Clinical outcomes of persistent colonization with multidrug-resistant Gram-negative rods in adult patients undergoing single cord blood transplantation

Feasibility and safety of the discontinuation of systemic immunosuppressive treatment after single-unit cord blood transplantation in adults

We retrospectively evaluated the incidence, factors, and clinical outcomes of the discontinuation of immunosuppressive treatment (IST) after single-unit unrelated cord blood transplantation (CBT) in adults receiving cyclosporine-based graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) prophylaxis at our institute. Among the 309 patients who achieved engraftment, 247 were able to discontinue IST with a median follow-up of 121 months for survivors. The cumulative incidence of the discontinuation of IST was 46.2% at 180 days, 72.8% at 2 years, and 79.3% at 5 years post-CBT. In the multivariate analysis, discontinuation of IST after CBT was significantly associated with the requirement for steroid therapy (hazard ratio [HR]: 0.46; P < 0.001) and the recent calendar year of CBT (HR: 1.79; P < 0.001). In the conditional landmark analysis at 180 days, discontinuation of IST was not associated with the development of extensive chronic GVHD (HR: 1.00; P = 0.989), non-relapse mortality (HR: 0.49; P = 0.122), relapse (HR: 1.46; P = 0.388), or overall survival (HR: 1.91; P = 0.065). Our data showed that successful discontinuation of IST is common after single-unit CBT in adults. Discontinuation of IST did not affect subsequent outcomes, suggesting that discontinuation of IST is both feasible and safe in adults undergoing single-unit CBT.

Low urinary sodium-to-potassium ratio in the early phase following single-unit cord blood transplantation is a predictive factor for poor non-relapse mortality in adults

Although daily higher urinary sodium (Na) and potassium (K) excretion ratio is associated with the risk of cardiovascular disease in the general population, a low Na/K ratio is associated with renal dysfunction in critically ill patients. Thus, we retrospectively analyzed the impact of daily urinary Na and K excretion and their ratio on non-relapse mortality (NRM) and overall mortality in 172 adult single-unit cord blood transplantation (CBT) patients treated at our institution between 2007 and 2020. Multivariate analysis showed that a low urinary Na/K ratio at both 14 days (hazard ratio [HR], 4.82; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.81-12.83; P = 0.001) and 28 days (HR, 4.47; 95% CI 1.32-15.12; P = 0.015) was significantly associated with higher NRM. Furthermore, a low urinary Na/K ratio at 28 days was significantly associated with higher overall mortality (HR, 2.38; 95% CI 1.15-4.91; P = 0.018). Patients with a low urinary Na/K ratio had decreased urine volume, more weight gain, experienced more grade III-IV acute graft-versus-host disease, and required corticosteroids by 28 days after CBT. These findings indicate that a low urinary Na/K ratio early after single-unit CBT is associated with poor NRM and survival in adults.

Clinical implications of augmented renal clearance after unrelated single cord blood transplantation in adults

Augmented renal clearance (ARC) is a phenomenon characterized by increased renal functionality, which can impact the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of antimicrobial drugs eliminated by the kidneys. It is a potential concern for infection treatment. Cord blood transplantation (CBT) is primarily impeded by delayed neutrophil recovery and immune reconstitution, thereby increasing susceptibility to infection. However, the clinical implications of ARC following CBT remain unexplored. We retrospectively assessed the influence of ARC on post-transplant outcomes at various time points in 194 adult recipients of single-unit unrelated CBT between 2007 and 2022 at our institution. ARC was observed in 52.9% of patients at 1 day, 39.8% at 15 days, and 26.5% at 29 days post-CBT. ARC was not significantly associated with bloodstream infection, acute graft-versus-host disease, or veno-occlusive disease/sinusoidal obstruction syndrome at any time point. ARC at 1 day, 15 days, and 29 days post-CBT was not significantly associated  with overall survival, non-relapse mortality, or relapse rates. These findings suggest that ARC is common in adults during the early stages of CBT, but does not discernibly influence clinical outcomes or post-CBT complications.

