Abstract
BACKGROUND Increased detection of non-functioning adrenal incidentalomas (NFAI) due to widespread abdominal imaging may underestimate associated metabolic risks. To examine NFAI's impact on metabolic comorbidities and evaluate outcomes in surgical and non-surgical management, including changes in NFAI characteristics during follow-up. METHODS Meta-analysis of studies from PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, and Web of Science (January 2000 to May 2024). Studies focusing on patients with serum cortisol levels ≤ 50 nmol/L after 1 mg dexamethasone suppression test (DST). Prevalence of hypertension, diabetes, obesity, and lipid disorders before and after follow-up. Tumor growth (> 10 mm increase) and functional changes (1 mg DST retest) were assessed. RESULTS Eighteen studies met inclusion criteria (n = 2,059). In the non-surgical group, diabetes (RR: 1.33, 95% CI: 1.07-1.65) and lipid disorders (RR: 1.22, 95% CI: 1.07-1.38) increased significantly, while hypertension (RR: 1.07, 95% CI: 0.99-1.16) and obesity (RR: 1.05, 95% CI: 0.91-1.21) showed no significant change. Surgical intervention significantly improved hypertension (RR: 0.67, 95% CI: 0.52-0.86). During mean follow-up of 46.1 months, 4% (95% CI: 2%- 8%) of NFAI enlarged > 10 mm, while 8% (95% CI: 5%- 14%) became functional during 45.1 months of follow-up. CONCLUSIONS In patients with NFAI, subtle hormone secretion may exist despite current diagnostic criteria suggesting non-functionality. Such tumors show significant associations with metabolic disorders, particularly diabetes mellitus and dyslipidemia. Future research should focus on developing more sensitive diagnostic methods and establishing evidence-based surgical intervention criteria through prospective studies.

Abstract
PURPOSE Adrenal incidentalomas (AIs) and pituitary incidentalomas (PIs) have become frequent findings in the last two decades due to the widespread use of cross-sectional imaging in clinical practice. This review investigates the prevalence of endogenous hypercortisolism in patients with AIs and PIs. We aim to underscore the importance of early detection and management of endogenous hypercortisolism in this subset of patients to mitigate associated cardiometabolic complications and reduce mortality. METHODS We performed a PubMed literature search to provide updates regarding the prevalence of endogenous hypercortisolism in patients with AIs and PIs, the demographic and clinical characteristics of the studied populations, and the diagnostic test accuracy for early identification of endogenous hypercortisolism. RESULTS Hypercortisolism, especially mild autonomous cortisol secretion (MACS), was identified in a notable proportion of patients with AIs. MACS was associated with increased cardiometabolic risks, contributing to an elevated overall mortality rate in this cohort. Furthermore, PIs were found to be linked with Cushing's disease in a subset of patients, emphasizing the need for thorough evaluation and monitoring. CONCLUSION Early diagnosis and appropriate management of endogenous hypercortisolism are essential in preventing complications and improving patient outcomes. As the presence of undetected hypercortisolism is associated with clinical complications over time, the accurate identification of high-risk populations to screen remains crucial.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE This document presents the findings of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinology (AACE) on the diagnosis, management, and surveillance of patients with multiple endocrine neoplasia type 1 (MEN1) and associated tumors. The task force included a diverse group of experts in endocrinology, oncology, genetics, surgery, and patient representation. A comprehensive literature review was conducted to address key issues related to the evaluation, surveillance, and treatment of MEN1-related tumors. METHODS The task force, comprised of 9 members with expertise in endocrinology, surgery, medical oncology, genetics, and patient advocacy, collaborated to develop guidance for the evaluation, surveillance, and management of MEN1-associated tumors. Consensus was defined as ≤1 dissenting vote and significant majority as ≥75%. Relevant studies were identified through a literature review process, and consensus statements were based on the available evidence. RESULTS The task force deliberated on the surveillance, evaluation, and management of MEN1-related tumors including parathyroid, pituitary, and gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumors and other tumors of relevance. The document also addresses the indications for MEN1 genetic testing. CONCLUSIONS This consensus statement aims to offer evidence-informed guidance for health care providers involved in the care of patients with MEN1 and associated tumors. It provides guidance on diagnostic tools, genetic testing criteria, imaging techniques, surgical interventions, and posttreatment monitoring. The practical, patient-centered approach outlined in this document is intended to improve outcomes for individuals with MEN1 and other high-risk endocrine tumors.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Advances in imaging methods have led to an increasingly frequent diagnosis of adrenal gland lesions as incidental findings. Despite progress in this field, there is still limited information regarding the epidemiology of the clinical and metabolic profile of patients with adrenal incidentaloma (AI). The objective is analyze the epidemiology of adrenal tumors at Gaffrée e Guinle University Hospital (HUGG) and compare it with data from the literature. METHOD This is a cross-sectional study that included patients of any gender and age who was treated at HUGG for adrenal tumors. RESULTS The following variables were evaluated: age, gender, functionality, benignity, and size. We also analyzed the metabolic profile of patients with AI, specifically those with mild autonomy cortisol secretion. Out of 31 patients with adrenal tumors, 68% were female. The mean age was 55 years with a standard deviation of ±16.2. 54% of the sample had adrenal incidentalomas. 93.6% of the sample had benign cases. Among the adrenal incidentalomas, 53% were non-functioning. In patients with adrenal tumors, only 10% had metabolic syndrome, while in patients with mild autonomous cortisol secretion, this number rose to 17%. CONCLUSION The sample of patients with adrenal tumors and incidentaloma at HUGG presented a prevalence of metabolic complications similar to that found in the literature.

