Abstract
Synthesis of novel benzene-1,2,4-tricarboxylic acid-based chromium metal-organic framework (designated as Cr-BTC MOF) by solvothermal method using water:ethanol:dimethylformamide (1:1:2) as solvent media has been undertaken with an aim to exploit its role as photocatalyst in degradation of some anionic dyes along with sensing potential of some explosives. The MOF has been characterized by Fourier transform infra-red, scanning electron microscopy, Brunauer-Emmett Teller and powder X-Ray diffraction techniques and has shown high thermal stability, upto 373 °C. The prepared MOF was utilized as photocatalyst in selective degradation of Congo red (CR) dye. The effects of pH, source of radiation, initiator and concentration of catalyst were monitored and the results have shown that catalyst exhibits maximum efficiency of 93.3% in the presence of sunlight in neutral medium. The stability and reusability of the catalyst, after four cycles of reusability, renders it to be a highly efficient photocatalyst in the treatment of wastewater under the effect of sunlight. Photoluminescence-detection of explosives viz. 2,4,6-trinitrophenol and nitromethane, has been carried out, wherein Stern-Volmer equation was used to assess the quenching efficiency evaluated. The results have shown exceptional efficiency and selectivity of Cr-BTC MOF towards detection of 2,4,6-trinitrophenol (94%). The reusability has shown the synthesized MOF to display excellent recyclability upto 5 cycles. Minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) method was investigated to establish their antibacterial efficacy against some Gram-positive and Gram-negative strains. The MOF has showed good efficacy towards Bacillus cereus and Staphylococcus aureus, displaying a MIC value of 7.81 µg/mL, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa (15.625 µg/mL) similar to the standard antibacterial drug, chloramphenicol, thereby establishing their biological efficacy.

Abstract
Hybrid polypyrrole (PPy) nanoparticles were prepared using a low-temperature oxidative polymerization process in an acidic solution with polyethyleneimine (PEI) as a template and amine source. The results showed that the nanoparticles have an amorphous structure in the X-ray diffractogram and exhibited good dispersibility in water, uniform size, and a specific conductivity ranging from 0.1 to 6.9 S/cm. The particle size could be tuned from 85 to 300 nm by varying the reactant concentration. Undoping the samples with sodium hydroxide (NaOH) solution altered the optical absorption properties and surface roughness of the particles. However, it did not affect the particle size. The nanoparticles also exhibited optical sensing properties based on their UV-vis absorption changes with the pH. Moreover, nanoparticles could have potential applications in gene delivery and bio-adsorption for contaminant removal. This work demonstrates a simple and effective method for preparing hybrid polypyrrole nanoparticles with controllable size, dispersibility, and conductivity for various nanotechnology, biotechnology, and environmental engineering purposes.

Abstract
This study comprehensively assesses the release rate of biocides, corrosion effects related to antifouling, and the physical properties of different paint types. Tests were conducted to measure thickness, viscosity, hardness, bending, adhesion, gloss, impact resistance, abrasion resistance, scratch resistance, polarization, and salt spray. The paints evaluated include resin-based, acrylic-based, epoxy-based, and vinyl-based formulations. The study investigates the influence of biocide content, biocide particle size, and immersion time on release rate using a lab-scale setup. Results showed that acrylic-based paints had a higher biocide release rate due to faster hydrolysis, while smaller biocide particle sizes led to higher release rates in resin-based paints. Optimal total biocide contents were determined to be 30% for acrylic-based, 60% for epoxy-based, and 50% for vinyl-based paints. Antifouling corrosion analysis demonstrated that sample with an optimal release rate effectively prevent algae growth and fouling. Acrylic-based paint with 30 wt.% biocide content exhibited superior adhesion with a dolly separation force of 4.12 MPa. Evaluating the impact of synthesized polyaniline on 30 wt.% epoxy-based paint, a sample coated with 10 wt.% polyaniline represented a low corrosion rate of 0.35 µm/year and a high impedance value of approximately 37,000 Ohm·cm-2.

Abstract
The presence of toxic pollutants in wastewater discharge can affect the environment negatively due to presence of the organic and inorganic contaminants. The application of the electrochemical process in wastewater treatment is promising, specifically in treating these harmful pollutants from the aquatic environment. This review focused on recent applications of the electrochemical process for the remediation of such harmful pollutants from aquatic environments. Furthermore, the process conditions that affect the electrochemical process performance are evaluated, and the appropriate treatment processes are suggested according to the presence of organic and inorganic contaminants. Electrocoagulation, electrooxidation, and electro-Fenton applications in wastewater have shown effective performance with high removal rates. The disadvantages of these processes are the formation of toxic intermediate metabolites, high energy consumption, and sludge generation. To overcome such disadvantages combined ecotechnologies can be applied in large-scale wastewater pollutants removal. The combination of electrochemical and biological treatment has gained importance, increased removal performance remarkably, and decreased operational costs. The critical discussion with depth information in this review could be beneficial for wastewater treatment plant operators throughout the world.