Incidence, Etiology, Risk Factors, and Outcomes of Bloodstream Infection after a Second Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation

Objective Infections after a second hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) occur commonly and are associated with high mortality. However, studies on bloodstream infection (BSI) after a second HSCT are lacking. We therefore evaluated the details of BSI after a second HSCT. Methods We retrospectively evaluated the incidence, etiology, risk factors, and outcomes of BSI after a second HSCT. Patients Fifty-two adult patients with hematological malignancies who underwent allogeneic HSCT, including cord blood transplantation (CBT; n=33), as the second transplantation were enrolled. The second transplantation was limited to allogeneic HSCT. Patients who underwent HSCT for graft failure were excluded. Results The median HSCT interval was 438 (range: 39-3,893) days. Overall, 31 (59.6%) patients received autologous HSCT as the first HSCT. The cumulative incidence of BSI was 40.4% at 100 days after the second HSCT, with Gram-positive bacteria accounting for the majority (30.8%) of pathogens. Overall, 92.0% of BSIs occurred during the pre-engraftment period, and Enterococcus faecium accounted for 29.6% of pathogens. On a multivariate analysis, CBT was most closely associated with pre-engraftment BSI after the second HSCT (hazard ratio: 3.43, 95% confidence interval: 1.05-11.23, p=0.042). The 1-year survival rate after the second HSCT was lower in patients with BSI than in patients without BSI (p=0.10). Conclusion BSI is common after a second HSCT, especially with CBT. During the pre-engraftment period, BSI caused by pathogens such as E. faecium should be anticipated and appropriately treated to improve transplant outcomes.

Pretransplantation EASIX Score Predicts Nonrelapse and Overall Mortality of Adult Patients Undergoing Single-Unit Unrelated Cord Blood Transplantation

The Endothelial Activation and Stress Index (EASIX) is a laboratory-based score used to estimate endothelial damage occurring after hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT). The EASIX score exhibits dynamic changes during the course of transplantation and has been identified as a predictor of nonrelapse mortality (NRM) and worse overall survival (OS) in studies focused mainly on patients who received matched related or unrelated donor allogeneic HCT. However, the role of EASIX score in the setting of cord blood transplantation (CBT) is unclear. This study examined the association between pretransplant EASIX score and post-transplantation outcomes in adult patients undergoing single-unit CBT. We retrospectively evaluated the impact of EASIX score at different time points on post-transplantation outcomes in adults following single-unit unrelated CBT between 1998 and 2022 at our institution. EASIX scores were calculated at the start of conditioning (EASIX-PRE), at day 30 post-CBT (EASIX-d30), at day 100 post-CBT (EASIX-d100), and at the onset of grade II-IV acute graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) (EASIX-GVHD II-IV). A total of 317 patients were included in this study. In the multivariate analysis, log2-EASIX-PRE (continuous variable) was significantly associated with lower risks of neutrophil engraftment (hazard ratio [HR], .87; 95% confidence interval [CI], .80 to .94; P < .001) and platelet engraftment (HR, .91; 95% CI, .83 to .99; P = .047), lower risk of grade II-IV acute GVHD (HR, .85; 95% CI, .76 to .94; P = .003), and higher risk of veno-occlusive disease/sinusoidal obstruction syndrome (VOD/SOS) (HR, 1.44; 95% CI, 1.03 to 2.02; P = .032). Log2-EASIX-PRE also was significantly associated with higher NRM (HR, 1.42; 95% CI, 1.08 to 1.86; P = .011) and worse OS (HR, 1.26; 95% CI, 1.08 to 1.46; P = .003), but not with relapse (HR, 1.02; 95% CI, .88 to 1.18; P = .780). Similarly, log2-EASIX-d30 (HR, 1.60; 95% CI, 1.26 to 2.05; P < .001), and log2-EASIX-d100 (HR, 2.01; 95% CI, 1.63 to 2.48; P < .001) were also significantly associated with higher NRM, but log2-EASIX-GVHD II-IV was not (HR, 1.15; 95% CI, .85 to 1.55; P = .360). Pretransplantation EASIX score is a powerful predictor of engraftment, VOS/SOS, NRM, and OS in adult patients undergoing single-unit unrelated CBT who mainly received intensified conditioning regimens. EASIX is an easily evaluable and dynamic prognostic score for accurately predicting post-transplantation outcomes in patients at any time during the course of allogeneic HCT, particularly for CBT.

The Prognosis of Patients Tested Positive for Stenotrophomonas maltophilia from Different Sources

Purpose

The purpose of this study was to analyze the prognosis of patients tested positive for Stenotrophomonas maltophilia (SMA) from different sources.