Abstract
PURPOSE Adrenal venous sampling (AVS) is recommended for subtyping primary aldosteronism (PA). However, in cases of PA, concurrent subclinical Cushing's syndrome (SCS) has the potential to confound AVS results. Pentixafor, a CXC chemokine receptor type 4-specific ligand, has been reported as a promising marker to evaluate functional nature of adrenal adenomas. This study aims to investigate the clinical value of Gallium-68 Pentixafor Positron Emission Tomography-Computed Tomography (68Ga-Pentixafor PET/CT) in the localization diagnosis of patients with PA plus SCS. METHODS Two patients with a confirmed diagnosis of PA plus SCS underwent AVS and 68Ga-Pentixafor PET/CT. RESULTS AVS results revealed no lateralization for both patients while 68Ga-Pentixafor PET/CT showed a unilateral adrenal nodule with increased uptake of 68Ga-Pentixafor. Unilateral adrenalectomy was performed based on the results of 68Ga-Pentixafor PET/CT. Subsequently, complete biochemical remission of autonomous aldosterone and cortisol secretion were achieved in both cases. CONCLUSIONS 68Ga-Pentixafor PET/CT shows promising potential for the localization of aldosterone and cortisol co-secreting adrenal adenoma in patients with PA plus SCS.

Abstract
The number of adrenal incidentaloma (AI) cases has increased in the last few years due to the widespread use of imaging diagnostics. Management requires evaluation of the malignant nature and hormonal activity. The aim of the present study is to assess possible clinical abnormalities in 132 AI patients both at baseline and during follow-up (mean 48.6 ± 12.5 months). In all patients, demographic, anthropometric data, biochemical, metabolic and hormonal data, and 24-h ambulatory blood pressure monitoring were assessed. Mild autonomous cortisol secretions (MACS) were diagnosed in patients without signs and symptoms of overt Cushing's syndrome and post dexamethasone (DXM) plasma cortisol concentration > 50 nmol/L (>1.8 μg/dL). Patients with overnight DXM-1 mg test positive showed higher values of diastolic blood pressure, glycemia and uric acid levels compared to patients with negative DXM test at baseline. During follow-up, the potential development of MACS in patients with nonfunctional AI showed a prevalence of 29%, though the cardiovascular and metabolic alterations were less pronounced compared to those diagnosed with MACS at baseline. Therefore, follow-ups with AI patients are useful for observing changes in clinical features.

