Abstract
BACKGROUND Vaccination is a key issue in patients with immunomodulated inflammatory diseases on immune-mediated therapy. Still, vaccination rates in these patients are low. This study aimed to assess the knowledge and fears of patients with immune-mediated inflammatory diseases (IMIDs) regarding vaccines, with the ultimate goal of increasing vaccination rates through the definition and implementation of more effective communication strategies with the patient. METHODS This study was conducted in a Portuguese hospital, between January 2019-December 2020, and included adult patients with an IMID. A questionnaire was developed and applied to evaluate knowledge and fears regarding vaccines. RESULTS From the 275 included patients, more than 90% answered correctly to all questions on general knowledge, with an exception for the question related to protection from severe disease, without differences between age groups or education levels, except for the question about vaccine contraindications (P = 0.017). Regarding vaccines in immunocompromised hosts, the proportion of correct answers was lower and significantly different between education levels (P = 0.00-0.042),. More than 50% of the participants showed moderate to very high concern about several aspects of vaccines, with differences between age groups (P = 0.018). CONCLUSION Our patients have general knowledge of vaccines but regarding vaccines in immunocompromised patients knowledge is lower and dependent on the education level. In addition, age influences the pattern of concerns related to vaccines. The information gathered in this study shall be considered to identify potential local interventions targeted to improve vaccination.

Abstract
Introduction: Health literacy is one of the effective factors in health promotion of chronic patients. However, little attention has been paid to it; no exact and clear definition of health literacy has ever been accessible in chronic diseases. This study was conducted with aim of defining and clarifying attributes, antecedents, and consequences of health literacy in multiple sclerosis (MS) patients. Methods: Rodgers’ evolutionary method of concept analysis was used to clarify the concept of health literacy in MS patients. A literature review was conducted with key terms "multiple sclerosis", "health literacy", "information literacy", "functional health", "health education", "health promotion" and "health behavior". Eight hundred and sixty papers for the period 1980– 2019 were found and finally 23 articles and texts were selected for the analysis. Data analysis was carried out using a thematic analysis. Results: Health literacy in MS patients is a multidimensional concept with forth attributes: health information evaluation, understand disease and its related issues, reading skills and capacity to use knowledge. Ability to read and comprehend, interacting with health personnel, and interacting with peers as an antecedents and improved self-care, health promotion, medication adherence, and decreased use of health care services to be the consequences of these attributes were found. Conclusion: The findings can add knowledge about the concept of health literacy in MS patients. Also, health care professionals can use a deeper understanding of the concept of health literacy in providing care plan for MS patients.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION AND AIM High blood pressure is the leading and most important modifiable risk factor for cardiovascular disease. Health literacy and lifestyle are two paramount key factors behind better control of hypertension. This study was conducted to examine the current situation of health literacy and health-promoting lifestyle and its association with blood pressure control among people affected by hypertension in the population over age 30 of Northwest Iran. PATIENTS AND METHODS This was a cross-sectional study conducted in October and December 2018 on the over 30-year-old population among subjects suffering from hypertension (n= 210). A self-reported questionnaire was used for assessing health literacy dimensions and lifestyle. RESULTS In hierarchical linear analysis, the HL explained 33.9% of the variance in healthy lifestyle. Among HL dimensions, the ability to access health information and decision-making were significantly associated with healthy lifestyle. The health literacy dimensions contributed to an additional significant increase in 4.7% of the variance explained in hypertension, furthermore, the health-promoting lifestyle items were explained an additional 14.8% of the hypertension variance. In total, lifestyle and health literacy dimensions were able to explain 21.7% of the variance in hypertension. CONCLUSION Our study encourages efforts to monitor health literacy in people with hypertension and investigate associations with involvement with health-promoting lifestyle.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The role of health literacy on tuberculosis patients has not been evaluated in China, in part because few special health literacy measurements exist. METHODS A three-step design process was used: (1) Scale construction: Based on the model of revised Bloom's taxonomy, the item-pool was drafted from a literature review, focus group discussion, and in-depth interviews. In addition, a Delphi survey was used in order to select items for inclusion in the scales; (2) Pilot study: Acceptability and clarity were tested with 60 tuberculosis patients; and (3) Psychometric testing: Validity analysis includes content validity, construct validity, and discriminative validity. The Cronbach's alpha coefficient, split-half reliability, and test-retest method were used to assess reliability. Finally, a receiver operating characteristic analysis was conducted to generate a cut-off point. RESULTS The final scale had 29 items with four domains. The item level Content Validity Index ranged from 0.70 to 1.0, and the scale level Content Validity Index was 0.95. The mean score among the lowest 27% group was significantly lower than that those of the highest 27% group (p < 0.01), which supports adequate discriminant validity. Explanatory factor analysis produced a clear four-factor construct, explaining 47.254% of the total variance. Factor 1 and Factor 2 were consistent with read and memorize TB-related words; Factor 3 was associated with understand the meaning of the health education leaflets and examine if TB patients can apply the correct approach to correct context; Factor 4 was related to the ability of TB patient to calculate and identify what unspecified assumptions are included in known conditions. The confirmatory factory analysis results confirmed that a four-factor model was an acceptable fit to the data, with a goodness-of-fit index = 0.930, adjusted goodness of fit index = 0.970, root mean square error of approximation = 0.069, and χ2/df = 2.153. The scale had good internal consistency and test-retest reliability. Additionally, the receiver operating characteristic analysis indicated that the cut-off point for the instrument was set at 45 and 35. CONCLUSIONS The Chinese Health Literacy scale for Tuberculosis has good reliability and validity, and it could be used for measuring the health literacy of Chinese patients with tuberculosis.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Hospital leaders, policymakers and healthcare professionals are realising the benefits of delivering care that promotes family participation because it is known to enhance the quality of care, and improve patient satisfaction. AIM The aim of this study was to explore, from the perspective of patients and family members within an adult acute care ward: (a) their beliefs and attitudes towards family participation in patient care and (b) staff behaviours that support or hinder family participation in patient care. DESIGN AND METHODS A naturalistic approach with an exploratory sequential design was used in a medical assessment and planning unit of a regional referral hospital in Australia. Purposeful maximum variation sampling was used to recruit patients and family members who differed in age, ethnicity, relationship to patient and gender. Observer-as-participant observation data and semi-structured interviews were undertaken. Following separate inductive content analysis, data were triangulated. RESULTS Thirty-two patients and 26 family members were recruited. Thirty hours of observational data were gathered. Eighteen patients and 15 family members were interviewed. Analysis uncovered two contrasting categories: (a) disconnected communication and (b) family influence quality. CONCLUSION The findings of our study demonstrated that most patients and families perceived staff communication as disconnected and inadequate, which constrained them from engaging in care processes or decision-making. However, when family felt empowered and participated in patient care, the quality of health care was enhanced. Healthcare professionals can use these findings to make informed evidence-based changes to the way they practice and communicate to ensure family participation in patient care is optimised in the acute care setting.