Methods

A retrospective study was conducted among 651 patients tested positive for SMA from January 2020 to October 2022 in the First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University. The patients were divided into seven groups by the source of SMA. Univariate and multivariate analyses were used to identify risk factors for mortality in patients tested positive for SMA from different sources.

Results

A total of 651 SMA isolates were collected from various sources, including sputum (348 isolates, 53%), bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (52, 8%), abdominal drainage fluid (76, 12%), wound secretion (66, 10%), blood (62, 10%), urine (41, 6%) and cerebrospinal fluid (6, 1%). Compared with other groups, the mortality of the patients in the bronchoalveolar lavage fluid culture group, blood culture group, and abdominal drainage fluid culture group was higher, at 40.38%, 32.26%, and 26.32%, respectively. Multivariate analysis showed that continuous renal replacement therapy was an independent risk factor for mortality in patients with SMA bloodstream infection (P=0.020, OR=6.86), and effective antimicrobial therapy after being positive for S. maltophilia isolates (P=0.002, OR=0.10) was negatively correlated with the death of patients with SMA bloodstream infection. Age ≥65 years (P= 0.043, OR=4.96), kidney disease (P=0.045, OR=4.62) and antifungal agent exposure (P=0.036, OR=5.13) were independent risk factors for mortality in patients with SMA intra-abdominal infection. Antifungal agent exposure (P=0.024, OR=0.51) and glycopeptide exposure (P=0.045, OR=0.53) were independent risk factors for mortality in patients in the sputum culture group.

Conclusion

SMA has a high rate of antimicrobial resistance and can cause multisite infection. Pulmonary infections, bloodstream infections and abdominal infections caused by SMA have high mortality, and timely standardized treatment can reduce mortality.

Better Outcome of Off-Label High-Dose Ceftazidime in Hemato-Oncological Patients with Infections Caused by Extensively Drug-Resistant Pseudomonas Aeruginosa

Background

P. aeruginosa sepsis in immunocompromised patients is a serious complication of cancer treatment, especially in the case of an Extensively Drug Resistant (XDR) pathogen. The aim of the study is to evaluate the efficacy of high-dose ceftazidime in the treatment of XDR P. aeruginosa infection and to compare it with the conventionally treated cohort in hemato-oncological patients.

Methods

We identified 27 patients with XDR P. aeruginosa infection during the 2008-2018 period, 16 patients served as a conventionally treated cohort with an antipseudomonal beta-lactam antibiotic in standard dose (cohort A), and 11 patients were treated with high-dose ceftazidime (cohort B). Most of the patients were neutropenic and under active treatment for their cancer in both cohorts.

Results

Mortality and related mortality were statistically significantly better for cohort B than cohort A; it was 18.2% and 9.1% for cohort B and 68.8% and 68.8% for cohort A, respectively. More patients in cohort A needed mechanical ventilation and renal replacement therapy, 75% and 50% for cohort A and 27.3% and 9.9% for cohort B, respectively. It corresponded well with the worst sequential organ failure score (SOFA) in cohort A compared to cohort B, 16 versus 7, respectively. Reversible neurotoxicity was seen only in two patients in cohort B.

Conclusion

Ceftazidime in high doses is a very potent antibiotic (ATB) for treating XDR P. aeruginosa infections in neutropenic cancer with acceptable toxicity.

Long-term incidence of varicella zoster virus disease in adults receiving single-unit cord blood transplantation

BACKGROUND

Varicella zoster virus (VZV) disease is a common complication after allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT). However, research into the long-term incidence of VZV disease in adults receiving cord blood transplantation (CBT) has been limited.

OBJECTIVE

The objective of this study was to evaluate the incidence, risk factors, and clinical impact of VZV disease after CBT with a long-term follow-up in our institute.

STUDY DESIGN

We retrospectively analyzed the data for 156 adult patients who received single-unit CBT at our institute between 2007 and 2020, who achieved neutrophil engraftment and survived at least 100 days without recurrence of the underlying disease.