Abstract
Non-functioning adrenal incidentalomas (NFAIs) have been placed in relationship with a higher risk of glucose profile anomalies, while the full-blown typical picture of Cushing's syndrome (CS) and associated secondary (glucocorticoid-induced) diabetes mellitus is not explicitly confirmed in this instance. Our objective was to highlight the most recent data concerning the glucose profile, particularly, type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) in NFAIs with/without mild autonomous cortisol secretion (MACS). This was a comprehensive review of the literature; the search was conducted according to various combinations of key terms. We included English-published, original studies across a 5-year window of publication time (from January 2020 until 1 April 2024) on PubMed. We excluded case reports, reviews, studies on T1DM or secondary diabetes, and experimental data. We identified 37 studies of various designs (14 retrospective studies as well 13 cross-sectional, 4 cohorts, 3 prospective, and 2 case-control studies) that analysed 17,391 individuals, with a female-to-male ratio of 1.47 (aged between 14 and 96 years). T2DM prevalence in MACS (affecting 10 to 30% of NFAIs) ranged from 12% to 44%. The highest T2DM prevalence in NFAI was 45.2% in one study. MACS versus (non-MACS) NFAIs (n = 16) showed an increased risk of T2DM and even of prediabetes or higher fasting plasma glucose or HbA1c (no unanimous results). T2DM prevalence was analysed in NFAI (N = 1243, female-to-male ratio of 1.11, mean age of 60.42) versus (non-tumour) controls (N = 1548, female-to-male ratio of 0.91, average age of 60.22) amid four studies, and two of them were confirmatory with respect to a higher rate in NFAIs. Four studies included a sub-group of CS compared to NFAI/MACS, and two of them did not confirm an increased rate of glucose profile anomalies in CS versus NFAIs/ACS. The longest period of follow-up with concern to the glycaemic profile was 10.5 years, and one cohort showed a significant increase in the T2DM rate at 17.9% compared to the baseline value of 0.03%. Additionally, inconsistent data from six studies enrolling 1039 individuals that underwent adrenalectomy (N = 674) and conservative management (N = 365) pinpointed the impact of the surgery in NFAIs. The regulation of the glucose metabolism after adrenalectomy versus baseline versus conservative management (n = 3) was improved. To our knowledge, this comprehensive review included one of the largest recent analyses in the field of glucose profile amid the confirmation of MACS/NFAI. In light of the rising incidence of NFAI/AIs due to easier access to imagery scans and endocrine evaluation across the spectrum of modern medicine, it is critical to assess if these patients have an increased frequency of cardio-metabolic disorders that worsen their overall comorbidity and mortality profile, including via the confirmation of T2DM.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Radical surgery is a common treatment for patients with gastric cancer; however, it can lead to postoperative complications and intestinal barrier dysfunction. Ultrasound-guided quadratus lumborum block is often used for postoperative analgesia, but its effects on stress response and intestinal barrier function are not well understood. AIM To investigate the effects of an ultrasound-guided quadratus lumborum block on stress response and intestinal barrier function in patients undergoing radical surgery for gastric cancer. METHODS A total of 100 patients undergoing radical surgery for gastric cancer were randomly categorized into observation and control groups. Plasma adrenaline and cortisol levels, intestinal mucosal barrier indexes, and complication rates were compared between the two groups before, during, and 1 day after surgery. RESULTS The observation group had significantly lower plasma adrenaline and cortisol levels during surgery and at 1 day postoperatively than that of the control group (P < 0.05). Additionally, intestinal barrier indexes (endotoxin and D-dimer) at 1 day postoperatively were significantly lower in the observation group than in the control group (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION Ultrasound-guided quadratus lumborum block could reduce stress response, protect intestinal barrier function, and decrease the incidence of complications in patients undergoing radical surgery for gastric cancer. This technique has the potential for clinical applications.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To assess (1) comorbidities associated with and (2) treatment strategies for patients with adrenal incidentalomas and mild autonomous cortisol secretion (MACS; > 1.8 µg/dL (>50 nmol/L) cortisol level cut-off following the 1 mg dexamethasone suppression test). DESIGN Systematic review and meta-analysis. METHODS Seven databases were searched up to July 14, 2022. Eligible studies were (randomized) trials, cohort studies, and cross-sectional studies assessing comorbidities potentially attributable to cortisol excess or mortality in patients with adrenal incidentaloma with or without MACS or the effects of conservative or surgical management of MACS. Random-effects meta-analysis was performed to estimate pooled proportions (with 95% CIs). RESULTS In 30 cross-sectional and 16 cohort studies (n = 17 156 patients in total), patients with MACS had a higher prevalence of diabetes (relative risk [RR] 1.44 [1.23-1.69]), hypertension (RR = 1.24 [1.16-1.32]), and dyslipidemia (RR = 1.23 [1.13-1.34]). All-cause mortality (adjusted for confounders) in patients with MACS, assessed in 4 studies (n = 5921), was increased (hazard ratio [HR] = 1.54 [1.27-1.81]). Nine observational studies (n = 856) and 2 randomized trials (n = 107) suggest an improvement in glucometabolic control (RR = 7.99 [2.95-21.90]), hypertension (RR = 8.75 [3.99-19.18]), and dyslipidemia (RR = 3.24 [1.19-8.82]) following adrenalectomy. CONCLUSIONS The present systematic review and meta-analysis highlight the relevance of MACS, since both cardiometabolic morbidities and mortality appeared to have increased in patients with MACS compared to patients with non-functioning incidentalomas. However, due to heterogeneous definitions, various outcomes, selective reporting, and missing data, the reported pooled estimates need to be interpreted with caution. The small number of patients in randomized trials prevents any strong conclusion on the causality between MACS and these comorbidities.

