Abstract
BACKGROUND Cervical cancer screening is the primary goal in 90-70-90 targets to reduce cervical cancer incidence and mortality by identifying and treating women with precancerous lesions. Although several studies have been conducted in Sub-Saharan African (SSA) countries on cervical cancer screening, their coverage was limited to the regional or national level, and/or did not address individual- and community-level determinants, with existing evidence gaps to the wider SSA region using the most recent data. Hence, this study aimed to assess the pooled prevalence and multilevel correlates of cervical cancer screening among women with SSA. METHODS This study was conducted using the Demographic Health Survey data (2015-2022) from 11 countries, and a total weighted sample of 124,787 women was considered in the analysis. Using multilevel mixed-effects logistic regression, the influence of each factor on cervical cancer screening uptake was investigated, and significant predictors were reported using the adjusted odds ratio (aOR) with their respective 95% confidence intervals (95% CI). RESULTS The overall weighted prevalence of cervical cancer screening was 10.29 (95% CI: 7.77, 11.26), with the highest and lowest screening rates detected in Namibia and Benin at 39.3% (95% CI: 38.05, 40.54) and 0.5% (95% CI: 0.36, 0.69), respectively. Higher cervical screening uptake was observed among women aged 35-49 [aOR = 4.11; 95% CI: 3.69, 4.58] compared to 15-24 years, attending higher education [aOR = 2.71; 95% CI: 2.35, 3.23] than no formal education, being in the richest wealth quintile [aOR = 1.45; 95% CI: 1.26, 1.67], having a recent visit to a health facility [aOR = 1.83; 95% CI: 1.71, 1.95], using contraception [aOR = 1.54; 95% CI: 1.45, 1.64], recent sexual activity [aOR = 3.59; 95% CI: 2.97, 4.34], and listening to the radio [aOR = 1.78; 95%CI: 1.60, 2.15]. CONCLUSION The overall prevalence of cervical cancer screening in SSA countries was found to be low; only one in every ten women has been screened. Strengthening universal health coverage, and promoting screening programs with an emphasis on rural areas and low socioeconomic status are key to improving screening rates and equity. Additionally, integrating cervical cancer screening with existing reproductive health programs, e.g. contraceptive service would be important.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The burden of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) is increasing. Risk perception of NCDs is an important factor towards the uptake of preventive health interventions. There are various questionnaires assessing risk perception of NCDs, but no internationally standardized questionnaire has been available. Identification of factors associated with risk perception of NCDs may facilitate the development of targeted interventions. This systematic review aims to identify available questionnaire assessing risk perception of NCDs and the factors associated with risk perception of NCDs. METHODS The reporting of this systematic review is in accordance with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines. We carried out a literature search through three databases (Scopus, PubMed, Web of Science) and targeted original article published in English between 2012 and 2021. Quality appraisal of the eligible articles was conducted using the Mixed Methods Appraisal Tool. Findings were synthesized using content analysis. RESULTS A total of 86 studies were included. We found a variety of questionnaires assessing risk perception of NCDs, with many differences in their development, domains, items and validity. We also identified several personal, sociopsychological and structural factors associated with risk perception of NCDs. LIMITATIONS Most of the included studies were of cross-sectional design, and therefore the quality of evidence was considered low and exhibit a high risk of bias. The role of publication bias within this systematic review should be acknowledged as we did not include grey literature. Additionally, language bias must be considered as we only included English-language publications. CONCLUSION Further development and testing of available questionnaire is warranted to ensure their robustness and validity in measuring risk perception of NCDs. All the identified factors deserve further exploration in longitudinal and experimental studies.

Abstract
This study aimed to identify the decisional stages for cervical screening and corresponding cognitive factors in female university students. A cross-sectional study was conducted among Korean female university students aged 20-29 years through an online survey. The main outcome was the decisional stage of cervical screening adoption using the precaution adoption process model. The stages were classified into pre-adoption (the unawareness, unengaged, and undecided stages), adoption (the decided to act and acting stages), and refusal (the decided not to act stage). The cognitive factors in each stage were analyzed using the key concepts of the health-belief model. Cervical screening was defined as a clinical Papanicolaou (Pap) smear performed by a physician in a clinic. The final analysis included 1024 students. Approximately 89.0%, 1.0%, and 10.2% were classified as the pre-adoption, refusal, and adoption stages, respectively. Compared to the pre-adoption stage group, the adoption stage group was more likely to be older and have higher self-efficacy and knowledge. Most participants belonged to the pre-adoption stage-those unaware of cervical screening. Furthermore, most had a low level of knowledge and perception of cervical cancer and its screening. Therefore, our study highlighted the need for education to increase awareness and knowledge of cervical screening in this population.

