of only the [M - H]- ion suggested that these phenols were hydrolyzed back to their native form. For TMS-beta agonists, the hydrolysis rate was low; therefore, the hydrolysis product was not detected. Both TMS-chlorophenols and TMS-beta agonists provide a sensitivity in the range of low parts per billion (0.25-5 ng/ml and 0.5-10 ng/ml respectively). Copyright © 2016 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