Abstract
CONTEXT Adrenal hyperfunction is associated with an increased risk of cardiometabolic complications in subjects with adrenal incidentaloma (AI). Reliable prevalence estimates of functioning AIs are important to direct resources allocations. OBJECTIVE To assess the prevalence of autonomous/possible autonomous cortisol secretion (ACS), primary aldosteronism (PA), pheochromocytoma (PHEO), and Cushing syndrome (CS) in patients with AI. METHODS We performed a comprehensive search of multiple databases (PubMed, Ovid MEDLINE, Web of Science) for potentially relevant studies without language restriction, up to February 2022. Of the 1661 publications evaluated at title and abstract levels, 161 were examined as full text and 36 were included. Study level clinical data were extracted by 3 independent reviewers. RESULTS The overall prevalence of functioning AIs was 27.5% (95% CI 23.0, 32.5). ACS/possible ACS, with a prevalence of 11.7% (95% CI 8.6, 15.7), was the most frequent hormonal alteration, while PA occurred in 4.4% of the patients (95% CI 3.1, 6.2). Subgroup analysis showed that PA was more prevalent in patients from Asia than in patients from Europe/America; in contrast, ACS/possible ACS had a lower prevalence in Asian countries. At meta-regression analysis, the prevalence of ACS/possible ACS was influenced by the proportion of female patients, while the prevalence of PA was positively associated with the proportion of patients with hypertension and the publication year. Finally, PHEO and CS prevalence were 3.8% (95% CI 2.8, 5.0) and 3.1% (95% CI 2.3, 4.3) respectively. CONCLUSION This meta-analysis provides extensive data on the prevalence of functioning AIs and the factors affecting heterogeneity in prevalence estimates.

Abstract
The follow-up strategy for unresected non-functional adrenal tumors (NFAT) is a major controversial issue in endocrinological clinical practice, as the natural history of adrenal incidentalomas (AI) is partially unknown and a consensus on their adequate management is lacking. In a recent longitudinal study by Ceccato et al., a large cohort of patients with conservatively treated AI were evaluated for possible radiological variations over time and their relationship with autonomous cortisol secretion (ACS). Starting from this paper, we performed a literature review of available longitudinal studies focus on the same issue. Notwithstanding the high variability in the duration of follow-up and in the criteria used to define ACS in the included studies, our findings support the idea that there is a not negligible risk of morphological and functional changes, which may have metabolic implications, especially after 5-10 years of follow-up. Unfortunately, these variations seem to be scarcely predictable. Therefore, it may be risky to interrupt the follow-up in patients with NFAT, in particular in the presence of larger diameter of the adenoma and higher cortisol levels at diagnosis. These results should be considered in defining the optimal management of these patients.

