Managerial decisions and new product development in the circular economy model enterprise: absorptive capacity and a mediating role of strategic orientation

The study explains the flow of knowledge in the circular economy model enterprises. We analyze the impact of managerial decisions on the absorptive capacity, which is new product development, considering the role of critical elements of strategic orientation (innovation and costs) in the textile industry. Based on the verification of hypotheses by employing the SEM method, innovation orientation is a mediator between adaptability-oriented decisions and transformation, and between adaptability-oriented decisions and exploitation. Ambidexterity-oriented decisions affect absorptive capacity. These findings semanticize and extend previous research, indicating that strategic activities focused on eco-innovations are transformed into the process of creating a new product.

Idea Management Systems in Developing Innovation Capacity

This paper aims to identify the different idea management system (IMS) types impact on innovation capacity and to support companies in the selection of the most appropriate IMS approach. The main findings of the research indicate the following: First, the application of active IMS stimulates innovation culture more than the application of passive IMS. Second, the application of active IMS improves innovation potential more than the application of passive IMS. Third, the application of the internal IMS type provides higher innovation potential than the application of the external IMS type. Lastly, there is evidence that the application of active IMS accelerates innovation at a higher pace than the application of passive IMS.

Goods and Services Tax (GST) Implementation in India: A SAP-LAP-Twitter Analytic Perspective

In a federal structure, India's determination to much-needed fiscal reforms has been widely applauded at its face value when she relinquished her previous complex and inefficient tax regime to embrace the long-awaited Goods and Services Tax (GST). It has been a significant economic move post-independence and requires validation of facts after its introduction. The present study aims to present a general macroeconomic analysis of the extent to which the adoption of GST has improved existing tax administration and resultant general economic well-being of a democratic political economy like India in light of innovation implementation theoretical perspective. Further, the study tried to determine how the stakeholders perceived such big-bang reform even after the three years of its adoption. The study attempted to assess to what extent the adoption of GST has indeed influenced the economy in general and citizens and/or consumers in particular while using a case-based qualitative inquiry. The present research applied the situation-actor-process; learning-action-performance analysis framework for the case analysis. The facts reveal that India has observed a tremendous increase in tax base vis-à-vis revenue collection. Yet, some efforts are desired to improve the low tax to GDP ratio, skewed GST payers base, negative stakeholders' perception of GST (revealed through Twitter sentiment analysis), and the evil of tax evasion. The other merits realized by the economy are presented as benefits to the consumers, MSMEs, improved ease of doing business ranking, and foster make-in-India and AatmanirbharBharat move by the government.

Innovation in Start-Up Business Model in Energy-Saving Solutions for Sustainable Development

Socially expected innovations are innovations considering sustainable development. The subject of the paper focuses on the business model of a start-up providing energy saving services to local government units using smart technologies of Industry 4.0 in the aspect of low touch economy. A methodical critical literature review including quantitative and qualitative assessment, stakeholder analysis and business modeling techniques using Business Model Canvas and Triple Layer Business Model Canvas (TLBMC) was conducted. In addition, an in-depth analysis of a start-up case study was conducted. The research questions are related to the interpretation of the organization’s business data and methods of interpreting Sustainability 3.0 business solutions. The research questions were directed to the challenges regarding the creation of the organization’s sustainable business model architecture and the Business Sustainability 3.0 sustainable business imaging concept. The research objective is to design a sustainable business model of a start-up providing energy-efficient services to local government units, whose value proposition refers to an extended sustainable value that meets the economic, social and environmental needs of society. The integration of sustainability in the sustainable business model of the start-up allowed to achieve the research objective of designing a sustainable value proposition that meets the economic, social and environmental needs of society.

New ways of working and intrapreneurial behaviour: the mediating role of transformational leadership and social interaction

To promote innovativeness and efficiency, an increasing number of firms have adopted New ways of working (NWW). However, it is not clear what effect NWW has on innovation-related outcomes, such as intrapreneurial behaviour. Therefore, we provide a first investigation on the relation between the facets of NWW and intrapreneurial behaviour, while testing transformational leadership and co-worker social interaction as mediators. We use a sample of 254 employees of the Dutch working population and apply the Preacher and Hayes’ (Behav Res Methods 40(3):879–891, 2008) bootstrap method for multiple mediation to test our hypotheses. We find that NWW facets time- and location-independent work and management on output are positively related to intrapreneurial behaviour. In addition, we find that the relation between a freely accessible open workplace and intrapreneurial behaviour is mediated by transformational leadership. However, we find no relationship between co-worker social interaction and intrapreneurial behaviour and thus no mediating role for social interaction. Our research adds to the budding literature on the effects of NWW and to the literature on the determinants of intrapreneurial behaviour. We conclude that implementation of several NWW facets and a transformational leadership style could help foster intrapreneurial behaviour among employees, and that future research that further enhances the measurement of the NWW facets and investigates its configurational effects on intrapreneurial behaviour is welcome.