RESULTS

VZV disease occurred in 61 patients at a median of 608 days (range, 36 - 4090 days) after CBT. The cumulative incidence of VZV disease was 14% (95% confidence interval [CI], 9% to 20%) at 1 year and 40% (95% CI, 31% to 48%) at 5 years after CBT. Multivariate analysis showed that the cessation of antiviral prophylaxis was an independent risk factor for a higher risk of VZV disease (hazard ratio: 15.65, 95% CI: 6.59-37.21, P<0.001). The cumulative incidence of VZV disease was significantly lower in the long-term antiviral prophylaxis group given for around 1 year after CBT or the end of immunosuppressive therapy compared to the short-term antiviral prophylaxis group given for 35 days after CBT (P=0.005). Among patients who developed VZV disease, the median onset of VZV disease was significantly delayed in the long-term antiviral prophylaxis group compared to the short-term antiviral prophylaxis group (694 days vs 130 days, P<0.001), but the median onset of VZV disease after the cessation of antiviral prophylaxis was not significantly different between long-term and short-term antiviral prophylaxis (166 days vs 95 days, P=0.087).

CONCLUSION

These data demonstrated that the long-term incidence of VZV disease was relatively high in adult patients receiving CBT. Given that the incidence of VZV disease after the cessation of antiviral prophylaxis remained high, additional interventions, such as recombinant zoster vaccine administration, could be required to prevent VZV disease in long-term adult survivors after CBT.

Optimal time and threshold of absolute lymphocyte count recovery as a prognostic factor after single‐unit cord blood transplantation in adults

We retrospectively evaluated the optimal time and threshold of absolute lymphocyte count (ALC) recovery as a prognostic factor in 174 adult patients who received single‐unit cord blood transplantation (CBT) at our institute. We analyzed the impact of ALC ≥300, ≥600, and ≥900/μl by 30 and 60 days on transplant outcomes. Multivariate analysis showed that only ALC ≥300/μl at 60 days was significantly associated with overall mortality (hazard ratio, 0.24; p = 0.001) following CBT. The optimal time point to use ALC recovery as a prognostic tool following CBT could be later than those following adult donor transplantation.

Total body irradiation-based versus busulfan-based myeloablative conditioning for single-unit cord blood transplantation in adults

Comparative studies between total body irradiation (TBI)-based and busulfan-based myeloablative conditioning (MAC) regimens for cord blood transplantation (CBT) have been limited. We retrospectively analyzed the results of single-unit CBT in 333 adult patients who received either TBI-based (n = 258) or busulfan-based (n = 75) MAC regimens at our institute. After adjusting for significant variables in the univariate analysis, there were no significant differences in neutrophil recovery (hazard ratio (HR), 0.88; p = .460), grade III-IV acute graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) (HR: 1.40, p = .410), extensive chronic GVHD (HR: 0.73, p = .380), relapse (HR: 0.61, p = .270), non-relapse mortality (HR: 1.38, p = .420), overall survival (HR: 1.18, p = .637), or event-free survival (HR: 1.08, p = .773), although platelet recovery was lower with marginal significance for the busulfan-based regimen (HR: 0.67, p = .068). In subgroup analysis, TBI-based regimens were superior to busulfan-based regimens in terms of survival for acute lymphoblastic leukemia, but not for myeloid malignancies. Further investigation is warranted even for CBT.

Long-term outcomes following the addition of granulocyte colony-stimulating factor-combined high-dose cytarabine to total body irradiation and cyclophosphamide conditioning in single-unit cord blood transplantation for myeloid malignancies

An intensified myeloablative conditioning regimen, involving the addition of granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF)-combined high-dose cytarabine (12 g/m²) to standard total body irradiation and cyclophosphamide, has been performed for adult patients with myeloid malignancies in single-unit cord blood transplantation (CBT) since 1998 in our institute. We update the results of CBT, as the first allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation after this conditioning regimen, in 169 patients with a median long-term follow-up of 10.4 years. The median age was 43 years (range, 16 to 59 years). Ninety-four patients (56%) were in non-remission at the time of CBT, and 124 patients (73%) were acute myeloid leukemia. The median cryopreserved cord blood total nucleated cell dose and CD34⁺ cell dose was 2.40 × 10⁷/kg and 0.93 × 10⁵/kg, respectively. The cumulative incidence of neutrophil recovery at 42 days was 94.4% (95% confidence interval [CI]: 88.6-97.3%). Among the whole cohort, 105 patients were still alive at the end of the study period. The cumulative incidences of relapse and non-relapse mortality at 10 years were 26.0% (95% CI: 19.5-33.0%) and 16.9% (95% CI: 11.4-23.4%), respectively. There was an overall survival probability of 62.5% (95% CI: 54.3-69.7%) at 10 years. Higher disease risk index alone significantly affected higher overall mortality (hazard ratio 2.21, P = 0.003) in multivariate analysis. These outcomes demonstrate that G-CSF-combined myeloablative conditioning could have favorable long-term remission rates for adult patients with myeloid malignancies undergoing single-unit CBT.