Abstract
PURPOSE We aimed to develop a predictive model able to stratify patients with non-functioning adrenal incidentalomas (AIs), according to their risk for developing autonomous cortisol secretion (ACS) during follow-up. METHODS This was a retrospective study of patients with non-functioning AIs consecutively evaluated at a single institution between 2013 and 2019 in whom hormonal follow-up information was available for at least 1 year. Clinical, biochemical, and radiological features were used to build a multivariate Cox regression model using the estimation of all possible equations. RESULTS We included 331 patients with non-functioning AIs. ACS (post-dexamethasone suppression test (DST) serum cortisol > 1.8 µg/dL) developed in 73 patients during a median follow-up time of 35.7 months [range 12.8-165.4]. The best predictive model for ACS development during follow-up combined age, post-DST serum cortisol, and bilaterality at presentation and showed good diagnostic accuracy (AUC-ROC 0.70 [95% CI 0.65-0.75]). The lowest risk for ACS development was found among patients < 50 years old with cortisol post-DST values < 0.45 µg/dL and with unilateral tumors (risk 2.42%). Baseline post-DST serum cortisol levels at diagnosis were the most important factor for the development of ACS during follow-up (hazard ratio 3.56 for each µg/dL, p < 0.001). The rate of ACS development was associated with post-DST cortisol levels, being 19.2, 32.3, and 68.1 cases/10,000 person-years for patients with baseline post-DST cortisol < 0.9 µg/dL, 0.9-1.3 µg/dL, and > 1.3 µg/dL, respectively. CONCLUSION After ruling out malignancy, follow-up visits for patients < 50 years old with unilateral non-functioning AIs and post-DST serum cortisol < 0.45 µg/dL are considered unnecessary given the low risk of developing ACS during follow-up.

Abstract
PURPOSE To analyze the differences in the cardiometabolic profile in patients with nonfunctioning adrenal incidentalomas (NFAI) with post-dexamethasone suppression test (DST) cortisol ≤1.4 µg/dL (NFAI ≤ 1.4) and those with post-DST cortisol >1.4 µg/dL (NFAI > 1.4) and between NFAI with post-DST cortisol ≤0.9 µg/dL (NFAI ≤ 0.9) and those with levels >0.9 µg/dL (NFAI > 0.9). METHODS Multicenter retrospective observational study of patients with NFAIs. NFAI was defined as an adrenal incidentaloma with negative hormonal study (including metanephrines, post-DST cortisol ≤1.8 µg/dL and aldosterone/renin ratio when screening was indicated). Autonomous cortisol secretion (ACS) development was defined as an NFAIs in which post-DST serum cortisol >1.8 µg/dL were evidenced during hormonal follow-up evaluation. RESULTS A total of 593 NFAI were included. Based on the 1.4 µg/dL threshold in the DST, most of the NFAI were classified as NFAI ≤ 1.4 (74.5%). Patients in the NFAI > 1.4 group were older than those in the NFAI ≤ 1.4 group, but there was no difference in the cardiometabolic profile after adjusting for age. A total of 69.5% of the patients had DST > 0.9 µg/dl. They were older and had a higher prevalence of cardiovascular disease than NFAI ≤ 0.9, even after adjusting by age (adjusted OR = 2.23 [1.10-4.53]). Patients in the NFAI > 1.4 group developed ACS more commonly than the NFAI ≤ 1.4 group (23.5% vs. 7.44%, P < 0.001). However, when the threshold of 0.9 µg/dL was considered, no difference was found between NFAI ≤ 0.9 and NFAI > 0.9 (P = 0.126). CONCLUSION The threshold of 1.4 µg/dL in the DST is useful to predict which patients with NFAI had a higher risk of ACS development during follow-up; and the threshold of 0.9 µg/dL to identify those patients with NFAI with a higher cardiovascular risk.

Abstract
Importance Adrenalectomy is the definitive treatment for multiple adrenal abnormalities. Advances in technology and genomics and an improved understanding of adrenal pathophysiology have altered operative techniques and indications. Objective To develop evidence-based recommendations to enhance the appropriate, safe, and effective approaches to adrenalectomy. Evidence Review A multidisciplinary panel identified and investigated 7 categories of relevant clinical concern to practicing surgeons. Questions were structured in the framework Population, Intervention/Exposure, Comparison, and Outcome, and a guided review of medical literature from PubMed and/or Embase from 1980 to 2021 was performed. Recommendations were developed using Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development and Evaluation methodology and were discussed until consensus, and patient advocacy representation was included. Findings Patients with an adrenal incidentaloma 1 cm or larger should undergo biochemical testing and further imaging characterization. Adrenal protocol computed tomography (CT) should be used to stratify malignancy risk and concern for pheochromocytoma. Routine scheduled follow-up of a nonfunctional adrenal nodule with benign imaging characteristics and unenhanced CT with Hounsfield units less than 10 is not suggested. When unilateral disease is present, laparoscopic adrenalectomy is recommended for patients with primary aldosteronism or autonomous cortisol secretion. Patients with clinical and radiographic findings consistent with adrenocortical carcinoma should be treated at high-volume multidisciplinary centers to optimize outcomes, including, when possible, a complete R0 resection without tumor disruption, which may require en bloc radical resection. Selective or nonselective α blockade can be used to safely prepare patients for surgical resection of paraganglioma/pheochromocytoma. Empirical perioperative glucocorticoid replacement therapy is indicated for patients with overt Cushing syndrome, but for patients with mild autonomous cortisol secretion, postoperative day 1 morning cortisol or cosyntropin stimulation testing can be used to determine the need for glucocorticoid replacement therapy. When patient and tumor variables are appropriate, we recommend minimally invasive adrenalectomy over open adrenalectomy because of improved perioperative morbidity. Minimally invasive adrenalectomy can be achieved either via a retroperitoneal or transperitoneal approach depending on surgeon expertise, as well as tumor and patient characteristics. Conclusions and Relevance Twenty-six clinically relevant and evidence-based recommendations are provided to assist surgeons with perioperative adrenal care.