Abstract
Objectives: Among cancer prevention studies, little is known about knowledge, attitudes, and beliefs toward triage adherence in the context of the human papillomavirus self-collection test. This formative research aims to identify knowledge, attitudes, and beliefs related to human papillomavirus and cervical cancer prevention specifically about adherence to Pap triage among women residing in a low-income province in Argentina. Methods: We conducted six focus groups, stratified by residence and age. All participants were aged 30 or older and had performed human papillomavirus self-collection. Data collection and thematic analysis were carried out using constructs from the Health Belief Model. Results: Misinformation regarding human papillomavirus and cervical cancer was common and was a source of distress. Women could not distinguish Pap screening from triage; human papillomavirus risk perception was limited but cervical cancer was perceived as a threatening disease. Women were willing to follow-up after receiving an abnormal screening result. Negative views about clinician-collected screening/triage were common, defined as painful and shameful, and comes with an economic cost (transport/time). Lack of help from family/friends was an obstacle to adhering to triage. Health issues in the family’s records and a physician’s recommendation were a cue to adhere to triage. Conclusion: Lack of knowledge or misinformation of the causes of cervical cancer, human papillomavirus, and the multi-step screening and triage process are barriers to follow-up adherence. Interventions to improve communication between women and health providers about screening results and follow-up are needed. Also, health services should be organized to respond to women’s needs and reduce access barriers to follow-up.

Abstract
Background: Many patients with advanced cervical cancer (CC) have a poor prognosis and their mortality rank the first among women with malignant tumors. It's essential to explore the molecular mechanism of CC in clinical practice. Long noncoding RNA maternally expressed gene 3 (MEG3) has been reported to downregulate in CC tissues. However, the underlying mechanism of MEG3 in CC remains poorly elaborated. The current study aimed to explore the potential mechanism of MEG3 inducing endoplasmic reticulum stress (ERs)-mediated apoptosis of CC cells. Methods: The expression of MEG3 and miR-7-5p in CC tissues and cell lines was verified by quantitative reverse transcription/polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR). The vector of MEG3, miR-7-5p inhibitor, and sh-SCT1 were transfected into CC cell lines, and their expression was tested by qRT-PCR. Flow cytometry was used to detect apoptosis, and ERs-related protein expression was performed by Western blot. The regulatory relationship between MEG3/SCT1 and miR-7-5p was validated by Dual luciferase reporter assay. Results: CC tissues and cell lines showed downregulated MEG3 and STC1, and upregulated miR-7-5p. Overexpression of MEG3 or miR-7-5p inhibition induced ERs-triggered apoptosis of CC cells. In addition, sh-STC1 can reverse the effects of overexpressing MEG3 on CC cell apoptosis. In addition, dual luciferase reporter assay revealed that miR-7-5p can directly target to MEG3 and STC1. Conclusion: MEG3, act as a competing endogenous RNA of miR-7-5p, accelerates ERs-mediated apoptosis of CC cells through regulating SCT1 expression.

Abstract
The human papillomavirus (HPV) is a public health concern because of its association with cancer. HPV vaccine rates among college students remains low. This is a critical catch-up age for individuals to receive the HPV vaccine and research shows parents still play a role in college students' medical decision-making. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to examine factors related to college women making a solo decision to initiate the HPV vaccination in comparison to making a joint parent-daughter decision. Data collected using an internet-delivered questionnaire were analyzed from 799 college women who had initiated or completed the HPV vaccination. Multinomial logistic regression was performed to compare study variables on who decided the participant should be vaccinated (self-decision, parent-only decision, joint parent-daughter decision). Participants who were older (OR 1.68, p < 0.001) and sexually active (OR 4.97, p < 0.001) were significantly more likely to have made a solo decision to be vaccinated. Participants who completed the HPV vaccination (OR 0.33, p < 0.001) and those who talked with a parent about the HPV vaccine (OR 0.12, p < 0.001) were significantly less likely to have made a solo decision to be vaccinated. Findings indicate joint parent-daughter decisions may improve HPV vaccination cycle completion.