Momentum of neutrophil recovery using an exponential growth model predicts the prognosis of single cord blood transplantation

INTRODUCTION

After the first appearance of peripheral blood neutrophils, recipients from adult donor sources have a rapid increase in neutrophil recovery, whereas cord blood transplantation (CBT) recipients have a slow increase. However, the momentum of neutrophil recovery after CBT varies widely among individuals, but optimal methods to evaluate the momentum of neutrophil recovery and their clinical impacts are yet to be clarified.

METHODS

We retrospectively examined the prognostic effect of the momentum of neutrophil recovery in the last 7 days until neutrophil engraftment, which was calculated by an exponential growth model, after single CBT following myeloablative conditioning for 207 adults.

RESULTS

Among patients who achieved each hematopoietic lineage recovery by day 100, the momentum of neutrophil recovery, which was represented as a growth constant, was associated with the day of neutrophil engraftment (P < .0001), red blood cell engraftment (P < .0001), and platelet engraftment (P < .0001) using the Spearman's rank correlation coefficient test. More importantly, overall survival was superior with a higher growth constant compared with a lower growth constant (P < .001). In the multivariate analysis, a higher growth constant showed a lower overall mortality compared with a lower growth constant (hazard ratio: 0.48, P = .014).

CONCLUSION

Our data demonstrated that the momentum of neutrophil recovery during the last 7 days before neutrophil engraftment, which was measured using an exponential growth model, was associated not only with hematopoietic recovery but also with a better prognosis after single CBT.

Prognostic impacts of peripheral blood erythroblasts after single-unit cord blood transplantation

INTRODUCTION

The appearance of erythroblasts (EBLs) in peripheral blood occurs in a variety of serious conditions and has been associated with mortality in critically ill patients. However, the incidence, risk factor, and outcomes of EBLs after cord blood transplantation (CBT) remain unclear.

METHODS

We have investigated the impact of EBLs on transplant outcomes on 225 adult patients who underwent single-unit CBT at our single institute.

RESULTS

The cumulative incidences of EBL ≥200 × 10⁶ /L and EBL ≥1000 × 10⁶ /L at 60 days after CBT were 17% and 4%, respectively, detected after a median of 35 days and 36.5 days. Multivariate analysis using erythroblastosis as time-dependent covariates demonstrated the significant association of EBL ≥1000 × 10⁶ /L, but not EBL ≥200 × 10⁶ /L, with the development of grade III-IV acute graft-versus-host disease (GVHD, hazard ratio [HR]: 18.56; P < .001), higher nonrelapse mortality (HR: 13.38; P < .001), and overall mortality (HR: 4.97; P = .001).

CONCLUSION

These data suggested that higher levels of EBLs were recognized as a significant risk factor for severe acute GVHD and mortality after single-unit CBT. Higher levels of EBLs may serve as a surrogate marker for poor single CBT outcomes.

Advances in the Microbiology of Stenotrophomonas maltophilia

Stenotrophomonas maltophilia is an opportunistic pathogen of significant concern to susceptible patient populations. This pathogen can cause nosocomial and community-acquired respiratory and bloodstream infections and various other infections in humans. Sources include water, plant rhizospheres, animals, and foods. Studies of the genetic heterogeneity of S. maltophilia strains have identified several new genogroups and suggested adaptation of this pathogen to its habitats. The mechanisms used by S. maltophilia during pathogenesis continue to be uncovered and explored. S. maltophilia virulence factors include use of motility, biofilm formation, iron acquisition mechanisms, outer membrane components, protein secretion systems, extracellular enzymes, and antimicrobial resistance mechanisms. S. maltophilia is intrinsically drug resistant to an array of different antibiotics and uses a broad arsenal to protect itself against antimicrobials. Surveillance studies have recorded increases in drug resistance for S. maltophilia, prompting new strategies to be developed against this opportunist. The interactions of this environmental bacterium with other microorganisms are being elucidated. S. maltophilia and its products have applications in biotechnology, including agriculture, biocontrol, and bioremediation.