Predictors of Tumour Growth and Autonomous Cortisol Secretion Development during Follow-Up in Non-Functioning Adrenal Incidentalomas. J Clin Med 2021; 10:jcm10235509. Abstract
PURPOSE To assess the risk of developing autonomous cortisol secretion (ACS) and tumour growth in non-functioning adrenal incidentalomas (NFAIs). METHODS Multicentre retrospective observational study of patients with NFAIs. ACS was defined as serum cortisol >1.8 µg/dL after 1 mg-dexamethasone suppression test (DST) without specific data on Cushing's syndrome. Tumour growth was defined as an increase in maximum tumour diameter >20% from baseline; and of at least 5 mm. RESULTS Of 654 subjects with NFAIs included in the study, both tumour diameter and DST were re-evaluated during a follow-up longer than 12 months in 305 patients. After a median follow-up of 41.3 (IQR 24.7-63.1) months, 10.5% of NFAIs developed ACS. The risk for developing ACS was higher in patients with higher serum cortisol post-DST levels (HR 6.45 for each µg/dL, p = 0.001) at diagnosis. Significant tumour growth was observed in 5.2% of cases. The risk of tumour growth was higher in females (HR 10.7, p = 0.004). CONCLUSIONS The frequency of re-evaluation with DST in NFAIs during the initial 5 years from diagnosis can probably be tailored to the serum cortisol post-DST level at presentation. Re-evaluation of NFAIs with imaging studies, on the other hand, seems unnecessary in most cases, particularly if the initial imaging demonstrates features specific to typical adenoma, given the low rate of significant tumour growth.

Abstract
PURPOSE To evaluate differences between patients with unilateral and bilateral adrenal incidentalomas (AIs) in the prevalence of autonomous cortisol secretion (ACS) and related comorbidities. METHODS In this multicentre retrospective study, AIs ≥ 1 cm without overt hormonal excess were included in the study. ACS was defined by a post-dexamethasone suppression test (DST) serum cortisol ≥ 5.0 µg/dl, in the absence of signs of hypercortisolism. For the association of ACS with the prevalence of comorbidities, post-DST serum cortisol was also analysed as a continuous variable. RESULTS Inclusion criteria were met by 823 patients, 66.3% had unilateral and 33.7% bilateral AIs. ACS was demonstrated in 5.7% of patients. No differences in the prevalence of ACS and related comorbidities were found between bilateral and unilateral AIs (P > 0.05). However, we found that tumour size was a good predictor of ACS (OR = 1.1 for each mm, P < 0.001), and the cut-off of 25 mm presented a good diagnostic accuracy to predict ACS (sensitivity of 69.4%, specificity of 74.1%). During a median follow-up time of 31.2 (IQR = 14.4-56.5) months, the risk of developing dyslipidaemia was increased in bilateral compared with unilateral AIs (HR = 1.8, 95% CI = 1.1-3.0 but, this association depended on the tumour size observed at the end of follow-up (HR adjusted by last visit-tumour size = 0.9, 95% CI = 0.1-16.2). CONCLUSIONS Tumour size, not bilaterality, is associated with a higher prevalence of ACS. During follow-up, neither tumour size nor bilaterality were associated with the development of new comorbidities, yet a larger tumour size after follow-up explained the association of bilateral AIs with the risk of dyslipidaemia.