Abstract
UHRF1 (ubiquitin-like, containing PHD and RING finger domains 1) is an important epigenetic regulator that plays a part in DNA methylation, protein methylation and ubiquitination. It is also frequently overexpressed in many types of cancers, including cervical cancer, which is caused by human papillomavirus (HPV). In this study, we showed that UHRF1 was up-regulated in HPV oncogene E7 expressing cells and HPV-positive cervical cancer cells. We demonstrated that UHRF1 down-regulated the expression of UBE2L6 gene that encodes the ISG15-conjugating enzyme UbcH8. Overexpression of UHRF1 reduced UBE2L6 while knockdown UHRF1 elevated the expression of UBE2L6. We showed that UHRF1 regulated UBE2L6 gene by promoter hypermethylation in cervical cancer cells. Consistent with the functions of UHRF1, restored expression of UbcH8 induced apoptosis. These findings establish UBE2L6 as a novel target of UHRF1 that regulates the apoptosis function of UHRF1. Our studies suggest that UHRF1/ UbcH8 can be manipulated for therapy in cervical cancer.

Perceived cervical cancer risk among women treated for high-grade cervical intraepithelial neoplasia: The importance of specific knowledge. PLoS One 2017; 12:e0190156. Abstract
Objective Women with high-grade cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) are at increased risk for developing cervical cancer. We examine how women with high-grade CIN perceive their own risk, and about pertinent knowledge concerning human high-risk papillomavirus (HPV), CIN and cervical cancer. Methods All patients who underwent first-time treatment of high-grade CIN (grade 2+) were followed-up at 6-months at the Karolinska University Hospital, Stockholm, Sweden and were invited to participate in the present study. This included completion of a questionnaire examining sociodemographic characteristics, self-perceived risk of cervical cancer without regular gynecologic follow-up, and 14 queries about HPV, CIN and cervical cancer knowledge, inter alia. Results The participation rate was 96.6%, with 479 women enrolled in this study. Over 75% were age 40 or younger, over half had completed university education. Most were married or co-living with their partner and were gainfully employed. On a scale scored from 10 (highest self-perceived risk of cervical cancer without regular gynecologic follow-up) to 1 (lowest self-perceived risk), 64% rated their risk ≥ 7; almost 30% viewed their risk ≤ 6 and 7.5% did not rate their risk. A Specific Knowledge Scale with six of the queries explained 58.3% of the total variance. Nearly 30% of the women answered four or fewer of the six queries correctly. The Specific Knowledge Scale predicted self-perceived cervical cancer risk (Odds ratio = 11.3, 95% Confidence Interval 5.6 − 22.6) after adjusting for age, income and education. Most of the women with low self-perceived cervical cancer risk did not rate their HPV-related knowledge as good. However, 32 predominantly university-educated women, with low self-perceived cervical cancer risk, considered their HPV-related knowledge good. Conclusion It is vital to effectively convey accurate information about these patients’ cervical cancer risk, needed preventive and follow-up measures, together with the relevant specific knowledge, for these women at increased risk for developing cervical cancer. Tailored programming to address these knowledge gaps is needed.

Abstract
Cervical cancer is the second most common gynecological malignancy. The mechanisms of the genesis and progression of cervical cancer are complicated and not thoroughly understood. DEK is reported as an oncogene in various cancers, such as acute myeloid leukemia, bladder cancer, breast cancer and hepatocellular cancer. However, its role in cervical cancer has not been well studied. In our study, we confirmed the DEK protein as an oncoprotein in cervical cancer tissues which is correlated to cervical cancer FIGO staging and tumor type. Moreover, in vitro loss of DEK inhibited cervical cancer cell proliferation, migration and invasion. We proved that silencing DEK downregulated Wnt/β-catenin and MMP-9, and silencing DEK increased GSK-3β activity via regulating its phosphorylation instead of translation. Silencing DEK reduced p-Ser9-GSK-3β and increased p-Tyr216-GSK-3β, which resulted in β-catenin degradation. Finally, the xenograft model in nude mice proved that silencing DEK impaired cervical cancer cell tumorigenicity. This research unveiled the function of DEK in tumorigenesis and metastasis via the DEK/p-Ser9-GSK-3β/p-Tyr216-GSK-3β/β-catenin axis in cervical cancer and gave insights into DEK-targeting therapy for patients suffering from cervical cancer.
