Abstract
Organic single-crystalline semiconductors with long-range periodic order have attracted much attention for potential applications in electronic and optoelectronic devices due to their high carrier mobility, highly thermal stability, and low impurity content. Molecular doping has been proposed as a valuable strategy for improving the performance of organic semiconductors and semiconductor-based devices. However, a fundamental understanding of the inherent doping mechanism is still a key challenge impeding its practical application. In this study, solid evidence for the "perfect" substitutional doping mechanism of the stacking mode between the guest and host molecules in organic single-crystalline semiconductors using polarized photoluminescence spectrum measurements and first-principles calculations is provided. The molecular host-guest doping is further exploited for efficient color-tunable and even white organic single-crystal-based light-emitting devices by controlling the doping concentration. The clarification of the molecular doping mechanism in organic single-crystalline semiconductor host-guest system paves the way for their practical application in high-performance electronic and optoelectronic devices.

Abstract
Following the development of photoluminescence systems with various compositions, some nontraditional structures, including nonaromatic organic systems as fluorophores and organic luminogens as the source of phosphorescence emission at room temperature, have attracted considerable attention for their advantages in biological and medical applications, and for the updated photophysical understandings in science. In this Review, the recent progress in understanding these organic compounds or polymers for fluorescence and phosphorescence is briefly summarized, with the aim of exploring the intrinsic principle of these novel photoluminescence systems and providing reasonable constructs for molecular design. Finally, some prospects are suggested for further development of this continually expanding area of research, with the coined concept of Molecular Uniting Set Identified Characteristic (MUSIC).

Abstract
Theoretical simulations were designed by first principles approach of density functional theory to investigate the structural and optoelectronic properties of different structural classes of perylene; isolated perylene, diindeno[1,2,3-cd:1′,2′,3′-lm]perylene (DIP) molecule and DIP molecular crystal. The presence of molecular interactions in DIP crystal proved its structure-dependent behaviours. The herringbone molecular arrangement of DIP crystal has influenced the electronic properties by triggering the intermolecular interactions that reduced the energy gaps between HOMO and LUMO of the crystal. Strong hybridization resulting from dense charges population near zero Fermi energy has pushed valence band maxima in the density of states of all perylene structures to higher energies. Under small energy input, charges are transferred continuously as observed in the spectra of conductivity and dielectric. The existence of strong absorption intensities are consistent with the former works and supported by the obtained polarized reflectivity and loss spectra. ![]()

Abstract
Pressure-induced emission enhancement (PIEE), a novel phenomenon in the enhancement of the solid-state emission efficiency of fluorophores, has been arousing wide attention in recent years. However, research on PIEE is still in the early stage. To further pursue more enhanced efficiency, discovering and designing more PIEE systems would be urgently desirable and of great importance. In this Letter, we found that carbazole presented a conspicuous emission enhancement under high pressure up to 1.0 GPa. In situ high-pressure infrared spectroscopy and angle-dispersive X-ray diffraction analysis combined with Hirshfeld surface theory calculation indicated that the PIEE of carbazole was attributed to the decrease of the nonradiation vibration process. This phenomenon mainly resulted from restriction of the N-H stretching vibration by increased N-H···π interactions under high pressure. Our study puts forward a mechanism of PIEE related to the restriction of intramolecular vibration, which provided deep insight into the essential role of intermolecular interaction in fluorescence emission properties.

Abstract
Polyfluorene and its derivatives have been recognized as efficient light-emitting semiconductors. However, directional alignment of polyfluorene copolymers at a large scale has rarely been observed, in particular for the two relatively more amorphous members of poly-9,9-dioctylfluorene-co-bethiadisazole (F8BT) and poly-(9,9-dioctylfluorenyl-2,7-diyl)-co-(N,N0-diphenyl)-N,N′di(p-butyl-oxy-pheyl)-1,4-diamino-benzene) (PFB) molecules. Furthermore, the directional alignment of PFB has not been observed so far due to the triphenylamine units in its molecular structures. We present, in this work, a solution-processible method to achieve large-scale alignment of F8BT and PFB molecules into fibers as long as millimeters in a defined direction. Spin-coating the polymer film on to a glass substrate patterned by one-dimensional dielectric nano-grating structures through interference lithography and subsequent modification using 1,5-pentanediol have been used in all of the preparation procedures. Polymer fibers have been obtained in an arrangement parallel to the grating lines. The microscopic, spectroscopic, and photoconductive performances verified the formation and the quality of these directionally-aligned polymeric fibers.

Abstract
It has been difficult to decipher the mechanistic issue whether E/Z isomerization is involved in the aggregation-induced emission (AIE) process of a tetraphenylethene (TPE) derivative, due to the difficulty in the synthesis of its pure E and Z conformers. In this work, pure stereoisomers of a TPE derivative named 1,2-bis{4-[1-(6-phenoxyhexyl)-4-(1,2,3-triazol)yl]phenyl}-1,2-diphenylethene (BPHTATPE) are successfully synthesized. Both isomers show remarkable AIE effect (α(AIE) ≥ 322) and high fluorescence quantum yield in the solid state (Φ(F) 100%). The conformers readily undergo E/Z isomerization upon exposure to a powerful UV light and treatment at a high temperature (>200 °C). Such conformational change, however, is not observed under normal fluorescence spectrum measurement conditions, excluding the involvement of the E/Z isomerization in the AIE process of the TPE-based luminogen. The molecules of (E)-BPHTATPE self-organize into ordered one-dimensional nanostructures such as microfibers and nanorods that show obvious optical waveguide effect. BPHTATPE shows rich chromic effects, including mechano-, piezo-, thermo-, vapo-, and chronochromisms. Its emission peak is bathochromically shifted by simple grinding and pressurization and the spectral change is reversed by fuming with a polar solvent, heating at a high temperature, or storing at room temperature for some time. The multiple chromic processes are all associated with changes in the modes of molecular packing.