Early-Phase Peripheral Blood Eosinophilia Predicts Lower Overall and Non-Relapse Mortality After Single-Unit Cord Blood Transplantation

Peripheral blood eosinophilia has been associated with the development of graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) and survival after allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT). However, the impacts of eosinophilia on cord blood transplantation (CBT) outcomes remain unclear. The objective of this study was to examine the associations between eosinophilia and overall survival, relapse incidence, non-relapse mortality, and acute and chronic GVHD after single-unit CBT for adults. We retrospectively analyzed the data for 225 adult patients who received single-unit CBT at our institute between March 2004 and March 2020. The cumulative incidence of eosinophilia, defined as an absolute eosinophil count of ≥500 × 10⁶/L in peripheral blood, was 48.9% (95% confidence interval, 42.2% to 55.2%) at 60 days after CBT. Recipient cytomegalovirus seronegative status and higher cryopreserved cord blood CD34⁺ cell dose were significantly associated with a higher incidence of eosinophilia after CBT. Among patients who achieved neutrophil recovery, neutrophil recovery was significantly earlier in patient with eosinophilia compared to those without eosinophilia (P = .016). Serum levels of interleukin-5 at 4 weeks were significantly higher in patients with eosinophilia compared with those without eosinophilia (P = .041). Multivariate analysis, in which the development of eosinophilia was treated as a time-dependent covariate, showed that eosinophilia was significantly associated with lower overall mortality (hazard ratio [HR], .58; P = .034) and non-relapse mortality (HR, .41; P = .029), but not relapse incidence or development of acute or chronic GVHD. Our data suggested that early-phase eosinophilia is a predictor of favorable outcomes in adult patients undergoing single-unit CBT.

Lower vancomycin trough levels in adults undergoing unrelated cord blood transplantation

Vancomycin (VCM) is frequently used for neutropenic patients undergoing cord blood transplantation (CBT). We retrospectively examined the relationship between VCM trough levels and the efficacy and toxicity in 122 adult patients undergoing CBT in our institute. The median initial dose of VCM based on body weight was 9.1 mg/kg/dose (range, 6.0-22.6 mg/kg/dose). The median initial trough level of VCM for all patients was 4.50 µg/mL (range, 1.20-24.05 µg/mL), at a median of 3 days (range, 2-6 days) after VCM administration. The cumulative incidence of acute kidney injury (AKI) was 19% at 30 days after VCM administration. A higher median trough level of VCM during the first 7 days was significantly associated with the development of AKI in the multivariate analysis (Hazard ratio: 1.28, p = .026). These data suggest that a lower VCM trough level may be safe in adult patients undergoing CBT under therapy with nephrotoxic drugs.

Impact of Intestinal Microbiota on Reconstitution of Circulating Monocyte, Dendritic Cell, and Natural Killer Cell Subsets in Adults Undergoing Single-Unit Cord Blood Transplantation

The intestinal microbiota plays a fundamental role in the development of host innate immune cells, such as monocytes, dendritic cells (DCs), and natural killer (NK) cells. We examined the association between intestinal microbiota and subsequent immune reconstitution of circulating monocyte, DC, and NK cell subsets in 38 adult patients undergoing single-unit cord blood transplantation (CBT). A higher diversity of intestinal microbiota at 1 month was significantly associated with higher counts of plasmacytoid DCs at 7 months after CBT, as measured by the Chao1 index. Principal coordinate analysis of unweighted UniFrac distances showed significant differences between higher and lower classical monocyte reconstitution at 7 months post-CBT. The families Neisseriaceae, Burkholderiaceae, Propionibacteriaceae, and Coriobacteriaceae were increased in higher classical monocyte reconstitution at 7 months post-CBT, whereas the family Bacteroidaceae was increased in lower classical monocyte reconstitution at 7 months post-CBT. These data show that intestinal microbiota composition affects immune reconstitution of classical monocyte and plasmacytoid DCs following single-unit CBT.