Abstract
This study aimed to assess the UV-shielding features of the PMMA-based thin film coatings with the addition of TiO2 and ZnO nanoparticles as nanofillers considering different contents. Furthermore, the effect of TiO2/ZnO nanohybrids at different ratios and concentrations was examined. The XRD, FTIR, SEM, and EDX analyses characterized the prepared films' functional groups, structure, and morphology. Meanwhile, the coatings' optical properties and UV-protecting capability were investigated by ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis) spectroscopy. The UV-Vis spectroscopic study revealed that as the concentration of nanoparticles increased in the hybrid-coated PMMA, the absorption in the UVA region increased. Overall, it can be concluded that the optimal coatings for PMMA were 0.1 wt% TiO2, 0.1 wt% ZnO, and 0.025:0.025 wt% TiO2: ZnO nanohybrid. Considering the acquired FT-IR of PMMA with different content of nanoparticles before and after exposure to the UV irradiation, for some films, it was confirmed that the polymer-based thin films degraded after 720 h, with either decreasing or increasing intensity of the degraded polymer, peak shifting, and band broadening. Notably, the FTIR results were in good agreement with UV-Vis outcomes. In addition, XRD diffraction peaks demonstrated that the pure PMMA matrix and PMMA coating films did not show any characteristic peaks indicating the presence of nanoparticles. All diffraction patterns were similar with and without any nanoparticles. Therefore, it depicted the amorphous nature of polymer thin film.

Abstract
In this study, we fabricated an economical, non-toxic, and convenient magnetic nanocomposite of CuFe2O4 nanoparticles (NPs)/carbon quantum dots (CQDs) of citric acid via the co-precipitation method. Afterward, obtained magnetic nanocomposite was used as a nanocatalyst to reduce the ortho-nitroaniline (o-NA) and para-nitroaniline (p-NA) using a reducer agent of sodium borohydride (NaBH4). To investigate the functional groups, crystallite, structure, morphology, and nanoparticle size of the prepared nanocomposite, FT-IR, XRD, TEM, BET, and SEM were employed. The catalytic performance of the nanocatalyst was experimentally evaluated based on the ultraviolet-visible absorbance to assess the reduction of o-NA and p-NA. The acquired outcomes illustrated that the prepared heterogeneous catalyst significantly enhanced the reduction of o-NA and p-NA substrates. The analysis of the absorption showed a remarkable decrease for ortho-NA and para-NA at λmax = 415 nm in 27 s and λmax = 380 nm in 8 s, respectively. The constant rate (kapp) of ortho-NA and para-NA at the stated λmax was 8.39 × 10-2 s-1 and 5.48 × 10-1 s-1. The most highlighted result of this work was that the CuFe2O4@CQD nanocomposite fabricated from citric acid performed better than absolute CuFe2O4 NPs, since nanocomposite containing CQDs had a more significant impact than copper ferrite NPs.

Abstract
The primary objective of this research is to investigate the reduction of 4-nitroaniline (4-NA) and 2-nitroaniline (2-NA) using synthesized copper ferrite nanoparticles (NPs) via facile one-step hydrothermal method as a heterogeneous nano-catalyst. Nitroanilines were reduced in the presence and without the catalyst with a constant amount (100 mg) of reducing agent of sodium borohydride (NaBH4 ) at room temperature in water to amino compounds. To characterize the functional groups, size, structure, and morphology of as-prepared magnetic NPs, FTIR, XRD, SEM, and TEM were employed. The UV-Vis spectrum was utilized to explore the catalytic effect of CuFe2 O4 . The outcomes revealed that the synthesized CuFe2 O4 as a heterogeneous magnetic nano-catalyst catalyzed the reduction of 4-NA and 2-NA significantly faster than other candidate catalysts. The outcomes demonstrated that the catalyst catalyzed 4-nitroaniline to para-phenylenediamine (p-PDA) and 2-nitroaniline to ortho-phenylenediamine (o-PDA) with a constant rate of 7.49×10-2 s-1 and 3.19×10-2 s-1 , and conversion percentage of 96.5 and 95.6, in 40 s and 90 s, sequentially. Furthermore, the nanoparticles could be recovered by a magnetic separation method and reused for six consecutive cycles without remarkable loss of catalytic ability.

Abstract
This study aimed to investigate the effect of titanium dioxide (TiO2) nano additives on the thermal performance of a pilot-scale cross-flow cooling tower. Moreover, it is a continuation of our previous study on the effect of using multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) nanofluid, and the results were compared with the results of TiO2 and previous work. An experimental design by response surface methodology (RSM) based on central composite design (CCD) with two factors (concentration and flow rate) was used to study the effectiveness of the setup, Merkel number, and the cooling range. The nanofluids were prepared by the two-step method. The stability tests were performed considering different surfactants such as Gum Arabic, Triton X-100, and sodium dodecyl sulfate, and Gum Arabic was determined as the optimal surfactant. The visual method, dynamic light scattering (DLS), and Zeta potential analyses were used to ensure the stability of the nanofluids and determine the size distribution of the nanoparticles in the nanofluids. The findings revealed that the heat transfer characteristics of the working fluid were improved with the addition of nanoparticles. Moreover, by comparing the effect of nanoparticles, it was found that MWCNTs could enhance the thermal features better than TiO2. The nanofluid containing 0.085 wt% of the MWCNTs improves the Merkel number, effectiveness, and cooling range by 28, 10.2, and 15.8%, respectively, whereas these values for TiO2 containing nanofluids are 5, 4.1, and 7.4%, respectively. MWCNTs nanofluid with a concentration of 0.069 wt% and a flow rate of 2.092 kg/min was proposed for optimal system setup. Under these conditions, the cooling range, effectiveness, and Merkel number were about 23.5, 55.75%, and 0.64, respectively.
